Nice Girls Don't Get The Corner Office! We saboteren ons eigen succes. The opposite of a nice girl isn't a bitch — it's a winning woman. The difference is that a nice girl acts in ways that are designed to make others like her, and a winning woman acts in ways that ensure her goals are met by knowing what she wants, having clarity about where she's headed, and achieving both through high likability and emotional intelligence.”Evolueren van een “nice girl” naar een zelfverzekerde, krachtige vrouw, dus.

Hey good people! Happy Tuesday! I hope these last couple of weeks have been productive for you as we transition into the last quarter of 2021. I know, right? The year is almost over and we made it through another year and a half of trying to abide by CDC guidelines and then taking risks! (Wear your masks and continue to social distance, please). I also entered into my last year of business school so I am equally excited about what is to come for Nails by Rah and Confessions of a Nail Tech. Speaking of which, I did some research on my most listened to the episode and the number of subscribers and follows that I have gained since I started this podcast last year and I am truly amazed! I cannot express enough gratitude for you all because again, without listeners, I'm just another professional with a podcast, so thank you! After doing some research I found that the most listened-to episode was Episode 5 from Season 2, “Why is my Full-set So expensive?” You all must really like this one! I wanted to do an episode to recap on the way to work the price into your service without setting off your clients. We learned in that episode that you must set your price and do not bend the rules. Yes, we are here to provide nail services, but we are also here to make a profit. Finally - a not only-nice girl! After all, the only nice ones don’t get rich and they definitely don’t get the corner office. It was a thrill to have Lois Frankel join me for a conversation on Meet the Macs. Lois, an ex-therapist, is an executive coach, an author, an evocative thinker, and the founder of the MOSTE and Bloom Again Foundations. Our time together was far too brief but was replete with recognition and powerful insights. Why don’t women speak up or stand out? What’s so important about being polite? We discussed these limitations - the ones we place on ourselves – along with women’s tendency to use far too many words. Why do we do this? Do we really think we have to explain? And how can we communicate better? Lois navigates this “thin pink line” with aplomb, with handholds for when to stop. She clarifies how headline communication can help us get our messages across. Number, sort, categorize, be more structured. Combining eastern face-saving and western assertive approaches, she sketches a brilliant rejoinder to all those condescending mansplainers out there (you know who you are) who interrupt and appropriate ideas. Want to learn how to have a difficult conversation? More than the challenges and limitations we talk about women these days, how do we encourage women to take concrete steps to be more intentional and strategic in their growth and achieving their goals?  We say, vouch for her, recommend her, speak well of her, and encourage her to be bold to take those steps to invest in herself.   Raquel Ramirez has an 18-year background in the public, private and international sectors, including prominent roles held in the Mexican Foreign Ministry to the United Nations. She is known as a keynote speaker globally, including in the USA, Mexico, Switzerland, and China.  In this episode, Raquel shares that women can achieve more beyond their expectations. With the right insight, support, and guidance, they can take on more risks to be more relevant to the community. That women hold power within them to make significant contributions to the world. And more importantly, that they will likely more to succeed if they invest and bet on themselves.    What you will learn from this episode:  Find out what mistakes women mostly commit so they know how to get clear on their strengths and talents so they likely succeed faster Find out valuable resources for more women support and uplifting for them to be able to succeed in a much faster way Learn how women can create an impression of being confident and having something of value and importance to say  “The fundamental ground to build on is self-awareness. Just know that your mistakes don't define you; the lessons do.” - Raquel Ramirez Topics Covered:  01:45 - What for her is an ideal client?  02:07 - The problem that Raquel responds to: The gap between what women are achieving today and what women can be achieving.   03:24 - Symptoms of the problem women find themselves in: Women are feeling overwhelmed, unseen, unheard, a lot of times unsupported, or with the lack of having strategies on how to achieve their goals.  04:06 - Mistakes she believes women do: Not asking for help, being afraid to be vulnerable, but ultimately, and more fundamentally, not actively seeking a mentor or a coach.  04:46 - What consolidating self-awareness can do to start solving women’s problems. 05:24 - A three-day FREE masterclass you can look forward to in December entitled ‘How To Get the Top Six Skills in Order to Improve your Career.' I believe that one of the mistakes is not asking for help, being afraid to be vulnerable, but ultimately, and more fundamentally, the mistake of not actively seeking a mentor or a coach.”  - Raquel Ramirez  “The beginning of solving this problem is consolidating a self-awareness. I encourage people to get clear on their strengths and talents and start holding them today.” - Raquel Ramirez  “How do we as women make our presence felt in different conference rooms? Be ready to be between the first and the third person to speak when you're in the meeting because this creates an impression of being confident and having something of value and importance to say.” - Raquel Ramirez  “I truly believe in the impact that using affirmations in overcoming our difficulties can do.” - Raquel Ramirez  Resources:  A three-day FREE masterclass you can look forward to in December entitled ‘How To Get the Top Six Skills in Order to Improve your Career.' Welcome back, I keep getting asked, "How do I get motivated to change my job?" Well, I have three ways that will help YOU get motivated, starting TODAY. 1- Read/ Listen to books, podcasts, & YouTube videos. You should be filling any extra time that you have with motivation. Any time that you're driving, showering, cooking, cleaning, getting ready, or yard work. You are a conglomerate of the 5 closest people in your life, let motivational audio be one of those 5 and help lift you up. 2- Write down something that you will do TODAY that will get you one step closer to your dream career. It can be as simple as canceling my event on Friday so I can work on my resume. Or it could be sign up for the class or course in the field I want to be in. 3- Find yourself a motivational/ accountability partner. This person can be a current friend of yours, or you can find one online, but they must be at your level or above you, don't select someone that you have to pull up right now. Here are some books that have helped me in the past to help build confidence, keep me motivated and help me to grow. Brian Tracy- Close That Sale Peter Diamandis & Steven Kolter- Abundance The Future Is Better Than You Think Rachel Hollis- Girl, Wash Your Face Ben Horowitz- The Hard Thing About Hard Things Jen Sincero- You Are A Badass John Mason- An Enemy Called Average (This is one of the best books I’ve ever read!) Atul Gawande- The Checklist Manifesto Joe Navarro- What Every Body Is Saying Simon Sinek- Start With Why Richard Koch- The 80/20 Manager Brian Tracy- Just Shut Up and DO IT! Al Ritter- The 100/0 Principle David Zerfoss- Stress Is A Choice Omar Periu- The No-Fail Meeting Brian Tracy- Eat That Frog Sally Hogshead- How The World Sees You Carmine Gallo- Talk Like TED Brian Tracy- The Psychology of Selling Dale Carnegie & Associates- The Art of Effective Communication Lois P. Frankel, PhD- Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office Michael Masterson- Ready, Fire, Aim Grant Cardone- If You’re Not First, You’re Last Jon Acuff- Do Over Robin Ryan- 60 Seconds & You’re Hired Dan Harris- 10% Happier Podcasts that I listen to are... Brooke Castillo- The Life Coach School (this is super, even if you don't want to be a life coach!) Kathy Heller- Don't Keep Your Day Job Gary Vaynerchuk- The Garyvee Audio Experience Chris Guillebeau- Side Hustle School Jenna Kutcher- Goal Digger Amanda Boleyn- She Did It Her Way Amy Porterfield- Online Marketing Made Easy I also mentioned in the podcast that.... (I'm hesitant to even say this...) I'm offering my Career Elevation Course for $47 if you prepay. The course will be released on November 15th, and the price will never ever be $47 again. In this course, you will learn how to set yourself aside from the other resumes, update your references, cover letter, help with interview questions and even what you should wear to an interview. Complete with Amazon links to buy some of the clothing, seriously, there isn't a course out there this complete, get in line now!
