Snowboards and Guitars: Circle Strings x Burton at NAMM 2026Some collaborations make you stop and ask how nobody thought of this before. At NAMM Media Day 2026, Sean Martin caught up with Adam Buchwald and William Hylton from Circle Strings, a Vermont-based guitar company, to talk about their partnership with Burton. The concept is deceptively simple: matching snowboards and custom guitars built from the same materials. But the execution is anything but simple.Buchwald owns a wood company in Vermont. He had an entire tree of figured mahogany set aside, waiting for the right project. When Burton agreed to collaborate, he knew exactly what to do with it. The wood became the centerpiece—the visual and sonic foundation of everything that followed. Then William Hylton got to work.Hylton, Circle Strings' designer and CNC specialist, is a backcountry snowboarder. He chose Burton's Alakazam powder board shape as his starting point, drawn to its distinctive tail curve. That curve, he realized, was already guitar-esque. So he wove it through the entire instrument—the fingerboard extension, the pickguard, the bridge tips. The snowboard's DNA lives in every contour. But here's where it gets interesting. The core of a Burton snowboard is wood. Lightweight, durable, designed for performance. Hylton took that same core material and built a guitar body from it. The result feels right in your hands—balanced, resonant, purposeful. It's not a gimmick. It's a genuine instrument built from materials engineered to perform. The acoustic model features a sound hole that mirrors the snowboard's design. Inlays are crafted from Burton's core material, tying everything together visually and conceptually. Both guitars showcase snowflake inlays inspired by Snowflake Bentley, the Vermont photographer who first captured snowflakes in their true crystalline form over a century ago. It's a detail that says everything about how Circle Strings approaches their work. History. Craft. Place.Vermont runs through this collaboration. Buchwald and Hylton are snowboarders. They source their wood locally. They build instruments that reflect where they come from. Burton, also rooted in Vermont's snow culture, was a natural partner. The Burton team, according to Hylton, is thrilled. Many of them are musicians. Some are fans of the artists Circle Strings builds for. The connection was already there—this project just made it tangible. What strikes me about this collaboration is the underlying philosophy. Snowboards and guitars aren't that different when you strip them down. Both are built from wood. Both demand precision. Both exist to help someone express themselves—whether carving powder or carving a melody.Circle Strings and Burton understand this. They didn't force a partnership. They found the common thread and followed it.The result is a set of instruments that belong in a museum and on a stage. Objects that tell a story about craft, place, and the people who refuse to separate their passions.Snowboards and guitars. Same wood. Same craft. Different ride.Sean Martin reports from NAMM 2026 for ITSPmagazine.__________________________This is a Brand Highlight. Laura also opens up about her own experiences with mediums, thoughts on the afterlife, and why New Orleans has such a chokehold on her life.Naturally, we wrap with Chic or Freak, where we judge spirituality, writing rituals, and general ghost-adjacent behavior—because I am a journalist first and foremost!

James DuMont #5Take a walk with me down Fascination Street, as I get to know even more about James DuMont. This is James' FIFTH time on the show; so we don't do a whole deep dive into his past. But we do a little bit of some digging into some of his older stories. In this episode, James shares fun stories about growing up and the moment he realized that something he did could affect the hearts, minds, and emotions of the people around him. Then we get into the importance of storytelling and what it means to be a storyteller. We chat a little about his previous Christmas movie called 'Candy Cane Lane' and even some fun behind the scenes about a project he is working on with his son Kelton. James discusses a recent change up in his representation, and how that is coming along. Finally, we get into his new film 'Hunting Season'; where he stars alongside the iconic Mel Gibson. Hilarious stories of setbacks and growth, plus things he learned on the set of this film. Even after more than 30 years in the industry, it's good to know that James can always learn a new nugget to help him in his career. 'Hunting Season' is available everywhere on VOD and stars: Mel Gibson, Sofia Hublitz, Shelley Hennig, James DuMont, and many more amazing actors. I can't wait for you to see James in his dope ass Stetson Hat!
The Book of Reservations is the second installment of The Ghost Table trilogy. It picks up one year after The Coat Check Girl ends. It is autumn 2000 and Miss Sylvie's Bistrot in Greenwich Village, New York is struggling to survive. Growing pains, an unreliable clientele, and the threat of a hotshot real estate developer loom large. Josie Gray, co-owner, is confident things will turn around, while her much more pragmatic partner thinks she's being unrealistic. She's not. Josie has the benefit of friends on the “other side” of the veil who make her feel like everything's going to be all right. Unfortunately, those same friends drive a wedge further in her relationship with her partner, who wants nothing to do with the spirit world. This would be okay were it not for the fact the spirit world is trying desperately to reach him, and Josie is their only conduit. You can't fix healthcare with ideology. We need practical solutions. Dr. Henry Buchwald (@Dr. Buchwald), believes our healthcare system is upside down! After 60 years as a surgeon and educator, this 90-year-old doctor is doing everything he can to educate people in the USA on why the healthcare system needs them to change it. In this podcast, he discusses what he has seen in his decades of practice and his new book, Healthcare Upside Down. “Healthcare needs to be treated with respect.” - Henry Buchwald Key Takeaways: Broken Medical Care: According to Dr. Henry Buchwald, the United States medical system is broken. The doctor-patient relationship could be more varied and consistent. Instead, it is almost non-existent. Insurance companies are profiting from people's illnesses. The USA is way behind in statistics overall for our medical care and advancements. It's a business model where doctors are interchangeable, and patient care needs to be improved. Healthcare and Life: Our life from birth involves health care. Growing up and achieving adulthood requires health care. Being able to live a mature life to work, to love, and to have children is dependent on health care. In the final chapter, aging can be made pleasurable by healthcare. Healthcare is, therefore, integral to life from beginning to end. Healthcare is not a commodity but a necessity. Fraternal Organizations for Healthcare: A not-for-profit member-owned healthcare insurance is one of the best ways to ensure you will be cared for by the company you pay a monthly per diem to. There are many out there, and many more collective organizations starting to pop up due to the need and demand from our underserved population in the USA. Finding our Collective Voice: Many individuals feel like they need a voice. If people can find a voice together, they will see the power in the collective. This can be done by looking at our immediate environments to see who owns the power structure. Utilizing leaders in our communities and working within organizations like our church or place of work can create a collective voice for the individual. Two men from Australia, two different motivations BUT very similar strange and parallel stories. You see Love, greed and lust can make a man do unwise things — and in todays episode we've got a pair of stories about just that, you'll need to hear to believe.
On episode 435 of The Nurse Keith Show nursing and healthcare career podcast, Keith interviews Dr. Henry Buchwald, a world-renowned surgeon, author, professor, and patient healthcare advocate who contends that it's entirely possible for us to turn our broken healthcare system right-side up to serve the best interests of both patients and clinicians, now and in the future. In the course of their conversation, Keith and Dr. Buchwald focus on the statistics, revelations, and suggestions for positive change outlined in his brilliant and highly readable new book, "Healthcare Upside Down: A Critical Examination of Policy and Practice". Dr. Henry Buchwald grew up in New York City, starting as a six-year-old helping to unload the daily catch of fish on the docks of Sheepshead Bay. After Columbia College, Medical School, and Internship, he served on flying status as the Base Flight Surgeon, Headquarters Strategic Air Command, now part of US Strategic Command, responsible with eleven other commands for strategic deterrence. Subsequently, he completed surgical residency at the University of Minnesota, including research for inaugurating the partial ileal bypass operation to lower cholesterol levels; he was the Principal Investigator for the $65 million dollar Program on the Surgical Control of the Hyperlipidemias Trial that was the first trial to demonstrate that cholesterol lowering decreases atherosclerotic heart disease, prevents heart attacks and peripheral vascular disease, actually regresses coronary artery lesions, and increases life expectancy. Dr. Buchwald stayed at the University of Minnesota for the rest of his career as Professor of Surgery and Biomedical Engineering, and the Owen H. and Sally Davidson Wangensteen Chair in Experimental Surgery. In his engineering endeavors, he was responsible for the invention for the first implantable drug infusion pump and the ubiquitous infusion port used by millions annually. He lives on the outskirts of Minneapolis with his wife, Emilie. He spends his private time horseback riding, writing, running, and swimming. The Buchwalds have four daughters, who, with their husbands, for the most part, live close by, enabling Henry and Emilie to enjoy their six grandchildren. Four hours northwest of the central city of Melbourne, located in the southeast region of the continent, lies the vast and protected 1.6 million-acre Alpine National Park. Known as the adventure lovers' dream, the park's mountains make up part of what is known as the Great Dividing Range and offer stunning views of towering ridges, lush wildflower valleys, and majestic waterfalls. Plenty of camping, skiing, and hiking can be enjoyed if one is so inclined. However excellent the travel brochure for the Australian Alps may sound, locals understand that the landscape can also be a nightmare for people who are not adequately prepared. Victoria is home to at least four venomous snakes and any number of bees, wasps, ticks, and spiders. So when a local farmer driving to town saw two half-naked, sunburnt people stumble on the road before him, he realized they must have been lost in the park and immediately stopped to help them. The couple, seventeen-year-old Carolynne Watson and twenty-two-year-old Julian Buchwald were taken to Buchan police station. One was an aggressive, no-holds-barred television interviewer. One was a newspaper columnist, who employed gentle satire to swipe at the rich and the powerful. Mike Wallace and Art Buchwald were leading media figures for fifty-plus years: Wallace as the co-host of "60 Minutes", Buchwald as the Washington Post humorist whose column was syndicated to over 500 newspapers. They went after the truth in very different ways, but they were the best of friends. They jokingly called themselves "The Blues Brothers" because they helped each other get through serious bouts of depression. Mike Wallace and Art Buchwald talk here about their childhoods (both were first-generation Americans) and share stories of the tragedies in their lives. They also describe how they got into the news business. No doubt you'll be amused to hear Wallace in the early days of radio, reading an ad for Mars Candy Bars!
