POPULARITY
We travel back to Minnesota in 1912 to discover the tragic case of a young woman slain just yards from home: so close to safety, yet so far from salvation. She was popular and hardworking, with a loving, happy family, and no enemies. So how was it possible that a man confessed multiple times to killing 21-year-old Alice Matthews, but nobody was ever taken to trial? Thanks for listening! Support: Accidentally added a season to your show in PowerPress? So did we. Double check your settings for Apple Podcasts in the plugin and if you have added a season or two, you can easily edit them out. But, we’re planning now to fix this in a new version of PowerPress. One-on-one consulting with customers is booked two weeks out. Please be patient and we’ll do our absolute best to assist via email and phone. We do have loads of videos here. You don’t need permission, but you probably need some guidance. And by that, we mean please ask us before you move your website to something other than WordPress. On the Monday March 30 edition of The Bettor’s Box, host Adam Burke tried to keep his regular show format as if we had games to discuss. He started with a look Beyond the Box Score to talk about first inning scoring and how to handle bullpens, including the thought process that goes into making a 1st 5 bet or a full-game wager. He also talked about what to look for with regards to odds movement during the Down the Lines segment, with an interesting discussion on why the lines move the way that they do sometimes, especially with buyback in the other direction. The MLB betting market is a living thing for the most part and it shows through the line movement.
This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info… Just the facts… for Monday March 30th, 2020. The President announced that he will extend social distancing guidelines through April 30th, noting that the peak death rate will likely hit in two weeks. There are more than 143,000 cases in the U.S. and over 2500 fatalities. White House Task Force member Dr Fauci, said it is “entirely conceivable” that more than 1 million in the U.S. could be infected, with up to 100,000 deaths. But stated “What we’re trying to do is not let that happen”. The Governor of Illinois said there is not enough capacity in his state for anticipated patient needs. Dallas is setting up a convention center to act as a hospital for coronavirus patients. Seattle is seeing evidence that early containment strategies are working, with the spread of the virus slowing and death rates lower than other states, report The New York Times. The FDA has issued limited emergency use of two drugs, commonly used to treat malaria. They may offer some benefit for COVID-19 patients. The Parliament in Hungary will vote today on whether or not the Prime Minister should be allowed to “rule by decree”, Amnesty International has warned against the move, relays CNN. Spain will move to “hibernation” to slow the virus; Italy extends their national lockdown. Moscow has put a citywide quarantine in place. Zimbabwe has enacted a three-week lockdown. Two stadiums in Brazil are being converted in to field hospitals, according to The Guardian. The first results for multiple coronavirus treatments will be released later this week. The clinical trials of four potential treatments started a week ago with over 3,000 volunteers throughout Europe, reports CNN. British researchers have redesigned a CPAP machine, traditionally used for sleep apnea, to help treat coronavirus patients and ease the need for ventilators. The U.S. Supreme Court building is closed to the public and the March arguments are postponed indefinitely. But, as they say, the show must go on. The court issued four opinions Monday March 23, including a closely watched racial discrimination case that could make it harder to bring such suits. Bloomberg Law's Kimberly Robinson and Jordan Rubin also give an update on the latest coronavirus news out of the high court.
About this episode: We take a look into the current stock market conditions along with how COVID-19 is having an impact on today's economy. When we filmed this episode on Monday March 23rd, 2020, we had no idea that economy would have been impacted so strongly by the coronavirus (COVID-19) the way that it has. No one likely saw this coming. With reports this morning that the amount of people filing for unemployment topping 3.3MM, it's hard to believe that it would have shifted this way.

This is an email we weren’t expecting to send, but sometimes sudden events call for sudden responses. Right now you, and much of the world, are locked down, doing your part to fight the spread of COVID-19. Perhaps you’ve already been trapped inside for weeks. Perhaps you just got back the test results and now you are in complete isolation. Perhaps your job has furloughed you and you’ve got a lot of time on your hands. Things seem serious now, but the truth is, it’s only going to get more serious. All of us are looking at the potential for some serious lost time. Dead time, as Robert Greene calls it. But do we have to be? A Stoic knows that while we don’t control what happens, we do control how we respond. So that’s the real question: How can we use this time to get better? To grow? To be of service and use? To create “alive time” where we’re actively getting better. With that end in mind, we have been scrambling to put together what we’re calling the Daily Stoic Alive Time Challenge: Resilience, Productivity and Service in the Time of Coronavirus. It’s 14 days—the length of the suggested quarantine—of Stoicism-inspired challenges, practices and reading that will help you grow and help you help others. If you’ve done any of our other challenges over the last two years, you know we pack them full of great content, actionable advice, and strategies to make the habits stick. This one will be all that… and incredibly timely. We’re taking our best material and the best insights from the Stoics and organizing it to help you make the most of this time we have. Why shouldn’t you emerge from this process having at least wrested from it some real advantages? Why would you kill time when you could be seizing that time? Why not use it to create better habits and a better perspective?Since there is little time to lose, we are putting the challenge on sale right now and starting it this coming Monday (March 30th). The more of us doing it together, at the same time, the better (people who sign up late can still do it, but they’ll miss some of the fun). We’ll create a Slack channel for sharing and holding each other accountable. And we’ll do a wrap-up call at the end to discuss keeping these good practices going. More important, we’re giving $5 of every sale (20% of all proceeds) to Feeding America. By doing this challenge together we can create what Marcus Aurelius calls a double bonus—doing good for ourselves and the people on the front lines fighting to keep us safe. Sign up today.

Blog Cast: Posts from My Post. Monday March 23rd 2020 By Anthony V. Lipani Physical Education Teacher West Irondequoit CSD, Educational Leader, Dad, Husband, Coach & Heart Attack Survivor. Blog Topic: Now is the time to go on offense and use it to propel us through this most unprecedented moment in public educational history: As a physical educator & administrator for 27 years, heart attack survivor & father for 18 years, these past couple of weeks have been surreal. However, it is time to go on offense. Speaking from a lens of a coach who lead a team to a state championship I want to take a minute to applaud Governor Andrew Cuomo. He has been the calming presence in the face of this adversity. Delivering facts and information with a calming, reassuring, and real voice, No malarkey. A leader who has shown compassion and thoughtfulness with personal real-life examples in this time of uncertainty. That is what we as teachers do every day. We rise and find a way each day to walk onto the practice field…. our own classroom) and be there for their students. No matter how they are feeling or what is going on at home. We rise and walk through the door and lead, teach, encourage, reassure and coach. This is who we are as New York educators. We find a way, every day to get it done.

Pandemic, Private Practice, and You Part 3: We planned this Masterclass series for therapists months ago with NO idea that there would be a pandemic in progress when it come up. We thought long and hard about whether we should cancel or reschedule. Ultimately, we realized that the thousands of therapists who registered needed support, direction, and community now more than ever. We extended Q & A time each week and answered people's questions as the situation changed. We are sharing this here to provide support to our audience. With just responding to people and pivoting to the needs of our community, we apologize that updating our podcast escaped our attention. But, we are proud to say that our blog has been viewed by almost 40,000 therapists in the past week. You can make a difference. People need you!Today we talked about marketing plans during a pandemic with an amazing panel of therapists! We heard from Cyndi Doyle who owns a group counseling practice in Denton, TX and is a law enforcement couples expert. We talked to Joanne Kim an amazing therapist in San Jose, CA who is on Shelter in Place and just started her practice a few years ago. We talked to Shon Howell a therapist in Illinois talking about how to market as an introvert, women of color, and moving to all virtual work. Monday March 23rd is our LIVE launch party where wil be giving away a lifetime enrollment in Business School Bootcamp for Therapists and everyone who attends will get a code for 3 Free CE units that includes NBCC and APA CE Units.
