Climate action is a broad term that Dr Amanda Thomas defines as “the tools people put together in order to address climate change”. Climate justice, on the other hand, looks at the equitable implications of our climate actions. Climate justice is important in addressing sustainability because climate change is one of the biggest threats to the long-term health and wellbeing of the planet and its inhabitants, and its impacts are often disproportionately felt by marginalised and vulnerable communities. Throughout this episode key considerations related to both climate action and climate justice are discussed, including the role of industry and technology in addressing our climate challenges, as well as implications of climate change on social and gender equity. This episode highlights the need for climate justice to be at the forefront of our actions in contending with our broad sustainability challenges. In this episode our host, Dr Sarah Jane O'Conner, is joined by co-founder and CEO of TasmanIon, Dr Shalini Divya, and feminist political geographer, Dr Amanda Thomas, to discuss climate action from both a technological and a societal perspective.

There is an impulse within us all to create and contribute to our world. In doing so we are at our best, our highest potential because we are living in our most natural state. The way we say YES to this natural impulse is by staying in the right state of mind. Nothing is accomplished when you are living in a limited state of belief about yourself and what you're capable of. Believing in yourself, trusting in yourself, and confidently working with the power that is within you is absolutely vital to offering your highest level of contribution. When we all work together in collaboration, when we're all contributing equally and from our most optimal level, amazing things can be accomplished in our world. Normalizing Non-Monogamy - Interviews in Polyamory and Swinging
Amanda and Thomas are in their very early thirties and have been exploring non-monogamy since the beginning of their relationship over five years ago. They have a fluid approach and keep things independent from one another (except for when the threesomes happen), yet, they don't hide things either. They share with us how they are able to find this balance, keep lines of communication open, and how they have been adjusting to spending a lot more time together since the pandemic showed up. It's a fantastic and lighthearted episode that we know you will enjoy! See photos and more details of all our guests by checking out the Show Notes! She is currently working on feminist horror series, Ratched (Netflix), the film adaptation of Tony Award-winning play, The Boys In The Band (Netflix), and the new season of hit procedural, 9-1-1 (FOX).Amanda is on the Board of Directors for the Guild of Music Supervisors and a proud member of the Television Academy. Luv Aj Designer, Amanda Thomas started her accessories line in 2005 once her after-school obsession parlayed into her own line of accessories. After a chance encounter with a buyer at Fred Segal, they picked up the entire line for their stores and by the age of 16, Luv Aj was officially created. As a graduate from Otis College of Art and Design, Amanda has learned from the best, interning with clothing designer, celebrity fashion stylists and the lovely ladies at the online magazine Who What Wear. These opportunities have inspired Amanda to pursue her love of jewelry and eventually expand Luv Aj to boutiques across the nation, leading to its popularity among starlets and clients such as Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski and Emma Roberts who admire her signature heavy-metal spikes and layered chains. As a recent addition to 2015 Forbe's '30 Under 30' list, designer Amanda Thomas continues to expand Luv Aj and hopes to adorn the whole world in her bling.
There's a lot of folklore about successful creative and business partnerships that form in coworking spaces. But very few people talk about how HARD it can be to succeed as a team in a coworking space. It's not all fairy tale endings...So what exactly changes when two independent people become one company? How does the way they work together change, and how does that affect the way they work in the coworking space?Today's guests are Christine Neuleib and Amanda Thomas, co-founders of Lanternfish Press. Each of them came to coworking for different reasons, neither specifically seeking partnership let alone with the goals of launching a publishing company. But after launching a successful Kickstarter (180% funded) for their first book and since producing several more, these two have a LOT to share about how they keep their working relationships healthy and productive.Tune in as Adam Teterus discovers their origin story rooted in Chinese lunch, and listen carefully for their most counterintuitive (but brilliant!) piece of advice for how to help interns and employees get 1000x more out of a coworking membership just by changing one small thing.
