Richard Gadson wasted no time making an impact in his first National Hot Rod Association Pro Stock Motorcycle season. He finished third in points in 2024, proving he's a force to be reckoned with. It's been a season to remember for the motorcycle drag racer. Stepping into the NHRA spotlight was a new challenge, but one he was ready for.“I did not win rookie of the year. Tony Stewart won, but it was a really tight race. They said it was the closest race in the history of the awards, so it was a trying year, I learned a lot, and I hadn't been new to anything in a lot of years,” Gadson said.Gadson is no stranger to racing. He's a third-generation racer, from Philadelphia, who has won five national championships in various racing series in his career. When he's not on the race track going 200 mph in 6 seconds, he works at Vance & Hines Motorsports in Brownsburg as a technician. It's the same Vance & Hines RevZilla Suzuki team that sponsors him.During the off-season, Gadson makes sure he stays healthy mentally and physically. His words of advice to aspiring pro motorcycle racers? “You really have to chase your dreams and push until you have to believe they're possible.”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Before heading to his home track this weekend, Coughlin discusses what it's like to indeed be back with Elite Motorsports; getting back up to speed on the racetrack; a driver falling behind when out of the seat for an extended period; the competitiveness of the class; coming back into competition with a team/people he knew; seeing his nephew pilot the famous black and yellow JEGS colors; having a new identity of his own in the SCAG colors; the time being right to come back; the contrast of his retirement year in a pandemic to a thriving sport now; assessing the first part of the season and having two wins; any different feelings with winning now versus before retirement; previewing Norwalk and a potential first win there. Mike, Tom, and Tad in studio. First off, we suck. We should be telling you this all the time. Screw Facebook likes and iTunes reviews. They really don't mean much of anything. If you like the show and want to help us. Share it Share It Share It. That does in fact help. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to be able to speak to the guests we have on the show. These guys are "THE guys" when it comes to what you really need to know. Tonights guest is Ben Strader, founder of EFI University. He has mentored and trained thousands of tuners from all over the world over the last decade and a half. He has spoken at ATEC several times, assisted NHRA Pro Stock and NASCAR teams on their transition to EFI, worked in nearly every venue of motorsports and even authored a book. Now Ben runs a racing engine development program through the school to help bridge the gap between builders and tuners. Ben freely gave out some of the best information about the entire industry you could every possibly get. There is so much in this one, we can't put it all in here. Grab this one and save it. We had a surprise caller at the very end of the show. We almost left him hanging because we had no idea who it was. Turns out it was Doc from Street Outlaws. Ben has been instrumental in getting Doc going with his Haltech ECU. We thank Doc for calling in and giving Ben a celeb endorsement. Doc is welcome to come on at any time. Dave contemplates if an NHRA Pro Stock driver would want to switch lives with him.
Mike, Tom, and Tad in studio. Tom Martino of Martino Racing Engines returns to the show after a long absence. Tom Martino has been around racing his entire life, and he has a perspective that all of us can learn from. It's not very often you can interact with an engine builder who has the level of experience required to field a NHRA Pro Stock team. The guys had a good time asking about some higher level topics. Roller cam roller bearings VS babbitt bearings, rings seal, titanium wrist pins and a few other deeper subjects. Listen in to this one, and get some questions together for the next time Tom comes on, we know he will be back again. Live again next week Monday night at 7:00 PM EST on Mixlr.com. Mike, Tom, and Tad in studio, Crunch could not get in because we had more wonderful snow. Well, the good news is NHRA Pro Stock had a full field, bad news is Tom won the pool with a guess of 209.50 and an event mile per hour record of 210.34. Poor Tad had 210.5, in the words of Maxwell Smart.... Missed it by that much. The NHRA Pro Stock field was, in Mike's eyes, somewhat surprising. In an effort to overturn Tom's victory he looked up altitude corrected MPH to see how fast they would have gone at sea level. The altitude was like 3000FT and that would make a good air pass of 218 ish. That looks as if they do not lose anything at all, and maybe in the end picked up some. There were some interesting notes. 1 pass was "Disallowed" and at the time of the show there was no further information as to what exactly "Disallowed" means. Hogan's Manifolds are the manifolds on all the fast guys so they found something for sure in the R&D side. They are all pretty sure injector placement has something to do with this. Hat's off to Hogan's, they have had some very good stuff over the years and it's nice to see them back on top. With that being said, it seems that a fair amount of stuff is still covered. That would mean to the guys that there is something in that area they felt was worth concealing. Tom said, and we can see from the pictures, the cars look great. It brings back the real look of a car even if somewhat exaggerated in the front end area. In the end, the guys think it overall worked out better than NHRA could have hoped for. Guest next week, and keep your Trans, converter, and harmonic balancer questions handy. Live again next week Monday night at 7:00 PM EST on Mixlr.com. Call in number 908 751 0211.
