Mention the Ring Brothers to any enthusiast that cherishes and adores modified, and coach build muscle cars, and odds are the reactions you'll get will be quite good. For almost two decades brothers Mike and Jim Ring have redefined what muscle cars could be in ways few could have imagined. They're first build happened in 2005. It was a 1967 Ford Mustang known as REACTOR and when the public got wind of it, they knew then and there, that the Ring Brothers where here to stay.   Since then, the brothers have created some of the most memorable and stunning muscle cars the world has ever seen. Case in point, this year's 2023 SEMA show, where the brother's debuted two new creations. The first was TUSK, a stunning 1969 Dodge Charger complete with a 1,000 horsepower Hellephant crate engine under the hood, and the second was Paramount, a 1961 Classic Rolls Royce with a 640bhp supercharged LT4.   On this episode of the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ Podcast Mike Ring joins host Mike Musto to talk about how the Ring Brothers got started, and how, after almost two decades in business, they've got no plans of slowing down.

Direct injection has many benefits for OEM applications, but it isn't as easily customised as port injection options on some platforms. Why is this the case, and what can we do about it?Use ‘PODCAST75' for $75 off your first HPA course here: https://hpcdmy.co/hpa-tuned-inDue to the nature of direct injection and how it operates in a GM application, it simply isn't a matter of adding aftermarket injectors and turning up the fueling like we often can with port injection, given that DI fuel pumps in GMs LT engines are camshaft driven. Michael Sitar of TooHighPsi has an option for GM LT V8 owners that can take the LT1 and LT4 variates beyond their 600hp and 700hp ceiling imposed by the stock direct injection system without dealing with camshaft complications, and that is done by adding port injection and tapping into the factory GM ECU's CAN Bus data stream. At this stage customers are up in the 1400hp regions with some drag applications with plenty of margin left in their injector duty cycles for future development and additional power potential.

Functional Medicine Research with Dr. Nikolas Hedberg
Should You Avoid Dairy if You Have Hashimoto’s Disease?

Functional Medicine Research with Dr. Nikolas Hedberg

In the last several months, we’ve examined how certain supplements such as vitamin D, genistein, cordyceps and inositol impact Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Today, we’re going to investigate how dairy—in the form of lactose—affects Hashimoto's disease. Specifically, I’m going to be addressing these two points:   1. How avoiding dairy helps Hashimoto’s disease 2. How dairy affects the absorption of thyroid medication Background Before launching into our discussion, let’s talk briefly about lactose intolerance and what happens in the body when one has a sensitivity to lactose, the naturally occurring sugar in dairy products. Lactose intolerance is a disorder of the small intestine that results from reduced lactase enzymatic activity that in optimal situations would break down lactose into the simpler sugars: glucose and galactose. The papers published by Montalto et al. (2006) and Lomer et al. (2007) examined this condition in great depth. Behind-the-scenes, what you find in lactose intolerance is that lactose cannot be readily digested by the body. Lactose begins to accumulate in the small intestine which then leads to bacterial overgrowth, gas formation and an altered intestinal environment which may cause damage or injury to the intestinal villi. As you may recall from high school biology class, villi are the tiny structures lining the intestinal wall that allow nutrients to be absorbed. What’s problematic for those with Hashimoto’s disease is that lactose intolerance, by impairing intestinal absorption, could disrupt the circulation of thyroid medication. This has serious implications so let’s go to the first study that examines how restricting dairy consumption could help Hashimoto’s disease. The first research article I reviewed was published in the journal Endocrine in 2014 and was entitled “Decrease in TSH levels after lactose restriction in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis patients with lactose intolerance.” The authors had noticed that existing research on the prevalence of lactose intolerance in patients with hypothyroidism was lacking. There were also no studies on the effect of restricting dairy/lactose consumption in Hashimoto’s patients who took thyroid medication (which we shall refer to as ‘LT4’ moving forward). The authors carried out this study for a twofold purpose: 1. to determine the frequency of lactose intolerance in patients with hypothyroidism and 2. to examine the effects of lactose restriction on thyroid function in Hashimoto’s patients with lactose intolerance. How was the study done? Eighty-three patients with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis who had taken L-thyroxine (LT4) over a minimum of three years were initially enrolled. Lactose intolerance tests were then administered to all subjects. The researchers found that lactose intolerance was diagnosed in 75.9% of the patients with Hashimoto’s. If you think about it, that’s a pretty large percentage of the Hashimoto’s test population. For this study, patients who used the following medications were excluded: Raloxifene Bile-binding acids Cholestyramine Orlistat Colestipol Proton pump inhibitors Any preparations including iron, aluminum or calcium Additionally, patients with the following conditions were excluded: Pregnancy Diabetes Celiac disease and/or other related alimentary tract disorders such as occult or overt inflammatory bowel disease Previous bowel resection surgery The 83 patients were split into two groups: one group consisted of 63 patients with lactose intolerance. The remaining 20 patients had no lactose intolerance. Both groups were put on a dairy-restricted diet with particular emphasis in the morning. The thyroid medication (LT4) was taken while fasting and subjects had to wait one hour before eating. What lab tests were measured? Levels of TSH, fT4, calcium and parathormone (PTH) were measured in all study participants both at the ...

Dr. Ruscio Radio: Health, Nutrition and Functional Medicine

When you're sick and want to feel better, options like taking medication seem rather attractive. One thing to be aware of, is the over-prescribing of thyroid medication. Many people do not need to be on Thyroid medication for life or at all. Unfortunately, over-diagnosis is becoming too common. One study looking at the overuse of Levothyroxine Replacement Therapy, found that 60% of those on LT4 did not need to be taking it. The study concluded that the diagnosis needs to be more firmly established before treatment initiation and to undertake periodic evaluation of all patients on chronic LT4 treatment. https://drruscio.com/?p=27634 My new book is finally available: Healthy Gut, Healthy You. In this interview, Dr. Hennessey describes the history, refinements, implementation, physiology, and clinical outcomes achieved over the past several centuries of thyroid hormone replacement strategies. Dangers of hypothyroidism during pregnancy Prescribed 3-step process when hypothyroidism is treated when pregnant The history of sheep thyroid as a treatment? In the 1920’s thyroid hormone was synthesized T3 was synthesized in the 1950’s When to take thyroid medication, morning or night? A rich history of physician intervention in thyroid dysfunction was identified dating back more than 2 millennia. Although not precisely documented, thyroid ingestion from animal sources had been used for centuries but was finally scientifically described and documented in Europe over 130 years ago. Since the reports by Bettencourt and Murray, there has been a continuous documentation of outcomes, refinement of hormone preparation production, and updating of recommendations for the most effective and safe use of these hormones for relieving the symptoms of hypothyroidism. As the thyroid extract preparations contain both levothyroxine (LT4) and liothyronine (LT3), current guidelines do not endorse their use as controlled studies do not clearly document enhanced objective outcomes compared with LT4 monotherapy. Among current issues cited, the optimum ratio of LT4 to LT3 has yet to be determined, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not appear to be monitoring the thyroid hormone ratios or content in extract preparations on the market. Taken together, these limitations are important detriments to the use of thyroid extract products. Aun así he estado investigando. Me explico.

Me explico.
