Job Tales - I interview professionals to help you become who you wish to be
Welcome to *Job Tales*: the show where I interview people from all over the world about their professions. Through my podcast, I wish to inspire YOU by giving an overview of the many job options for you out there. Today, we're diving into the world of Jacquie Leavy, who turned her passion for gardening and working outdoors into a career as a Paysagiste, French word for landscape gardener. If you like to work outdoors and have a good sense of entrepreneurship, this job may be for you.
Another Halloween has come and gone, and I hope you all had sufficiently spooky time. Lots of candy and fake blood and sexy costumes…why can't it be officially Halloween week? Soon it will be that most festive of holidays and I have to say, I love that one as much (full disclosure maybe more) because the sinister side of Christmas is masked by the most wholesome of veneers. We'll have lots of Christmas episodes for you unwrap but that's still a couple weeks out so in the meantime, we return you to our regularly scheduled programming. In this episode we are joined by one of the busiest guys in the world of horror filmmaking. He has produced a series of films that have become huge hits financially and created a new slasher icon in the mold of Freddy or Pennywise. He has a new film out that he directed titled “Stream”, and it has nearly every horror icon you can think of is in the cast (though friend of the podcast and genre royalty Jeffrey Combs really gets to shine here). The film also features and appearance by a genre legend that we have just lost, the formidable Tony Todd. I had the great privilege of having a friendship with Tony for almost 20 years and his talent, humour, thoughtfulness and kindness was unmatched. So, this episode is for Tony. Who loved his craft. Who loved movies, the people that made them and the people that watched them.Back to “Stream”, it's a raucous, funny, gory, inventive occasionally touching movie that brings the goods and then some. And again, there's the fantastic Jeffrey Combs performance! “ Stream” is streaming now.Joining us to talk about producing the hijinks of Art the Clown in “The Terrifier” films and taking on directing “Stream” is producer/director Michale Leavy. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

In this episode of Radical Reformers, I am joined by Theresa Leavy, former Executive Director for Children (DCS) at Dorset Council and Interim Director of Children's services at Cheshire East Council. In this wonderfully honest and open discussion, Theresa takes us through her career from an 18 year old in charge of a group of kids in residential care, all the way through to leading Dorset's improvement journey over the last four years. It's a leadership master class where Theresa talks about the importance of connecting as a person with your work, the importance of delivering high support and high challenge as well as the true meaning of being kind. My favourite bit of the whole conversation is how leaders need to show vulnerability. I think this is something which is really lacking. Enjoy it!
Wanna see what happens when a host goes it alone on one of the most violent flicks KILLING it at the box office?Oh yeah, it's a brand new Scene In Fifteen, and the Merc With A Mouth is on the screen! Nashon gave the green light and said "Go ahead", or at least that's what I THOUGHT I heard. Too late. Lol. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprise two of their most famous roles in this MONSTER of a box office draw, so you KNOW it was gonna end up here. Treatment time! Does the new outing of Marvel's most famous fourth wall breaker, make you wanna SLEEP from all the superhero fatigue OR is there no way you can do anything else but KEEP this mash of two besties leading a movie together?I could TELL you, but why don't you just press play? Lol. Welcome, to a brand new Scene In Fifteen!

We are happy to welcome back Producer, Actor, and Director Michael Leavy to talk about the movie STREAM which will be theaters AUG 21st. We also talk about SCREAMBOAT and maybe a little Terrifier3? STREAM: The Keenan family's simple weekend getaway truly turns into a vacation to die for, as four deranged killers playing a sadistic game lock down their hotel and compete for the most creative murders of all the guests. SCREAMBOAT: A late-night boat ride turns into a desperate fight for survival in New York City when a mischievous mouse becomes a monstrous reality. Can a motley crew survive a killer creature with a taste for tourists? To put it simply, Michael Leavy was born a filmmaker. Ever since he learned what a movie was he has dreamed of making them. Fortunately, it didn't take long for that dream to become a reality. Michael began shooting his own films and taught himself how to edit at an early age and has perfected his craft ever since. From the early days of using a paper-towel roll to scroll credits, all the way through mastering Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere, his passion has never left. Michael almost single-handedly ran his high school's television studio; anchoring the show each morning and creating more skits and short films than anyone else in the studio's history. Michael received his Bachelor's Degree in TV & Film from Saint John's University and also took graduate classes to further his knowledge. In 2010 Michael Leavy, along with his brother Jason Leavy and Steven Della Salla, established a production company, Fuzz on the Lens Productions. In 2014 Fuzz on the Lens' received worldwide fame with their viral 'Staten Island Clown" publicity stunt. Michael has directed/produced a comedy/fantasy entitled "Abnormal Attraction" starring Malcom McDowell, Gilbert Gottfried, Tyler Mane, Leslie Easterbrook, and academy award nominee Bruce Davison. Michael is most known for starring as 'Will the Exterminator' in the now cult classic original 'Terrifier". More recently, Michael was one of the Producers and the Assistant Director of the Top 10 Box Office success, "Terrifier 2" and is currently Directing / Producing Fuzz on the Lens Productions next horror feature, "Stream", which stars horror icons; Jeffrey Combs, Danielle Harris, Tony Todd, Tim Reid, Dee Wallace, Daniel Roebuck, Felissa Rose, Dave Sheridan, Mark Holton, Damian Maffei and Art the Clown himself, David Howard Thornton. Today I speak with the fabulous Cheryl Leavy. Cheryl is a proud First Nations woman, who generously gave of her time to discuss her culture with me. She relates how we can approach First Nations people with tenderness in the health care setting and in general life. We discuss the diversity of our indigenous peoples differing countries and how important it is to just ask them about their cultures. Cheryl is a story teller and will soon be releasing her first book. She is passionate about her culture and indeed, all First Nation people's differing cultures, and how all Australians should be invested in understanding more about our First Nations peoples. From the moment I met Cheryl, I was drawn to her. Her vibrancy, wisdom and willingness to share her knowledge (without judging my lack of knowledge) about her people was truly awe inspiring. I came away from this interview replaying the conversations over and over in my head. It's a true gift from someone when they can share knowledge about themself and that information makes you stop and reflect. Chatting with Cheryl did just that for me. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. For decades, firefighters at the Chicago Fire Department noticed an eerie hand print that left a permanent mark on a casement, which could not be washed, scraped or removed, despite several attempts. Legends circulated, and many believed that the handprint had a rather macabre history, belonging to a fellow firefighter. (The Ghostly Handprint of Francis Leavy) *** Ventriloquists don't have a lot of prestige when it comes to the entertainment industry – on many lists they are just one rung higher than a juggler. But they've been throwing their voices at us for centuries. And one man named James Burns was so good at his art, he was tossed into jail for it! (The Man Who Could Make Dead Fish Talk) *** A child murdering their parents is, thankfully, rare – but when it happens, it grabs headlines. But some of the reasons that a child gives for murdering his or her own mother can be downright shocking and unbelievable. (They Murdered Their Mothers) *** Just the word “lobotomy” brings images of cruelty, inhumane treatment under the guise of medicine, and a procedure that could more appropriately be labeled as torture. We'll look at a few cases of individuals who had a lobotomy performed on them… and the disturbing results. Today's guests, Cheri Leavy, and Whitney Long are the founders of The Southern C. The Southern Coterie developed out of a mutual love for the South and passion for the people and unique businesses that shape the region. After achieving much success both personally and professionally in former careers with local and national publications, Whitney and Cheri decided to bring their shared interests together and create The Southern Coterie. Their dream was to cultivate a space in-person and online where like-minded individuals could connect and be inspired. For Cheri, born with a knack for instantly connecting with people, The Southern C seemed like a natural progression. From novice beginnings' writing a “cousin newsletter” to operating a successful online and print publishing business (Bulldawg Illustrated and guide2athens) with her husband, it's Cheri's enthusiasm and inspiration that has made the Southern Coterie and its live events – the Southern C Summits – a must visit for Southern entrepreneurs looking to make valuable connections. After a successful career as a scout, stylist and contributing editor for some of the biggest names in print media like Coastal Living, Southern Accents, Southern Living and Better Homes & Gardens plus various special interest titles, Whitney took time off to focus on her favorite job – being a mom to four – but the scouting didn't end there. Whitney draws on her years of curating unique places and people for the lifestyle magazine industry to create connections, find strategic partners and cultivate a talented team of writers and presenters. Francis Leavy was a hero. A truly brave man. A firefighter. Very little, if anything, shook the manly and burly 1920's-era Chicago fireman. Until one day he came to work, having a panic attack. After some digging, he caved and told his fellow firefighters about a premonition. That he would die that day. Not only did this come to pass, but Francis Leavy may have left something behind. A signal. A sign. One that refused to be scrubbed away. ----------------- Visit us on the web- http://www.asylum817.com ----------------- to support the show, check us out on Patreon- http://www.patreon.com/asylum817 ----------------- DISTROKID AFFILIATE LINK: https://www.distrokid.com/vip/seven/3128872 ----------------- This episode was brought to you by Keep On Sharing! The Terrifier 2 is breaking some box office records and has reports of audience members vomiting, passing out, and an ambulance being called to one theater. Michael has an amazing story of following his passion at a young age and turning that into starting his own production company, Fuzz on the Lens, with his brother and friend. Michael had the pleasure of being decapitated by Art the Clown in The Terrifier. He may not track his macros, but he hurt Tom Cruise's ego - you'll have to listen to find out how! It was a blast having this conversation with authentic east coast accents through and through. You can stream The Terrifier movies on Amazon Prime and Scream Box. Welcome back to the Bill Bradley Collective, where we are back on the grounds of the Leavy-berg Compound, returned from a one-week road trip to the tremendous Social Bar & Kitchen. We are back to get season seven off the ground and running, with a conversation show considering whether or not the NBA's so-called era of player empowerment has made like Arthur Fonzarelli and jumped-the-shark. Where we begin with the conception of player-empowerment is up for some debate, may it be Kareem Abdul-Jabar's move from Milwaukee to Los Angeles in the early 70's, ascendent post-Jordan superstars Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter's demand for respective departures from Toronto, or a LeBron James initiated play to make Miami the center of the basket-verse in teaming up with peers and fellow stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. A lot has changed since 1975; 2004; 2010. Individual player influence has grown exponentially, and as salaries have grown within some proportion to the NBA's increasingly exorbitant televised rights' fees, so have the influence of certain less-than-exemplary professionals: namely Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving and James Harden. But first, the rants are back, baby, and with a vengeance. Ed sounds off at the start with a heated condemnation of an anti-abortion rights' amendment backed by both houses of Pennsylvania's state legislature; Andrew sets the stage for the Wimbledon gentlemen's final with long held animus for one finalist and begrudging fascination for the other less-accomplished, more mercurial opponent; and Zak brings it home with some dour news regarding the future of American democracy: the expected/pending outcome of Moore v. Harper in the Supreme Court likely coming down in support of independent state legislature doctrine.
**SKIP TO 6:39 TO GET TO THE STORY** 100 years ago, a Chicago firefighter named Francis Leavy leaned against a window and declared, “Today is the day I am going to die.” That same evening Francis was killed when a burning building collapsed on him; However, his ghostly handprint remained on the window, unable to be removed by any means for decades. How did Francis know he was going to die that day? Why did the handprint remain? One thing we know for sure is that Francis died a hero, but remains a legend. Listen as Nat tells Aly the story of the Francis Leavy Handprint and all the theories that attempt to explain what happened! Today, Heather is joined by Whitney Long and Cheri Leavy, founders of The Southern Coterie, a resource and community for the entrepreneurial South. Whitney, Heather, and Cheri talk about the community they've built, providing quality content and solutions for your audience, the art of hospitality, connecting virtually during the pandemic, what 2021 will look like for The Southern C Summit, and so much more!
Today, we hear from Cheri Leavy and Whitney Long, co-founders of “The Southern C”, a network of southern business owners founded in 2011. They discuss how they started to build their amazing network. They are a “virtual front porch for southern entrepreneurs”. It started as a newsletter until they realized most of their subscribers were entrepreneurs who wanted to meet. After the first year, they started to grow. Every year, they host a summit for southern entrepreneurs. The summit mixes business and pleasure. They had to pivot quite a lot with COVID but have handled the transition seamlessly, hosting smaller summits in different locations to meet COVID protocols. Some tips: - Be a good listener. Know what your community needs before even they do. - Growth can happen quickly, so be ready for it. - Always be confident and prepared. - Partnership is like a marriage. You will have your differences, but you work together so well. - Trust is key with a partnership. - Failure is natural. - Community is so important. - Don't go into business thinking you'll make money. “The Southern C” helps the entrepreneurs share their stories, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Cheri and Whitney have worked to create a safe space. They have every presenter share a time when they've failed because failure is a part of life! They believe we have something to learn from our peers and that it is so important to hear these stories to better yourself. To learn more about the Wealth Edit, visit our website and take our quiz!
