Professional Fighters League light heavyweight Joshua Silveira believes 2023 will be the right moment to leave a mark on the industry thanks to his new and improved version of himself.Sometimes, it takes a loss to force us to look for improvement, and nobody better than Silveira (9-1, 2-1 PFL) knows that. Last year, Silveira was stopped a step from paradise as he lost a decision to fellow American Top Team representative Omari Akhmedov in the tournament's playoffs. After that fight, Silveira spent much time in the gym to polish his skills, but mostly he worked on his mentality. At 30, Silveira realized the window to build a legacy in mixed martial arts is pretty narrow, that's why he's hungry to become the 2023 champion. In his first 2023 assignment, Silveira will face Sam Kei on April 1, a perfect occasion to showcase the new and mature version of himself. “I took it exactly how anybody takes defeat. Defeat's not nice. It doesn't feel good. Just like winning feels amazing, defeat feels the opposite, but you build from it. It doesn't make you who you are. It doesn't say that you're a bad fighter. If anything, it helps you find some little bit more of a guide of where you gotta go. Sometimes, if you're winning, winning, winning, winning, winning, who knows what you gotta do, you know? Taking this loss, I know it sounds a little bit of what everyone says when they lose, ah, they change this, they change that. I think the thing I changed the most was how I view MMA. I love this sport. I'm obsessed with the sport. You only have a little bit of a window. Rob Wilkinson is ready to do whatever it takes to keep the Professional Fighters League championship in Australia.In 2022, Wilkinson (17-2, 4-0 PFL) made history after becoming the first PFL champion fighting out of Australia in promotional history. “Razor” cut through his opponents Bruce Souto, Viktor Pasta and Delan Monte before smashing Omari Akhmedov at the PFL championships event in November. On that occasion, Akhmedov was forced to retire by the cageside physician after taking much punishment in two rounds. Today takes you back to that first trip to 'Fight Island', as we have Wednesday fights!!! 'UFC on ESPN 20' is brimming with intriguing match-up's and we have a few local fighters, like Manon Fiorot & Mounir Lazzez looking to hear their names chanted by the crowds! Omari Akhmedov vs Tom Breese is a great fight to lead into the main card, packed with six duels that all have the potential, to grab that 'Fight of the Night' moniker! Tyson Nam ended his last two fights via KO and you know he'll want to make that a threepeat. The opponent may have changed, but Warlley Alves is still looking to get back on track. We've reached the UFC halfway mark in what should be a huge culmination of three events when Conor McGregor takes on Dustin Poirier next Saturday. Once again, UFC Fight Island on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi fails to disappoint. Before that, Michael Chiesa and Neil Magny headline an underrated card from Yas Island. Plenty of UFC prospects will get their shot against some notable UFC veterans who are hoping to make a mark in 2021. Warlley Alves gets the tough test of slowing down Mounir Lazzez after he upset Abdul Alhassan in his debut. If the main card wasn't enough with Lerone Murphy and Douglas Silva de Andrade making their return, the prelims are primed to be better. On a night where there were 11 fights either cancelled or postponed before and during the event it was a miracle the UFC got an event on at all. This event on the 7th of September, 2019, the UFC went to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to bring us UFC 242, a PPV (Pay-Per-View) event, via ESPN+. The event featured athletes in the co-main and main event, as top-ranked lightweight strikers Edson Barboza and Paul Felder looked to replicate their 2015 Fight of the Night bout, ending with Felder edging out Barboza and winning this time around, via Split Decision; leading Paul to call out any of the ‘top five’ for his next bout. The main event of the night involved UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier battling to unify the belts — which resulted in Poirier’s fans being devastated while watching Dustin be dominated by a round three submission, via a rear naked choke, delivered from the undefeated Khabib, in a near perfect performance. We also had Khabib’s brother, Islam Makhachev defeating Davi Ramos via Unanimous Decision, Curtis Blaydes defeating Abdurakhimov via KO/TKO in the second round and Diego Ferreira beating Mairbek Taisumov via Unanimous Decision, despite the Ferreira naysayers. It was not a great surprise when the featured prelim bout ended with Jo Jo Calderwood defeating Andrea ‘KGB’ Lee, but it was by a somewhat surprising split decision win. Overall, it was a great card with only five decisions, one draw and seven finishes.
