Subscribe to Ensemble PSG on Substack for more episodes. For the second match in a row, Paris Saint-Germain will take on a Major League Soccer squad that they should defeat. However, the matchup against Inter Miami comes with a little extra motivation.Joining me on the latest Ensemble PSG Podcast are Daniel and Kris from Battered Herons, and Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise. We talk about PSG's upcoming match against Inter Miami in the Round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup and some of the drama swirling around the matchup. We begin with Daniel and Kris telling us about their podcast, and then jump into their initial thoughts after it was official that Inter Miami would face PSG. With a significant amount of prize money up for grabs to the winning squad, I ask whether that will be a strong motivator for the MLS team.Lionel Messi is obviously the biggest star for Inter Miami, but Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and even their manager, Javier Mascherano, will be familiar to PSG fans not only because of their careers but also from the 6-1 defeat to FC Barcelona in 2017. I ask about other Inter Miami players who could make an impact against PSG.Of course, we discuss PSG fans wanting to win big against Messi after some of his statements about the club following his departure. We also discuss whether Messi has to deliver an MLS Cup this season. We wrap up the show talking about Messi's impact in Miami, and we give our predictions.Thank you for listening and subscribing. Use the chat feature or leave a comment if you have a topic you want us to discuss on a future show. Allez, PSG!

In this thoughtful and often lighthearted episode of Jumpers For Goalposts, the late Jan Gorski-Mescir hosts a candid discussion on Liverpool FC's form during a transitional period. The panel dissects the challenges Brendan Rodgers faced following Luis Suárez's departure, the inconsistency of new signings, and the club's return to Champions League football. Amid the football analysis are touching reflections on Liverpool culture, shout-outs to journalists like Tony Barrett, and tongue-in-cheek talk of forming a band of "old farts." As always, Jan's warm presence and quick wit hold the conversation together. Originally aired under the title There Were Three, this episode is re-released in memory of Jan – a passionate fan, sharp mind, and much-missed voice in the LFC community. Auburn's men's basketball team had to turn its plane around because teammates were fighting on the plane and Bruce Pearl is getting props after they went out and won. You know who is not getting props? Lionel Messi. His Inter Miami Herons crashed out of the MLS Playoffs in disastrous fashion to Atlanta United and Greg Cote and Mike Ryan break down what went wrong. Luis Suárez shoved Team USA legend Brad Guzman (as Dan calls him) into the net after scoring a goal and it was uproariously funny. After that, we run through more football storylines including Deebo Samuel choking the San Francisco 49ers' long snapper, the Detroit Lions' great comeback win over the Houston Texans, Carson Beck stinking without Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey, and the New York Jets losing in epic fashion to the Arizona Cardinals. Plus, Chris Cote shares a poem about the Miami Hurricanes that leads us down a steamy path. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
