Land Cruiser to model, któremu Toyota w dużej mierze zawdzięcza globalną rozpoznawalność.
Hosted on Acast. Send us a textThe line between determination and recklessness blurs in this captivating episode featuring Brendan Bramford, a hunter whose life story spans continents and carries the weight of generations of hunting tradition. Born in Zimbabwe where his father worked as a professional hunter, Brendan's earliest memories include riding in Land Cruisers on safari before his family fled political violence that claimed their home.Brendan's storytelling prowess shines as he recounts his first black bear harvest in Washington—a tale that begins with him answering nature's call behind camp and spotting what he thought was a burnt stump until it started moving. With his pants literally down, he managed to make the shot of a lifetime, creating a hunting memory equal parts successful and embarrassing. The heart of the episode centers on Brendan's remarkable elk hunt where stubborn determination overcame physical limitations. Just three days before a planned five-day backcountry archery hunt, Brendan severely sliced his forearm open, requiring extensive stitches. Against medical advice and common sense, he proceeded with the hunt, hiking eight miles into the wilderness with an 82-pound pack and his arm freshly bandaged. When the moment came to draw on his first bull elk, the searing pain nearly derailed the opportunity—but Brendan persevered through multiple shots and tracking to harvest his first archery elk.The episode closes with sobering stories of Brendan's family history hunting dangerous game in Africa, including his father being run over by a Cape buffalo and a family friend's recent horrific mauling by a leopard. These tales serve as powerful reminders of nature's raw power and the risks some hunters accept in pursuit of their passion. Are you ready to make your own hunting stories? Hold onto your hubcaps because this week, the boys go full throttle on facts and feelings. Nissan is outselling Toyota like it's a yard sale and the Land Cruiser is stuck behind a pensioner doing 40 in an 80. Let's be real an MUX? Please. That thing's about as threatening as a remote-control car with a flat battery. Comparing it to Nissan? That's like comparing a Ferrari to a foot spa.Meanwhile, Goony takes out the Ultimate Birthday Present Prize Pack — a glorious concoction of questionable taste and undoubted brilliance — with heavy-handed input (aka strong-armed influence) from Tommy The Pommy himself. It's the gift that keeps on confusing. The lads also keep the culinary nightmare alive with another session of "MMMM That's Delicious" — this week featuring mushy peas and creamed rice, aka the two worst crimes against taste according to E-Dawg, who nearly taps out. But Evo and The Lord? They get weirdly excited. Like, uncomfortably excited. Can it get any better?YES. Aggression Beer Therapy is here. The rules are simple:The louder you scream, the more beer you get. That's right — rage and refreshment in one glorious, frothy combo. Two birds. One stone. One drunk, possibly crying, listener. This episode is wild, unhinged, and possibly illegal in 3 countries. Tune in or be a Toyota driver forever. Your call.Legends, welcome to The Unprofessionals Podcast — where absolutely nothing is off limits! The people are real, the laughs are loud, and the stories? Well, they're better than your nan's gossip at a family BBQ. Join E-Dawg, Evo, and The Lord as they crack a cold one and spin their weekly yarns, tackling everything from the ridiculous to the downright absurd. So, grab a beer, kick back, and let these three best mates take you on a ride where no topic is too weird, too wild, or too out-of-bounds. It's just a dead set good time... and maybe a little bit of chaos too. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
On this episode, Chris collaborates and co-hosts with Dan Simpson, the host of the Classic Land Cruisers Podcast. When two classic 4x4 enthusiasts get a chance to pick each others brains, the conversation will inevitably end up about Land Cruisers. They talk about their random encounter crossing paths, variations of global market Land Cruisers and get real about the beloved J-Series markets.US Spec Land Cruisers will always be paramount in the market, but supply of imported Land Cruisers has moderated and allowed the market to balance out. Lately, the lower volume of Land Cruisers we are seeing imported into the US tend to be higher quality restorations and desirable variants that we never saw in the US. Those current market trends and the back drop of a strong collector vehicle market are moving the J-Series market back into the sellers favor and prices are rising. What's the deal with diesel tuning? Is it really that different? Yes… But also no.This week Matt Smith of Just Autos joins us to discuss all things diesel tuning — operating principles, combustion temperature, reflash options, and a whole lot more.Use JUST50 to get $50 off HPA's Diesel Tuning Starter Package: https://hpcdmy.co/dieselstarterbJust Autos, based out of Queensland, Australia, specialises in diesel performance tuning — but perhaps not the platforms you're more familiar with. Matt has gone down the Japanese diesel path — specifically Toyota's Hilux, Prado, and Landcruiser platforms. These workhorses are common on Aussie roads, and Matt is at the very forefront of developing their stout Toyota diesel motors to get the absolute best performance from them. In this conversation, Matt tells us how he got into the business, and how it's changed and improved to become the very professional outfit it is today. We then jump into the real meat and potatoes of this episode — a very deep dive into the world of diesel engines and tuning. Matt takes the time to really go through how a diesel engine operates and how that differs from a petrol engine, as well as why we need fuel pulses, the general dos and don'ts of diesel tuning, controlling combustion temperatures, and the usefulness (or not) of exhaust gas temperature sensors in a diesel application. Matt is a great communicator and manages to get tech heavy without leaving the real world, so if you've always wanted to better understand diesel technology and how to get the absolute most performance out of it, this episode is a great place to start.Follow Matt here:IG: @justautosmechanicalFB: Just AutosYT: Just Autos MechanicalTKTK: justautosWWW: justdieselperfomance.com.auDon't forget, you can use JUST50 to get $50 off HPA's Diesel Tuning Starter Package: https://hpcdmy.co/dieselstarterbTimestamps:0:00 The Dos and Don'ts of Diesel Tuning.3:41 How did you become interested in cars?10:57 Are we losing key mechanical skills these days?15:30 What drove you towards the diesel world?22:48 How does a diesel engine work?26:15 Diesel engine timing.29:16 What is pilot injection for in a diesel engine?32:36 Diesel fuelling and tuning.40:12 EGTs on a diesel engine.50:47 Common rail diesel fuel pressure.54:19 Diesel fuel system failures. Jill and Tom open the show covering a few news stories. First, Toyota is claiming it will have a solid-state EV battery in a production vehicle around 2030. Could be big news in regard to EV price and range. Listen in for details. The hosts went on to discuss Mercedes-Benz's new turquoise marker- and tail lights. Why are they doing this? Listen in. Still in the first segment, Jill shared details of a story she wrote about how the similar-size Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser crossovers differ. Clue: One is more family friendly than the other. In the second segment, Jill and Tom welcome Sam Fiorani of AutoForecast Solutions to the show. Sam walked the hosts through the headwinds faced by the auto industry as a result of the current administration's tariff plans. Sam also discussed Tesla's plant capacity situation, which may be most acute in Europe, where the company recently opened a new manufacturing facility. In the last segment, Jill is tormented by Tom's “Pontiac or Oldsmobile?” quiz, and the hosts talk a little about Polestar, a new EV brand with Volvo roots.
Nissan has some competition for the Forester market, how much better is an XJ than a 100 series Land Cruiser? And, some under rated overland platform ideas you may not of thought about yet.

There's fries with that: scary words in your shampoo ingredients, honest humanity in your "Blazing Saddles", Mexican light bulbs, Korean stoves, the 1911's birthday and at least one sammich.

Are they off-road ready or just rugged? This week the Unnamed Automotive Podcast tackles two rough and tumble SUVs starting with Benjamin's review of the 2025 Subaru Outback XT, especially in light of an upcoming redesign which may ditch the classic wagon styling of the Subaru halo vehicle. While our hosts rag on the Outback's mainstreamification, they also worry that the future will lack the personality and capabilities that made it so interesting and popular in the first place. Then Sami shares his thoughts on the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, which changes the older FJ formula to something less capable and less luxurious than Americans are used to. Beyond that, Sami points out the difficult to swallow pricing of the new Land Cruiser and how it stacks up against other rugged SUVs. Then the guys talk about the quality and pricing of cars following the COVID Pandemic, and whether consumers can head into a dealership and get a good deal right now. Thanks for listening!

Few off-roaders have the pedigree of the Toyota 4Runner, so when Toyota had us to be among the first to drive it on- and off-road, we jumped at the chance. The sixth-generation 4Runner will be available in nine different grades, including the first-ever Trailhunter and Platinum trims, and host Jack Nerad just drove virtually all of them in an event held outside San Diego, California. The vehicle is based on Toyota's tough TNGA-F global platform, which also supports the Tacoma, Tundra, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia. It includes a three-row, seven-passenger version, improved safety and infotainment features, and two new engine/drivetrain options. Prices range from $40,770 for the SR5 trim level to $66,900 for the TRD Pro I-Force Max hybrid. Nerad's road test this week takes a close look at an important trim — the TRD Off-Road Premium equipped with the iForce Max hybrid powertrain. The price as-tested for the vehicle was $59,420, and we'll have all the details for you in this episode. Across the country, Co-Host Chris Teague got behind the wheel of the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse with the Z71 package. Those who have spent a lot of time in the midsize Chevy crossover SUV see it as a good suburban grocery-getter and child transporter. But in Z71 trim, does it have the chops to become a genuine off-roader? Teague and Nerad will offer their opinions. This week we have a terrific guest for you. Alison Rahm is Chief Engineer on the all-new Jeep Wagoneer S, the brand's first battery-electric vehicle. Jack Nerad had a chance to sit down with her recently to discuss all the details regarding this exciting new vehicle in the midst of driving it himself. She shared the entire philosophy behind the groundbreaking vehicle, and we're sure you'll enjoy what she has to say. In this week's news segment, there are breaking stories that will change the trajectory of the auto industry and affect what vehicles might eventually land in your driveway. The new Administration is studying a rollback in fuel economy standards for new vehicles, and that might prove to be make-or-break for many of the world's car companies. We'll have the details. The proposed merger of Honda and Nissan has run into a roadblock. We'll tell which company is balking at the move and why coming up. Cadillac has introduced its first battery-electric V- performance model, and we'll have all the details. And Honda and Acura have announced a recall of many of its largest SUVs, and we'll tell you about that. Land Cruiser is one of Toyota's – and, arguably, the world's – most haloed marques. In this episode, Jason and Derek discuss its origins and history from its jeep origins, to its enormous family tree, all the way up to the brand new 250-series models, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus GX550. Jason and the Hagerty crew traveled to the rugged, mountainous outskirts of Salt Lake City (and the nearby Land Cruiser Heritage Museum) to film an ICONS episode on the illustrious off-roading Toyota. And in this episode, the carmudgeons dive into the origins of the Japanese jeep and its Attila-grade family tree of subsequent series: the 20-series Land Cruiser and then the, 40, 55, 60, 70, 80, 100, 200, 250, and 300, just to name a few! The FJs, BJs, the Iron Pig, heavy duties, station wagons, Prados, the Lexus-badged models like the LX600 and GX550 (Motor 1's SUV of the year!). We'll even cover the Land Cruiser's competition along the way: the Jeep Wrangler, Compass, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wagoneer; the Land Rover Defender, Range Rover, Velar, Discovery and Evoque; even the Ford Bronco and International Scout. In addition to the WWII Willys Jeep 4x4, we'll cover the origin of the “J” in BJ and FJ – an abbreviation for jeep, which itself many believe is a pseudo-acronym for GP or “general purpose,” but a fact-check says otherwise. Even the Land Cruiser name itself was a tweaked version of the Land Rover moniker to make Rando-kurūzā in Japan. Jason also reviews both of the new 250-series Prado trucks: the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser and 2024 Lexus GX550. We'll talk powertrain, styling, cargo and passenger capacity, comfort, handling, NVH, luxury, and more. Now let's get to it! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Is Toyota's legendary reliability fading? Recent recalls, like over 100,000 Tundra and Lexus LX engines, and reports of Tacoma transmission issues, are shaking consumer trust. Meanwhile, Toyota's lineup, including the revived Land Cruiser, faces criticism for high prices and limited options, with models like the 4Runner TRD Pro seeing a 24% price hike. Chevrolet has just released the jaw-dropping figures for its 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, which boasts an astonishing 1,064 horsepower, and that's just the beginning of an episode that should warm the heart of every musclecar fan. On top of the Corvette news, Stellantis has announced that it will continue to build and market HEMI V8-powered Dodge Durangos, and by some weird twist of fate, Host Jack Nerad just drove a Durango and he will share his recent Chicago area road test experience in the 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. The survival of the Durango is good news for enthusiasts, because it's a powerhouse that continues to dominate the performance three-row SUV segment. With its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing a staggering 710 horsepower, the Durango SRT Hellcat offers explosive performance that gets drivers from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. This robust SUV combines thrilling acceleration with practicality, having the ability to tow up to 8,700 pounds and comfortably seat up to six passengers. Also featured in our road test segment this week Co-Host Chris Teague evaluates the 2025 Acura MDX, a luxury SUV that enhances both comfort and capability. With a refined interior that prioritizes quality and space, the MDX provides seating for up to seven and is loaded with tech features, including a large touchscreen interface for its infotainment system. Under the hood, the MDX offers the choice of two dynamic V6 engines that can deliver engaging driving experiences while maintaining reasonable fuel efficiency. Its all-wheel-drive system instills on-road confidence, but can it stand up to the cruelties of a Maine winter? We'll have Teague's practiced opinion on the matter. In the news this week, Stellantis is making headlines with the installation of former Dodge executive Tim Kuniskis as head of the brand and important updates to its forthcoming product plans. The battery-electric Ram pickup has been delayed while Ram pushes the Ramcharger forward, relying on its interesting range-extender tech to gain much-needed traction in the full-size pickup segment. On a more mainstream tack, we'll also review the pluses and minuses of the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid, a finalist for the North American Car of the Year award, which will be announced next month. Meanwhile, Nissan has made some changes to the battery-electric Ariya that make it more appealing than ever. This week, our special guest is Maggie Clark, a Toyota product specialist, who shares insights on new Toyota models like the 2025 Crown Signia and Land Cruiser. Pues… depende.
The Toyota Land Cruiser's story is almost as long as the brand's. Evolving from a Jeep alternative, the Land Cruiser has since grown into a luxurious off-roading superstar. Technically split between two separate series, the Land Cruiser 200 carried the water for Toyota's Land Cruiser in North America until it reached the end of the road in 2021. While Toyota hasn't brought the replacement Land Cruiser 300 to the United States, yet, the company did bring over its smaller Land Cruiser 250. Formerly dubbed Land Cruiser Prado, this downsized Land Cruiser sits closer to the 4Runner and Tacoma than the oversized Lexus LX. Powering the reborn Land Cruiser is a turbocharged 2.4-liter I4 that works with a hybrid system and an eight-speed transmission to throw 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the '24 Toyota Land Cruiser and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the latest Land Cruiser highlights some of his favorite features, and tells you what it's like to live with in the real world. Later, Wren takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Wren chats with Autoweek's Patrick Carone about the Land Cruiser, the Toyota TNGA-F body-on-frame platform, and more. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the Land Cruiser special.
In this episode, Maurice Merrick, who hosts the fabulous Horsepower Heritage Podcast, joined me to discuss his experience on the Fall 2024 Slow Baja Vintage Expedition. Maurice and Slow Baja Vintage Expedition alum Derek Boycks drove Derek's 1996 Land Rover Discovery. Upon arrival in Mexico, we stopped to procure our F.M.M. Visas; Maurice was deported because he forgot to bring his passport. We resolved that issue quickly and got Maurice across the border and back on the road. Just before we arrived at Rancho La Bellota, they drove over a rock and tore a hole in their muffler. The newly unmuffled Land Rover sounded like a menacing drag racer! Derek, a master mechanic, won the "Baja Is Right For You Award" for quietly fixing several minor issues on a number of vehicles, including a hazardous steering issue on my truck. Most importantly, he utilized some spare ignition parts from my Land Cruiser to rebuild the ignition on an FJ40 whose PerTronix had failed, so their engine wouldn't start. I was a guest on Maurice's Horsepower Heritage Podcast back in 2021.
