Can you rewire your muscle power and cognitive reaction time in just 72 hours? A brand-new 2026 triple-blind trial says yes—but only if you're using the right form of Vitamin B12.In today's deep-dive, we're breaking down a fascinating randomized crossover trial involving well-trained cyclists. The results were staggering: just 1mg of Methylcobalamin (MeB12) daily led to a 4.1% boost in peak power and a 4.9% improvement in mental reaction speeds. We explore why "Active" B12 (Methylcobalamin) targets the central nervous system and peripheral muscles so rapidly, and why the standard form of B12 might be holding your performance back. What You Will Learn (The MeB12 Sprint Hack):• The "Active" Difference: Why Methylcobalamin (MeB12) works on the nervous system while standard B12 often falls short.• The 72-Hour Window: The exact timeline the researchers used to see a 4.1% increase in absolute peak power.• The Pre-Game Brain Boost: How the cyclists improved their reaction time by 4.9% before the physical test even started.• Fatigue Management: Why MeB12 significantly reduced the "Fatigue Index" during high-intensity interval sprints.• The Practical Protocol: The specific 1mg daily dose used in the study to achieve these results.[Academic Source] Martínez-Noguera FJ, et al. Are your vitamins causing nerve pain? Discover the vitamins that worsen nerve pain and peripheral neuropathy, why certain nerve pain vitamins make matters worse, and what you can do to fix it.0:00 Introduction: Vitamins that worsen nerve pain0:12 Vitamin B6 1:59 Vitamin B12 4:17 Vitamin B1 deficiency and peripheral neuropathy4:35 Nerve pain vitamins 5:39 Alpha-lipoic acid for peripheral neuropathy6:41 Avoiding vitamins that worsen nerve pain Download Dr. Berg's Free Daily Health Routine: https://drbrg.co/45qtO07If it seems that your vitamins are making nerve pain worse, the solution might be simple. Vitamin B6 is vital in neurotransmission, but must be converted to its active form through the liver. Unconverted vitamin B6 can accumulate in the body and affect the nervous system if your liver is sluggish, if you don't have enough bile, or if you're low in glutathione. Inflammation, high blood sugar, and low magnesium can also inhibit your ability to make this conversion. Most vitamin B12 supplements contain cyanocobalamin, which is useless unless converted into the active form, methylcobalamin. Vitamin B1 is vital in supporting the mitochondria and the myelin sheath. Low vitamin B1 is a common cause of peripheral neuropathy. Vitamins B1, B6, and B12 are water-soluble vitamins, so they can't easily penetrate the brain and myelin sheath. Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1 that can penetrate the myelin sheath to help reverse peripheral neuropathy. Alpha-lipoic acid is a powerful antioxidant that can help with peripheral neuropathy, support mitochondrial function, and improve insulin sensitivity. Key takeaways:1. Use the right forms of vitamin B1, vitamin B6, and vitamin B122. Don't go over 50 mg per day3. Ensure you have enough bile4. Consume fermented foods5. Make sure your insulin is balanced6. Do all those supplements claiming to be “natural Adderall” actually do anything, or are they just giving you a much-needed dose of vitamin B? That's the question we're attempting to answer as we continue down the rabbit hole of supplements and ADHD. In an episode sponsored by the concept of multivitamins, Professor Kristin is covering the different types of vitamin B, what's happening at the molecular level, how vitamin B deficiencies impact the brain and body, and ways you can increase your intake without falling for supplement scams. Whether you're a liver and onions type of gal, you like to graze on fistfuls of leafy greens, or you prefer to get your nutrients the old-fashioned way via vitamin gummies, increasing your vitamin B can transform your energy levels for the better, no gimmicks required. What health habits actually protect your brain and long-term health? In this episode, Professor Tim Spector shares the seven health ideas he has changed his mind about after reviewing new research. From oral health and inflammation to vitamin D, sleep, and exercise, Tim explains the daily habits he now prioritises and helps us understand what we should do differently if the science changes. Tim revisits 7 common health beliefs and explains how new evidence has shifted his thinking. He explores the link between oral health, inflammation and brain ageing, and discusses vitamin D, sunlight and omega-3s. The conversation also looks at sleep timing, exercise and how everyday habits interact with our biology.
Dr. Hoffman continues his conversation with Neil Levin, the Senior Nutrition Education Manager and a product formulator for NOW(r) Foods and Protocol for Life Balance.
Nutritional Support for Brain Health: Lifestyle, Curcumin, Magnesium, and Key Nootropics: Nutrition educator/formulator Neil Levin from Protocol for Life Balance details nutritional support for brain health amid skepticism about “brain-boosting” supplements, citing a preprint randomized controlled trial using a multifaceted lifestyle plan (diet, exercise, sleep) plus targeted supplementation that reportedly improved and even reversed symptoms in people with mild cognitive impairment. They contrast lifestyle strategies with costly, side-effect-prone injectable “plaque-buster” Alzheimer's drugs and notes debate about whether amyloid is a root cause or byproduct. The conversation highlights inflammation and oxidation as major aging-related brain threats and reviews supplements including a brain-targeted curcumin (discussing bioavailability, delivery methods, blood–brain barrier crossing, and claims of lowering beta-amyloid protein), magnesium L-threonate for CNS delivery, phosphatidylserine and acetylcholine support (including huperzine), ginkgo and gotu kola, glutamine/GABA pathways, creatine, omega-3s (DHA/EPA and algae sources), B vitamins, acetyl-L-carnitine, alpha-lipoic acid, and cocoa flavanols, plus concerns about supplement industry enforcement.
Hidden Hunger: The Importance of Micronutrients: Nutritionist Leyla Muedin focuses on the critical role of micronutrients—vitamins and minerals—in overall health. Leyla highlights the global issue of 'hidden hunger,' a deficiency in essential micronutrients that silently affects billions worldwide. She explains the impact of this deficit on immune function, growth, energy metabolism, and chronic disease prevention. The discussion includes key micronutrients like vitamins A, C, D, E, B complex, iron, zinc, iodine, and selenium, and their sources. Leyla underscores the need for dietary diversity, fortification, targeted supplementation, and nutritional awareness to combat this pervasive issue. She also advises on recognizing symptoms of deficiencies and the importance of individualized nutrition plans guided by healthcare professionals.

That said, it provides a foundation for the vitamins and minerals that people are the most curious about when going vegan or eating a plant based diet. If you'd like personalized support reviewing your diet or supplement plan, you can book a private nutrition consultation with Shawna. For listeners in Canada, essential supplements like B12 and vegan D3 are also available through her online supplement store. Send us a textAre you familiar with Vitamin B12 Deficiency Symptoms in IBD? Those with Crohn's & Ulcerative colitis are at higher risk of being deficient in Vitamin B12 - especially those with Crohn's that have inflammation in the ileum. If you've got Vitamin B12 deficiency you may feel tired or weak which is a classic feature of type of megaloblastic anemia. On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared is joined by his wife Jen to explore how folic acid, a synthetic B vitamin, is affecting our health - and the role of genetics in it all. What began as a simple dietary change unexpectedly revealed how folic acid in fortified foods, different forms of B vitamins, and individual genetics can significantly influence mood, energy, and mental clarity. Jared and Jen share their personal experience removing folic acid, adjusting B12 forms, and learning why some people thrive on methylated B vitamins while others feel worse. You'll learn the key differences between folic acid and folate, why more supplementation isn't always better, how B12 forms like methylcobalamin, hydroxocobalamin, and adenosylcobalamin behave differently in the body, and why B6, B12, and folate must work together as a team. This episode provides a practical framework for understanding why “doing everything right” doesn't always lead to optimal results—and how thoughtful experimentation, label reading, and food quality make a meaningful difference.B Vitamin Products DiscussedAdditional Information:Episode #601 Blog Post#505: Emotional Vitality: Jen's Story Part 5 - The Impact of Diet on Mental Health and Physical PainCheck out all five“Jen's Story” Episodes!Visit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook. Vitamin B12 is essential for energy production, nervous system function, and overall metabolic health, but not all B12 forms deliver equal bioavailability or stability. In Episode #196 of the PricePlow Podcast, we welcome back HTBA (HealthTech BioActives) for a comprehensive deep dive into the science behind their MecobalActive methylcobalamin ingredient and the groundbreaking clinical study that validates its efficacy in athletes who are not deficient. Joining us are Teresa Pellicer, PhD, Pharmacologist and R&D Manager in Biotechnology at HTBA, and Bernardo Gonzaga, Global Division Manager for Functional Health Solutions. This conversation builds on Episode #188 with Edwin Gonzalez, where we explored practical applications of MecobalActive in functional foods. Today, we go deeper into the molecular mechanisms, clinical evidence, bioavailability data, and manufacturing innovations that make MecobalActive a next-generation B12 solution for supplements, functional foods, and beverages. Teresa’s expertise in pharmacology and molecular biology shines as she explains why methylcobalamin represents the biologically active form your body actually uses, while Bernardo provides industry context on applications, regulatory considerations, and market opportunities. Reforming SNAP. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program—formerly known as food stamps—is designed to address nutritional gaps for economically disadvantaged Americans. But critics argue that SNAP's lack of selectivity when it comes to ultra-processed foods stokes the current epidemic of obesity and metabolic disorders. Nutritionist Carolina Schneider, MS, RD, joins us to discuss an opportunity to reform SNAP. She makes the case for emphasizing fresh, minimally processed food as eligible for purchase under SNAP. Also, she urges inclusion of vitamin D under SNAP benefits because of the pervasiveness of vitamin D deficiency, especially among SNAP recipients.
