Screenwriter, producer, and musician Michael Box (Echo Eterna) joins Tiberius to talk indie filmmaking—from writing dystopian, neo-noir, and horror stories to producing on a budget and building creative teams. Michael shares the origin of his new project “Speak Easy” (a music-driven dystopia where self-expression is illegal), how ADHD fuels his creativity, and why leadership and collaboration matter as much as camera gear. Stick around for Math Corners (film budgeting math!) and Heart of a Lion (leadership in action).Discussion Points• What a screenwriter vs. producer actually does on a film• Why Michael loves dystopian, crime, and horror stories• The concept behind “Speak Easy” and writing music for the film's band• Making movies in Ohio and the realities of indie funding• Crafting story: starting with concept → characters → worldbuilding• On-set collaboration, rewrites, and checking ego at the door• ADHD as a creative superpower (focus, hyper-fixation, and systems)• Practical math on set: budgets, gear, and light/aperture ratios• Leadership for filmmakers: communication, conflict resolution, and integrityBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-tiberius-show--3352195/support.

To put it simply, Michael Leavy was born a filmmaker. Ever since he learned what a movie was he has dreamed of making them. Fortunately, it didn't take long for that dream to become a reality. Michael began shooting his own films and taught himself how to edit at an early age and has perfected his craft ever since. From the early days of using a paper-towel roll to scroll credits, all the way through mastering Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere, his passion has never left. Michael almost single-handedly ran his high school's television studio; anchoring the show each morning and creating more skits and short films than anyone else in the studio's history. Michael received his Bachelor's Degree in TV & Film from Saint John's University and also took graduate classes to further his knowledge. In 2010 Michael Leavy, along with his brother Jason Leavy and Steven Della Salla, established a production company, Fuzz on the Lens Productions. In 2014 Fuzz on the Lens' received worldwide fame with their viral 'Staten Island Clown" publicity stunt. Michael has directed/produced a comedy/fantasy entitled "Abnormal Attraction" starring Malcom McDowell, Gilbert Gottfried, Tyler Mane, Leslie Easterbrook, and academy award nominee Bruce Davison. Michael is most known for starring as 'Will the Exterminator' in the now cult classic original 'Terrifier". More recently, Michael was one of the Producers and the Assistant Director of the Top 10 Box Office success, "Terrifier 2" and is currently Directing / Producing Fuzz on the Lens Productions next horror feature, "Stream", which stars horror icons; Jeffrey Combs, Danielle Harris, Tony Todd, Tim Reid, Dee Wallace, Daniel Roebuck, Felissa Rose, Dave Sheridan, Mark Holton, Damian Maffei and Art the Clown himself, David Howard Thornton. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/steven-cuoco/support

This episode continues from Episode 338 and focuses on every Batman film. This episode covers the Dark Knight Trilogy, Ben Affleck's run on Batman, the Joker movie, and The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson. Michael Uslan has been the Executive Producer of every Batman film since 1989's Batman through today. His appearance in Episode 338 covered his acquisition of the Batman rights to the making of the 1989 Tim Burton Batman film through Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin. In this episode, Uslan returns to discuss how the failure of Batman & Robin lead to the hiring of Christopher Nolan to create Batman Begins. Uslan is also making several appearances at San Diego Comic-Con, working on a Comic-Con exhibit on The Life and Legacy of Stan Lee, and developing a Broadway show on his book The Boy Who Loved Batman. This episode is packed with stories and insight into an amazing career, and all the live-action Batman films since 1989.
The story of this special guest is so incredible he must tell it to believe it. Michael Uslan worked for DC Comics in the 1970s. In 1979, he and his business partner bought the film and TV rights to Batman with the intent of making a "dark" Batman movie. Previously, the only movie that had been made was the 1966 film based on the Adam West TV show. Still, Uslan has been the Executive Producer of every Batman film since 1989's Batman through 2022's The Batman. That includes the Tim Burton movies, the Joel Schumacher films, The Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman: The Animated Series, The Joker Movie, The Ben Affleck Batman movies, and even more. In this special episode, Uslan gives great details about how he acquired the rights to Batman. For someone who gives lectures and teaches courses, this episode attempted to ask questions of Uslan that were unique and interesting. Examples include: was there ever a conversation about trying to have Michael Keaton and Christopher Reeve onscreen together? How did Prince get involved in 1989's Batman movie? Was he supposed to score the film? What about the rumor that he could have played Robin in Batman Returns? This episode also includes the entire Joel Schumacher story, including the rumored "Schumacher Cut" of Batman Forever. This is Part 1 of 2. Uslan's next appearance will cover the Dark Knight Trilogy, Affleck, Joker, and more.
