This week it's once again just Joseph, Mitch, and Joel, as Matt is still hiatus-ing. This week Mitch talks about the #Shitegra, we answer a suspension question, and a bit of news, and we talk about the Yaris GR and argue about the F40 Vs. F50. Mitch then talks about the Integra, and the new bits and bobs he's done to it, and what still needs to be done, and we take a question from Andrew regarding what brand suspension he should get for his Mazda MPS6. Then we discuss the false economy of the Australian Japanese car market which we're expecting/hoping to crash next year. This week, it's just Mitch, Joseph and Joel. We start off with talking absolute nonsense before breaking into a bit of news. The first bit of news we talk about is about the Governor of California signing a bill to ban the sale of Internal Combustion Engines as of 2035, from which all cars will have to be "emission free". From which, we talk about our love for Internal Combustion Engines and more-or-less our dislike of electric cars. We then talk about adding to our respective tool collections, specifically Joseph is looking at getting an air impact, and Joel's dead Z32. Mitch then reads off a list of 5 uber rare, and uber expensive, classic cars for sale right now in Australia, from which we talk about our love for 80's, 90's, and early 2000's Japanese cars as the new BMW's have far too much technology for their own good. We then end on a mish-mash of news from electric cars to Scott McLaughlin winning the SUpercars championship for the 3rd time on the trot. Joseph then gets us talking about the leaked images of the next generation BMW M3 and M4, and we're not a fan, to say the least. Matt then talks about Mitsubishi introducing a 10 year / 200,00Km warranty, which gets us talking about how awful 'official' service centres, and General Motors bringing the C8 Corvette to Australia by the end of the year under the 'General Motors Special Vehicles' brand (GMSV) and holy-balls it's not cheap. Then Matt talks about the 'Volta Zero'; a 16 tonne freight truck, which makes a lot of sense for this type of vehicle. Mitch then asks how to know immediately that someone is an absolute fuckwit. Yep, late again. Our bad. Anyway, Mitch couldn't do this week's episode, so it's just Matt, Joseph, and The Short One this week. The boys this week start off with a bit of news, and the first bit of news is about the minor refresh to the Toyota Hilux including new lights and a bit of a tune. The guys then argue about the pig-fronted new BMW's, and then argue about design changes being historically hated no matter the make, and the Porsche Taycan. Then the Short One asks the guys a question; what car would you buy to be suitable in a 'Mad Max' dystopia. The the lads start talking about cooking meats, for some reason. Joseph then brings up a Frankenstein Mini Moke.... with the Ferrari F136 V8 engine out of a Maserati for $250,000 AUD. We then talk about tyres, and Joseph picked up his next set of tyres for his 86; Nexen SUR4G, then Mitch talks about the braking situation in his Hilux, and the work he's done to the Integra (#Shitegra). Matt then talks about his LandCruiser taking a dump of oil after out 4wd day before we were completely locked down. We are back for episode 143! We hope you're all staying safe and well during this Corona stuff. We start off this by arguing about food, weirdly enough, before Joseph and Mitch rag on Matt for not being able to speak English correctly. We kick off the news this week with a bit of automotive news from America, and Mitch forgets about Ford's V6 Twin Turbo existing. Matt then rants about Subaru and then rants about people's claiming their cat-back exhaust adds power to turbo cars (without doing the dump). Matt and Joseph then talk absolute trash about how they're 'over beer' before Matt talks about Tesla's new ute, and how he's wanting a Honda S660. Mitch then talks about what he's done to his Integra (Shitegra). We then revive an old favourite game that we used to play a minute ago; The Cool Wall. We are back with episode 142! And we are once again joined by Joseph! We start this episode off by talking about good ol' Coronavirus, and Matt's wedding, Mitch's bottle keyring opener, and other bollocks. Matt then kicks off the actual 'car' content with talking about the car that brought his Misso to the wedding; a Jaguar Mark II. Joseph then talks about Toyota shutting down the import and sale of replica Toyota LandCruiser grilles. Matt then brings up photos of the balls-ugly Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV, and motorsport going 'online only', from which we talk about sim racing. Mitch then has some news about CarAdvice having a list of cars that are leaving the Australian market by the end of 2020. Matt then talks about how bad the fuel economy is for a naturally aspirated current Subaru Forester, from which we talk about how it's silly to have an underpowered engine in a heavy car. We then get back onto Mitch's list, from which we talk about Infinity, the Nissan Skyline, and the difference between the Infinity QX80 and the Nissan Patrol. We then talk about modifying Mazdas and chucking a fart cannon on Ben's Mazda 3. We are back to 'normal' with episode 141! This week, it's basically back to normal, except for the first time in 141 episodes, we are not joined by Joseph; instead, we're joined with Ben and Michael. This week, we kick off with some news about Matthew getting married - Literally the day after we recorded this episode! Mitch then talks about World Time Attack Challenge 2020 being cancelled because of Coronavirus. We then talk about Honda coming out to say that Australia is not a very profitable market for them, however they currently don't plan to leave the market any time soon and are continuing to commit to Australia. We then talk about BMW killing of the i8 as of April, and the New York Motor Show being cancelled because of Coronavirus, the Ford Puma mini-SUV, and the new 2021 Hyundai Elantra. Toyota has announced pricing for the Toyota Gazoo Racing Yaris for England, from which we can try and extrapolate a guestimation of price for Australian pricing. Then we talk about Ford's Focus-based small ute, and the Hyundai i20N, and Toyota releasing a ridiculous $90,000 LandCruiser Prado. Then Matt talks about what he's done to his Subaru this week, and Michael gives his thoughts on driving his folk's 2012 BMW X5. We then question why Americans love their "trucks" being so goddamn large. We then play a game, another nameless game, where Matt asked Ben to find 3 cars above $60,000 and the rest of us have to guess what they are. Then we throw it out to you, where you guys have to send us in 3 cars, ad we have to guess what they are [Mitch's note: Not sure how this will actually work, now that I think about it]. Then Matt has a rant about being sick and tired over the rivalry between Toyota and Nissan, and the incredible increase in values of Japanese cars. Matt then brings up the BMW i4 electric touring/sedan, which has us argue about electric cars (as per usual), then talks about the Y62 Nissan Patrol and how his stance on them has changed after giving one a spin. Joseph then talks about getting the 'Traction Mod' installed onto his GT86, and he says it's made a huge difference already; then Matt cuts him off and talks about the new Hummer and an absolute abortion called the ACE 'Yewt', as well as a few other electric vehicles before Joseph gets back onto talking about the Traction Mod. We are back for episode 139! This week we kick off the news by talking about the news about General Motors officially killing off Holden, and pulling out of right-hand drive markets globally. We talk about Holden a fair bit throughout this episode, as it really is the biggest bit of news this week. We then talk about dual-cab utes for a bit, specifically, Mercedes killing over the X-Class, and Peugeot introducing their LDV-based dual-cab before we get back onto talking about Holden. We then talk about Bathurst, and how the Bathurst 12 Hour is gaining a lot of traction, and in many ways, is becoming far more interesting than the Supercars Bathurst 1000. Joseph then talks about the limited edition, epic, and Australian-developed Ford Mustang R. Joel, the Short One, talks about his new kinda-project car Suzuki Swift. We then play a new game from Joseph, which, in our usual form, is yet to have a name. And while Matt, Mitch, and Joel try to find their cars, Joseph talks about the new Honda Civic Type R... We are back for episode 138! This episode is a continuation from episode 137, and Mitch is still not sober. We did the news last week, so this week it's game week. For the first game, Ben takes the reigns. Ben has 2 cars for under $20,000, and it's our job to guess the cars - This is very similar to the Simon Special, but it's not. Matt then challenges Mitch and Joseph to find 2 cars that are front-wheel drive and under $50,000, while Matt, Michael, and Ben talk about their favourite cars, and we argue about the Ford GT. We then talk about the cars we'll probably be driving in the future. Joseph then talks about his plans to run his GT86 in WTAC in 2021, and what'll be required for him to meet the requirements to compete, we then tangent a bit to talking about Hyundai and their foray into WTAC with the Drift Bus iMax and their actual time-attack i30N. We then actually talk about World Time Attack Challenge 2019, and the issues surrounding the Yokohama tyres that don't appear to be handling the greater and greater loads that the Pro-Class players are putting the tyres under. Matt then drops a bombshell on all of us. We then pretty much just talk absolute nonsense for the rest of the episode, so if you're into that, you'll enjoy the rest of this episode! Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
We're back for episode 121! And this week Mitch is decidedly less drunk, for better or worse. We talk a little bit about why episode 120 was late, and a little bit about Mitch and Matt's camping trip to Teewah beach a couple of weekends back. We then break into a bit of news, and Joseph starts us off with news about the new Land Rover Defender's pricing in Australia. Mitch then has a bit of rumour news from Volkswagen, in that they might be looking to offload Lamborghini to further streamline their model range and to focus on (boring) economy cars... Then Joseph has a bullshit hot take about people in the UAE giving away supercars to people who compliment their supercar. Joseph then has a bit of news about the Alpina B3 Touring coming to Australia, and then we talk a bit about Bathurst and the debacle that unfolded, and then Joseph goes onto to talk about Renault being under investigation in Formula 1 regarding their alleged rule-breaking with ABS, and Matt talks about the 2021 rule changes to Formula 1. Then Joseph and Matt talk more about Formula 1 and Formula 1 history. We then play the un-named CarSales game thing we play, this week we have $30,000 to play with.
