What if we told you that the Port Arthur Massacre wasn't just a tragedy—but a blueprint? In this week's ReWired episode, host Dani steps into the psychological wreckage and bureaucratic blind spots surrounding one of the deadliest mass shootings in modern history. Building on Brian's factual breakdown in The Guilty Files: Uncovered, this episode doesn't just revisit April 28th, 1996—it reimagines the fault lines that led there. Across nine speculative acts, Dani dissects the cracks in the system, the red flags that never escalated, and the moments where intervention could have changed everything. With sociological insight, behavioral analysis, and real talk from her years as an Atlanta beat cop, Dani pulls no punches—and adds plenty of bite. In This Episode:
On April 28th, 1996, the peaceful seascape of Port Arthur, Tasmania, became the site of the worst mass shooting in Australia's history. In this week's Uncovered episode, Brian walks us through the chilling timeline of the Port Arthur Massacre—44 minutes that left 35 people dead and 23 wounded. With a methodical breakdown of the shooter's movements, the weapons used, and the immediate law enforcement response, Brian lays out the cold, hard facts of a case that shocked the world and forever changed Australia's gun laws. From the haunting lead-up to the attack to the manhunt and eventual arrest of Martin Bryant, this episode dissects the known details with the precision and clarity you've come to expect from Uncovered. No speculation. No dramatization. Just the truth, as grim and devastating as it is.If you've ever wondered how one day can reshape a nation, this case is a sobering example.

Port Arthur is a name synonymous with Australia's worst modern-day massacre: 35 murdered, and 25 wounded. On that day, Phil Pyke was in his early 30s and became part of the story: his job, to guard the hospital room of the shooter, Martin Bryant. He speaks of how challenging that was, his time in the police and army, how his mental health started to spiral - and how it's his golden retrievers that helped him find his way back.

Today we have an interesting one for you, dear listeners. I initially thought Martin Bryant was going to be anger inducing when Tim heard his story, but it turns out, it's way more sad. You really start to feel bad for the guy. Then some real awful shit goes down and who knows what to think. But this guy's life had a huge ripple effect that changed an entire country. Not one of the good ones though, or one that matters, but still. Enjoy!

The Australian film Nitram dramatises the events leading up to the 1996 Port Arthur Massacre. In a wide ranging discussion, director Justin Kurzel and screenwriter Shaun Grant discussed what inspired them to make a film about this real life tragedy, the themes they sought to explore, and the similarities and differences to their earlier films Snowtown and Snowtown and The True History of the Kelly Gang.
Work. Ugh. Nephews visited for icy poles in the afternoon. I made [nephew] a jackfruit sandwich that had tomato in it. [nephew] said that he liked the tomato even though he thought he didn't like tomato at all. He proudly showed off eating a slice of tomato to his mum. Very cool and hopefully a lesson will have been learned - try things sometimes, even if you don't think you'll like it. [older relative] took a fall and had to go to hospital. Bit sad to think about. But that's life, I suppose. She'll be ‘right. Went for a swim. Hat trick of beach swims each day. Huzzah. I can actually see how people could find swimming in the ocean therapeutic. Watched the Martin Bryant movie, Nitram. Very good. I'm bloody covered in mosquito bites. Fucking hell. M: 5. E: 4.

Our 1st Special Father's Day bonus episode I sat down and had a chit chat with two amazing father's Antwain Jackson and Martin Bryant and they gave us some insight on how it's going in the Hood, that is Fatherhood. They both shared some awesome tips and gave some great advice on the difference between being vs. doing – and how to be selfless in how you engage with your children. Gave great examples on ways to praise your children so that they feel loved by you. Australia was scarred forever by the horrors at Port Arthur in 1996. 35 people died when Bryant ran amok with his arsenal of weapons at the busy tourist destination of Port Arthur in Tasmania. The appalling crime wounded many more, scarred the nation, shocked the world and changed us forever. For the first time, his lawyer, his psychiatrist and his girlfriend break their silence to reveal new insights into the criminal mind of Australia's worst mass murderer. But even more revealing is the video of the police interrogation of Bryant. Until this episode aired, it had never been shown outside court. Mike Willesee led this special investigation for Sunday Night. This episode originally aired in 2016. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
XXXVIII? Unreal! Hanukkah is in full lighty light swing and Christmas is nearly upon us! This relatively snappy brief ep compared to the two Bonus eps the last two weeks will zing past and refresh you like a cold shower on a hot day, or a hot shower on a cold day...whatever. We travel to the oceans to find that the deranged Left's Crazy Maizie Hirono is actually moving together with the wacky GOP's Silly Sarah Palin in a rare show of bipartisanship. My Hollywood Con QueenTrilogy comes to a close as the FBI finally did something of merit and arrested him/her! Whodathunk??? We're off to Hollywood for the obituary (again) of an industry and almost closed once and could again, but mebbe not in what could be a blessing in disguise, and truly a disguise we'll never unravel again. That fake Indian Pocohantas (Elizabeth Warren) is pushing Joe Biden to forgive ALL USA STUDENT DEBT/LOANS but that shit's not going to fly and I explain why with the skills of uber-pundit Jeff Jacoby of Pocohantas' backyard tabloid the Boston Globe. Forget the US Election until January, and no---it's not President Elect Joe Biden just yet. Unless you're one of the worthless Mainstream Media Hacks. It could be... it probably will be... But it's not just yet so hold onto your seat. Martin Luther King said it best..."free at last, free at last", and a million fish in Tasmania have run faster than you would if you knew Martin Bryant had been released for a press junket on the upcoming film about him we flagged last episode. And to accompany this mass exodus, Steve 'Hillfish' Hillage comes back from the psychedelic 70's and 80's to play The Salmon Song in an ode to freedom, and a herald of one of the greatest guitarists to walk this planet (and largely (sic) unsung). Plus all your faves but bake-free and fashion-free this week only as we prepare for the holidaze. #JeffJacoby #bostonGlobe #BrooksBarnes #HuonFisheries #SalmonEscape #MLK #Pocohantas #ElizabethWarren #SteveHillage #VirginRecords #MaizieHirono #SarahPalin #SleepyJoe #Christmas #hanukkah #Chanukkah #Gong #BombaloniYoni #HollywoodConQueen Can you believe it's Episode 38 XXXVIII? You'll be in Heaven with Episode XXXVII (Sarai in paradiso con l'episodio trentasette)! We'd have something definitive about the US Election but like in Rumania, "vee are shtill vating for da count'. You know Mars is taking over when profound enmity and patience go head-to-head with a lunar and solar eclipse in the same month. Space-time continuum quark physics time travel is my thing, like all creatives, and we go linear back to Sportsman's Camera in Sioux City, Iowa circa 1967 where my creative career began part-time after Junior High School, and I explain why today's Snowflakes never had a proper job to jumpstart their lives and proper pronouns. Science Bitches! (R) goes to Rumania and Utah. I'm not sure there's a difference---to find the 2001 Monolith. It's a Tale of Two Cities and Tale of Two Directors as MANK and HILLBILLY ELEGY go head to head. The WuFlu may have blew through here but there's a new Twin Towers WuFlu Fashion Dynasty straight outta Oz, and I'm onto it. It's Bake Time again but we didn't do it at home... we went to (gasp!)
