In this episode of Puppets GO BOOM!, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 1961 sci-fi action series Supercar. Supercar is about 3 people working at a secret organization in Black Rock, Nevada named Mike Mercury, Professor Rudolph Popkiss, and Dr. Horatio Beaker. One day, they rescue a young boy named Jimmy, his older brother Bill, and his monkey Mitch after a plane crash resulting in being lost at sea. After rescuing them thanks to Supercar, a vehicle with the ability to fly, go underwater, and travel into space, Jimmy and Mitch live with Mike, Professor Popkiss, and Dr. Beaker where they go on different missions to rescue people and stop the evil plans of Master Spy and his partner Zarin. When the show premiered, it became a big hit and would be the prototype of many Supermarionation shows that would come out later. It was the first very first show under the Supermarionation name, the first Supermarionation show that was produced by AP Films, and the first show that was commissioned by British proprietor Lew Grade. How well does it rank compared to the later Supermarionation shows? How is it as a standalone show?
In this episode of Puppets Go BOOM!, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 1964 sci-fi series Stingray. Set in the year 2064, an organization called the World Aquanaut Security Patrol is in charge of policing the World's oceans led by Commander Shore. Stingray, their flagship submarine, is controlled by Troy Tempest and his partner George "Phones" Sheridan. They go on underwater missions and adventures as well as take down the evil tyrannical ruler King Titan of Titanica and his agent X-2-Zero who wears disguises to help King Titan to rule the surface. Stingray was the first British television show in color, the first Supermarionation show to feature puppets with glass eyes, rotating hands, and more humanized proportions to make them more realistic, and what many people call the first "classic" Supermarionation show after learning from the previous shows like Supercar and Fireball XL5. Does it stand the test of time or has it not aged very gracefully and should be called the prototype of later shows to come like Thunderbirds?
AJ Allmendinger joins Freddie Kraft, Tommy Baldwin, and Karsyn Elledge on this week's episode of Door Bumper Clear to debrief all things Kansas. Then, Tommy explains why Justin Allgaier and the 7 team need to “go for the kill” every week and not be complacent. Emily Duggan's story is a perfect example of why it's important to share the stories of women in sport. When Emily was a little girl, she was watching TV one weekend and came across the Supercar motor racing series here in Australia and was instantly hooked. However Emily, in that moment, also realised there were no women racing and thought it was a “boy's sport” and put it to the back of her mind (as the saying goes, “you can't be what you can't see”).Thankfully the voice that whispered to Emily that day never disappeared and as soon as she started working, she began saving for her first racing car - and hasn't looked back since. In 2016, Emily became the 1st female driver to race in the V8 Touring Car Series here in Australia and now in 2019 is racing in the Super3 series (which is the 3rd tier in the Supercar series here). And sometime soon, I know we'll see Emily line up on the start of the iconic Bathurst 1000 race (a race I've promised to watch, for the first time ever, when she does!).Emily shares her story with me on Sparta Chicks Radio this week.

We preview the big race which marks Ojeda’s return to Walkinshaw Andretti United. What it’s like working alongside another rising star in Ryan Wood and the training item Woody forgot to bring! How Jayden’s role as a Mercedes AMG junior came about and his determination to build on that program. And how the hard road to get here has shaped Ojeda for a place in the sport that now feels more certain.Plus a 155k bike ride he’ll do in November and why he passionately supports it. https://dementiaresearchcommunity.com/Head to Rusty's Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and give us your feedback and let us know who you want to hear from on Rusty's GarageSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Full disclosure - there is nothing short about this edition of the shortcast. Rusty is in the middle of nowhere (actually near Mildura) for the Sunraysia Safari. Just before competitors set off for 1200ks of cross country he caught up with Rob & Dean Herridge under Maximum Motorsport E-Z Up. What brings them back to this gruelling event and the ‘David n Goliath’ fight they wage in their Subaru’s including a new WRX. It’s a cool story of Father and Son rallying together in truly unique countryside on the edge of the desert. Then Tony Quinn joins us and we know how much you love a TQ catch-up. He’s come straight from Tailem Bend where his grandson Ryder turned heads with an epic drive in GT4. Tony talks about trying to win Sunraysia again in a Dakar spec V8 powered Navara. And he’s still keeping an eye on The Bend this weekend as his Triple 8 team tries to win the first of the Supercars enduros this season. Rally fans, Supercars supporters, GT enthusiasts. There’s something for all of you in the ep. Enjoy. Head to Rusty's Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and give us your feedback and let us know who you want to hear from on Rusty's Garage.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to our motorsports podcast where we discuss F1, IndyCar, IMSA, NASCAR, our own racing adventures, and some other adventures!Denny Hamlin takes the win at Gateway. He locks himself into the next round of the playoffs.WEC had its Lone Star Le Mans weekend at COTA and it was a wet one! Multiple drivers were going off and it tested and pushed everyone to their limits. The end of the race came down to a tire strategy of whether to go onto dry tires or stick with the wets. In Hypercar, Porsche won the race while staying on wets for the entirety. In GT3, McLaren took the win while switching to dry tires.F1 went to the temple of speed this past weekend, Monza, where Verstappen dominated Qualifying and the Race. The talk of the race though was a message delivered from the McLaren pit wall to instruct Piastri to "let Lando by". We discuss the situation and give our thoughts on McLaren's handling of their drivers during not only this race but this season.Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Bristol, Supercars at The Bend, and MotoGP is in Misano.
Mark Winterbottom is one of Australia's most successful Supercars drivers, but his success didn't come easy. Growing up with a mother battling cancer and struggling to make ends meet, a raffle ticket changed the course of his career. Winning a mini-bike as a kid fuelled his passion for motorsport, which saw him move into a successful karting career and formula racing. His path to glory at Mount Panorama wasn't quick or easy, but for the man affectionately known as 'Frosty', his grit and determination finally saw him take out the Bathurst 1000 in 2013. In this episode, Mark details the struggles he faced growing up, how he turned trauma and weakness into fuel for success, and how he never took no for an answer. Just like the great riders and drivers this is a story of a self taught artisan who passionately dedicates himself to the craft spending long hours every day to personalize helmets that could easily be on display in a gallery. Working with Chaz Mostert, Greg Murphy, James Courtney, Shane van Gisbergen and many more to capture and express their personalities and to keep bringing a freshness to each design. How his background was the perfect foundation for this unlikely career path and the Michael Schumacher replica that started it all. Expanding into custom trims to give each ‘lid’ that special touch. And why he won’t compromise on quality in the race to finish a number of new helmets ahead of the Supercars enduros. Sometimes Billy says things and we don't even realise he's stuffed up, but he kicks off the show with the All Sports Report - as the Suns and Bombers make changes ahead of the final game of the 2025 season. Triple M Footy's Kate McCarthy calls in to discuss Mitch Brown becoming the first openly bisexual AFL player - what it means for the queer community, and why the AFLW is light years ahead of the AFL in this space. Jack and Bryce battle it out in a very chaotic Hump Day Quiz, and Supercars legend Mark Winterbottom is in studio to talk about his new book and the Supercars Grand Final happening in Adelaide later this year. Billy has a new showbiz segment, JB had a nightmare day at the shops, and Fremantle's Patrick Voss calls in as he gears up for his first finals series. Motorsport fans are getting a look inside the career of one of the more recognisable names in Supercars. After 21 years, last year saw Mark Winterbottom retire from full time driving. His career included a championship win in 2015 in his infamous Ford at the height of the Ford v Holden rivalry, a Bathurst win, and 39 wins overall. Although he may have retired from full time driving, Winterbottom has signed on to be a mentor and co-driver for Tickford Driving – partnering with Cam Waters. He's also taken the time to write a memoir, ‘Frosty - The incredible true story of the boy from Blacktown who became a Bathurst king'. Winterbottom comes from a working class background and his introduction to the world of motorsport came at a young age. “I sort of started motorsport at eight years old,” he told Mike Hosking. “And at 44 now, I love it more than I ever have.” “I've always thought of it as a privilege to race cars, but when you have that taken away from you, or your time stops, I think you appreciate it even more.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's been an incredible rise for Kiwi Supercars driver Ryan Wood. Racing for Walkinshaw Andretti United last year, he helped the team to 3rd in the Teams Championship —their highest finish since 2016— and was widely considered the best rookie on the grid. This year has already seen him claim a win in race 14, with multiple podium appearances under his belt, as well as a host of Top 10 finishes. Wood told Mike Hosking he's really happy with the improvements they've made over the last year since moving into the main game. “It's been a great year so far,” he said. “Really excited for, obviously, the big races coming up, and it should be a huge challenge.” “Hopefully we're ready for it.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're back after a short pit stop — almost the same crew, slightly tweaked format, and still as straight-shooting as ever. This week, we pull apart Supercars' return to Queensland Raceway, where Broc Feeney decided to dominate for fun… and even jumped the start to keep himself entertained. We'll cover who else shone, who got lucky under Safety Car, and how a monster crowd also meant a monster queue to get out.We also reflect on the life and legacy of the late John Sheppard, discuss Shane van Gisbergen's NASCAR hot streak, and the rough day for Connor Zilisch, who punted SVG to win an Xfinity race, fell off his own car i his victory celebration, and left with a broken collarbone. SVG would never do that, he just falls off mountain bikes. All that, plenty of opinions, and maybe a little mischief. So strap in — The RevLimiter is back.PLUS, we have discounts galore. In this episode, I had a great time talking with Mitch, Matt, and a bunch of fans of the alt-rock band Jesus Chrysler Supercar. Besides having a fantastic name, this band plays some excellent alt-rock music loaded with hooks and melodies. The thing is they had formed in the 90's and called it quits for over 20 years. Recently, they have gotten back together to create new music and haven't lost a step. Check out new songs “Get Out of Dodge” or “Two Sticks” for a taste. It was a lot of fun talking with Matt and Mitch about the history, songwriting, and what is to come. Hopefully, I'll get to meet Mitch in person at the upcoming Detroit Music Mixer (Aug 17 at Guitar HiFi in Royal Oak).Jesus Chrysler SupercarCheck out his musicFollow on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, SpotifyFans With BandsSubscribe to Fans With Bands on your favorite podcast service such as Apple, Youtube, Spotify, Audible, or Amazon Music. Floyd Raglin isn't just selling cars. He's selling status, speed, and the dream. As one of the top luxury auto consultants in the country, Floyd has built a reputation at the highest level — working with Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, and clients who don't blink at six-figure price tags. It’s been a big 24 hours in the Supercars paddock with the final piece of the endurance driver line-up locked away - Nash Morris joins us on the pod for the first time to talk about it. The selection process he went through at Premiair and why he was no certainty to get the co-driver’s job alongside former Bathurst winner Richie Stanaway. Nash also shares a funny yarn on what made him change course and follow a race driver career path back in 2019. This is a radio-style newsy ep so we have not one but two interviews for you in this edition. RedBull Ampol Racing’s Mark Dutton also joins us to talk about fencing in Broc Feeney and Will Brown until the end of the decade! A move that caught a few of us by surprise. Were they at risk of ‘poacher’s moving in and how the Ford Mustang project is coming along ahead of the team’s big switch in 2026. Plus the latest on their wildcard after Zach Bate’s test at Queensland Raceway in recent days as the legendary Craig Lowndes chapter with the squad nears an end. Oh and some thoughts on the F1 commentary leaning into ‘British Bias’ despite Oscar Piastri’s dominance at Spa and why we might have to accept that’s just the way it is for now.
