For a moment in time, it seemed as if we were getting COVID-19 under control. But then the delta variant moved in with a swiftness, and now many of us have more questions than reliable answers. On this week's “In Conversation,” host Rick Howlett talked with Dr. Jon Klein from UofL's School of Medicine about what Louisville and the Ohio Valley Region need to know about the delta variant. How does a variant even compare to the original? Where and when to mask? What's a breakthrough case? How are those vaccinated against the coronavirus protected or left unprotected? What are the concerns of the unvaccinated? How is testing going? Right now the state of Kentucky is experiencing the highest number of new cases and highest positivity rate since February. Dr. Klein discussed what that means. And on a lighter note, we talked about the return of the Kentucky State Fair. Where else can you go to see goats and other animals, peruse award-winning eggs and pies, see goats, ride a carousel, and did I mention goats? This year's fair will feature a photo exhibit called “The Ripple Effects: Exploring Water in Louisville.” We'll meet the exhibit's organizer and learn more. The Kentucky State Fair runs from August 19 to Aug. 29, 2021.

Eric used to be a full-time paint salesman where he also created customized paint colors for homes. This inspired him to venture into selling homes until he decided to upgrade his career into real estate in 2015. A year later, he was named as the #1 Selling Agent in the Ohio Valley Region. His team was also recognized as the #1 Selling KW Team in Indiana from 2017 to 2020. Since his career trajectory was pretty fast as an individual and as a team, Eric saw the need for an efficient program to train new agents to backfill his business. One of the things he found most success in was taking in new agents without experience and teaching them how to be successful in real estate and to be effective in the first 12 months. In this episode, we talked about: (02:56) Why there is a need to train agents to become leaders (05:04) How does the FIRE immersion program work (05:20) The value of providing your agents a clear blueprint for success (08:31) How to keep your agents motivated (11:06) Why Eric prefers to train agents through problem solving activities (13:32) How SISU helped make meetings more meaningful and productive (15:32) Why you need to be clear on who you want to be in business with (16:52) The difference between value and price (17:23) The type of agent who are best suited for the immersion program (20:05) How third party recruiting companies work in the real estate industry (22:56) Best source of recruiting leads (24:57) How SISU helps simplify the real estate business
On this episode, Dana talks to Ben Kinney in a live event he did for the Ohio Valley Region. Ben is consistently one of the top 5 agents at KW and has been coached by Gary Keller for years. He got into real estate after a Keller Williams agent gave him the Millionaire Real Estate Agent book as a closing gift when he bought his first duplex. After growing up without a lot of money, he was drawn to the idea of being able to grow wealth through real estate, especially since he kept getting fired in corporate America. He started in as a realtor and realized his definition of wealth was the ability to do what he wanted, when he wanted, with who he wanted. He shares so many great bits of knowledge, from how he approaches winning in a recession, how to find and hire the perfect assistant, how to have people on your team who want to stay on your team, how to build a relationship with the people you are partnering with, and so much more.
On this episode, Dean and Chad talk about the new Ohio Valley Region in SEND Network. Dean is the new Regional Director, Chad is the new Send City Missionary, and Jason Phillips is the new Church Planting Catalyst. They talk about the mission of SEND Network to plant churches everywhere for everyone and what excites them about their new roles.

Indigenous Perspectives on Native Americans and Local History David Holoweiko | Mark Grago | Michael Kishbucher | Tony Lavorgne On episode 18 of the Beaver County History Podcast, we talk with public historians David Holoweiko, Mark Grago, Michael Kishbucher, and Tony Lavorgne about the complicated cultures and histories of Native Americans in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. According to the latest census data, .2% of Beaver Countians self identify as "American Indian" -- a governmental label defined as persons having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America). Prior to the arrival of Europeans in the 17th century--and dating back to at least 10,000 years ago according to archeologists, the population of the region was 100% indigenous. How did we get from there to here, then and now? These four local public historians share their perspectives on the social, political, and economic histories of the rich and varied cultures of indigenous peoples of the region, which includes the Ohio River Valley, Western Pennsylvania, and what was once known as the Northwest Territories. Guests David Holoweik Dave is a long-time local historian, performing artist, and producer with The Social Voice Project. He sits on the board of directors of the Little Beaver Historical Society, located in Darlington, Beaver County. Dave is also the host of the Little Beaver Historical Society Podcast. Mark Grago Mark is from Aliquippa. He’s an author, poet, video blogger, and the creator of Beaver County Indians--a website dedicated to indigenous peoples of Beaver County and the Ohio Valley Region. Michael Kishbucher Mike is a Darlington native. His latest book, Legends & Lore of Little Beaver Creek, is an entertaining but factual investigation into the origins and history of a variety of local tales including the legends of Esther Hale, White Lady of Sprucevale, Gretchen's Lock, The Pig Lady of Cannelton, and Indian Rock. Tony Lavorgne Tony specializes in obscure paranormal and anthropological topics. He is an accomplished researcher, author, and public speaker on the subject of local legends and lore throughout Western Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia, and Eastern Ohio. His latest book is Eastern Woodland Indians: Lives Legends and Lore. Tony is also the host of Tony Lavorgne's Legends & Lore Podcast.
