Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker break down the Blue Jays' 7-4 loss vs. the Phillies to wrap up the series in Toronto. They take your calls and texts, and discuss the return of Max Scherzer - despite notching the milestone K, what does the future look like for Mad Max, both as a Blue Jay and overall? They get into the offence scuffling against Jesús Luzardo - why does it seem to struggle against pitchers with an inflated ERA? Plus, they look ahead to the conclusion of the homestand, which ends in a showdown with the Yankees. Former Blue Jays MVP Josh Donaldson (0:43) joins Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker to kick off the second hour. He shares his experience playing in a local slow-pitch softball game, the challenges Max Scherzer faces as he returns to the Jays' rotation, and how Vladimir Guerrero Jr. can get his power back. Then, Jeff and Kevin listen to John Schneider's pre-game availability ahead of the Jays' series finale against the Phillies. Later, Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker (27:05) joins the show to discuss what he expects from Scherzer in his return, the team's confidence in Jeff Hoffman, the expanded workloads for Braydon Fisher and Mason Fluharty, and whether Spencer Miles will get a look in higher leverage. Christi and Kelly recap and react to Dance Moms season 5, episode 21 — “Dance Moms Down Under, Part 2.”The Australia trip continues, but this episode feels different from a normal competition week. There is no usual pyramid-to-competition rhythm, and Christi and Kelly both point out that the whole thing feels a little off. Instead, the episode follows the team through Australia as Abby plans a Mad Max-inspired showcase routine for Maddie, Mackenzie, Kendall, and Kalani — while Nia and JoJo are once again left out of the main ALDC plan. That divide becomes the center of the episode. Christi and Kelly react to Nia getting her own performance in Melbourne, Mikey flying in to work with her, and how different the energy feels when Nia is being built up instead of torn down. They also break down the fallout from the Ireland video mocking JoJo, the moms defending the girls' apology, and JoJo admitting that even if you forgive something, you do not just forget it.Grab your tickets to our LIVE TOUR here: x1entertainment.com/bttb See you in 2026!!Welcome to Back to the Barre, the ultimate podcast channel where Kelly Hyland and Christi Lukasiak from Dance Moms spill the tea, share the laughs, and take you behind the scenes of your favorite reality TV moments!

Suggest an interview for Cheryl Lee or let us know who your favorite interviewee is so farJoin Cheryl Lee - That Radio Chick on STILL ROCKIN' IT for news, reviews, music and interviews with some of our favourite Australian musiciansA lot of festivals chase scale. Greg Donovan chased a feeling: live Australian music under huge outback skies, surrounded by people who actually talk to each other. I'm Cheryl Lee, and I'm joined by Greg, the founder and organizer behind the Big Red Bash and the Mundi Mundi Bash, to unpack how a remote desert idea turns into one of the biggest events in Outback Australia. The surprising part is where it begins: fundraising runs for his son Stephen's Type 1 diabetes, a John Williamson moment on Big Red, and a spark that said, “What if more people could experience this?”We get into the real mechanics of building an outback music festival from scratch: learning production costs the hard way, pushing through early losses, and the career turning point that came with redundancy after decades in insurance. Greg shares how booking major Aussie acts helped the Big Red Bash find its audience, and why the Mundi Mundi Bash near Broken Hill was created to be more accessible for caravans, motorhomes, and travelers who want red dirt magic without the longest haul. The conversation goes beyond the lineup into what makes these events feel like a community: Big Blue Day for mental health fundraising with Beyond Blue, world record attempts, bush dances supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and a culture of costumes that ranges from Tina Turner to Mad Max.We also talk Mad Max filming history on the Mundi Mundi Plains, what surprised Greg most about touring artists, and the economic boost the festival brings to towns across the region. If you love Australian music, outback travel, and the behind-the-scenes reality of festivals that survive tough years, hit play, share this with a friend who needs a road trip, and subscribe plus leave a review so more listeners can find Still Rockin' It.What is all the Mundi Mundi Bash goss? Should we have picked Mac & Me, or Mad Max for the letter M? Well, we didn't choose either. We chose Minority Report, the fast paced Spielberg thriller from 2002. We talk about how the film has aged, and how well Spielberg put this tiny masterpiece together. This week, Mike lets listeners run the show! It's an "Ask Mike Anything" episode where our intrepid host tackles questions asked by listeners. Here are the questions covered in this episode. At what point do we start trading in metals instead of paper currency? What does that timeline look like, and where are we currently on that timeline? How will the higher price of oil impact overall consumer price inflation? Higher oil prices cause higher prices in certain goods, but will it also lessen demand and prices in other areas? I heard an ad for a gold seller that said, "Some experts claim that gold could hit 6 thousand this year." I'm typically dubious of ads that say "some experts", rather than citing specific experts. 1 - Do you know of any reputable experts making this claim? 2 - Do you agree? 3 - Do you think the January peak is likely the highest we'll see this year? Why or why not? As SHTF scenarios become more likely, metals will be a life-saving alternative to fiat. Dealers put a high premium on rare collectible coins, whereas I only value the metal content of coins. Will these collectibles retain extra value when Mad Max hits town? Does AI feel like a bubble to you based on the huge valuations of these companies? Should people consider trading the gold/silver ratio? If so, when? And if the refiners get backed up, will it be even possible? Silver has been significantly outpacing gold. Do you see this continuing, and should we expect a rate cut with the new Fed Chair, even if inflation rises? Texas established a precious metals depository with the ability to conduct transactions within the depository. Can you give us an update on how that's progressing and if any other states have done something similar? What is a realistic way of making it normal to trade and pay for items in precious metals? Are there good precious metal-backed currencies that you like? Maybe talk a little bit about the lead time between cause and effect. Related to the old saying health is wealth, you managed to play goalie and do it well long after younger (and lesser) men have hung up their skates. How do you manage to do this? To be clear, no joking, I'd very much like to hear the answer.
What happens when a global pandemic triggers a fertility crisis, and the world stops having children? This week on The Commentary Booth, Jamie Apps and Corrina Mabey dive into The Run, the gripping new Australian dystopian sci-fi thriller written and directed by Stephen De Villiers. Set in a hauntingly familiar post-COVID landscape of sealed-off towns and germ paranoia, the film follows Mac (Callan Mulvey), an aging smuggler past his prime, who is forced to protect a runaway teenager, Aliah (Charlotte Maggi), and her infant. As Jamie and Corrina break down the film's tense, low-key violence and powerful character drama, they draw direct comparisons to The Last of Us and The Road.Plus, stick around for an exclusive interview with writer/director Stephen De Villiers. He reveals why the budget forced a complete rewrite of the ending, how the COVID lockdowns reshaped the script, and the creepy story behind using the Australian classic ‘Come Said the Boy' as an unsettling anthem.Highlights Breakdown: - The Last of Us, Mad Max & The Road comparisons - Pandemic parallels, lockdowns & fertility crisis themes - Exclusive interview with writer/director Stephen De Villiers - Influences from The Last of Us and Logan - Why violence is mostly implied, not graphic - Breaking down the film's ambiguous ending - Character tension, survival themes & standout momentsIf you love Australian cinema, dystopian thrillers, sci-fi world-building, or post-apocalyptic survival stories, this is an episode you won't want to miss. The Run is available to rent or buy on digital platforms from June 17This week's episode is brought to you byAustralian Wrestling CardsCheck out more great content from Pario Magazine on our website.-------------------------------------------------------------SUPPORT PARIO MAGAZINE & THE COMMENTARY BOOTH- PATREON- BUY MERCH- AMAZON PRIME VIDEO- TUBEBUDDY- Subscribe to AEW Plus using my code (q0yydoz) to earn $10 in FITE credit- Shop Online With Honey- Shop Online With SatechiMY EQUIPMENT- Elgato Facecam- Rode PodMic- Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP- Streamlabs Talk StudioFOLLOW JAMIE ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Twitter- Facebook- Instagram- TikTokFOLLOW PARIO MAGAZINE ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Twitter- Facebook- Instagram

This week on Born to Watch, Whitey flies solo for a massive deep dive into 1982: Year in Review, revisiting one of the most important, influential and completely stacked years in cinema history. While 1982 might not officially hold the crown as the greatest movie year ever, it delivered a collection of films that completely changed Hollywood forever. In this special episode, Whitey breaks down how one single year gave us E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Blade Runner, The Thing, First Blood, Rocky III, Poltergeist, Conan the Barbarian and Tron all within the same incredible stretch of cinema history.Whitey explores the insane eight-week period where science fiction and fantasy films absolutely rewired Hollywood forever. It was the year when genre filmmaking exploded, CGI truly began, practical effects reached their peak, and audiences somehow ignored two movies that are now regarded as masterpieces: Blade Runner and The Thing. There's a huge breakdown of the 1982 box office top ten, including Whitey revisiting Spielberg's emotional masterpiece E.T., which held the box office record for an entire decade. He reflects on how modern kids' movies rarely hit adults emotionally the same way they once did, admitting E.T. absolutely destroyed him on the cry meter during a recent rewatch. The episode also revisits cult favourites like First Blood, with Whitey passionately defending it as one of the great character-driven action films of the 1980s. There's love for Stallone's unbelievable double act of releasing both Rocky III and First Blood in the same year, proving just how dominant Sly was during the early 80s.Whitey also dives into why Rocky III remains one of the best Rocky films ever made, praising Mr T as one of the greatest movie villains of the decade and celebrating the pure charisma he brought to Clubber Lang despite having no acting experience.Australian cinema gets its flowers too, with a huge spotlight on Mad Max 2 and The Man from Snowy River. Whitey argues that both films stand proudly alongside any Hollywood blockbuster of the era and explains how Mad Max 2 became the blueprint for almost every post-apocalyptic movie that followed. There's also a deep appreciation for practical effects and filmmaking craftsmanship throughout the episode. Whitey passionately argues that The Thing still contains the greatest practical creature effects ever put to screen, while Blade Runner's vision of a futuristic Los Angeles remains one of the most influential science fiction worlds ever created.Along the way, there are classic Born to Watch tangents and stories, including:Whitey is getting in trouble in Year 4 after explaining an infamous scene from The World According to GarpChildhood memories of The Pirate Movie soundtrackThe bizarre success of Porky'sWhy does Tootsie make more money than Blade Runner feel completely wrongHow Grease 2 became one of the ugliest moments of 1982 cinemaWhitey also celebrates underrated classics like Firefox, Creepshow, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and 48 Hrs., while exploring how 1982 represented a time when studios were still willing to take massive creative risks on strange, ambitious and original films. This is one of the biggest movie deep dives Born to Watch has ever done, packed full of nostalgia, movie trivia, hilarious stories and genuine love for cinema.JOIN THE CONVERSATION Was 1982 the greatest movie year ever? We're headed back to the wasteland for Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior! Our first order of business: making sense of the title variants. After discussing where this fits into the Mad Max chronology, we talk about the many things that Fast and Furious lifted from this movie (including a look back at past Fast & Furious Minute documents!). We explore the lore and fan theories that Mad Max 2 created, admire the film's many deaths (and the freedom of having that as an option), and ask: who are the good guys? Are there good guys? We talk about action scene fakeouts and the ingenuity with the stunts - as well as where things almost went horribly wrong. In a podcast first (?!?), we make an on-air scheduling pivot! Show your support at the 2 Fast 2 Forever shop!Extra special shout-out to Alex Elonen, Brian Rodriguez (High School Slumber Party), Lane Middleton, Jason Rainey, Wes Hampton, Josh Buckley (Whole Lotta Wolves), Michael Moser, Terra New One, Aaron Woloszyn, and Randy Carter for joining at the “Interpol's Most Wanted” level or above!Intro music by Nico Vasilo. Interlude and outro music by Wes Hampton.

Colin Bozell drove two different cars to victory lane over the weekend at two different race tracks! Plus, hear from GLSS Rookie driver, Graham Huffman. Finally, a word from Winston Speedway owner, Andrew Heykoop ahead of their season opener on Friday night!
Devin & James are back in the Den, and we're ready to hit the road with special guest CASEY O'CONNOR! This time we're deep diving into one of the most unique movie series ever created, THE MAD MAX SAGA!From the grimy exploitation charm of MAD MAX, through the high-octane thrills of THE ROAD WARRIOR and BEYOND THUNDERDOME, to the violent elegance of FURY ROAD and FURIOSA, there is really no other series that compares with George Miller's apocalyptic vision of the future.Along the way we discuss Australian biker films, Mel Gibson, Vernon Well's ass-less chaps (aren't they all?), bone-crunching stunts, Tina Turner in a car chase (!), the series' Oscar-winning return 30 years later on the shoulders of Charlize Theron & Tom Hardy, and how Chris Hemsworth fits into one of the greatest lineups of villains to ever rule a wasteland. We even take a moment to acknowledge the massive pop culture footprint the films have, leading to a million imitators from 1990: The Bronx Warriors to Waterworld. Join us as we ride eternal, shiny and chrome, into Valhalla!
We kick off todays episode with some week day adventures, where a man was questioning my shopping choices when they had really questionable shopping choices. From there i speak about my big mouth setting me up for failure (pause). The same way i talk with y'all i talk the same around my coworkers and it led to an awkward encounter and people thought i was shooting shots at them. Than we end the section with me telling y'all i went to do some job training and I noticed i think i have a learning disability, and my teachers may have been right ( 00:00 - 24:15 )In the movie review section we talk about film movies and other things and give the worse takes. This week we're critiquing the movie “ Sisu 2” if you haven't seen Sisu 1 you're not really missing out. This is an over the top action film that is a mixture of Mad Max, Snow Piercer and slightly a silent film, but just for the main character.( 24:16 - 34:48 )I then jump into The Cool Report where we discuss how El Chapo is tired of us and wants to go home, he said he promises he won't escape again, scouts promise. We than talk about the Stefon Diggs case, and how he was acquitted of accusations. Which led to the conversation of can we get people that make these fake accusation charged with some sort of crime. We then jump into Akash Singh stepping away from the Flagrant 2 podcast, and it seems like he is still dealing with the aftermath of the controversy surrounding his wife. I do wish him the best because i like his stand up. ( 34:49 - 01:02:32 )We then step into a segment where the listeners ask me 3 questions about myself or just randomness. A character wants to know if i would clap vampire cheeks from the last episode, the answer if yes, does a vampire wear sunglasses at night. We then jump into the hip hop media ranking, and that top 5 was off for me. Then we get one more question which is what is more personal, handing out your social media or phone number. I know bought question but I shall answer.( 01:02:33 - 01:22:18 )Then we have 2 fans ask us a questions for PTL where we get asked the tough questions where we place ourselves in their shoes. A lover has a question about the one question that keeps coming back and back on why men aren't persistent anymore when trying to court them, they feel men have given up on trying to meet them. Another lover wants togo back to the days where we judge people before we get to know them, and as messed up as it sounds… sometimes there are signs to RUN AWAY!!!!!( 01:22:19 - 01:35:36 )THE FINThanks to everyone that shows us love and wish y'all the best on the journey called life.( 01:35:37 - 01:37:13 )please continue to like, share, comment and subscribe. This week the Bad Dads take a pounding with The Bleeder (2016), the Liev Schreiber-led biopic of Chuck Wepner — the Bayonne brawler whose improbable 15-round fight with Muhammad Ali inspired Sylvester Stallone to write Rocky. Drop us a line or two . . .This episode kicks off mid-chaos, as all the best ones do. Queenie's smoking a Triangle Kush pre-roll from Ghost ("it's an Indica — very nice") and TT has accidentally consumed 25 milligrams of passion fruit gummy thinking it was maybe a half of a 20. She's boarding a 5:30 a.m. flight to come see Queenie, a flight that somehow routes through Atlanta and somehow cost her $81 more than advertised because she didn't realize clicking seats wasn't free. The airlines are a grift, Spirit is dead, and — naturally — it's Biden's fault.Which leads, as all conversations apparently do, directly to Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Al Gore, Watergate, and the complete collapse of civics education in America. The women agree: we haven't recovered from Watergate and younger people probably don't know what it is, and here we are. TT brings the news segment, reporting on the DEA rescheduling saga — cannabis going from Schedule I to Schedule III — with the Johns Hopkins/University of San Diego analysis of nearly 50,000 public comments showing most people felt the move didn't go nearly far enough. Descheduling is the word on the street, and a new comment period is open. They also wade briefly into the psychedelics conversation, genuinely puzzled about how mushrooms got in the policy fast lane while cannabis has been grinding for 50 years. Then things get... existential. TT casually drops that her breakfast friends are considering purchasing firearms because they're worried America is heading toward Mad Max territory. Queenie's jaw hits the floor. A real, surprisingly tender conversation follows about fear, scarcity mentality, whether humanity trends toward cooperation or self-preservation, the American Revolution as a civil war, the London Blitz, Sophie's Choice, and — somehow — whether dogs get a better afterlife than people (they clearly do, and TT would prefer to go where the dogs go). The Fuck It segment delivers a listener submission: saying fuck it to tolerating racist, homophobic, or just plain nasty relatives and acquaintances who've gotten newly emboldened. The consensus: read the room, keep your hands to yourself, and if you can't be respectful, don't say anything at all. The episode closes with two absolute banger original songs — one about the hosts' prepper neighbors with their freeze-dried everything and ham radios, and the other a midlife manif Welcome to the Closet Disco Queen Pot-Cast, a #1 ranked Women in Cannabis (Feedspot, Million Pods; 2025) comedy podcast with music and pop culture references that keeps you laughing and engaged. Was davon schockiert heute eher, was funktioniert noch und wo grinst man vielleicht doch heimlich?Als Brückenschlag zur Gegenwart streuen die beiden eine Stimme aus Entwicklerkreisen ein: In ausgewählten Zitaten aus einem Interview mit Carmageddon: Rogue Shift-Director Giuseppe Franchi geht es darum, was für ihn den Kern der Reihe ausmacht und wie sich diese DNA in ein modernes Roguelite übertragen lässt. Robert Zemeckis' 1997 film of Carl Sagan's Contact is a remarkably grown-up science fiction movie for a summer blockbuster. Starring Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey, it took nearly 20 years to bring the story to the screen - and along the way, Mad Max director George Miller was hired and fired too. It's quite a story, told by Simon Brew in this latest episode. Plus! Oscar-winning filmmaker David Frankel chats to James about The Devil Wears Prada 2, and the short film that earned him an Academy Award... Learn more about your ad choices. It's time for another Not-So-Terrible-2s! First up is The Road Warrior, as called in America, but known to everyone else in the world as Mad Max 2. It's a roller coaster thrill ride that proves George Miller to be one of the greatest action movie directors to ever live. Starring Mel Gibson, Bruce Spence, and Emil Minty (and an awesome Dog).

We're having fun with more strange and familiar things this week on the Video Store Podcast, looking at four films that the Duffer Brothers took inspiration from for the second season of Stranger Things. If you missed the first installment of this series, go check out the first part, “Things to Watch After Stranger Things I.”Ghostbusters (1984)We're keeping it light and breezy to start this week's show with Ghostbusters (1984). It's a silly comedy with a healthy dose of spooky fun. Yes, our leading young guys are dressed as Ghostbusters, have their own proton packs, PKE Meters, and ghost traps to bust all the ghosts in the neighborhood. But what makes this an inspiration for Stranger Things season 2 is the haunted feeling our cast has during this season. And of course, Dustin catches a baby demogorgon with his ghost trap. What's not to like about that? Aliens (1986)Next is the sequel to 1979's Alien, Aliens, directed by James Cameron. This sci-fi action horror flick gives Stranger Things season 2 inspiration for its newest form of demogorgon, the demodog, as well as flamethrowers aplenty. Eleven is a mini-Sigourney Weaver in aesthetics and tenacity. And can we really trust Doc Owens if he is played by Paul Reiser, aka Burke from Aliens? Guess you'll just have to watch Aliens and find out. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)Terminator 2: Judgment Day is the second example of a sequel that sticks the landing in today's show, and truly, that's why Stranger Things season 2 nods to it. As James Cameron sought to honor the original source material and give it a twist with Aliens, he does the same with Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The film turns expectations upside down, and that's exactly what Stranger Things season 2 does! And for that reason, it's worth watching the film to see what jumped to Stranger Things. You'll be back for more! The Exorcist (1973)The final film I've got for you today is often called “The Scariest Movie of All Time,” 1973's The Exorcist. And with good reason! This film's final act inspires the Stranger Things season 2 finale's final act as well. There are also certain parallels that can be drawn between Father Karras' journey and Hopper's journey to be a father. This is a really scary film, and it's not for everyone, but it is a film that's worth watching at least once. Honorable MentionsGo back and listen to Flack talk about Gremlins in his “I'm Dreaming of a Bloody Christmas” episode. I discussed Stand By Me in my “Film Friendships” show, which was visually referenced in the first two seasons of Stranger Things (and it won't be the last time either). Flack talks on the Ozploitation genre in his “Ozploitation Cinema” episode, of which Mad Max is the most famous, which is where Max gets her gamer tag in the Dig Dug game. Finally, I would be beyond remiss if I failed to include the most obvious reference---Eleven, dressed as a ghost, begging to go out for Halloween, just like E. T. did in E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which I covered in my first installment of this series. There are loads more I could mention, but I'll spare you that today. Come talk to me after hours if you want the full thesis dissertation. Thanks again for joining us today on the Video Store Podcast. Thank you!Last year she organized her entire race plan by fictional universe. It was Galaxy Quest to start, Dune through the desert, Game of Thrones when it was time to race. It ended up being pure Mad Max the whole way through. She's back. This year the theme is Cocodona the Musical. In this episode of Flagstaff Bound, Kevin sits down solo with Allison Powell — returning ultrarunner, storyteller, coach, Montana community builder, and Jeff Garmire's fiancée — for one of the most fun conversations in the series. Allison talks about what last year actually looked like out there when the weather came in and survival mode took over, why she's ditching the multi-universe structure this year in favor of one overarching theme of whimsy, and what it means to race the same 250-mile race as your partner while keeping everything completely separate — different crews, different bubbles, different tents the night before. She also talks about the Montana chapter of Women in Ultrarunning, why she's running for Runners for Public Lands this year, and what getting more women to the start line of races like Cocodona actually requires. Her chalkboard message at Mingus is about Air Bud. She has opposable thumbs. She can do this.Cocodona 250 kicks off Monday, May 4th at 5 AM Pacific. Follow the action live on the Mountain Outpost YouTube channel.
Sho Alli and Daniele Franceschi break down the Blue Jays' 8-6 loss vs. the Guardians in the series opener. They take your calls and texts, and get right to Max Scherzer allowing seven earned runs over 2.1 IP - should he have been pulled sooner to give the waking bats a chance? What is his role going forward if he can't be a member of the starting rotation with Trey Yesavage and José Berríos on their way back, and has even Patrick Corbin earned a role over him? Plus, they debate the year Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is having when it comes to power expectations, discuss a long solo bomb from Kazuma Okamoto, and check in on Nathan Lukes who departed early with an injury. This week's Frankly is part two of the series How to Think About the Future. Today, Nate expands on the case for holding a distribution of possible futures rather than a single preferred one, and walks through a structured scenario-building exercise. He begins with the two-by-two grid that he has used for years, which indicates whether the economy will expand or contract and whether this happens within ecological limits or in overshoot. The four quadrants this produces represent possible directions toward the future: toward green growth, Mordor, Mad Max, or the Great Simplification. From there, Nate layers three more grids on top of this economic foundation. A grid focused on power – military, political, financial, and technological – asks how concentrated each is and where the gains flow. A grid regarding geopolitics maps cooperation and adversarial relations against interdependence and self-sufficiency, using the Strait of Hormuz closure as a live example of an adversarial and interdependent geopolitical makeup. Finally, an Earth systems grid tracks climate stress and biosphere integrity, taking into account that we are operating from an already compromised baseline. Nate also describes the role of technology as a modifier across all these grids, which amplifies whatever direction the surrounding system is already moving. He emphasizes that the real future will always come as a composite across these layers, and that the same economic headline produces radically different lived realities depending on the power, geopolitical, and ecological conditions it sits inside. Where do you find yourself already settled on a particular view of the future, and what gets filtered out when you are? Of the four grids Nate lays out, which feels most defining in your thinking, and which do you tend to underweight? What other grids might matter for anticipating the future, and how might they interact with the ones here? Four movies enter. One Part 4 leaves. This week, we're cracking open some drinks and diving into the cinematic danger zone: the fourth installment. Is Mad Max: Fury Road the greatest action sequel ever made? Does Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire win on dragons and trauma alone? Can The Bourne Legacy sneak in with pure spy paranoia? And… is Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol secretly the people's champion? We argue, we spiral, we make questionable claims with full confidence. It's Part 4 chaos—and we're taking it way too seriously.-------------------------------------------------------------email: openmicmovies@latertaterfilms.comwebsite: openmicmovies.buzzsprout.cominstagram: @latertaterfilms

We're headed down under this week to watch the original Mad Max and learn things, like: Max is a cop?! After sharing our histories with Mad Max (and how this movie is most likely new to both of us), we compare it to Fury Road and discuss how we watched Mad Max as a prequel. Joey shares research on the emergency room and gas shortage origins for this story, we talk about how the creativity and talent overcame the miniscule budget, and we discuss George Miller's aims: to create a silent movie with sound, car action meets horror, and "a Western in new clothes." We look up the Mad Max timeline to make sense of when and where we are. Joey shares a thing that unsettled him; Joe praises some "redneck ingenuity." For a change, we give credit to the people who make the Fast & Furious movies. Also: did Saw steal from this movie?! Email us: family@cageclub.meVisit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. Kevin Costner spent $200 million making a Mad Max ripoff on the open ocean — and the man has gills behind his ears. That's right. Waterworld's hero is a merman. A gill-having, web-toed, pee-drinking merman. And Cinema Psychos is here to ask the only question that matters: Really That Awful? Brian and John go full deep dive on Waterworld (1995), one of Hollywood's most notorious production disasters and one of the most divisive bad movies of the 1990s. They cover everything: why shooting on open ocean is genuinely suicidal for a film budget, how Kevin Costner fired his own director mid-edit and took over post-production himself, why Dennis Hopper is the only person on screen who clearly knows what kind of movie he's in, and how a world where the polar ice caps have entirely melted somehow still has a drinking water shortage. There are plot holes deep enough to lose a submarine in. There are action scenes with the energy of a kid smashing action figures together with no plan. There is a bungee cord rescue sequence that defies physics, logic, and basic narrative structure and secretly rules. And there is one man. Part human. Part fish. All Kevin Costner. Rob Bernstein opens with a produced satirical cold open hitting Lindsey Graham, Hegseth purging generals, animals judging your kinks, and Israel's negotiation strategy of assassinating people mid-talks. The main show kicks off with the Kristi Noem husband scandal -- Rob wrestles with crossing his own "leave the guy alone" red line before diving into the bigger question: how does the political machine have a dirt folder ready on everyone the second they turn on you? From there, Rob gives a quick update on the Charlie Kirk shooting inconsistencies (inconclusive bullet match, sheriff resigning, trial pushed back), predicts the shooter becomes "the left's Kyle Rittenhouse," then moves to Trump attending Supreme Court oral arguments on birthright citizenship and trying to stare down his own appointees. The bulk of the episode is a deep breakdown of Trump's Iran war speech -- Rob reads the transcript line by line, exposing contradictions about regime change, the Hormuz Strait "naturally" reopening, and the claim that Iran was about to nuke the entire Middle East. He riffs on data centers becoming war targets ("I don't want to have to go back to thinking"), shouts out Claude over Grok for AI accuracy, pitches Mad Max oil tankers with Trump holograms singing "Can't Touch This" as a cheaper alternative to $1.5B/day war spending, and covers the UAE joining the Hormuz fight and Dubai squeezing IRGC money flows. The tariff segment highlights businesses wasting time trying to figure out overly complicated metal tariff rules. The show closes with Pam Bondi getting fired as AG -- Rob questions whether she'll flip on Trump at her deposition or take a cushy private sector job to keep quiet.
