In this episode, we have Benjamin Behrooz, founder and CEO of Branding Los Angeles, a global creative agency. Benjamin shares his unconventional path to entrepreneurship—initially pursuing pharmacy at UCLA before discovering his passion for marketing through an internship at Sony Music. A pivotal layoff landed him at Truthdig, a politically‑focused site akin to the Huffington Post, where he realized his gift for giving a voice to those who can't speak for themselves. A single political cartoon he helped produce ended up in the hands of Egyptian protestors, cementing his belief in the power of authentic storytelling. The firm's culture revolves around empowering its team to make data‑driven decisions, leveraging constant communication and pushing innovative projects such as the world's first in‑store robot shopkeeper. Benjamin's mantra for growth is to “add three more zeros” to any idea, encouraging bold, expansive thinking. He defines being a CEO as a blend of empathy, vision, and the ability to act as the captain who supports and elevates the crew. In this episode, Michael welcomes acclaimed singer, songwriter, and entertainer, Lira. Her music career—which spans 18 years and includes six studio albums, four live DVDs, an autobiography, a feature film, and numerous accolades including 11 South African Music Awards—has established Lira as the foremost female artist in South Africa and a formidable presence on the global music scene. She is the first South African influencer to formally collaborate with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics in the campaign “Bobbi x LIRA”. In 2019, Mattel launched Africa's first Barbie doll, made in the likeness of Lira, to commemorate the brand's 60th anniversary. In April 2022, while walking back to her hotel in Germany, Lira had a stroke and was diagnosed with aphasia. In 2024, she made her public comeback. Today, Lira shares her remarkable recovery story and spiritual journey of discovering her inner voice and strength. Conversation highlights include: -Lira's journey from leaving her “safe job” as an accountant, cashing in her savings, and enduring a three-year grind until the breakout chart-topping debut album that affirmed her calling -Seeing music as a source of unity and hope while growing up during apartheid, and how conscious soul/R&B music from artists like Stevie Wonder shaped Lira's mission to uplift and inspire -Going from feeling fine to suddenly losing her ability to speak or remember how to find her way back to her hotel, and not being able to ask for help -Being diagnosed stroke-induced aphasia—the temporary loss of speaking, reading, and writing -Lira's ongoing recovery, learning how to talk again, and how her singing voice returned before her speech -Reframing her experience as a “friendly stroke”—the unexpected answer to her desire and need to take a break from the world to rest, allowing her to tune into her body, her Higher Self, and discover her inner voice -Saying “Yes” to life, to creative projects, and a renewed willingness to meet life's invitations, plus Lira's daily rituals for physical fitness, spiritual hygiene, and nervous-system care -Widening her identity beyond career and how being quiet reveals presence, purpose, and real prosperity – and more! Finally, Michael leads a meditation on choosing joy now.

What happens when you see behind the curtain of labor and delivery? In this episode, I speak with Rylee, a young mother who chose to freebirth her first child after working inside the hospital system. From the vantage point of the “business of birth,” Rylee began to question everything she thought she knew about pregnancy. That unraveling brought her face-to-face with the deep dissonance between what she was told was “right” and what her body knew was true.Carrying that knowing into her own pregnancy, she made the radical choice to step away from the system entirely. Rylee shares what it was like to work as a self-described “fearmongering phlebotomist,” to quit, and then to bring her baby earthside in her own power. Her story is one of unlearning, reclaiming, and discovering the strength that emerges when a woman finally trusts herself. What You'll Hear:Why Rylee walked away from working in a hospitalWhat it feels like to stand up to doctors and refuse routine proceduresThe hidden link between hospital “convenience” and high C-section ratesWhy even trusted OBs and familiar clinics can still feel wrongHow she found her rhythm and delivered her baby in a birth pool at homeThe joy of her birth: laughing while pushing, with her mother and husband as witnessesTimestamps:[00:00] Introduction[09:03] Starting to question the hospital method and learning about freebirth[15:45] Climbing out of the system and trusting her instincts[19:57] Defying the doctors and reclaiming her sovereignty[28:15] Realizing that the hospital is a business[36:37] Choosing who she wanted at her freebirth[38:14] The psychedelic moment before labor began[45:40] Moving into the second day of labour, feeling tired, and calling her Mom[48:47] Exhausted, in a trance, and roaring through the portal of labor[51:32] Finding her rhythm and bringing her baby earth side in the pool[58:19] Getting out of the pool, the first cuddles, and delivering the placentaIf you want to connect more with Rylee, follow her on Instagram.Watch Rylee's birth video here.Find more from Emilee on Instagram, YouTube and the Free Birth Society website.Disclaimer: Free Birth Society, LLC of North Carolina shares personal and educational stories and experiences related to freebirth and holistic care. Mensimah's Round Table: Conversations with Women of Power and Grace
Our guiding affirmation for today's episode is this:“I carry the truth within me, and it sets me free.”You are not here to live by someone else's script. Your truth may not make sense to others, and that's okay. It's yours. Let's get honest for a moment. How often do you second-guess your decisions? How often do you ask someone else for advice when, deep down, you already know what you need?
In this episode, I'm sharing what really happens when you dethrone your Inner Critic—when the old identity built on fear, doubt, and constant striving finally loses its grip. For years, I lived with that background static of overthinking and chasing certainty, believing it was just who I was. But when I learned how to step into stillness and neutrality, everything shifted—my nervous system calmed, my peace deepened, and new possibilities began to emerge effortlessly. ✨ If you've ever felt trapped in the noise of your Inner Critic and longed for a quieter, more powerful way to live, this conversation is for you—tune in and hear how you can access the same freedom. Your weekly reflection questions: When my Inner Critic gets loud, what exact thoughts and body sensations show up—and what changes when I simply observe them instead of fixing them? Where in my life am I still chasing certainty or external proof, and what would neutrality and self-trust look like in that same moment? If I stopped feeding the old “noise” for just today, what small action or stillness practice would align me with my Authentic Self?
If your body could hand you a report card right now, what grade would you get?In this solo episode, Janet shines a light on a truth we often push to the bottom of our priority lists: our health. High-achievers may believe their brilliance and productivity keep them in the game, but the reality is that the body—the container carrying it all—is what makes that brilliance possible. With her signature warmth and honesty, Janet shares both personal stories and client experiences to show why delaying attention to health eventually catches up with us, often in crisis form. She invites us to rethink the way we relate to our bodies and to start treating them as the irreplaceable vessels they are.In this episode:✅ Why neglecting your health almost always shows up later as a crisis✅ How high achievers fall into the trap of thinking their minds matter more than their bodies✅ Janet's personal journey with body image, wellness, and health wake-up calls✅ The reality of changing bodies✅ Why health care has to be personal, seasonal, and sustainable✅ How to reframe your body as a partner, not an obstacle✅ Three invitations to start small✅ The importance of shifting from “someday” to “today” in your health prioritiesAbout Janet Ioli:Janet Ioli is a globally recognized executive advisor, coach, and leadership expert with over 25 years of experience developing leaders in Fortune 100 companies and global organizations. She created The Inner Edge—a framework, a movement, and a message that flips leadership from mere success performance to presence; from ego to soul. Today we are going to deal with that voice in all of our heads- the one that judges, doubts, second-guesses, and compares. It tells us we're not doing enough, we're not good enough, or we're not parenting the right way. That voice, often called the inner critic, is oh so relentless. Even casual external criticism, easily fuels this voice that lives in our heads 24/7.

Can you hear your inner voice when it speaks? Do you know what feels like a yes to you, and what feels like a no? In today's episode, Rachel is transitioning into the fall season. She opens up with a discussion on the chickens, her coming plans for her farm and garden, and her family life. This is a time of year where many of us feel the need to get more organized and structured. And to do that - we need to set boundaries. What is your experience with setting boundaries? Are you in a deep, connected relationship with yourself, where you can stand up for what you need? Or do you shy away from confrontation and keep the peace at the expense of your wellbeing? The first step is to learn who you really are. Tune in for an episode that will help you hear your inner voice loud and clear.
