We believe that great experiences build great leaders and great leaders build great teams; Neil Fairley is a prime example of that very belief. Due to his parents being unable to afford the life he wanted, Neil went to work at a very young age and since then hasn't looked back. From starting on the street selling socks, owning a business, losing it all, migrating to the US and starting something new Neil has been a prime example of what it means to never give up. With a God given ability to quickly gain and ingraft knowledge from others, Neil has taken his experience in door to door sales, import and exports, marketing and a plethora of other ventures and has built and continuing to build a legacy and impact that will be immeasurable!Neil's journey is the ultimate proof that success is not a straight line, it's a zigzag. He faced a lot of obstacles and challenges, but he never gave up. Instead, he used those experiences to grow and adapt. He is a perfect example of how perseverance and resilience can help you overcome anything that comes your way. Jordana Edwards is founder of Clean Tea Australia and The Breastfeeding Tea Co. Clean Tea was created in 2013 in collaboration with her naturopath mother, Jordana first sold Clean Tea at the markets in Byron Bay before growing her “little tea stall” into a multimillion dollar ecommerce global business.Listed as one of the 2020 Remodista International “Women to Watch” in business disruption, as well as being a nominee as a Facebook “Community Leader” for her work training, mentoring and supporting women in business in her local and rural area. Jordana has been guest speaker at acclaimed events for Business Chicks and Facebook and has also held a seat on the Facebook Australia Small Business council for many years, where she is an active advocate for building a successful ecommerce brand on social media. She was featured in a live video - filmed by Facebook at her HQ in Byron Bay - for the Facebook Australia website initiative “Boost with Facebook”, in which she was asked to share her expertise on how to create successful boosted posts for beginners to the social media platform. As a champion of women's health and wellbeing, Clean Tea's blends - proudly created by the Mother/ Daughter team -sold over 6 million cups of tea a year, taking Jordana from market stall holder to eCommerce queen. It was her breakthrough product however, known simply as Colic Tea - which went on to be dubbed the “Miracle Tea” by thousands of mothers Australia wide, after helping over 50,000 women with colicky babies to date - that lead Jordana to create The Breastfeeding Tea Co. brand, which she launched in 2020, in the middle of lockdown! Due to her son being diagnosed with a serious illness, Jordana made the difficult decision to sell Clean Tea in 2021 to a disability enterprise, establishing Clean Tea as a chari-TEA ! Jordana's second brand The Breastfeeding Tea Co is yet another success story. As well as a multimillion dollar brand in just under 18 months, The Breastfeeding Tea Co has just one simple purpose - to help support women through their breastfeeding journey with simple, effective and natural breastfeeding teas and lactation hot chocolates. To add to her astounding career, Jordana was named the 2022 National Ausmumpreneur of the Year, as well as receiving 5 other gold and silver trophies at this year's Sydney event. Finalist in the Small Business Champion Awards, the Roar Awards, She-Com awards, and the Gold Coast Woman of the Year, there is no stopping this powerhouse business woman. One of the most effective ways for me to implement a new habit or to achieve a big goal that I set is to ensure that I have some sort of accountability framework supporting me. Whether that be a person, or people, formal or informal or it might be an App that I need to report into every week. Having these points of accountability helps to keep me on track. So it's little wonder that when Nic McClanachan told me about her business; The Accountability Circle, I was there in a heartbeat. The Accountability Circle is a framework that allows female business owners to connect, challenge themselves, make a commitment and get support. So why is the notion of being held accountable such a powerful tool when it comes to helping us achieve in life? Find out in this episode with the lovely Nic McClanachan. Website: https://accountabilitycircle.com.au/ About Jane Hillsdon I'm a passionate award-winning marketer dedicated to helping small business owners make good decisions about their marketing. I am the founder and CEO of a marketing agency called Dragonfly Marketing PLUS the founder of the How to do Marketing Academy. I'm also the author of How To Do Marketing – A Comprehensive Guide For Small Business. It's my mission to ensure that marketing is on the agenda for every regionally based small business in Australia. Why? Because I know that when marketing is done properly, it can help your business grow. On the marketing front, I am a Certified Practicing Marketer (CPM), a member of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) NSW Committee and a head judge for the AMI Awards for Excellence. I was awarded the Small Budget Marketing Award at the AMI Awards for Marketing Excellence in 2017, 2018 and 2019. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
When I say #yaysofourlives has a looser structure than our OG interviews, I took it to all new levels today chatting for probably half an hour before I asked the first question. But, with the inimitable Emma Isaacs jumping back on the show who I haven't seen forever AND who has written her second, brand new book with SO MUCH painfully relevant content to cover, I'm surprised I even got to my questions at all! If you haven't heard Emma's backstory yet, head back to episode 11 to hear how she has blazed a trail for female entrepreneurs (and all entrepreneurs for that matter) since the age of 18 leading her to become the founder and global CEO of Business Chicks. If you follow me at all, you'll know what a huge impact Emma and her team have had on me both professionally and in all areas of who I am as a person and I'll forever be indebted for the opportunities and connections they have made possible in my life (including the fact that Emma had faith enough in Seize the Yay to jump on the show just 11 episode in). In this chat, we just have a good old catch up with bursts of me gushing about her brilliant second book, The New Hustle, in between. You'll probably tell that once I get started, I keep linking idea after idea making my way through almost the whole book before realising I haven't even asked about quote of the yay – but that's why it's such a timely read with 77 amazing messages about navigating times of challenge and change. Emma is one of the women I look up to most in the world and to have her in your ears at a time like this is so invaluable, so I hope you enjoy and take as much out of her as I do. She is at once impeccably professional and wise as well as a totally open book about parenting six kids or having breakdowns on the daily – the relatable content we all need to hear. Today's is a guest who I count as one of my favourite speakers of all time who I was lucky enough to hear from on Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island during our incredible trip with Business Chicks. I have been hoping to share her infectious enthusiasm, energetic storytelling and MIND-BLOWING story since that moment two years ago and am SO excited to finally share her with you now. It's probably no surprise that Diana Nyad ended up as a marathon swimmer given that her surname means water nymph in Greek mythology (which I know because it was the name of one of my high school houses). With many achievements in competitive swimming over her lifetime, it was an idea that hit her at 9 years old to swim from Cuba to Florida that never left her. Starting from 2010, Diana began the journey to swim of over 50 hours through freezing, shark and jellyfish infested waters making not one but FIVE attempts before successfully covering the 180km and get this… at 64 YEARS OLD. As Hilary Clinton puts it perfectly, when you're facing big challenges in your life you can think about Diana and nearly anything else seems doable by comparison. Before we jump in, I just wanted to throw a very big shout out to Emma Isaacs and the Business Chicks team again for continually creating invaluable, unforgettable experiences for so many of us and making some of the world's most fascinating and inspiring people accessible like Diana to its members. If you aren't already a member, I can't recommend anything more highly for seizing your yay so SIGN UP HERE. I hope you are as invigorated by this one as I am and please excuse a bit scratchier audio than usual – the tech woes got us good but in true Diana fashion we pressed on.
