THE DEVIL'S PLAN FOR WWIII • The Todd Coconato Show Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give: www.toddcoconato.com/give The Enemy Seeks War  We are in a spiritual battle. The drumbeats of war grow louder, and the enemy of our souls desires nothing more than destruction, bloodshed, and death. But as believers, we must recognize the true battle is not of flesh and blood—it is spiritual.  Satan has always sought to bring death, while God is the author of life and peace. Today, let us look at the contrast between the enemy's agenda of destruction and God's call to peace. 1. The Enemy's Desire for Death Satan's strategy has always been to kill, steal, and destroy. Jesus makes this clear in John 10:10: John 10:10 (NKJV) “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” From the very beginning, Satan has sought to bring death. In the Garden of Eden, he deceived Eve, leading to sin and the entrance of death into the world (Genesis 3). When Cain murdered Abel, it was the enemy stirring up jealousy and rage (Genesis 4). Throughout history, Satan has worked to destroy nations, stir up conflict, and lead people into war and bloodshed. 2. Satan Wanted Mass Death in the Days of Moses and Jesus Satan has targeted entire generations for destruction. When Moses was born, Pharaoh, under satanic influence, ordered the murder of every Hebrew baby boy to prevent deliverance. Exodus 1:22 (NKJV) “So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, ‘Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.'” Similarly, when Jesus was born, Herod, acting as a puppet of the enemy, sought to kill Him by ordering the massacre of innocent children. Matthew 2:16 (NKJV) “Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.” In both instances, Satan tried to destroy deliverers before they could fulfill God's plan. And today, the enemy still stirs nations to war, seeking to destroy millions before they can find salvation. 3. The Enemy Seeks to Stir Up War, But God Calls for Peace As tensions rise in the world, we must recognize the spiritual battle at play. The enemy seeks to manipulate leaders into conflict, pushing nations toward devastation. Yet Jesus calls His followers to a different path: Matthew 5:9 (NKJV) “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” God does not delight in war and destruction. He desires for His people to be agents of peace, speaking truth and interceding for the nations. He warns against unjust violence and reminds us of His power over the plans of the wicked. Psalm 46:9 (NKJV) “He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.” 4. The Ultimate War Is Spiritual While earthly conflicts rage, the real war is spiritual. The Apostle Paul reminds us that our true battle is not against flesh and blood: Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Satan wants us distracted by physical wars so that we do not see the spiritual battle. He wants to fill the earth with death, but God has given us weapons of warfare that are mighty through Him. Our battle is won through prayer, fasting, and standing firm in God's truth. 5. God's Desire for Life and Redemption Despite the enemy's schemes, God is sovereign. His heart is always to save and redeem, not to destroy. 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV) “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” Though war may seem inevitable in the eyes of the world, we as believers must not fall into despair or hatred. Instead, we must pray for leaders to seek wisdom, for people to turn to Jesus, and for God's peace to reign. Stand for Peace, Stand in Prayer ✅ The enemy wants war, but God calls for peace. Satan wants death, but Jesus offers life. The world is being pushed toward destruction, but as believers, we must stand in the gap, intercede, and declare God's will over the nations.  Let us pray and declare God's peace over our world. Amen.

Art, Predestination and Eternal Security Are Not Salvation Issues!

Hi Folks,A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were having dinner with another couple who are strong believers in Jesus Christ.  The subject of election and predestination came up.  This other couple, both husband and wife, were unwilling to accept that God chooses those He will save from before the foundation of the world.  I asked if they believed that their own salvation was certain; put another way, I asked them if it was possible for a Christian to lose his or her salvation.  Their answer:  definitely not. A Christian cannot lose his or her salvation.Yesterday, after church service, I approached a friend who definitely believes that a Christian CAN lose his or her salvation and I asked him if he believes in the doctrine of election and predestination.  He thought for a moment and then replied: “Yes, I do”.So, my question for you today, my friends is this:  Are the doctrine of election and predestination and the doctrine of eternal security (“once saved, always saved”) linked?  If one doctrine is true, must the other be true?  Or, if one doctrine is false, must the other also be false?I hope to show you in this message that these two doctrines are definitely linked and that they are both true.  Moreover, this is good news, and it redounds to the glory of God.  Let's look at a few Bible verses and passages to make the case.  We'll take the case from both sides, the negative and the positive.Romans 8:29 (NKJV) For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Those who do not believe in the doctrine of election and predestination zero in on the word foreknew in this verse.  They take it to mean that in eternity past, God looked down the corridors of time and foresaw in advance who would have faith to choose Him.  Equipped with this knowledge, God chose those who first chose Him.  He then predestined them to be conformed to the image of His Son.Let's consider this point of view.  To do so properly, we need to look at this verse and at the word foreknew in context:Romans 8:28-30 (NKJV) And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. [29] For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. [30] Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. In Romans 8:28 who are the called according to His purpose? They are those who love God.  These are the same people whom God foreknew and predestined in Romans 8:29. Why did God foreknow and predestine these people?  He did it for a reason:  so that they would be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.  And Romans 8:30 says whom He predestined, these He also called.  Whom did God call?  Which individuals would respond with a true quickening of the heart to a gospel invitation?  Which individuals are the ones who would call Jesus Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead (cf. Romans 10:9)?  The ones whom God predestined.Foreknew refers to the people God knew from eternity past.  It does not refer to the choice that people would make about God at some future time.  This is all about God's purpose.  His great and eternal purpose.  A purpose that would glorify God Himself and make those of us who believe God, into new creations: justified, glorified, and fellow-heirs with the Son of God for eternity. Are there other Scripture passages that support the doctrine of election and predestination?  There are.  Here are two:Ephesians 1:3-6 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, [4] just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, [5] having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, [6] to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.Ephesians 1:11 (NKJV) In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,Folks, God chose us in Christ, before the foundation of the world, according to the good pleasure of His will.  God left nothing to chance.  His eternal purpose is too important. Now if the doctrine of election and predestination is true, and it is, then the salvation of the individual believer has to be eternally secure.Having talked about all this, someone raises an objection:  What about free will?  Let's read Romans 9:21-24, which is very helpful to us here and then a comment on it from the Believer's Bible Commentary:Romans 9:21-24 (NKJV) Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? [22] What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, [23] and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, [24] even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? From William MacDonald's comments on this passage from his Believer's Bible Commentary:Romans 9 BBC - 9:21 Then Paul uses the illustration of the potter and the clay to vindicate the sovereignty of God. The potter comes into his shop one day and sees a pile of formless clay on the floor. He picks up a handful of clay, puts it on his wheel, and fashions a beautiful vessel. Does he have a right to do that? The potter, of course, is God. The clay is sinful, lost humanity. If the potter left it alone, it would all be sent to hell. He would be absolutely just and fair if He left it alone. But instead He sovereignly selects a handful of sinners, saves them by His grace, and conforms them to the image of His Son. Does He have the right to do that? Remember, He is not arbitrarily dooming others to hell. They are already doomed by their own willfulness and unbelief.God has the absolute power and authority to make a vessel for honor with some of the clay and another for dishonor with some. In a situation where everyone is unworthy, He can bestow His blessings where He chooses and withhold them whenever He wishes. “Where all are undeserving,” Barnes writes, “the utmost that can be demanded is that He should not treat any with injustice.”9:22 Paul pictures God, the great Potter, as facing a seeming conflict of interests. On the one hand, He wishes to show His wrath and exhibit His power in punishing sin. But on the other hand, He desires to bear patiently with vessels of wrath prepared for destruction. It is the contrast between the righteous severity of God in the first place, and His merciful longsuffering in the second. And the argument is, “If God would be justified in punishing the wicked immediately but, instead of that, shows great patience with them, who can find fault with Him?”Notice carefully the phrase vessels of wrath prepared for destruction. Vessels of wrath are those whose sins make them subject to God's wrath. They are prepared for destruction by their own sin, disobedience, and rebellion, and not by some arbitrary decree of God.9:23 Who can object if God wishes to make known the riches of His glory to people to whom He desires to show mercy-people whom He had selected beforehand for eternal glory? Here C. R. Erdman's comment seems especially helpful:God's sovereignty is never exercised in condemning men who ought to be saved, but rather it has resulted in the salvation of men who ought to be lost.God does not prepare vessels of wrath for destruction, but He does prepare vessels of mercy for glory.Folks, isn't it just wonderful how God works?  It is truly glorious.  It's perfect. Don't pass up the chance to spend eternity with God in heaven.  Take the opportunity now.  Pray with me please:“Lord of all the earth, Yeshua my Messiah, I know that I'm a sinner deserving to spend eternity in hell.  But you paid the price for my sins.  Thank you for doing that.  Thank you so much for doing that.  Please forgive my sins and make me a new creation that I might spend eternity in heaven with you. Thank you, Lord.”Folks, in closing, let me say that what we talked about today may not strictly speaking be a salvation issue.  You don't have to believe in election and predestination, and you don't have to believe in eternal security to be saved.  But God wants you to believe these doctrines because they are from Him.  Doing so will bring you closer to God and will bring God glory.Thank you for listening, Folks.  Until the next time, may the Lord richly bless all of you.Art Wolinsky This is a public episode. Mercy and Grace in the End Times: Our Urgent Call to Reflect Christ • Friday Service   Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give   We are living in extraordinary times, times that many of us believe are the final days before the return of Jesus Christ. The world is in turmoil, and there's an urgency in the Spirit for us as believers to understand our role in this hour. The signs are all around us—wars, earthquakes, lawlessness, and hearts growing cold (Matthew 24:6-12). In such times, it is easy to get caught up in fear, anger, and judgment. Yet, the Lord calls us to something greater. He calls us to mercy and grace. Today, I want to talk about why exercising mercy and grace is not just an option but a necessity, especially in this critical hour. Not only does grace help others, it transforms and blesses us as well. Matthew 24:12-13 (NKJV) "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved." James 2:13 (NKJV) "For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment." Matthew 5:7 (NKJV) "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." Titus 2:11-12 (NKJV) "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age." Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) "And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." 1 Peter 4:7-8 (NKJV) "But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for 'love will cover a multitude of sins.'" Luke 6:36 (NKJV) "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful." As we navigate these perilous times, we must be agents of mercy and grace. The Bible tells us that lawlessness will abound and the love of many will grow cold (Matthew 24:12), but this is not our portion. We are called to love, to show mercy, and to extend grace, not only because it blesses others but because it changes us. Grace empowers us, strengthens us, and keeps us walking in the power of Christ. Now more than ever, we need to reflect the heart of God to a lost and broken world. Mercy triumphs over judgment. Grace gives us the strength to endure. And in the end, it is by His grace that we will stand firm until the very end, hearing the words we long for: "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23).

Finishing Well • Sunday Service Website: www.PastorTodd.org To support this ministry: www.ToddCoconato.com/give Good morning, brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, we gather to explore the profound and vital topic of "Finishing Well." As believers, we are called to run the race set before us with endurance, to fight the good fight of faith, and to remain steadfast until the end. However, the journey is often fraught with disappointments and challenges that can sap our vigor and zeal for God. The enemy is ever at work, seeking to discourage and derail us. But take heart, for God's Word provides us with the strength and encouragement we need to persevere and finish well. 1. Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV) "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." 2. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NKJV) "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." 3. Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." 4. Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV) "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." 5. Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." 6. James 1:12 (NKJV) "Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him." 7. Romans 5:3-5 (NKJV) "And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."   Brothers and sisters, the journey of faith is not without its challenges and disappointments. The enemy will use these to try to discourage us and cause us to lose our zeal for God. But let us remember that we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, we have the example of Jesus, and we are promised a reward for our perseverance. Let us lay aside every weight, keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, and run the race with endurance. May we all finish well, to the glory of God. Amen.

Welcome to Refinery Life Australia. The Inward Attitudes of a True Disciple is our theme for the next few Sunday mornings. This series is based on the Beatitudes, found in the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount. Today we are discussing, Rest Unto Your Souls. As Australians, our heritage has hardly prepared us for this beatitude. Our heritage is one that encourages contempt for what we understand as “the meek” and admiration of the self assertive. One the one hand, we have inherited, through the times, the Roman ideal of greatness in which meekness has no place. On the other hand, we are the heirs of Anglo Saxon self assertiveness and insistence on personal rights and privileges. Under these influences, we have come to admire power, domination, and personal success. Matthew 5:5 NKJV Blessed are the meek,For they shall inherit the earth. On hearing this the average Australian will say, “To tell you the truth, I just don't admire that.  Doesn't that mean a weak and spineless creature, a namely pamby, flabby in character and lacking self respect?” Labouring under this false impression of what meekness is, they ask, “Who wants to be meek? More than that, the statement “They shall inherit the earth” is ridiculous. Maybe some of them will go to heaven someday, but “inherit the earth?” Forget it! I don't believe it!” This beatitude meets with a poor reception by most people. Perhaps none in the list is as unpopular as this. To the popular mind this beatitude is undesirable and unbelievable. But popularity is no reliable test of anything and certainly not of things that pertain to Christ and His kingdom. The popular conception of Christian meekness is both erroneous and inadequate, and these ideas are therefore false. This is not a popular beatitude, because in the world's failure to understand what true meekness is, it neither admires nor desires it. But there are some other more reliable tests to apply to this saying of Jesus. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Jesus was stating a simple fact, and that fact is demonstrated to be true by three important tests. Until next time Stay in the Blessings I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. While we're on this planet, each of us has the opportunity, should I say, the responsibility to impact someone's life for God.I know I say this all the time but it's the reality we need to make our minds up about, Jesus told us. “OCCUPY TILL I RETURN!" So as we look at some of the things God's word shows us concerning the end, it's important that we stay humble, teachable ambassadors for our King.Unfortunately, there's so much speculation, opinion, incorrect interpretation, unbelief, and confusion, so there's no wonder we don't hear much on the subject.Matthew 16:1-3 (NKJV) Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. He answered and said to them, When it is evening you say, It will be fair weather, for the sky is red; and in the morning, It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening. Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the timesSo according to Jesus, if He expected His people to be able to recognize His first coming, He absolutely expects us to be aware and ready for His next one. And make no mistake, the Bible is full of clues, signs, revelations, insight, and even specifics about this day.So if we know that the day is closer than ever before. Then as His body is on the planet, it's our job to have as many as possible ready for that day.In 1 Timothy Paul instructs us to pray for all men, especially those in authority. Then in chapter 2:4, he says, because God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Here's something every disciple has to be aware of, if we're supposed to recognize this day, the enemy absolutely recognizes it and will be as relentless as possible in keeping us distracted about it. And his primary tactics are deception and fear.Hebrews 10:23-25 (NKJV) Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. There is still a hell to avoid!! Let's not forget, we have a very real enemy who has had way too much success deceiving the church into thinking his kingdom is not a reality, and as far as this thing wrapping up, we really don't talk about it. Don't kid yourself, he is the master of distraction. And that's exactly what's happening around the world, as well as in the church.Matthew 24:42-44 (NKJV) Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”We are closer than any generation to the things Jesus told us to watch for concerning His return. So don't think the enemy won't do everything possible to keep people from these truths.2 Peter 3, Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming' He promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 2 Timothy 4:3 (NLT) “For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.”Truth is, evil hasn't really changed its look throughout history and he knows that if he can keep us divided, he can keep us weak. Here's something Jesus said that we have a tendency to overlook, Matthew 16:18, I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.Over the years so many have interpreted this as meaning hell can't come against the church. But gates represent the entrance into a place…Remember, we are no longer of this world. Not only can the gates of hell not stop us, but when the kingdom of darkness tries advancing, we, the church are the restrainer stopping the kingdom of darkness from just having its way.Remember, Jesus told us in Luke, I've given you authority over all the power of the enemy. That being said, we've got to be able to discern our season. Recognize the signs of the times.Something we must remember, He's returning for a glorious church. And as the world around us grows darker, according to Proverbs, The way of the righteous is like the morning sun, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. Here's a reality everyone will have to come to terms with, during Jesus' first coming, there came a point where His disciples had to make some hard decisions concerning their faith, and their lives. So as we peel back a few layers of this revelation, let's remember, God, desires all men to be saved Our mission is people! Yes, we are to watch, be aware of, looking for our Master's return. But not just for us to get out of here, seriously, we do no one any good if that's our only motive. So as we unpack our subject, first and foremost, Paul says, we must rightly divide the word of truth. Jesus, Paul, and Moses said, in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses let every word be established. At the end of the day, the Bible has to agree. When studying God's word, Paul tells us in Corinthians, Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the Church of GodA couple of things we should know about the book of Revelation. The first is that it is singular. It's one continuous uncovering of the return of our King. The title, Revelation simply means uncovering, revealing of truth. It is the omniscient God's record of history in advance. And don't forget, Jesus Himself told us it has been given to us to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven.Revelation 1:3 (NKJV) “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.”Also, Revelation, Matthew 24, and Daniel all go together for a much clearer insight.Matthew 24:3 (NKJV) Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age? When will these things be?What will be the sign of Your coming? What will be the sign of the end of the age?Matthew 24:36 (NKJV) “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”Remember, according to Jesus, only the Father knows when. But he still told us to be watchful and ready.Revelation 1:19 (NKJV)“ Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.”In revelation 4, John says, “after this” after his revelation of the church, John is taken to Heaven, and the church isn't mentioned again in the book. And even though Revelation is filled with typology, it still has to line up with the rest of the book. As we said earlier, the church is the restrainer stopping the kingdom of darkness from just having its way. So he can't just have his way as long as we're still here and operating in our authority.Let me add this while I'm here. The next prophetic event to take place will be the departure of the church. Just like the type of that with John in chapter 4. But there are a number of other examples of being called up. Jesus Himself, the apostle Paul. In the Old Testament, Enoch, and Elijah 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NLT) And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words. We have to get this settled, Jesus' return will be just like His first time here. This event Paul is telling us about is us, the church going to Him.

Measure your life by obedience The ship that will not obey the helm, will have to obey the rocks.   - English proverb By Pastor George Lehman   How many shipwrecked Christians do you know? How do you determine your growth? You measure it by your willingness to obey God. Obedience is not optional.  You either ARE or AREN'T. Obedience has to be the measure we use. When the Holy Spirit is in full control of our lives, He will expect our obedience to the written word of God. But it is part of our human problem that we would like to be full of the Spirit and yet go on and do as we please. – A.W. Tozer The way you're conducting your life right now is a very clear indication of the level of your obedience to God and His commands. All true knowledge of God is born out of obedience. -John Calvin Obedience to God is the most infallible[onfeilbare] evidence[bewys] of sincere[opregte] and supreme[hoogste] love to Him.  -  Emmons   When we study a particular truth in the bible, it helps to examine the place it takes in scripture or the context of the word. I.E: Where it is used, how often and in what connection it is found and its importance. To prepare the study of ‘obedience' in scripture we must go to scripture to find the mind of God. Taking the scripture as a whole we start with paradise which in the beginning was the Garden of Eden. It also refers to where the saints will dwell forever with God in eternity. In: Genesis 2:16 (Amp) – 16And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; Genesis 2:17 (NIV) – 17”But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Notice the consequences of disobedience) And later... Genesis 3:11 (Amp) – And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?  (Read v 24) 24So [God] drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the Garden of Eden the cherubim and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep and guard the way to the tree of life. Please note how obedience is the one virtue* (behaviour showing high moral standards; strength and courage) of paradise. It was the one condition of man's abiding there – the one thing his Creator asks of him. Nothing is said of faith or humility or love – OBEDIENCE covered it all. The one thing that decides man's destiny… “to obey” is the one thing required. We go now from the beginning of the bible to the end.  In the last chapter we read: Revelation 22:14 (NKJV) –  Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. From the beginning to the end, from paradise lost to paradise regained, the law is unchanged. “It is obedience that gives access to the tree of life and the favour of God”. Question:  How was the change affected? Through - The Cross of Christ. From disobedience at the beginning that closed the way to the tree of life, to obedience at the end that gained entrance to it again for all those who are obedient. Romans 5:19 (NIV) – For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by ONE MAN'S obedience many will be made righteous. Hebrews 5:8-9 (NKJV) – though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.  And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, The beauty of His salvation consists of this that He brings us back to the life of obedience. Paradise, Calvary, Heaven ALL proclaim with one voice: “Child of God, the first and last thing your God asks of you is simple, universal, unchanging obedience”. I want you to notice in the Old Testament with any new beginning in the History of God's Kingdom: “Obedience always comes into special importance”. As Noah who became the new father of the human race. We find written in scripture… Genesis 6:22 (NIV) – Noah did everything just as God commanded him. Genesis 7:5 (NIV) – And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him. Church, it is the one who does what God commands to whom God can entrust HIS work. Think of Abraham, the father of the chosen race. Hebrews 11:8 (NIV) – By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. It had to be obedience that kept him for 40 years in the school of faith. It had to be obedience when he bound his son Isaac on an altar. God said: Genesis 22:16-18 (NIV) – and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” Moses at Mount Sinai – God gave him a message for the people. Exodus 19:5 (NIV) – Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, After 40 years wandering in the wilderness, we see the terrible fruit of disobedience. We read about the story of Saul – his disobedience to God. Samuel's response: 1 Samuel 15:22-23 (NIV) –  But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord?  To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.  For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.” Jeremiah 7:22-24 (NIV) – 22For when I brought your forefathers out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices, 23but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you. 24But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward. Looking at the New Testament… If we turn to the teaching of Jesus, we find that it was obedience He lived and the same He required of everyone who would be His disciple. The gateway to finding salvation was obedience. Jesus said: Matthew 7:21 (NIV) –  “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Jesus sharing His farewell words and reveals the spiritual character of true obedience born of love. John 14:15-16 (NIV) – “If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. John 14:21, 23 (NIV) – 21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” 23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. There are many teachings we need for growth - like prayer, faith, study of scripture. But obedience has to be the key. Obedience is the key to pleasing God's heart. Our Christian life is first and foremost ‘Obedience”. 1 Peter 1:2 (Amp) – Who were chosen and foreknown by God the Father and consecrated (sanctified, made holy) by the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ (the Messiah) ... Does obedience take that place in your heart and life? Are you giving obedience the place of authority that God intends it to have in your life? Let us ask God to help us and show us how far we fall short in our Christian life of obedience. May God make obedience, the one sacrifice He asks of us, the sacrifice we freely offer Him. Philemon 1:21 (NIV) – Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask. *****

God wants to accelerate His will for our lives, and we need to expect it and decree it. b. This is not to say that we don't need faith and patience! Without faith it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6); we inherit the promise through faith and patience (Hebrews 6:12). But know this, that while we'll have to use our faith, God is accelerating things! i. Ex.: Churches, Brittany's and my house; ii. Ephesians 1:11 (NKJV) In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, b. Isaiah 44:1-5 The move of the Holy Spirit cannot and will not be stopped! i. Example: Trees (especially in ND) grow mainly by the water. It's easy to tell where a river or a creek is because of the trees that are growing around it! They cannot be stopped, they grow so well and fast Psalms 1:1-3 (NKJV) Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; [2] But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. [3] He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. c. We will see this nation return to the Lord, starting right here in Dickinson, and in ND and MT! We are establishing HIS kingdom on the earth! “Happy (blessed) are the people whose God is the LORD!” - Psalm 144:15 5. In this season of the Open Hand of God, we need to step out in boldness. James 1:22-25,NLT- But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says.Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. This is why Jesus made statements like, The words I speak are spirit and truth. Proverbs tells us His words are life to those who find them. I wanted to start with this passage because God brought a statement I've made several times to my attention. As long as a humanity can live without God, they will. Make no mistake, human nature will do everything within its power to keep us from discovering the realities of God's new world He has for anyone willing to believe. Here's something very important to remember, God didn't give us His word to condemn us. He gave us His word to reveal our true nature. And if you're like me, you're pretty good a listening to His word, it's the whole doing that gets us. You see, the thing about Christianity, living this new life, actually being doers like James instructs us, we've got to come to terms with the reality that statements like that are only available to the born again. I think sometimes, for many of us we get comfortable in our Christianity and just maybe, not as aware of our new nature as we are our human nature. And that's the driving thought behind our new talk “Two Worlds.” This is Paul's point in Corinthians when he tells us that when we accept Jesus, we become new people. We have a new life. Ephesians 1:11,MSG- It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. And with the reality that we are born into a completely new world, which is 100% spiritual, we belong to two worlds. Natural and Spiritual. As a matter of fact the book of Hebrews make it very clear that only God's word can reveal the difference between the natural and spiritual. Something else Corinthians reveals to us is that God's word is designed to be discerned spiritually. And even though confined to this natural, according to Jesus, we're no longer of it. Paul actually takes things a step further in Philippians, informing us that we are now citizens of a heaven. And I know we've discussed this topic many times but God continues bringing me back to this subject. I can't help but wonder if we simply need clarity, further revelation into the realities of our new world. Our new identity. Remember, He didn't give us His word to condemn us, but to reveal our true nature. So when I ask this question, let it challenge you not condemn you.According to the apostle James, how's your doer awareness? Seriously, how often would you say you're applying basic spiritual principles in your daily lives? Can we be real? Most of us, most of the time are more committed to this natural world than our new world because its just easier, it's more real to us. It's what we're use to. That being said, the bulk of our talk will be centered around the one book in the NT that I believe gives absolute clarity on this subject, the apostle Paul's letter the the Ephesians. At its core, it reveals the mystery of God's church in the earth. Just a little history, after spending over two years there, starting a successful fellowship, Paul continues his missionary journey. Some five years later, from prison in Rome Paul writes one of his encyclical letters. Counting on his anointed leaders to circulate them. The ultimate revelation in Ephesians is the church as His body, us in Him, Him in us, expressing the fullness of His reality. Ultimately, it's the Lord's appeal for all of us to participate in Jesus' commission in 5:27 of building a glorious church without spot or blemish. Ephesians 1:3-6,NKJV- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who HAS BLESSED us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,Spiritual blessing, divine privileges and resources available to those in Christ in this natural world.CEV, For the spiritual blessings Christ has brought us from heaven. As we unpack this, here's the reality we've got to keep out in front of us, we belong to two worlds. Natural and spiritual. 4, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,5, having predestined (guaranteed destiny) us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,6, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. One of the dominant, recurring themes throughout Ephesians is the reality of who we are in Christ. Maybe our first question should be, can we bring the realities of His world into this natural world? And if so, then how? The very first thing we have to acknowledge and accept is that according to Paul, according to Jesus is that these realities are only available to those who believe. This might help, just like with salvation, Jesus went to the cross for everyone. Atonement is a finished work that is waiting for the individual to exercise their faith and reach into that world and receive His finished work. God had already made the provision. Remember, Jesus is the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world. This is why back in v.6, He made us the accepted in the beloved. And since we've been accepted in the beloved, this revelation Paul gives us from the Holy Spirit is probably the key component in this letter. Ephesians 1:15-19,NKJV- Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,16, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:17, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,18, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,19, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. You gotta get this, Paul isn't praying for God to do a something new, he's praying the we can see what God has already done. 18, “That the eyes (spiritual) of your understanding be enlightened” Think about this, according to God's word, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We are new creations in Christ. We have been transferred into His Kingdom. This is why Paul prayed, may the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; That we know what is the hope of His calling,That we know what the riches of the glory of His inheritance is.And that we know what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe. It's as we begin seeing spiritually, comprehending the realities of our new world that we can put into practice what the apostle James is telling us, don't  just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Which word do we do?Seriously, just take one statement from Jesus in John 14, ‘The things I do, you can do also” Lets not kid ourselves, the only word of God we become doers of is the word we can accept by faith. What we need is a NT, “such as I have” perspective. Or according to Paul's prayer, we need revelation of who we already are in Christ. Seriously, according to 1 John our born again nature in this world is just like Christ. Made in His image and likeness. 1 Thessalonians 5:23,NKJV- Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.SPIRITSOULBODY And here's the deal, when a soul is renewed with God's word, we believe Him. At that point our soul and spirit are in agreement, causing the body to come in line. Or in the words of James, we become doers of the word. But when our soul stays in agreement with our body, our human nature, human nature rules resulting in unbelief. And we find ourselves saying things like, if the power of God was working in my life, I'd see it, feel it, experience it, etc… And I realize this concept contradicts popular religious traditions, and this is why Jesus told us, “truth will make you free.” I made this statement Wednesday night and it really stuck with me.Truth is the highest realm of reality. Once we abandon truth, we're left with facts. Example: “There's giants in the land” fact. God said, I have given you the land, truth. Hosea 4:6,NKJV- My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God. This is why Jesus made statements like, The words I speak are spirit and truth. Proverbs tells us His words are life to those who find them. I'll leave you with Paul's revelation to us, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who HAS BLESSED us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Galatians 6:7-9,NKJV-  Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for WHATEVER a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in DUE SEASON we shall reap if we do not lose heart. We can't forget that everything pertaining to God's Kingdom operates under this principle of seed time and harvest. Something every Christian has to evaluate is just how consistent we are at sowing into our God given vision? At the end of the day it's our responsibility to make room for Kingdom of Heaven realities, allowing them to be the primary influence in our thinking. How much Kingdom exposure do you get? Matthew 13, Jesus tells us thekingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, a man took and sowed in his field… Matthew 17:20,NKJV- So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” God's not finished with you. He's eternal! You know the old saying, “Those who can't do, teach?” As we get older we may not be able to do all the things we used to do, but never forget that as we mature in the Lord, we become these living dispensers of revelation for the next generation. Or in the words of Jesus, “Out of your spirit will flow rivers of living water.” (Good in, good out!) Luke 6:45,NKJV-  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. The challenge most of us face today is that we get so busy, so occupied with the cares of this world, circumstances, life and it clouds what God is wanting to show us. (Parable of sower) Here's a reality Christians have to come to terms with, God actually expects us to live beyond our humanity, to be one of His faithful. Being faithful with our faith, demands transformation. This is why Jesus made statements like, “If you can believe, all things are possible for you.” Remember, Jesus told us, from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Everything about God and His world was spoken into existence. God's original plan for words wasn't just communication, it was creation. Here's a thought, what if we stopped using our word to describe our situation, and start using them to change our situation?  Seriously, if we're going to be the faithful of the Lord, it starts with the little things. (Mustard seed) small adjustments, small decisions, small steps of faith.  A big one is our tongue, after all James tells us it's the rudder of our life. Our words are the fruit of the seed that's in us. So starting now, on purpose set the course of your life, line your words up with your vision. I think we all need training and discipline in the language of faith. Job 22 says, You will decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And the light of God's favor will shine on your ways. Time for a little vision prophesying. Seriously, why do you think James tells us, cursing and blessing should not be coming out of the same mouth. The Psalmist teaches us, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so” “Let the weak say, I am strong.” Roman's 4 reminds us that God is the God who calls things that be not as though they are. Ephesians tells us to imitate God like little children. Maybe this talk is a simple reminder for all of us to take a fresh look at the importance of out words. Remember, from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Here's the deal, every believer has to start somewhere, and usually it's with one small decision, the another… (Mustard Seed) Luke 16:10,NLT- “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities.” Luke 19:17,NLT-“Well done! the king exclaimed. You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward. He went on to teach us that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, nothing would be impossible for us. Stop thinking you've got to have this great faith. Real faith, as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. This is why God told us not to despise the day of small beginnings. Just like a seed. Remember, the kingdom of heaven is like a seed. At some point we've got to acknowledge this reality, God told us His ways are different. All His promises, His covenant comes from a world we can't see in the natural. And it's only through faith that we bring them into this world. God rarely asks us to take giant leaps of faith, usually He's simply encouraging us to take small, everyday steps discovering our life Jesus. What we have to understand is, not only is God a faith God, Corinthians tells us He is the faithful God. Bottom line, there's absolutely no other way to experience a life in Him outside of faith. Hebrews 4:2,NKJV- Indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith... What we have to understand is that our born again nature is built to live according to what He says, not according to our intelligence. Jesus' mother summed it up perfectly when she told the workers, “Whatever He says to you, do it!” His Word is truth, it's eternal, spiritual, the written image of Himself. Jesus not only instructs and encourages us in how we are to live an anointed life, He demonstrates it. This is why He tells us, the righteous are to live by faith. Romans 3:3-4,NKJV- What if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar... On the other side of us saying yes to God, there will be uncertainty, opinions, challenges, fears, obstacles we have to overcome. Maybe the question each of us has to answer is, which part of His word do we actually believe? Like He said, it all starts out like a seed, then grows to greatness. Proverbs 4:18,NLT- “The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.” Psalm 68:19,NKJV- “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits” If we honestly believe God daily loads us with benefits, we should get up every morning actually counting on them? It's those little steps, little adjustments that keep us moving closer to our purpose. Every Christian's gotta get this, our new lives can only be found in Him, willfully giving our lives to Him is the key to our success. What parts of your life are you still holding on too? Unwilling to trust Him with it? Remember, God rarely asks us to take giant leaps of faith, usually He's simply encouraging us to take small, everyday steps discovering the life Jesus died that we could have. He daily loads us with blessings. But until we come to the place where we honestly acknowledge and accept the Bible as Jesus actually talking to us right now, the things Jesus tells us will stay some mysterious impossibility. This is why James reminds us that we have to be doers, not just hearers, deceiving ourselves. His Word is eternal, spiritual, the written image of Himself. This is why He tells us in Numbers, I am not human, I cannot lie. At the end of the day, it simply comes down to this, exactly what do you believe. Because the same way we receive Christ is how we live in Him. This is why we have to understand, it's our responsibility to make room for Kingdom of Heaven realities, allowing them to be the primary influence in our thinking.  Can you honestly say you're there? At some point, Christians have to come to terms with the fact that God actually expects us to live beyond our humanity, to be one of His faithful. Being faithful with our faith, demands transformation. This is why Jesus made statements like, “If you can believe, all things are possible for you.” Let's get this settled. After all, we are new creations in Christ. Designed to live out of a different world right in the middle of this one. Philemon 1, The sharing of our faith becomes effective when we acknowledge every good thing that Christ has put in us.

Righteousness is both judicial (Declaring of righteousness) and gracious (Gifting of righteousness). God has declared and imparted to believers righteous and has acquitted them of their sins through the finished work of His son. “The Devil” is not the enemy’s name; it is his title and the description of who he is and what he does.  Devil = Means to slander, accuse falsely, oppose the cause of God with words, to author evil, to persecute good men, astringing mankind from God and enticing them to sin.  Slander = The action and the crime of making a false spoken statement damaging a person’s reputation. 2. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. If you will spend quality time with the Lord; meditate on His word YOU will make YOUR way prosperous and you will have good success. When you pray don't beg God. Speak His word. Remind Him of His promises. As you begin to meditate on His word just believe them you will receive the goodness of God.Psalms 119:97 NKJVOh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.Psalms 49:3 NKJVMy mouth shall speak wisdom, And the meditation of my heart shall  give understanding.Psalms 63:6 NKJVWhen I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.Mediate on God's word. It will transform your life. This is the Beauty of Grace.Support the show (http://www.harvestfellowshipchurch.net)

James 1:12-15 (NKJV) Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. In verse 14, the term "drawn away" implies that people can be in one place, and now they find themselves in another. It can be spiritual, emotional, or financially speaking. Distraction leads to deception; deception leads to dislocation; dislocation leads to destruction…. So the challenge is to be ruthless with distraction. It is critical that we learn to eliminate these distractions because James makes it clear that satan’s ultimate agenda is to use distraction to kill us. In this verse, death does not necessarily mean cessation of life. It refers to separation. The enemy wants to separate you from your assignment, your goals, your dreams but most importantly your Heavenly Father.
