Two days of markets in one shot. This Friggin' Farm & Ranch Report folds Tuesday's May WASDE fireworks into Wednesday's cattle tape and policy mess. We start with WASDE-671: U.S. wheat chopped to 1.561 billion bushels, 424 million under last year and below the low end of the trade range. KE wheat runs 50 cents, corn and beans climb, and USDA quietly confirms the drought story we've been preaching for weeks. We spell out what that does to your wheat, hay, and feed costs headed into summer. Cattle side, USDA cuts 2026 beef production 243 million pounds and raises steer prices, but the board shrugs. Cash bids hit $260 live in the South while Live Cattle futures close $1.70 to $2.80 lower and Feeders $2.50 to $7.30 lower. The longs are walking, and we break down what the Wednesday Fed Cattle Exchange needs to do before you pull the trigger on fats. We hit the DOJ's criminal antitrust probe into the Big 4 packers, walk through the sale barn pulse from OKC West, Dodge City, Beaver County, and Lone Star Stockyards, then talk diesel at $5.64, fertilizer that 70% of farmers say they can't afford, the Farm Bill in Senate limbo, Trump–Xi in Beijing, Colorado's wolf budget blowout, and the Hormuz tanker war keeping a premium in your fuel bill. Straight talk, no hedge-fund voice. Markets, policy, war — all tied back to your fuel bill, feed bill, and cattle check. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Howdy, daylight burners. Friday weekly wrap of the Friggin' Farm & Ranch Report. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins bailed on her Douglas, Arizona screwworm facility ribbon-cutting with no reschedule while the parasite sits about 80 miles off the Texas border. Cattle finally look like they're building a floor, crude stayed hot even with a little profit-taking, and the Farm Bill picked up a stack of amendments headed into a floor vote next week. We run the full board: Markets (live cattle, feeders, hogs, corn, beans, wheat, diesel, crude); Cattle/Beef (herd at multi-decade lows, Cargill Milwaukee closure, boxed beef inversion 3rd week in a row); Sale Barn Pulse (Joplin's monster run, light receipts at OKC West, Beaver County replacements screaming tight supply into 2027); Inputs/Energy (diesel still a punishing line item, fertilizer ugly with urea feeling the Hormuz war-risk premium); War Reel (tanker seizures, insurance math, and what it does to your fuel bill and freight); Rural Americana (one rural hospital win, one gut-punch closure, plus a broadband bright spot); Policy/Macro (Farm Bill H.R. 7567 amendments, DOJ packer probe, and Rollins' canceled border trip). Lone Star Stockyards – Wildorado, Texas. Straight talk, fair shake, cattle sold right. Sale every Tuesday at 11 AM Central. Spring catalog open through May 30 at lonestarstockyards.com. Disclaimer: Markets move. Numbers quoted are settlement closes for Friday, April 24, 2026. This show is for information and a little entertainment, not investment advice. Cattle futures are bleeding red, but the country trade is still hot as a branding iron. On today's Friggin' Farm & Ranch Report for Tuesday, April 21, 2026, we walk through the seventh straight down day in live cattle while OKC National, Joplin, Salina, Beaver County, and Lone Star are still moving big runs at stout money. June fats closed 243.50, down 8.50 off last week's record, but 500-pound heifers are bringing 503 and running-age pairs are tagging 4,700 a head in the country – the kind of dissonance a spreadsheet doesn't explain. We pick up Day Two of the DOJ's criminal antitrust probe into Tyson, Cargill, JBS, and National Beef and talk through how that headline is weighing on the board even with cattle on feed, placements, and slaughter all saying "tight." Boxed beef is still inverted with Select trading over Choice, and we break down what that weird twist means for packer margins and rancher leverage. New editorial direction kicks in this episode: less war, more dirt road – more sale barn, more horse market, more rural Americana. Inside this show: • Markets Flash – live cattle, feeder cattle, lean hogs, corn, beans, wheat, crude, diesel, fertilizer, Fed funds, prime, gold, and silver, all run quick and dirty. • Cattle & Beef Deep Dive – futures correction, DOJ headline risk, consumer pushback on 9-dollar burger and 22-dollar ribeyes, boxed beef inversion Day 2, cattle on feed, slaughter pace, and a 73-year-low herd with a Mexican feeder import ban still in place. • Sale Barn Pulse – receipts and price tone from Lone Star Wildorado, Oklahoma National, OKC West, Joplin Regional, Salina Livestock, and Beaver County Stockyards, including 533-pound heifers at 503 and running-age pairs up to 4,700. • Horse Market – NCHA Super Stakes winners in Fort Worth, Lone Star Spring Catalog sale prices, Heritage Place Winter Mixed averages, and what they say about ranch geldings and performance-horse demand. On the input side, we look at WTI holding 90.88 after the Iran spike, diesel still north of 5.40, and why that 847-dollar urea number may be the floor through summer if Persian Gulf ammonia and urea shipments get hung up. We hit Fed funds, prime, and why Powell is likely to sit on his hands while your operating note stays north of 7.75 percent. War Reel is trimmed to three minutes: Iran ceasefire clock, tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz way below normal, ship insurance jumping, and what that means for your fuel bill and fertilizer ticket – not another drone-footage highlight reel. Rural Americana closes it out with six stories you won't see at the top of the hour: Montana and North Dakota FFA kids stepping up, a Wisconsin farmer co-op landing a USDA grant, USDA killing 49 of 50 ILCMA land-access projects, a rural ER closure in Jacksonville, Arkansas, the Nebraska Rural Response Hotline lighting up again, and a 150-year-old Kansas newspaper that refuses to die. Policy and macro on the back end: Farm Bill amendment deadline, CCC borrowing authority, tariffs baked into your iron, land getting financialized out from under young producers, plus "On This Day," NBA playoffs, MLB, and Better Barrel Races in Oklahoma City. If you or somebody you know is in a bind, write this down and pass it on: Nebraska Rural Response Hotline – 1-800-464-0258. Free, confidential, since 1984. Move your ass — we're burnin' daylight. In Western Pennsylvania, the Allegheny County board of health is looking at how it can reduce the impacts of fracking. It formed a subcommittee on fracking last year, and the committee presented their plans to the full board of health earlier this month. State environmental regulators recently held a hearing for an air permit for Shell’s plant in Beaver County. The State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has announced they'll cover the costs for Pennsylvanians to remove invasive trees and shrubs and replace them with native species for the second year in a row. And a deep dive: A silent fly arrived on our shores about 250 years ago, around the same time Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia. How one of the country’s first invasive species spurred suspicions of biological warfare, threatened the new nation’s economy, and inspired citizen science. In the early morning hours of April 17, 1966, five law enforcement officers from four different agencies watched in disbelief as a massive, glowing, football-shaped craft silently hovered over a Pennsylvania shopping center parking lot — the same object two Ohio sheriff's deputies had just chased at speeds exceeding 100 mph across 86 miles of highway. When the Air Force investigated, they had a simple explanation: the officers had been chasing the planet Venus.*No AI Voices Are Used In The Narration Of This Podcast*IN THIS EPISODE: Some believe them to be ghosts, others feel they are creatures or even humans from a different dimension. Still others believe they are demonic entities. Whatever the truth about what they are, the one thing everyone agrees about is that an encounter with a shadow person is undeniably terrifying. (Terrifying True Stories Of Shadow People) *** The townsfolk of Beaver County, Pennsylvania saw something very strange in 1966 – and now, so many decades later, it's just as much of a mystery as it was the day the encounter occurred. Some are dark in tone like “Poltergeist”, or heroic like the first Superman movie starring Christopher Reeve. Today on Scrolling 2 Death, Nicki sits down with Congressman Chris Deluzio—a dad of four and a fierce advocate for safer, healthier schools—to unpack one of the most urgent issues facing American families: screens in the classroom.Rep. Deluzio recently released a major report on smartphone use in schools after months of research and conversations with teachers, administrators, and parents across Western Pennsylvania. He breaks down what he found, why phone-free schools are gaining bipartisan momentum nationwide, and why Pennsylvania has struggled to pass similar legislation.Nicki and the Congressman go deeper, expanding the conversation beyond smartphones to the overlooked risks of school-issued devices, lack of oversight, and the growing push to introduce AI chatbots into middle-school classrooms. From data privacy to compulsive design to tech companies lobbying to stop states from regulating AI, this episode exposes the full ecosystem of digital harm entering our children's schools—often without parents' knowledge. The conversation ends with a call for bipartisan cooperation and real accountability: parents, educators, and lawmakers working together to ensure that technology in schools actually supports learning instead of undermining it.If you care about what your kids are exposed to at school, this is an episode you can't miss.Elected in 2022 and re-elected in 2024, Congressman Chris Deluzio is serving his second term in Congress representing the people of Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District—where he serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Pennsylvania's 17th district includes all of Beaver County and parts of Allegheny County. Congressman Deluzio is a native of Thornburg and lives with his family in Allegheny County.Congressman Deluzio is an Iraq War veteran, voting rights attorney, and union organizer. He graduated from Bishop Canevin High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree with merit from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.
The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Cody McDevitt. A White Man and award winning journalist, McDevitt is a Pennsylvania resident and the founder of the Rosedale Oral History Project. Last week, Gus T. spoke with Dr. Emily Leib last week, and she told us that her White grandparents are Beaver County residents. Gus checked immediately, and, of course, Beaver County is a Racially Restricted Region of western Pennsylvania - which Dr. Leib seemed to already know. Upon further investigation, Gus found out that Racists purged a group of black people from this region in 1933. A tad south, Racists in Johnstown also kicked out their population of dark people a decade earlier. McDevitt penned Banished from Johnstown: Racist Backlash in Pennsylvania. This book reveals much about the System of White Supremacy and what it means to be classified as White. Interestingly, so called Mexicans were also told to “beat it” along with the niggras. However, there was intervention on their behalf that was not extended to black people. Pay particular attention to Mr. McDevitt's response to Gus's definition of Racism and his constant references to other non-white people's books and views on Racism. This includes Isabel Wilkerson's abomination Caste (#2ndWorstBookEver). #BlackGetBack #RaciallyRestrictedRegions INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#
I caught up with a good chunk of The Allegheny High boys in central Oregon while they were out doing what they do best: making Charles Wesley Godwin sound like a freight train and giving folks goosebumps. We posted up near Bend for a hang that starts off with “are we about to get murdered?” energy… and quickly turns into a full-on origin story: the Beaver County scene that shaped them, jam nights that built their chops, and the larger-than-life local legends who taught them the most important rule of all: never take a gig off, even if a guitar ends up in a popcorn machine. From there, we get nerdy in the best way: production philosophy (and why recording is basically 95% failure and 5% magic), the real behind-the-scenes of tracking big guitars, and that moment when a song hits so hard you have to sit in the dark and just… listen. Also: stoner-rock riffs hiding inside “country,” touring gear that makes your heart do the pitter-patter thing, Boss pedal picks, and a Pittsburgh-area pizza style that sounds fake until you try it. This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Utah has one of the strongest, most diverse economies in the nation, and that didn't happen by accident. Ryan Starks, Executive Director of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah, or EDCUtah, is here to talk about their role in supporting Utah's economic success. Ryan Starks: EDCUtah is a statewide non-profit organization that catalyzes capital investment and strategic economic opportunities to create quality jobs in Utah. We work with the State of Utah, cities, counties, and Utah businesses to provide growing companies with the resources they need to relocate or expand in Utah. When we were founded nearly 40 years ago, Utah was suffering from brain drain, and EDCUtah was charged with recruiting new companies to diversify Utah's economy and job opportunities. Each year, our business development team works with just over 100 active corporate expansion projects. This past year, 20 companies decided to expand in or relocate to Utah – with plans to add 3-thousand new jobs and 1.3-billion dollars in capital investment. Notable project wins include AeroVironment in Salt Lake City, Edwards Lifesciences in Draper City, Fervo Energy in Beaver County, and Nucor in Brigham City. Connect with us on LinkedIn or online at EDCUtah.org. Derek Miller: EDCUtah is helping Utah thrive, bringing new jobs, attracting investment, and supporting growing industries. Their work is creating stronger communities, more opportunities, and a brighter future for Utahns across the state. I'm Derek Miller, with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business. Halloween's a time for spooky stories and urban legends. Here in Western Pennsylvania, there's a story about a man — a spectre with a glowing green face — who you might see roaming around the side of the road late at night. He may have been burned by acid or fire, or maybe got struck by lightning. While those details are squishy, the real story behind "The Monster of Beaver County" is a tragic one. City Cast's Wil Fulton is here to explain how Charlie No-Face left an eerie mark on him as a kid, plus how the Green Man's story has been told and misunderstood by generations of Pittsburghers. Special thanks to City Cast's roving producer Elizabeth Kauma for her work on this one. Music and some sound effects courtesy of Epidemic Sound. **This episode originally published October 18, 2023. In 2012, Shell received a $1.65 billion dollar tax credit from Pennsylvania for their plastics plant in Beaver County. Along with state lawmakers, Shell promised that this facility would bring thousands of jobs to the region and revitalize the local economy — but less than three years after opening the plant, the company's already trying to sell it off. Inside Climate News reporter Kiley Bense joins host Megan Harris to explain why Shell already wants out, and why one analyst called this project "a terrible investment of taxpayer money." A York County man is being charged with assault but not with a hate crime after attacking an L-G-B-T-Q community member. Pennsylvania’s laws do not include protections against hate directed at people for their gender identity or sexual orientation, though Democratic lawmakers are trying to change that. Environmental groups and the PA Department of Environmental Protection have reached a $2.6 million settlement with a plastic manufacturer for polluting Raccoon Creek in Beaver County, northwest of Pittsburgh. And a deeper dive: In our increasingly online world, lots of people struggle today to find connections with other people. But one western Pennsylvania man has found a way to use the internet to connect with his extended family - thousands of them. Beaver County, Oklahoma. 1905. A sense of silence and darkness that is truly alien in this age of information. A man is driving a wagon down a desolate road when, up ahead, the ground is illuminated by an orb of light. The horses startle, nearly upending the wagon – by the time the man has settled them down, the light remains, unmoving, up ahead, directly in his path.Go check out Zelia's mom's podcast, The Great Beaver Fiasco: https://www.youtube.com/@SupperClubMediaPlease take a moment to rate and review us on Spotify and Apple.Book Ryan on CAMEO at: https://bit.ly/3kwz3DOPatreon: http://www.patreon.com/somewhereskiesByMeACoffee: http://www.buymeacoffee.com/UFxzyzHOaQPayPal: Sprague51@hotmail.comDiscord: https://discord.gg/NTkmuwyB4FBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ryansprague.bsky.socialTwitter: https://twitter.com/SomewhereSkiesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/somewhereskiespod/Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ryansprague51Order Ryan's new book: https://a.co/d/4KNQnM4Order Ryan's older book: https://amzn.to/3PmydYCStore: http://tee.pub/lic/ULZAy7IY12URead Ryan's articles at: https://medium.com/@ryan-sprague51Opening Theme Song by SeptembryoCopyright © 2025 Ryan Sprague. Beaver County Shatters Records with Top 10 All-Time Highs for 9-Weight Steers The national feeder cattle market remained red hot on Tuesday, especially for heavier weight classes, with all-time record highs set for the weighted average prices in the 800–899, 900–999, and 1,000–1,099 lb categories. Prices reached $325.79 for 8-weights, $319.39 for 9-weights, and $305.53 for 10-weights—levels once thought nearly unattainable. Records were set across the country, reflecting exceptional strength and broad-based demand in the heavyweight feeder market. Beaver County Stockyards (Beaver, OK) blew the top off the record books on Tuesday, setting an incredible 30 new barn records across multiple weight classes, including all-time highs for 4-, 7-, 8-, 9-, and 10-weight steers—marking one of the most dominant single-day market performances in the barn's history. Highlights included 18 head at 748 lbs bringing $364.00/cwt, the highest 7-weight price on Tuesday and one of the Top 5 all-time; 18 head at 829 lbs at $333.50/cwt, a new all-time high for 8-weights and one of six new Top 10 sales in that class; and 15 head at 1,031 lbs bringing $312.00/cwt, the highest 10-weight ever sold at the barn. But the biggest headline came from the 9-weights, where all 10 of the top 10 highest-priced sales in Beaver County history were set in a single day, led by 49 head at 900 lbs selling for a record $327.00/cwt. Sacrifice zones are areas where people have been left to live in conditions that threaten life itself, from toxic industrial pollution to the deadly, intensifying effects of man-made climate change. In a more just and less cruel society, the very concept of a “sacrifice zone” wouldn't exist. And yet, in America, after decades of deregulation and public disinvestment, more working-class communities are becoming sacrifice zones, and more of us are being set up for sacrifice at the altars of corporate greed and government abandonment. America's sacrifice zones are no longer extreme outliers; they are, in fact, a harrowing model of the future that lies in store for most of us if the corporate monsters, corporate politicians, and Wall Street vampires destroying our communities aren't stopped. And residents of different sacrifice zones across the country, fellow workers on the frontlines of all this reckless and preventable destruction, are connecting with each other, learning from one another, and working together to fight back. In this Working People liveshow, recorded on Oct. 19 at Red Emma's worker cooperative bookstore, cafe, and community events space in Baltimore, we speak with a special panel of residents from four different sacrifice zones in the US about how the situations they're facing in their own communities and their struggles for justice and accountability are connected. Panelists include: Hilary Flint, communications director of Beaver County Marcellus Awareness Community and a former resident of Beaver County, Pennsylvania, a few miles from the site of the Feb 2023 Norfolk Southern train derailment and chemical disaster in East Palestine, Ohio; Melanie Meade, a community organizer, educator, and life-long resident of Clairton, Pennsylvania, the site of US Steel's Clairton Coke Works, which was named the most toxic air polluter in Allegheny County in a 2021 report by PennEnvironment; Elise Keaton Wade, a real estate attorney by trade, longtime environmental justice activist, and a native of Southern West Virginia; Angela “Angie” Shaneyfelt, a resident of Curtis Bay in South Baltimore, who lives just blocks away from an open air coal terminal owned and operated by rail giant CSX Transportation, which has been polluting her community for generations. December 12, 2014. Beaver County, Pennsylvania. A severed head belonging to an elderly woman is discovered in a rural wooded area about thirty feet from the nearest road, but the rest of her remains cannot be found. The head has rubber balls inside its eye sockets and since it has been embalmed, investigators are unable to extract any DNA to make an identification, so the victim becomes known as “The Beaver County Jane Doe”. While the authorities do not believe that foul play took place, a local resident named Jay Grabner starts displaying suspicious behaviour to indicate he might have some knowledge about the head. However, all attempts to determine the Beaver County Jane Doe's identity and the circumstances of her death are unsuccessful. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore an incredibly bizarre mystery about the discovery of a severed head. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (10/10/2024): 3:05pm- TD Bank Pleads Guilty in Money-Laundering Case. Stacy Cowley, Matthew Goldenstein, and Rob Copeland of The New York Times write: “TD Bank agreed to pay about $3 billion in fines to U.S. authorities and pleaded guilty on Thursday to money-laundering-related charges in a case brought by federal prosecutors, who said the Canadian bank made it ‘convenient' for criminals to open accounts, transfer funds and even deposit seven-figure sums of cash at its branches. The combined penalties are the largest ever imposed by U.S. authorities on a bank for violating anti-money-laundering laws, and include an ‘asset cap' that prevents TD Bank from growing any bigger than its current size.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/10/business/td-bank-fine.html 3:20pm- While speaking to the press in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, President Joe Biden claimed that some Americans received “death penalties” as a result of disinformation on hurricanes spreading online. But who on earth has suggested that the hurricane wasn't real? The only thing the Biden Administration has specifically labeled as “disinformation” is the claim that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) used a portion of its funding to relocate undocumented migrants domestically—which did occur, according to FEMA's own website. Is the Biden Administration preparing to use this natural disaster as an excuse to censor speech online? 3:30pm- Tim Murtaugh—Columnist for The Washington Times & Senior Advisor to the Trump 2024 Campaign—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Donald Trump's campaign rallies in Scranton and Reading, Pennsylvania on Wednesday. If the election were held today, would Trump win PA? It certainly seems like it because the state's “electorate is much more Republican than it was in 2020.” 4:00pm- Democrats Hit the Panic Button. Amie Parnes of The Hill writes, “Democrats' nerves are at an all-time high. Two months ago—even a month ago—they were feeling bullish about Vice President Harris's prospects of defeating former President Trump. But now, with less than a month to go until Election Day, they're increasingly worried about a number of issues plaguing the Democratic nominee's campaign…There's also concern on everything from the static poll numbers in the race to the vice president's messaging and even her standing with men—not just white men but Black and Hispanic men, too.” You can read the full article here: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4922690-democrats-nervous-kamala-harris-campaign/ 4:30pm- While speaking with Bill Whitaker of “60 Minutes,” Kamala Harris was asked about becoming the Democratic Party's presidential nominee without participating in the primary process. She was unable to answer the question directly. 4:40pm- During a press conference on Thursday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed he was working on limiting “hate speech” on online platforms. Is his department preparing to censor speech? 4:50pm- Rich hilariously wonders: What qualifies as hate speech, according to Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas? For example, Rich HATES pineapple pizza. Is that enough to have him thrown in prison? 5:00pm- Phil Kerpen—President of American Commitment—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to react to a Congressional Budget Office report that estimates the federal government's 2024 deficit has exceeded $1.8 trillion, which comes at a time when there is no war involving U.S. forces, no pandemic, and no financial crisis. How did spending get so out of control? 5:20pm- Rich tries playing video clips on YouTube…and it works!! 5:35pm- Rico Elmore—Vice Chairman Republican Committee of Beaver County—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his efforts to turn Pennsylvania red in November. Elmore, a veteran, famously provided first aid to those wounded during the assassination attempt against Donald Trump in Butler, PA. 5:50pm- While speaking at ...

A Pennsylvania Teenager Discovered A Well-Preserved Severed Head In A Rural Wooded Area. On December 12, 2014, the severed head of an older woman was discovered by a 15 year old aspiring hunter. Almost 10 years later and there is still no explanation as to who this head belonged to nor has the identity of the woman been uncovered. Leads were scant and the investigation eventually went cold, especially after the only person of interest committed suicide 6 years after the head was discovered.
