For today's episode, I wanted to do something a little different. I received a question from a listener about how to properly transition through your fitness journey, so I'm diving into that here! When it comes to your fitness journey, there's never just one way (or a ‘right' way) to do things - it needs to be super personalized to YOU and your goals. In regards to fitness, the 3 phases you'll typically go through are building, maintenance, and cutting. It's important to know how your body is going to feel during each of these phases, and what your nutrition and workouts are going to look like. Most of all, this process is going to take TIME. If you're not seeing progress right away (especially during a deficit or ‘cut' phase), you've got to stick with it, and be patient with the process!Fitness is fairly simple, but it's NEVER going to look the exact same for every person. I don't want you to get stuck on all of the ‘rules' you've seen and heard along the way. There can be sooo much noise out there (especially online), and not all of it is going to be applicable to you!Whether you're looking to build muscle, lose fat, or maintain your current physique, I hope this episode encourages you AND gives you *real* insight into what coaching with me looks like!!In this episode, we cover:The many ‘rules' surrounding fitness + why there isn't just ONE way to do what's best for youA current listener's question + experience with her fitness journeyWhat it feels like to go from maintenance to surplusWhat to do when you're ready to move into a deficit or ‘cut' phaseWhat transitioning back to maintenance can look like + why you can still see body recomp changes hereProgressive overload + why you need to stop overcomplicating thisWhy you shouldn't compare your progress & journey to othersLinks/Resources:Ep. 23 | Progressive Overload: What It Is, and How It Can Help You See the Results You Want on Your Fitness JourneyJoin FIT CLUB, my monthly membership with workouts you can do at home or the gymPRIVATE COACHING is my 1:1 program (choose 3 or 6 month option)Connect with me on Instagram @kristycastillofit and @unfuckyourfitnesspodcast so we can keep this conversation going-be sure to tag me in your posts and stories!Join my FREE Facebook group, Unf*ck Your FitnessClick HERE for my favorite fitness & life things!Send me a text with episode ideas or just to say hi!

235 – What does it even mean to be filled with God's fullness? In his letter to the Ephesians, at the end of Chapter 3, Paul prays that the church members would know the love of Christ and be filled with all the fullness of God.But is that even possible? Most Christians I talk to think that's the sort of thing that happens after they die and go to heaven. But Paul is praying for the Ephesians to experience here on earth. In this week's episode, I talk about Paul's prayer (there's a lot more in there that applies to you and me as well). Fortunately Paul gives some really helpful guidance in chapters 4, 5, and 6, which helps prepare us to be able to receive the fullness of God.You know this passage, (Ephesians 4:22-24) but think about it as a roadmap to experiencing the love of Christ and the fullness of God.Put off your old sinful nature, which is corrupt and deceitfulBe renewed by the Spirit in your mindPut on your new self, created to be like God, truly righteous and holyHow do we put off our sinful nature? Paul makes it sound so simple. In this episode I share two key points that will help you let go of the sin mindset and embrace the mindset of holiness and righteousness. Your sin does not define youA previous episode mentioned this week has some great insights on how to get rid of your sinful nature, change your mindset, and accept your true identity as a child of God. Tomorrow is the winter solstice, or the shortest day of the year. In a season when we get fewer than nine hours of light each day, you may be looking for indoor projects to curl up with. Sisters Youa and Wone Vang are the artists behind the embroidery business Third Daughter, Restless Daughter. Their work is a mix of darkly funny cross-stitches and big floral decorations that have gone up in exhibits and restaurants. The pair is currently bringing together hundreds of cross-stitched squares into what they are calling the World's Largest Paj Ntaub. Paj ntaub means “flower cloth” and it's a traditional Hmong artform. Youa and Wone Vang joined MPR News host Cathy Wurzer to talk about their project, which is a fundraiser for the Hmong Museum's new space on University Avenue in St. Paul.Use the audio player above to listen to the full conversation.Subscribe to the Minnesota Now podcast on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. This episode is your secret weapon to enjoy more food with less guilt, shame, and regret! So much of life centers around food. Holidays, celebrations, grieving, we use high calorie food for all of it. Sadly, this is also the exact time that most people feel most convicted about being overweight or their lack of success with losing weight. Then we eat a bunch of wonderful food with a bunch of terrible thoughts going through our head. Guilt, shame, and regret swirl into a toxic mix that causes us to not really enjoy some really delicious food. If you've experienced this, I'm sorry. There is another way. I want to help you avoid the pitfalls and enjoy delicious food more than ever. So if you want to know . . .What REALLY messes you up on holidays (it's not what you think!)The crappy approach that so many people accidentally takeAn “on-off” trap that you might've already thought aboutThe emotion that you *think* is helping, but really sabotages youA secret weapon to enjoy more food and have less guiltThis episode is for you! In this episode of Take-Away with Sam Oches, Sam talks with Maria Rivera, CEO of Smalls Sliders, an Atlanta-based chain with eight locations that was founded by Brandon Landry, who also started Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux. Maria, who was formerly the president of Krispy Kreme, was brought in to accelerate Smalls' growth, which is helped along by a unique expansion strategy in which Smalls is having modular shipping-container units built off-site and delivered to their plots. Maria was a panelist at NRN's recent CREATE Road Show in Atlanta, and Sam met her at the Smalls headquarters to talk about the brand's unique restaurants — which the company calls “cans” — as well as how Smalls Sliders is taking a page out of Walk-On's book while maintaining its own brand identity. In this conversation, you'll find out why:There is power in one-product brandsA great founder plus great financial partner plus great product equals great opportunityModular store construction is the efficient expansion strategy of the future Efficiency is simplification and simplification is hardIf you're planning fast expansion, make sure your vendors are willing to come on the journey with youA sister brand to a successful concept can ride its coattails — to a pointA vulnerable, accessible CEO has a sense of how quickly a brand can growEmerging brand leadership teams must stay humble to build a healthy companyHave feedback or ideas for Take-Away?
