Petteri Oksa on Insinööriliiton edunvalvontajohtaja.

Can you believe it peep's? Six more 70's movie reviews for you. 4 from 1975, one 1978 sequel to a 1975 film, and one 1980 film that's just there to bring some fun random chaos, and that's not sayin anything about the film itself, we'll get there. Starting off our 4- 75's in alphabetical order we have Disney's (Escape to witch mountain 1975). I'm sorry but give me just 25 million dollars and I know that I could make an amazing reboot of this shit, I think the story is pretty great and timeless, and though I've never directed nothing, I am one hundred percent sure of it. Damn it Dominic, stop casting an imaginary film in yer head and get it together, you've got to vacuum soon. Ok moving on to (In Celebration 1975) Seriously why is Oliver Reed NOT in this. I don't normally complain about casting but……… Here we DO have the annoying artist from An Unmarried Woman, the principal of Rushmore academy in Rushmore, and three other actors from other Lindsey Anderson movies and that's it. Yes 70's film fans it's yet another way to loyal to the confinements of a play movie, I usually for some reason really love these, do I here? You'll just have to wait and find out. Mystique lure, 5 points! Next up is (Mackintosh and TJ 1975) and omg as I write this we just watched the movie Cold Turkey last night, and although I may like much of both of these, they and many other films that even in the 70's should of known better. There are both suspiciously 99.9 percent white people only movies. I know I know the “of the time” BS but we should notice and mention this poop BECAUSE it's noticeable, I mean IS that what you wanna say, I don't think so, I hope not. Here we have Roy Rogers in his last movie, and again, lots to dig here especially the fact that ROY has got skills, but also it's fun and mostly light, way too bad it's mad white. GARAK of DS9 is here as well. Onward we go to review (Shampoo 1975) and like In Celebration, here we have a director I really like, making a film that, wellllllllllllllll I'd rather not say. I will say that some actor greats are here doin great work, Julie, Christie, Goldie Hawn, Jack Warden, Lee Grant, and Carrie Fisher to name a few. I left out Warren Beatty not because his acting is bad here, its great ish (he always seems to play so clueless) but because I want to point out that his character alone is why this doesn't get a higher rating, from me, lets see what the others say. This is taking way to long, next up to bat is the sequel (Return to Witch Mountain 1978) and guess what…………… it sucks HA! Betty Davis and Christopher Lee don't suck, buuuuuuuuuut. Moving on (finally) to (Touched by Love 1980) gawd that is such a basic ass title I guess I can't say it enough, it's so very free box. Here we have Diane Lane in her 2nd film ever, also older Kunta from roots is here and great character actor with 150 credits Mary Wickes. This one took all of us awhile to figure out that it takes place in I think the late 50's. That was funny n fun journey, as we slowly gathered context clues. It might of even said the year, but this one is sadly only available on VHS and I started it like 45 seconds too late and and did not wanna get up off my butt to rewind it, til the end. Were silly. If you're interested in the history of the treatment of the developmentally disabled it's quite a worthwhile watch, although this place seems like the best ever for the 50's or 60's. Longest episode synopsis ever, apologies and thanks so much for listening.
Kunta, Chucky and Big Bull Full Interview
Roots 1977- Shot of espresso is freshly downed, cracks knuckles, let's go. Today your decade under the influence crew takes on the mini series Roots, which came into our living rooms for 8 nights starting on jan 23 1977. I remember watching at least some of this with my parents and four sisters at the young age of 6, so I think it was probably mandatory family viewing, in mine and in most cool family homes. It is a lil interesting to think how everyone read about this in their TV guides or in the newspapers, and adjusted their schedules to make eight nights of this, and get the complete story. I'm sure they talked about on the tv too, but this was of course before video stores or streaming so you really had to make n effort to plop down and absorb all that was put into bringing Alex Haley's huge best selling story of his family history of surviving the slave trade. A massively important thing for America to look at and talk about, so I'm very glad it was taken so seriously by all involved. So much acting talent in here, and of course it all starts with chief engineer Geordie La Forge. This is LeVar Burton's first acting gig right outta college, way before he got us all pumped about reading, or flew starships, he left such an impression in his portrayal of Kunte Kinte, that we all forget he is only in the first 2 episodes. Also starring in Roots we have Mary Tyler Moore's boss Lou Grant as the reluctant slave boat owner. Ed Asner if were gettin technical. We have the mean baseball coach from bad news bears who died on the set of the movie the twilight zone, the guy from the rifleman, the guy from midnight express, the rad guy from iron eagle, the amazing Madge Sinclair, Olivia Cole, the kick ass Ben Vereen as chicken George (Fosse hands), and Commander Adama himself, to name just a few. Shit, don't forget John Amos as older Kunta, also Mr. flipping Brady plays a real asshole in this. Many of these amazing actors lend their talents to play some of the worst people on the planet. It really is a magnificent mini series with amazing music by Quincy Jones in the first episode, annnnnnnnnnnnnnd then the music does take a bit of a dive. There a few things that do remind us that this is a 70's made for TV movie. As progressive and amazing it is, and the fact that they got it made and had amerika look it's past right in the eye, and get a black eye back when they weren't even teaching our racist true beginnings in the history books at school yet. It is still not 100 percent free of issues. One such thing is the recap narrator talking about the triumph of the American spirit n shit, but don't worry cause we talk all about it, and seriously folks, as much as it is not, we would like this to be a conversion that continues, so. Thank you for listening, and if you like or don't like what you hear, or if we missed something cool, or whatever, please write on the socials and let us know.

The ridicule and pressure from the elite overseers of ESPN have swayed the Brooklyn Nets to indefinitely suspend Kyrie Irving for at least five games without pay. Who are these overseers? Charles Barkley, Shaq, and Stephen A. Smith. Following Irving's suspension, he issued a public apology for posting a tweet of the Amazon link to the documentary “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America.” The apology came after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he was “disappointed” in Irving's decision not to initially apologize. “Fearless” soldiers Delano Squires, Steve Kim, and Shemeka Michelle join the discussion to explain exactly why no one came to Irving's defense. “Fearless” soldier Royce White also brings some clarity to what Adam Silver is really saying to Kyrie Irving and the real danger to our American rights. In Sorcery or Science? Contesting Knowledge and Practice in West African Sufi Texts (The Pennsylvania State University Press, 2022) Ariela Marcus-Sells examines two Sufi Muslim theologians, known as Kunta scholars, who rose to prominence in the western Sahara Desert in the late eighteenth century. Sīdi al-Mukhtār al-Kuntī (d. 1811) and his son and successor, Sīdi Muḥammad al-Kuntī (d. 1826), influenced the development of Sufi Muslim thought in West Africa. Through textual analysis of their devotional aids, such as prayers and magic squares, we are provided a picture of their understanding of “the realm of the unseen” and the resulting practices of the “sciences of the unseen.” Marcus-Sells captures how Kunta scholars engaged with contested Sufi and Islamic praxis that contained cosmology, metaphysics, magic, sorcery, and occultism. The study also contextualizes these magical and Sufi practices within social and political context of the Saharan desert, such as Transatlantic slavery, while mapping the broader legacies of these devotional practices within Hellenistic and Arabo-Islamic worlds. The book further invites a methodological intervention in the study of religion, in terms of how scholars construct boundaries around emic and etic terminologies of magic, especially in Islamic Studies and broadly in religious studies. This remarkable book will be of interest to those who think and write about Africana religious studies, Islamic occultism, magic, Sufism, and Islam. Learn more about your ad choices. Black On Both Sides Episode #143 Kunta took a visit of the new Tupac museum in LA.From what he is saying this is a definite place to visit if you ever make it to LA. Contrary to most people's belief, I am a Tupac fan when it comes to culture and impact. Just imagine what Pac had in store for us had he survived his twenties. Sadly, you have to exit through the gift shop. Leave your wallet in the car. RICO comes to visit a new gang of Atlanta rappers. Everyone knows, you don't beat the RICO. A draft was leaked stating that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade. States will get the right to choose how they handle abortions. Kunta feels like this is already sewn up. I believe that we should support our justices or burn the whole thing down. If there is no objectivity left in the halls...The halls must go! How often does the Supreme Court overturn a decision??? Black On Both Sides Episode #142 I am fresh off of a Jamaican vacation. Kunta's favorite getaway is Jamaica, but I didn't get the same vibes. On this trip I had an epiphany of all inclusive resorts. Kunta spent the weekend inebriate adjacent and still managed to pull off a headache. He defeated this with his Sunday brunch of items that would normally contribute to a heart attack all on their own being grouped together in a Frankenstein' Burger. Justice Brown was accepted and is most likely the most qualified justice of all time. This didn't sway the Republicans from not supporting her. One after one they spoke of her greatness and qualifications just before they mentioned that they would not be supporting her. Reminds me of that job interview where they tell you that you are too qualified. Black On Both Sides Episode #137 Kunta needed a “Me” day and decided to take it on the southwest side of LA. Compton, Crenshaw, Little Ethiopia, etc. The Marathon Store was looking more like a swap meet, so he decided to get some soul food. Nothing like some Turkey and Mac ‘n’ Cheese to reset the soul. Kunta is well on his way to being a better version of himself. You can even hear it in his voice. His self help books and new wake-up regimen has show results. Kunta wants to let the world know. I, on the other hand, do not subscribe to letting the gurus in to my brain to assist in my “Self” improvement. Self-help is for nothing if you don’t come prepared to finish the race. There may not be everything you need along the way. If all else fails, stick to the motto “Always bring your own juice”. Black On Both Sides Episode #135 Thanksgiving has passed and Kunta went to someone else’s house for the event. Where was the mac n cheese? I also went to an in-law’s house and Kunta is offended for them that I didn’t eat. I do not eat at other people’s houses. Please don’t be offended. And please do still invite me. I want to be there and break bread with you and your family. However, I don’t want to eat the bread. Kunta reports back on his 5 am Club findings. Is this arbitrary number really responsible for the titans of business? Can you force yourself to get up at 5 am everyday? Kyle Rittnehouse getting off with no charges had Black America on edge that the Arbery trial was not going to go the way of justice. Much to everyone’s surprise the defendants were convicted on all counts. The country takes a loud and intentional exhale. Whether or not you are part of the crypto gang doesn’t mean that crypto isn’t happening all around you. If you have not invested a penny into crypto, you aren’t alone. It does, however, mean that you are behind when it comes to what will inevitably be the future of money. Maybe Bitcoin is not the future. But something like Bitcoin will be. NFTs, Blockchain, Crypto currency all need to be a part of your vocabulary.
