Emy Kissick might only be 16, but she definitely taught us a thing or ten. Emy got her racing license before she got her drivers license, races spec Miata, works on her own car, and drives an 1988 300ZX. Add all that up and she still manages to be a 4.0 GPS student. Needless to say, her parents are proud, and she's a huge asset to the community. Speaking of, a special thanks to our friends and Avants Partner, Hydraulic Solutions for sponsoring Emy and getting people like her on the track. Converting a FWD Honda to a RWD platform is not easy task, but it does come with some solid benefits as we will discuss looking at this F20c powered space framed Honda Prelude [TECH TOUR].Use ‘PODCAST75' for $75 off your first HPA course here: https://hpcdmy.co/hpa-tuned-inWith an Ethanol fed, 24-26 PSI boosted, 9,000 RPM 750hp Dandy Engines F20c boasting Eagle Rods, factory crank and camshafts (because they're that good), aftermarket pistons, SuperTech valves and a new Garrett G35-900, this Fastr sponsored RWD converted Honda Prelude is no slouch in its regular appearances in the ACL Race Series.Professional driver Brett Dickie took a few moments while at the World Time Attack Challenge to discuss his build (with the help of his skilled father) discussing the some of the advantages the rear wheel drive (RWD) conversion gives a driver behind the wheel along with his thoughts in passing on EMtrons torque management system. As you might have guessed, the car runs an ProWire Performance Wiring fitted EMtron KV8 ECU along with a MoTeC CDL dash for some extra logging bandwidth and driver display duties which Brett felt was the best combination he could get for performance and his requirements without blowing out the budget too far. We caught up with Brett just before his first run with the new Garrett G35-900 turbocharger which is replacing a 3076 and we look forward to getting his thoughts on a comparison next time we chat along with some of the data this system can and will provide him with as he and his team gets it all dialed in with the help of a Turbosmart E-Gate (electronic wastegate), DBW blow off valve, MAP sensors pre and post the throttle body and an exhaust pressure sensor. With no bolt-on solution available, the dry sump setup is a mix of BDG dry sump components and a custom sump, with Brett sharing some thoughts on what he has learnt and would do differently second time around. Tucked behind the F series engine is a 6 speed TTi GTO sequential gearbox and Motorsport Services strain gauge lever which feeds a GJ Drivelines driveshaft and R200 LSD diff center nicked from a Nissan Skylines rear end. The Nissan parts list also includes the uprights, with 300ZX ones used to help try and reign in custom work and give more bolt in part options, and of course being something that physically worked with the package. Also touched on are some of the boost control strategies employed, but Brett is pretty straight up that his knowledge is more focused on being behind the wheel than behind the laptop, and with 20+ years of it his no doubt his feedback goes a long way to help dial things in for race day.You can catch Brett and this build racing in the ACL Race Series, and you can catch Brett racing other cars like the previous title winning Elusive Racing DC2 Integra at the World Time Attack Challenge as well as other cars in Global Time Attack and Pikes Peak Hill Climb events.

00:00 - SHOW OPEN - Watch Out For Base Car Inflation Don't Pay Too Much For a Base Model Used CarWhen the top of the line model of a particular used car or truck goes up in value, many sellers of base-model examples of the same car try to capitalize on this by asking inflated prices for their base cars. 01:25 - INTRO -What Is Base Car Inflation? EXAMPLE: Price of the 300ZX Turbo vs. lesser non-turbo 300ZX and 300ZX 2+2 siblings From May of 2018 to July of 2022, the Hagerty Price guide shows the value of a 1990-1996 Nissan 300ZX turbo (the most popular model of the Z32 300ZX) went up more than 300%. Lesser models like the non-turbo 300ZX and 300ZX 2+2 also went up in value, but not by the same percentage and not as quickly. However, in spite of that, many sellers of the non-turbo 300ZX and 2+2 models tried to sell them for prices that were much higher than those vehicles were worth, hoping buyers would get caught up in the frenzy of rising prices for the 300ZX Turbo. That's what I mean by Base Car Inflation. 05:30 - You Didn't Pay Too Much... You Just Bought Too EarlyThat might be true if every car goes up in value, no matter what features it has. However, in reality, the highest specification cars will always be worth more money in the long run. The base model cars will continue to lag in terms of price. 06:30 - 1991 Toyota MR2 + Automatic Transmission = MehWhile a 1991 MR2 with a 111,000 miles in good condition would normally be of interest to enthusiasts, the original asking price of nearly $9000 was too much for a sports car that's been neutered by an automatic transmission. When buying an MR2, you will want an example with a manual transmission. 09:30 - The 1996 Honda Del Sol Si - Nice Car, But No VTEC LoveThe Honda Civic Del Sol VTEC with it's B16 motor that made 160-horsepower was a revelation and very fun to drive. However, lesser examples like this Civic Del Sol Si with 127-horsepower were just okay. That said, many sellers of lesser-model Del Sols try to ride on the VTEC version's desirability by asking for a high price. Don't fall for that Jedi mind trick! 11:50 - Optimistic Price For A First-Gen Integra LS With NO AC!This was a very nice car with only 55,000 original miles and excellent overall condition, but two things held it back. First, it was a basic LS model, that while decently equipped when new from Acura, today it's sorely lacking in amenities, including AC! Asking $15,000 for a base model car with no AC is a little crazy. If this were a special model, I might change my mind, but this one is not special. 13:40 - WRAP Base car inflation is real, so as you search for a used car, try to avoid the Jedi Sales Mind trick of being asked to pay too much for a lower spec model that isn't worth a higher asking price.

This is the story of a 1989 Nissan 300Zx (Z31) that I owned from April 2013 until October 2015. This car was a slice of nostalgia for me and a dream come true. I only got rid of it because I'd bought a 2003 350Z in September of 2015 and I just didn't have room for a 4th car.

Datsun/Nissan Z cars Pt.2 In this episode, I cover the latest generations of the Datsun/Nissan Z cars, starting with the 300ZX all the way to the newly shown off Z Proto. With the first 300ZX, things were looking up in terms of performance, but the car still had a long way to go. By 1990 the Z32 300ZX was out and this car became incredible, utilizing a twin-turbo V6 engine, 4 wheel steering, and many other upgrades. The Z32 would become one of the best sports cars of the time. The 350Z and 370Z both continued the trend of good performance and a good price, the next-generation Z Proto was just shown off and things are looking good again for this latest Z car Thanks for Listening! We are back! Happy 2021! We're sorry this episode is later than we had hoped, Corona decided to do an Empire and it striked back and buggered our plans to get back into your ear-holes last week. Anyways, we're back now. We had to re-record this week as GarageBand decided to F us and corrupt our first attempt at this episode, but we persevered. Matt then kicks off the news with a Finnish tyre company wanting to sell 'Lifelong tyres', and the new Ford Ranger has been spied in camo and it looks "very F150-y" and it'll be a shared platform with the next Volkswagen Amarok. Joseph then talks about Toyota's new GR010 LMP1 race-car, and Nissan pretty much gearing up to release the 400Z which will, allegedly, look exactly like the 400Z Prototype. Mitch then talks about Ken Block and Ford getting a divorce and seeing other people; ie, they've parted ways. Ken might potentially go back to Subaru. Then Mitch talks about the new Singer ACS Safari/Rally 911; a two-off commission by a rich bloke. Joseph then talks about BMW shitting the bed with the new M2 CS promotional video, which features the audio-track of an Audi V10 super-imposed over the video... Basically, BMW is having an identity crisis at the moment. Joseph then talks about GM's crap new logo that is just pure crap. Mitch then goes on a rant about how he got banned from commenting on Ozzy Tyres' Facebook page, then Joseph and Mitch then talk about getting OBD2 readers for their cars, and we talk about Mitch's new Android head unit and GME UHF. Then Joseph talks about his OS Giken 1.5 LSD Diff that's being installed very soon, and Joel talks about his recent issues with his 300ZX. Robert Ross is joined (online) by Pete Evanow, author of the book "Nissan Z: 50 Years of Exhilarating Performance" to discuss Z history, the impact the six generations of the Z-Car had on the automotive industry, and what the future might look like in the collectible market. After introducing Pete, Robert shares his thoughts on Pete's book, "Nissan Z," and Pete shares how the book came to be (1:01). Then Robert rewinds and asks Pete to go back and look at the origins of the Z legacy (2:34) before Robert asks Pete to talk in in more detail about Yutaka Katayama, father of the Z-Car (5:09), and then Pete explains why Datsun rebranded as Nissan (6:39). The two men then discuss how the release of the 240Z 'changed the game' for Nissan (7:11) and Pete details the designers who created the automobile (9:18). Pete then shares some of the racing history of the Z-Cars, including how P.L. Newman brought credibility to the make (10:21), and then they both review the model numbers that brought the car to present day (12:56). Before a short break, Pete shares about this time working for Nissan when the company partnered with Renault (14:33). Then Robert asks Pete to talk about the GTR (16:55), before discussing the more recent Z-Car models (18:12) and considering what the future might hold for the next Z-Cars (21:00). Then Robert turns the conversation towards the collector market (22:16). We are back for episode 163! Matt's back this week, he survived his ACL/knee surgery, which is good. To kick things off, we mix things up, we actually talk about a beer that's different to the (fantastic) Great Northern; Byron Bay Brewery. Joseph kicks off the news with news about the 2021 Toyota Yaris range increasing in price leaving the sub-$20k (before on roads) price bracket well and truly behind; maxing out at just over $33,500. Joseph then talks about the Dodge Ram TRX which has the Hellcat engine, which gets us onto talking about our mate Michael looking at getting a 4 wheel drive, which is proving to be difficult due to all 4 wheel drives appreciating in value due to Covid. Joseph then rounds out the news with Bridgestone bringing out a new super soft 'cheater' track-day tyre; the RE71RS, and General Motors trying to weasel their way back into the Australian market under the 'General Motors Special Vehicles' name; and people aren't pleased. Mitch then talks about the wiring work that Matt did to Mitch's Hilux; wiring in the seat heater function, as well as some hardwired USB's for charging purposes, as well as the progress made on the #Shitegra. Matt then talks about the turbo he's had recently installed on his Toyota LandCruiser 105 Series, and Joel tells us what's going on with his Swift and 300ZX. We are back for episode 135! This week is kinda a part two of last week's episode, but also kinda isn't. We kick off this week with some 'What Have You Done To Your Car This Week' chats, starting off with the Short One talking about his 300ZX. Matt then talks some rapid-fire news about a Toyota making a cross-over Yaris, Tesla's stock going up, Oslo's road death toll, and Matt updates y'all on Australia's bushfire status, before getting back on what have we done to our cars this week... We're great at staying on topic! We then argue about suspension and swaybars., and the Short One then talks about motorcycle suspension setups. We then play a game where Mitch picked two different cars, Matt and Joseph have to guess the cars. This wasn't supposed to be 'The Simon Special', but it basically turned into it. We then finish off with another game, this time issued by Matt. Matt gave us a budget of $20,000 with which to find a front-wheel-drive car, then we proceed to argue. We're back with episode 95! This week, to mix things up, Joel has emerged from under his rock and has joined us this week. This week, we start off with a usual bit of bollocks before breaking into a bit of news, starting with Nissan celebrating their 50th Anniversary with some vinyl chucked at their GTR and the 12 year-old 370Z. Then we talk about the new Focus RS tuned Ford Mustang from Ford. Mitch then briefly talks about a new luxury 4-door Ute from Great Wall/Haval, before Matt talks a bit about the 4-cylinder Falcon from 2012 that Mitch didn't know existed. Joseph then briefly talks about the new Porsche Speedster becoming a proper thing, as it was teased a little while back, before we talk about the 996 911.
