"Again, God said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!" Ezekiel 37:4 Have you ever felt as though you're standing in a barren desert, surrounded by desolation in your relationship, family, business, career, or ministry? If you've experienced moments when it seems like every effort leads to another dead end and hope becomes a distant memory, you are not alone. The story of Ezekiel prophesying over the valley of dry bones offers profound encouragement—a reminder that even what appears lifeless can be revived through faith and divine intervention. In times of struggle, consider the real-life story of Sarah Harris, who faced bankruptcy at 40. Her boutique business was on the brink due to an unexpected economic downturn. Overwhelmed but inspired by Ezekiel's vision (Ezekiel 37:4), she gathered with her family and prayed fervently for restoration. Within months, new opportunities paved the way; her family came together stronger than ever to rebuild their relationships and venture. Isaiah 44:3 says, "For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants." As Winston Churchill once said, "Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." This powerful testament underscores the notion that persistence fueled by hope can reignite seemingly dormant facets of our lives. In your own journey across relationships or careers deemed beyond repair, cling to Jeremiah 29:11, which promises God's plans for prosperity and a future filled with hope. Remember that prophesying isn't reserved merely for biblical times—it's about speaking life into desolate situations today. Whether it's facing difficulties within your ministry or yearning to mend familial rifts, invoke Matthew 19:26 that “with God, all things are possible.” By affirming belief in renewal and transformation despite visible evidence to the contrary, you invite miraculous change into every corner of your existence. John 7:38 says, whoever believes in Christ, as the Scripture has said: 'Streams of living water will flow from within him.'" Prayer for the Day! I pray for those who feel like they are standing in a valley of dry bones. Just as Ezekiel spoke to the dry bones in the valley and they came to life, so do I prophesy life into every area that seems barren and lifeless in your life. May the breath of the Almighty God flow into your circumstances, bringing renewal and transformation. Let His Spirit ignite a revival within you, as fresh as streams of living water running through a parched land. In Jesus' name. Amen.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pastor-divineo/support

This week Nicola and Di chat with the talented and inspiring Mel Wilson. Mel is a journalist, voice-over artist, podcast host and author of the new book, Parenting in Progress, which is full of stories and tips from all kinds of celebrities and experts - as Mel puts it, it's imperfect advice for the biggest role of your life. Whether you're a parent, a grandparent, an aunt, an uncle, or none of the above, there's something in this chat for everyone. In this conversation, we hear how Mel juggled her career as a podcast host and voice-over artist with being a single parent to 2 young kids and still managed to write this book in the spare moments she could find on the sidelines of a soccer game, in the back of a taxi, or on a plane - she made every minute count.  We talk about parenting these days - how no one really knows what they're doing, everyone's just trying to figure it out, but the pressure to be perfect has increased so much that it's created these new ways of parenting, such as helicopter parents and snowplough parents. We talk about how much parenting has changed over the decades and Di also shares some funny stories of her own parenting mishaps.  Mel opens up about the challenges of being a single parent, what it was like trying to survive, make a living and raise her kids in Sydney, and how her own parents stepped in to help in really practical ways - you'll want to listen in to hear what her dad did, because it might make you cry.  Mel talks about what dating is like after divorce, and her own Over The Back Fence love story - it's such a goodie!  Mel also shares some of the wonderful stories from people like Amanda Keller, Turia Pitt, Taryn Brumfitt, Sarah Harris and Sam Wood, who are just some of the incredible people she interviewed for her book.  This was such a funny and down-to-earth conversation about what it's really like to parent and juggle it all and we loved having Mel in the studio with us. We hope you love it too.   Follow Mel on IG here  Buy Mel's book Parenting In Progress here Follow Nicola and Di on IG hereSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The sentencing far exceeds state recommendations for the case of depraved-heart murder. Circuit Court Judge Cheryl A. McCally, who presided over the case, showed little mercy as she delivered the sentence. Harris, who was only 25 years old and weighed a mere 83 pounds at the time of her death, succumbed to a lethal combination of ketamine, propofol, and diazepam intoxication. Prosecutors argued that Ryan played a significant role in Harris's death, as he continuously provided her with stolen drugs from his practice, even as her health deteriorated. Despite a calculated sentencing guideline of 10 to 25 years, Judge McCally emphasized the exploitation of trust and the gravity of Ryan's actions, leading her to impose the 45-year sentence. Tina Harris, Sarah's grieving mother, expressed satisfaction with the verdict. In an emotional statement in court, she clutched a lock of Sarah's braided hair and a satchel of her ashes, proclaiming, "This is all I have left of my baby. This is all I have left because you took her." The text messages showed that it was February 2021 when Ryan first introduced her to ketamine, a drug often used for surgery sedation, which he said would help her anxiety. “I can give you an injection,” he wrote. “The anxiety will be completely gone in 6 seconds.” The couple's conversations expanded to other drugs and supplies, including IV poles, saline bags, gauze, tape, and 20-gauge needles. “Can you get more Versed and ketamine,” Harris wrote on Aug. 27, 2021. “And also IV catheter.” The texts were often written while Harris was at their home and Ryan was at his office. At one point, as noted by McCally on Wednesday, Ryan wrote to Harris that he had given her some more ketamine while she slept. The judge also referenced a 10-second video, apparently taken by Ryan, of the two of them sitting next to each other. Harris had an arm up in the air as if it was floating that he would make such a video and keep it made an impression on the judge. “The fact that that seemed appropriate in your world is gut-wrenching,” she said. On the morning of January 26, 2022, Ryan discovered Harris unresponsive in their Clarksburg home and called 911. Despite efforts to revive her, paramedics pronounced Harris dead at the scene. An autopsy later confirmed the cause of death as drug intoxication. Prosecutors sought a 55-year sentence, arguing that Ryan was aware of the deadly consequences of his actions. Ryan's defense maintained that he acted out of love to alleviate Harris's pain but made the wrong decisions. They emphasized his struggles with drug abuse and mental health. Judge McCally, however, condemned Ryan's dangerous actions, pointing to text messages and a video recording where Harris appeared to be high.  Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? While Something To Talk About takes a break over Christmas and New Year, we are revisiting some of the most memorable moments from the almost 50 guests who have joined us in conversation over the past year.  Today's episode is being released at a time of year when we are bombarded with images of happy families celebrating the Christmas holidays. Even in 2023, the greeting card definition of what a family looks like is still often of a mum, dad, two children, a dog and a white picket fence. In some households, of course, that is exactly what their family does look like. But with around 30% of marriages in this country ending in divorce, many households look very different to what is being reflected back at them in popular culture this festive season.  In this episode, we revisit a few candid conversations with high-profile Australian women including Miranda Kerr, Jackie O, Michelle Bridges and Sarah Harris - all of whom opened up about their personal experience of navigating a marriage breakdown without bitterness, and shared their insights into co-parenting their children with an ex in the most positive way possible. We also hear from Sophie Cachia, who wrote a memoir about the moment she realised she was attracted to women - several years into her marriage with the father of her two children.  And, of course, there is our conversation with a recently separated Natalie Bassingthwaighte where she spoke for the first time about being in a relationship with a woman - and reflected on her ex husband's unwavering support during this new chapter of her life.  Whatever your family looks like this holiday season, we hope you'll find something that resonates with you in this episode of the Something To Talk About summer series. Oral Surgeon Convicted of Murder in Girlfriend's Anesthetic Drug Overdose Death

Oral surgeon James Ryan, 50, has been found guilty of murder for the death of his 25-year-old girlfriend, Sarah Harris. The verdict was reached on Friday after a three-hour deliberation by the jury.  The case revolved around the death of Sarah Harris, who was discovered lifeless at Ryan's Maryland home in January 2022. An autopsy revealed that Harris had died due to intoxication caused by a mixture of ketamine, propofol, and diazepam - powerful anesthetic drugs. Prosecutors alleged that Ryan displayed "an extreme indifference" to Harris' life by providing her with these dangerous substances despite her deteriorating health and addiction struggles. At the time of her death, Harris weighed a mere 83 pounds.  Court documents and testimony indicated that Ryan had set up an intravenous stand to administer these addictive drugs to Harris. A search of their home uncovered multiple bottles of the controlled substances, along with hypodermic needles, syringes, and related paraphernalia.  Investigators also brought to light text messages between the couple, where Harris explicitly requested various controlled substances from Ryan's dental practice. The text exchanges revealed that Ryan had been facilitating an at-home drug delivery system for Harris, including the provision of IV poles, saline solution, fluids, and needles.  Harris had first crossed paths with Ryan in the fall of 2020 when she sought oral surgery services at his practice. Their relationship evolved as Harris was subsequently employed as a surgical technician due to her prior experience in the field. The prosecution argued that Ryan, being a skilled oral surgeon well-aware of the risks involved, had deliberately supplied Harris with these dangerous substances, contributing to her gradual decline.  Throughout the trial, Ryan's defense maintained that Harris' death was either a result of suicide or an accidental overdose that she administered to herself. Defense attorney Thomas DeGonia pointed to Harris' history of requesting ketamine for relief from depression and the recent death of her brother. DeGonia argued that these factors could have contributed to her tragic end.  Ryan chose not to testify during his trial, and the jury ultimately rejected the defense's arguments, finding him guilty on all counts.  Ryan's sentencing date remains to be determined, and he could potentially face up to 55 years behind bars.
