Brooke Boney had one of the best gigs in the world. For years, we woke up with her on morning TV. It was a job that changed her life—until one morning, she made a decision that would change her life again. She announced, live on air, that she was done. Not just with breakfast television, but with Australia. She was heading overseas to study at Oxford. She’s back in Australia now - wiser, thoughtful, and unsure of what her next move will be. She’s collected her wisdom in a new book, All Of It, and that pretty much sums up this special episode of No Filter. In this conversation, you’ll hear Kate & Brooke discuss: Fame & Stalkers (yes, plural) Why Brooke loves sport so much Family, Fertility, and Love Being the first Indigenous woman on commercial TV So much more… You can find Brooke’s book, All Of It, here:https://www.allenandunwin.com/browse/book/Brooke-Boney-All-of-It-9781761068003 You can follow Brooke on Instagram, here: https://www.instagram.com/boneybrooke/ THE END BITS: Listen to more No Filter interviews here and follow us on Instagram here. They’ll even be delivered straight to your inbox every FRIDAY morning: http://eepurl.com/dsjXO1 Books we mention/LOVE:Being of Power by Baron Baptiste: 40 Days to Your Personal Revolution by Baron Baptiste: Show Notes Free Downloads : True North Guide & Visualization Meditation Fear Definition: The uncertainty of the unknown; you're not afraid of the dark, you're afraid of what's in it. It's not the contrast of light, it's the unknowing, the things your mind creates, you're afraid of what you don't know, and you don't know what you don't know. Fear creates stress which in small doses is beneficial because it keeps you grounded and focused but if you let it consume you it could destroy you. True North Definition: The actual definition of True North is "North according to the earth's axis, not magnetic north." Magnetic north pulls the needle of the compass to the direction that isn't accurate. If you look at a compass and it points north, it isn't necessarily true, because the earth's magnetic poles are not fixed. This applies to us as well. Our true north is not necessarily what we have at face value. We're given an idea of what we're supposed to be attracted to, i.e. gossip, materialism, things we don’t need, image, status, income, and these things pull us further away from our true north, the things that make us feel whole, actualized, energized. Our true north is the real measure of success and these things, the magnetic north, pulls us away from the direction we should be going according to our heart and inspiration. It's not to say magnetic north isn't important. You can use this to find your true north, but you have to remember that there is a balance, they work together. How they connect: True North & Fear ride together in the same vehicle while on the same journey. It is so important to see this distinction and that it’s never one or the other. By turning on the light to your True North you’re unveiling the Fear that rides along with it. Instead of turning away when fear shows up, we can use it as a tool to manifest our dreams. We can use it as a way to dive deeper into the way we operate when push comes to shove. Fear can have a voice that says “Are you sure you want to do this?” and maybe it will have some good points. It can also say “you’re not qualified for this” so maybe that pushes you to grab more information. Fear can have a voice, but the only thing it can’t do, is drive.
Hey ya'll! We are rolling through our "Chakra 101" series and we are on the 4th major Chakra, the Heart Chakra! Also known as the Anahata (and also has at least 8 other names and alternate colors!), this chakra deals with all things LOVE such as Unconditional love, familial and friend love, love for humanity/plants/animals/etc. I want to be very clear and acknowledge that the Heart Chakra is not solely synonymous with romantic love. There's so many different facets of Love that are worth experiencing! :-) It also represents love even for your "enemies" or those who may not like you so much. I was actually tested and had to use my Heart Chakra more to counterbalance the negative energy, I briefly touch on this in this episode as well, LOL. I also explain on how the death of a loved one inadvertently made this Chakra my favorite one. I know a lot of you see me as a "Love Being" and that is pretty accurate. I have love for everything and everybody. But, I wasn't always this loving... but through such a loss I was able to truly activate and use my Heart Chakra at it's highest potential. If you have lost someone and it has affected your ability to love, I highly suggest you listen to this episode as well. ;-) There are some tips on how to heal , activate and balance the Heart chakra through different methods and tools, as well as a BONUS CHAKRA included in tonight's episode! ;-) Happy Listening, Spiritual Homegirl --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/spiritualhomegirl/support
PJ Simmons Jaime Jay welcomes PJ Simmons to today's podcast. P.J. Simmons is the founder and director of Gospel Driven Entrepreneur and the host of the Gospel Driven Entrepreneur podcast. His heart is to equip entrepreneurs in connecting their faith to their work, intentionally engaging culture to bring about the kingdom of heaven on earth. P.J. lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife Ashley. Love Being a Husband and an Entrepreneur PJ just got married four short months ago as of the date of this recording. He is loving life and loving his business. Over the last 5 or 6 years, PJ has been in the non-profit space. The trajectory is not making a lot of money. PJ had an idea to create an opportunity to provide for his new family. He really wanted to learn about entrepreneurship. When PJ talks to entrepreneurs, he loves asking wantrepreneurs: What is your passion? How can you leverage your enjoyment? What is your ultimate goal? Identifying where they need to be in order to plan for the transition. One thing that PJ did with Gospel Driven Entrepreneur was spending the time to build an audience. His idea came from the question from figuring out where you need and want to be. PJ Found Podcasting The thought process for PJ a passion project, being a follower of Jesus, to help business owners intersecting the two worlds of work and faith. He wanted to help these leaders bridge the gap. When he started out, he tried to figure out a way to build a platform that was both affordable and easy to consume. He had to learn how network. He identified what his skills were by listening to what others said about him. He then figured out a way to put his best talents to use for others. PJ really enjoys engaging with his audience. Half the battle of building a brand is simply listening. PJ accomplishes this by engaging with his audience in a variety of different ways. Figuring out what the pain points of his audience is came from sending out surveys, phone calls, and answering questions every moment he could On the back end, PJ creates products and services to grow his business. PJ really thinks a thriving business comes down to a servant leadership perspective. Many entrepreneurs are really at a disadvantage when they go into business without a focus on serving. This is what drives PJ's motivation. PJ is not teaching his clients about Jesus. What PJ believes is that God has uniquely made us with certain passions and skill sets. As a follower of Jesus, PJ feels he has a responsibility to share his ability to help others identify their strengths. When I heard Chris Ducker talk about what he does in the Philippines, I was floored. I heard him on John Lee Dumas' Entrepreneur on Fire Podcast. He helps people hire Virtual Assistants from the Philippines. He also owns other businesses and manages his own brand which is huge! He has a family and a life because he figured out how to be efficient and spend time on the things he is good at. Smart. I am thinking about hiring a Virtual Assistant to help me with this podcast because of Chris' influence, and you know what? I will probably be hiring a VA from Chris' company because I trust him and his passion to help others. I picked 10 Reasons to Love Being an Entrepreneur because I love being an Entrepreneur and I love all of the reasons he gives. Being an Entrepreneur is amazing. So, listen to the post and be inspired. I hope this post from Chris brings you joy.
