Sleep becomes a dangerous thing while SG1 are off searching for Merlin's weapon in Morpheus. Back at the SGC, Landry has to decide if Vala can become a member of the SGC given her past. We actually really like these two storylines being in the same episode. The silliness and weirdness of Vala's escapades really help balance out the seriousness of what's happening off-world with SG1. We do wish they had gone into some more detail or at least speculation about how the parasite can travel from person to person, because we can't quite figure out how that happened. Also, how long does it take from infection to death? What exactly happened to Reimer? Was his heart attack the result of the parasite, or was it just a heart attack from all the caffeine and lack of sleep that affected him? The insight we get into Vala in this episode through all the testing really is wonderful to see. We can't wait to see how she grows from here. We've made it to SG1 season 10 and it's time to see what the Ori's plans are with Flesh and Blood. Now, in general we don't remember a lot about season 10 so this is going to be a fun "rewatch" for us.  Did everyone make it out alive after the explosive season 9 finale? Where are the ori going? What's with Vala's daughter? Seeing the flashbacks of how everyone survived was really great but also not so much because everyone else is dead. One of the coolest things, though, is Sam's rescue by Mitchell and Kvasir as they scoop her up with the Odyssey docking bay. So awesome! We do like this as a season premiere and a sort of reset of the status quo back to how things were with the goa'uld. And now we actually have a singular Bad Guy to focus on now. These things that he's talking about are simple game changers for anyone who is looking to keep improving. Check this message out:  “Be humble and kind. You could be wrong. Be forgiving. You also make mistakes. Be honest. Character is a door opener. Be generous. Givers sleep better at night. Be grateful. Luck seeks the thankful. Be courageous. Fight for your happiness. Be yourself, always. You will be happier.”  Who doesn't want to be genuinely more happy? Happiness is fleeting most of the time. Joy is more permanent. But following these guidelines sure does help. I had a wonderful conversation with a waitress yesterday. She had just turned 30 and she has 3 kids. Her attitude around the entire restaurant was amazing!! I watched as she really took the time to talk to and listen with an older man that I could tell was a regular and how his face lit up with a huge smile for the connection she was showing to him. I made sure to thank her for being a positive example for all of us to learn from. I also mentioned that I recently turned 60 and that I remember how much better life got after 30 - she said she's seeing it already! These things that Vala is sharing - are part of not putting up with negative things… and she mentioned that is what she's doing more of.
