Digital transformation is a difficult undertaking for any organisation. Many incumbents fail in their attempts to change the mindset, behaviour, practices and technology that will help them remain competitive, presenting a market opportunity for companies that can bring speed, technology and agility to service them. Fintechs have seized the opportunity to serve as surrogates for incumbents, helping them modernize their digital experiences and keep up with customer expectations. A company that has successfully equipped banks and other financial institutions, serving over 100 million customers worldwide, with state of the art digital experiences is Meniga out of Iceland. We had the opportunity to sit down with their founder Georg Ludvikson to understand how fintech are helping banks stay at the forefront of their business. In this session you'll learn more about how Meniga is ultraprersonalising experiences for millions of banking customers, making digital banking, smart, intuitive and relevant. Our banking history tells a story about us, it's about time banks use that knowledge to help customers live better financial lives.

Meniga Co-Founder and CEO Georg Ludviksson sits down with Lloyd to outline how to found a successful FinTech. That’s a topic Georg has plenty of first-hand experience with. After developing one of Iceland’s most popular video games, Georg moved into tech, partnering with Nokia on an early mobile internet venture. That led him on to Harvard Business School before he founded Meniga, a digital banking company that boasts over 40 implementations with some of the world’s premiere retail banks. In his chat with Lloyd, Georg tells us why incumbents are actually making open banking possible and how the lines between banks and fintechs are blurring. Plus, he lays out how to have difficult conversations about founding equity, striking a balance between personal and business development, and how to maintain virtual relationships in a post-pandemic world.Follow Mana Search on Twitter: https://twitter.com/manasearchukFollow Mana Search on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/mana-talent/Episode Highlights:06:34: How Meniga is so much more than a core banking solution09:20: Why financial literacy is the key to career advancement14:12: Why have incumbents been hesitant to embrace open banking?20:30: Maintaining sustainable growth at Meniga26:13: How Georg created one of Iceland’s most popular video games31:53: Georg’s biggest tip for nw founders36:55: How Georg deals with leadership stress43:55: The best ways to balance work and personal life47:47: The trait that helped Georg succeed51:30: How to maintain virtual relationships56:20: Teasing Europe’s next up-and-coming tech hotspot

Chicago - Saturday in the park. Eddie Grant - Electric Avenue. Richard Hawley - Tonight the streets are ours. Sykurmolarnir - Deus. Ariana Grande - No tears left to cry. Mumford and sons - Beloved. Chaka Khan - Im every woman. Auður - Freðinn.
All the way from Sweden, our guest this week on #OTPBD is the first employee and former CTO of Spotify, Andreas Ehn! Whilst Andreas’ early education and career path started off in tech and engineering, he had always had an interest in business and entrepreneurship, which has made for an exciting and impressive career so far.Spotify has become one of the most popular music-streaming platforms of all time with over 200 million users to date. In Spotify’s formative years, Andreas brought together a world class technical team that designed and built the music-service product, however, the original genesis of this widely used app is an interesting startup story (and has much respect to timing). In a large part, illegal file-sharing company Pirate Bay (also Swedish born) helped paved a path for Spotify’s success in the music industry. Record labels were facing a time where piracy was at large more than ever, and at the time, Spotify’s music solution was the most promising to labels, and cheap and easily accessible to consumers.Post-Spotify, Andreas then co-founded and was CTO of his own business in 2011, Wrapp, a purchases and customer loyalty app which early this year was acquired by Meniga. Later on, he then became an active investor, with 15 investments typically early-stage. Andreas is currently a global Venture Partner with Antler, a global startup generator and early-stage VC that works by selecting talented individuals looking to start a business, connecting them with the right co-founder as well as a network of advisors worldwide. We’re thrilled to have Andreas on #OTPBD and hope you enjoy listening to this Ep!

What are Western companies missing out on and what can they learn from the East and the developing world on financial inclusion and accessibility? Duena Blomstrom is an independent digital banking consultant, entrepreneur, VC, speaker and, in her words, "uncomfortably opinionated blogger." For the past 18 years, Duena has worked across Telco and Finance on strategy and consulting for sales and marketing, including a 5-year stint as Head of Sales and Marketing for Meniga. During her time at Meniga, the company went from being a tiny Icelandic start-up to a market leader in customer engagement. Duena works at the intersection of technology and behavioral science. She's passionate about helping banks transition from thinking product set to thinking customer needs. She's a regular guest on blogs and podcasts including Breaking Banks, and we're lucky to have her with us today.
