In this episode I will discuss how we captured our last wedding which was Saturday April 4th, 2020. I want to precede this episode by stating that this wedding happened exactly a month ago and precautions have since changed, mostly the importance of wearing a face mask of some sort. In future weddings we will be also wearing face masks and wanted to advocate that all wedding vendors should start wearing face mask until notified at the state level that it's safe to operate your business without one, which likely won't be anytime soon unfortunately.I hope you enjoy this episode and learn a bit from us how we are handling weddings in the midst of all this and also how we are dealing with date changes, postponements, and cancellations.I'll be releasing another Podcast later this month. The BBC Micro: History Hello, everyone, and welcome to episode 98 of the Floppy Days Podcast for April, 2020! I hope everyone is staying safe in these days of isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic.  One day we’ll look back at this as a strange time in all our lives. Again, for the podcast, we are finishing up the tail-end of the year 1981 in the personal computer timeline and the primary topic of this and the next couple of podcasts will be the BBC Micro.  I talked with Steve Furber, one of the primary developers of the Beeb, in the last episode concerning his part in and thoughts about those heady times.  In this episode I’m going to cover a more general history of the BBC Micro to give everyone a view of why the machine was developed and its huge impact on personal and educational computer history, especially in the UK.  For the UK listeners, you’ll likely be very familiar with the Beeb’s history.  For the  US listeners, and listeners in other parts of the world, you may be less familiar with the story.  I know that until I dove into the research for this episode, I only had a cursory familiarity with this machine and had no inkling of its true place in computer history. For future episodes, software, emulators, books, Web sites, modern upgrades, etc. will be explored. This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Saturday April 25th, 2020. The U.S. has more than 900,000 cases and over 51,000 deaths. Accounting for nearly 1/3 of all cases in the world and more than 25% of all deaths. The FDA is warning doctors not to prescribe hydroxychloroquine, citing serious side effects and even death. Another US Navy ship is fighting COVID-19, the USS Kidd has at least 18 positive cases. The Florida Keys will remain closed to visitors through at least the end of May. Michigan has extended their stay at home order until May 15th, but some businesses and outdoor activities can reopen. On Monday, Tennessee, Minnesota and Colorado will re-open some businesses. The World Health Organization is cautioning governments against “immunity passports” for those who have been infected, noting there is not enough evidence that they will be immune from a second infection, reports The Washington Post. Medical workers continue to put themselves at risk for contracting the virus. In Spain, 18% of cases are healthcare workers, in Italy its 10%. Cases continue to rise on the Italian cruise ship docked in Nagasaki Japan. The current count is 148. There are 623 crew members on board, no passengers. They say people should avoid the area and lock their doors.Supt. Chris Leather later says officers arriving at the scene find “multiple casualties” both inside and outside of the home, but the shooter has vanished.Christine Mills says it was a terrifying night for the small town, which suddenly filled with armed officers patrolling the streets. I guess from Corwin? local association before I We hosted him to come and speak that drew all these people to the area and through my class and I became aware of this movement natural bee keeping that is geared toward local organic farming as opposed to giant mono-cropping and opposed the artificial insemination of honeybees I just graduated in 2014 and I'm in my 6th year so I'm  learned about genetics, I knew it was important but haven't done a  ton of homework still scratching the surface The male honeybee is derived from an unfertilized egg!You can imagine all of those worker bees you see, there are 10s of 1000s of bees in any colony most are female! foraging doing work queen of course laying eggs The males represent a small percentage of the colony derived from unfertilized eggs so they only have mother s DNA! So that puts them back need of diversity! That puts them back exponentially from having strong genes!In nature the queen bee, is mating with 20 drones so she has tons of genetics there whereas now that we have been dependent on these mono crops there became a need for artificially inseminated queens because we go through bees that quickly now! They die at a faster rate for various reasons that we could talk about too!They depend on artificially inseminated queens! They don’t take sperm from 20 drones from nature right?  different drones because it's time efficient from a couple of drones that are invariably related to the queen. So when you buy that package bees that queen from who’s inbred They didn’t teach this in the entry level bee keeping class and I didn't learn this for a couple of years without doing a lot of my own research I really want to bring this aspect to the public! Although there several layers to this not that difficult we cold be teaching this to our kids designing our own curriculum for public so now we’ve got these artificially inbred queens they send these out, we all buy these packages all the big commercial beekeepers, and small beekeepers, there are tons of small beekeepers because they're dying buying from these few different males sperm Support this podcast

This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Saturday April 18th, 2020. The U.S. total has reached more than 700,000, reporting over 30,000 cases yesterday. Mississippi has extended their shelter in place order through the 27th. New York City has cancelled all events for the month of May. A study out of Stanford University, found that the virus could be 50 to 85 times higher than official numbers indicate. Many states are laying out there plans to re-open. Including Texas, Wisconsin, Idaho, Minnesota, Alaska and Vermont. Michigan hopes to loosen regulations on May 1st. In New York State, Governor Cuomo said that hospitalizations due to the virus are undeniably on the decline. Spain’s death toll crossed 20,000. Russia recorded over 4700 new cases in 24 hours, Singapore had 942 new infections reported on Saturday, a new daily high for both countries. In Northeast China, where they share a border with Russia, cases are on the rise. Ventilators are in short supply in Africa, there are 2,000 among 41 countries on the continent. About 2% of South Koreans who had recovered from COVID-19 have retested positive, relays CNN. The Guardian reports around 850 UK citizens will be repatriated from Bangladesh on 4 charter flights. Public health officials across Europe are cautiously optimistic, that the first wave of the virus may be ending, relays The Washington Post. My dad used to say you can climb the highest mountain but if you do it by yourself it doesn't count. That's what I feel like I'm doing right now. Living out a moment in human history that is unprecedented, I am publishing more internet content than ever and I'm working on promoting an EP something, I've never done. All by myself. I see people walking and playing with their dogs, riding bikes and enjoying the weather. It's all good but it just seems strange after being such a social monster that I've always been to be shut in and not doing too much except talking at a microphone that never laughs at my jokes. The term going viral will actually apply to global knowledge rather than the computer term and as we all know, the COVID-19 virus. I’m not someone you would call a brainiac but I think I'm more curious now than ever in my life. Not necessarily intelligent. I am a very good learner, only because I’m curious, that’s all. There are some very exciting advancements going on in healthcare and genetics that call for at least our attention and hopefully optimism that we as humans somehow will rise to the occasion when there's a catastrophe. Historically we have. Sad to say it takes a war or a pandemic but I think it's true.  I love that I'm doing this podcast and I will have these episodes on a listen- on-demand evergreen status forever I hope. I miss talking to people and the thought, at least psychologically, of being shut in and not being able to make physical human contact indefinitely is potentially depressing. So I leave the philosophical and medical stuff up to the folks that got wedgies in junior high and I’ll play some music.  Starting off with a beautiful woman I’m trying to have a guest. This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Saturday April 11th, 2020. There are more than half a million cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. Friday saw the highest death toll to date with 2,074 fatalities. A prominent coronavirus model suggests that New York and New Jersey, have passed their peak of fatalities due to the virus. California is expected to peak on the 15th, Pennsylvania on the 17th, Florida on the 27th and Texas on the 28th. The President is considering lifting social distancing restrictions on May 1st. The Director of The Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation at The University of Washington said “If we were to stop at the national level May 1,” “we’re seeing a return to almost where we are now sometime in July” reports The New York Times. Three crew members on the Navy Hospital Ship Mercy, docked in LA, have tested positive for the virus. Boeing will bring 2500 of their 70,000 Puget Sound, Washington employees back to work Monday, relays CNN. Coronavirus deaths nearly tripled in Brazil this week, as President Bolsonaro continues to reject containment measures. Ecuador reported nearly 2200 new cases in a 24-hour period. India and Japan both reported their largest single day increase in cases. The Philippines have banned healthcare workers from working in other countries. Australian and New Zealand passengers have been evacuated from the Greg Mortimer cruise ship off the coast of Uruguay, where the ship has been anchored since early April.
