PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER for my second guest EVER: please welcome the queen of bad bitch energy herself, Leann, to the mic!! In this raw and real episode, Leann and I get vulnerable AF with all things beauty standards and our journeys to love the bodies we're in. We discuss: How we have both struggled with our own body image The way society capitalizes off of women's insecurities to make money Plastic surgery, injections and filler, and makeup: how far is too far? How you can shift your mindset to create your own beauty standard rather than conforming to what society deems beautiful How our insecurities are not actually that deep How your appearance is actually the least interesting thing about you If you are feeling any type of way about your body, you've come to the right place. Leann and I are here to remind you that WE ARE SOULS, NOT BODIES! Buckle up for some encouraging messages baby, you don't wanna skip this episode :) Follow Leann's Photography Account

Welcome to Batavia, Ohio, the seat of Clermont County. The village's slogan is "Historic Past, Bright Future". The town is situated along the Appalachian Highway, a major east-west highway that connects southern Ohio to the Cincinnati area. There are a number of notable people who've called the area home, including a surprising number of baseball players for a town of 1,600 people. One non-sports standout is Josephine Johnson, the youngest winner of the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. There is also an extensive mine system in the area, including a limestone mine that is still in operation. No, George, there is no gold. Despite that small disappointment, we hope you enjoy our little trip to the Village of Batavia!

Amy Miller takes Center Stage this week! Amy Miller was one of Comedy Central's “Up Next” comics for 2018 and was a breakout favorite in Season 9 of "Last Comic Standing." Her Comedy Central Presents set has been viewed over 3-million times on Youtube and Facebook. She was also a featured comic on Viceland's "Flophouse." On "Last Comic Standing," Keenen Ivory Wayans said she had one of the “fiercest jokes he had ever heard.” Originally from the East Bay, Amy found her comedy chops in Oakland and is still a regular at the SF Punch Line and Cobb's Comedy Club. Her material is personal, political, and 100% authentic. The Laugh Button says “She found a wildly creative way to find empowerment while simultaneously sparking laughter” and Courting Comedy says “Miller juxtaposes an unassuming demeanor with unflinching assurance.” After a move to Portland in 2012, Amy quickly rose to the top of the Pacific Northwest comedy scene, winning Portland's Funniest in Helium's 2015 contest, as well as being voted Portland's Funniest Comedian for 2013 and 2015 in the Willamette Week. She was the first woman to win each position and the only one to win all three. Amy's debut album, "Solid Gold," is available on Kill Rock Stars and was named one of the top 10 comedy albums of 2016 by the "Interrobang." You may have also seen Amy on Viceland or heard her on SiriusXM, NPR, "Doug Loves Movies," "The Adam Carolla Show," "The Bennington Show," "Put Your Hands Together," "All Fantasy Everything," "Keith and the Girl," or her own podcast, "Who's Your God?" L'havdil, there is a famous philosophical question - 'What is the sound of one hand clapping?' (Sometimes associated with a koan, or paradoxical riddle - perhaps sometime we will look at the gifts of wisdom that Avraham Avinu gave to the children of the East - not necessarily unconnected, albeit distorted somewhat.) Amongst the answers, we hear: 'The sound of one hand clapping is the sound of the other hand, the absent or invisible hand that claps because one hand cannot clap, there can only be two hands clapping. One hand cannot clap without the other. The one hand is made complete only by the other, so that even in its individuality, the one hand claps with the other.' Or... 'The sound of one hand clapping cannot be heard. We do not have the physical capacity to hear it. Therefore, we have to recognize our human limitations...' In the third installment of water-based songs, we hear from the rivers. The eternal cycle of sea to cloud to mountain to river, is witness to G-d's mastery and majesty in the world. They work together in perfect harmony. The song is just perfect too. The rivers clap in appreciation of all the elements working together like this. Here is the reason that the question we began with does not actually begin*...the clap is redolent of elements working together. Together - not alone. The appreciation, the recognition, the spontaneous applause...the song...bursts out when the hands are put together. And together they exult in seeing G-d's plan in full flow... By the way, perhaps a more insightful answer to the question: "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" "Nothing." *(I know that for students of zen, they may point out that the ultimate resolution is the realisation that the two become one - in essence, not far off what we are trying to say - but this is not the point of our podcast)

This bug deserves a big round of applause and not just because it’s nicknamed “The Clap”. Check out this week’s episode to gasp in wonder at the tricks that Neisseria gonorrhoeae uses to tiptoe past your immune system. Then prepare to cringe at some old-timey treatments for the disease while we trace the history of this ancient pathogen. Finally, make sure you have a quarantini or placeborita in hand for when we chat about the not-so-cheery outlook for this particular sexually-transmitted infection. Believe us, this is one episode you’re not gonn(orrhe)a want to miss.

Cameron Esposito is a comedian, actor, writer, and podcast host (Queery, Put Your Hands Together). We created a playlist for a gay prom that covers all the bases - getting ready, romantic moments, painful breakups, and full-on butt-shaking dancing. We also talked a lot about the world in general along the way. Fun side note - all the musicians on this playlist are LBGTQ+! Follow @CoolPlaylistPod and @ElizaSkinner on twitter! Comedian Danielle Perez (Jimmy Kimmel, Put Your Hands Together) talks about asking your crush those pesky, panic-inducing yes-or-no questions and why Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" will haunt her forever and ever and ever.
This week, we welcome Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher to the show. Esposito and Butcher are both seasoned comedians and actors who happen to be married to each other. They also produce, write, and star in the show Take My Wife together; they co-host regular stand-up nights (that are collected in the podcast Put Your Hands Together); and they're currently on tour together traveling around the country in a bus! Whew! On this episode, we chat about the importance of support when pursuing a creative career, how much of Take My Wife is pure documentary, their current tour, too much of a good thing, and why we need comedy - especially now.
We're still alive.....
This episode was recorded at the North Bar in Chicago as the first show on our five-city Midwestern tour. What better subject to tackle on our first trip to the Windy City than “Chicago Bosses?” Our first storyteller was one of Chicago’s funniest comedians, Adam Burke (Doug Loves Movies, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Put Your Hands Together). Adam told us a slightly disgusting story about his time working at a pub where his boss reused the beer that spilled into the trap. He also admitted to being very bad at construction. Shannon Noll, who you might know from getting threats for her live portrayal of Barron Trump, told a hilarious story about doing speed and being the best dishwasher one major sub sandwich shop has ever seen. Her story also involves fireworks and a very gross revelation about used kitchen grease. Like every creative in Chicago, Dan Sheehan (creator of the hilarious NOT A WOLF Twitter account) spent some time working for the online deals pioneers Groupon. His review of his time with the company is less that glowing. And Finally, Kyle Scanlan (The Whiskey Journal, the Lincoln Lodge) talked about his time working in sales, washing cars, and a boss who encouraged him never to give up on his comedy dreams. His story has an amazing payoff.
This weeks guest is Scott Thiede! Scott is an improviser and a sketch writer. You can see him at the Clubhouse every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month with the show Goosh at 7pm. He also has a show coming up at UCB Sunset on Earth Day- The Earth-Gina Monologues, which is in the style of The Vagina Monologues, except it's all about the terrestrial experience and how man has suppressed the land and sea for far too long. It features a killer cast giving monologues as our very own Earth. During our time on the big red couch we go over: A woman who gave birth mid-flight on Turkish airlines at 42,000 feet! She and her baby are both healthy and well back on land. Pope Francis has opened a free laundromat for the homeless people of Rome. He also plans on adding showers and a barbershop to the facilities. It’s possible I have already showcased this business, but Muzzicycle is a Brazillian company that recycled plastics to make bicycles. They use almost 16 tons of wasted plastic a year! That’s 5 tons of C02 emissions that are no longer going into the atmosphere. They have a crazy waitlist for their bikes but I hope that won’t stop all of us from buying one! The gofundme of the week (it’s actually an indiegogo this episode) is a group of students who are raising money for the Knoxville YWCA. Their goal is super attainable and the YWCA is great so I thought it was a good little one to give a shout out to. Thanks to a recent decision by the Court of Appeals, civil rights laws now protect employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation. This is in large part thanks to Kimberly Hively, a math teacher who has been fighting since 2014 against the discrimination she received during her employment Ivy Tech Community College. Scott is from Bethesda, Maryland and the city seems to be very excited that they are getting a Target downtown. Animal corner has put a brand new spin on zoos for Hannah. Six different zoos have helped rescue species from their extremely endangered status. She still doesn’t support the LA Zoo. That place is a circus. Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butler met at a comedy night in Chicago five years ago. Rhea was new to comedy and still had a day job. Cameron had been a working comedian for almost a decade. They hit it off, fell in love, moved to LA, got married and started a stand up night called "Put Your Hands Together". Last year they were asked by the Seeso network to make a stand up series based on "Put Your Hands together". It ended up morphing into the show they made, a sitcom called "Take My Wife". The show mirrors their lives in almost every way. Cameron and Rhea sit down with Jesse to talk about the good and bad of making a show based on your lives and marriage. Although he is probably best known for his role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Jeff Garlin has a very prolific career. He came in to tell us about the craziest night of his career for our new segment "The craziest @#$% day of your career". Jesse tells us about a movie with a beautiful lack of ambition. The taking of Pelham 123.

Cameron Esposito is a rising star stand-up comic who started out in Chicago and is now the host of the podcast Put Your Hands Together on Feral Audio (home of Improv Nerd!), and the author of the A.V. Club column “Who In the World Is Carmeron Esposito?” In this episode, she takes a break from her busy touring schedule promoting her second comedy album, “Same Sex Symbol,” to chat with Jimmy about engaging with hecklers, the influence of a religious upbringing, comedy's role in her coming out story, and how five years of professional improv impacted her stand-up. Enjoy!
Cameron Esposito (Conan, Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Put Your Hands Together!) makes it weird!
