ICYMI, this episode aired in March of this year. In this episode, I dive into the latest pop culture news. We discussed Christine Brown's upcoming memoir and the mixed reactions it's receiving, as well as the drama surrounding her Instagram comments. I also provided updates on the ongoing "It Ends With Us" lawsuit involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, and the curious case of Brandon Sklenar's brooch. We touched on the tragic deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife due to a rare rat-borne illness, and I passionately supported the "Free Wendy" movement for Wendy Williams. If you DON'T like electric vehicles, you should drive the Genesis GV60. Because here's the thing: I don't like EVs either. At least I was pretty convinced I didn't. But the driving experience of the Genesis GV60 is good enough to make me realize, it's actually not 'the concept' of an electric vehicle that I don't like. Rather, it's 'what they've come to represent' over the last few years. And as astute & honest car enthusiasts, we have to be able to separate 'the car' from its stigma and/or its politics. Politics & preconceived notions aside… The Genesis GV60 is a great option, IF it fits your lifestyle requirements. Maybe it does; maybe it doesn't; maybe it's best YOU get to decide & not the government. But also maybe you're digging your heels in to make a point… and maybe cheating yourself out of something cool in the process. Maybe not lol. I can't speak to the GV60's value, resale value, or future obsolescence… you also gotta slide that scale on your own. But I can say, with the right approach, the Genesis GV60 could make a great addition to a lot of car lovers' garages. Not as a replacement to their beloved sports cars and/or 4x4s of yesteryear… but as an addition to them. I'll be honest, the Genesis GV60 has opened my eyes to some misapplied hate I had for electric vehicles. That doesn't make all the valid EV criticisms all-the-sudden untrue. But it DOES make some of them perhaps unfair. If you're in the market, not just for an EV, but for a new car (daily) in general. Check all your preconceived notions at the door of a Genesis dealership, and experience what the GV60 has to offer with no strings attached. Whether or not it ends up being your cup of tea, it's something worth experiencing.

Achieving personal growth often requires experiencing discomfort. What if instead of tolerating discomfort (e.g., feeling awkward or uncomfortable), people actively sought it out? To explore this pressing question, we are joined by Kaitlin Woolley. Kaitlin is an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, specializing in motivation science. Leveraging insights from marketing, psychology, behavioural economics, and organizational behaviour, her research delves into three key areas within motivation: 1) understanding predictors of motivation, 2) identifying cognitive biases in goal-related decisions, and 3) understanding the social dynamics of goal pursuit. Woolley's research examines the psychological processes that influence goal pursuit, with the ultimate goal of developing interventions to enhance consumer motivation. Woolley's research is published in top journals in marketing and psychology, including Psychological Review, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Psychological Science. She also publishes popular press articles, including in the Harvard Business Review and The Conversation. Her research is regularly covered by outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and NPR. Woolley has won several awards and honours for her research, including the Rising Star award from the Association for Psychological Science, the Young Scholar Award from the Marketing Science Institute, and the Early Career Award from the Society for Consumer Psychology. At Johnson, Woolley connects with MBA students in teaching the core marketing course and an elective on customer insights. She earned a bachelor's degree magna cum laude in psychology from Cornell University. Her MBA and PhD are from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

President, CEO, and general counsel of the Alliance Defending Freedom, Kristen Waggoner, joins us for a discussion on freedom of speech and religious liberty. ADF has played various roles in 74 U.S. Supreme Court victories and since 2011, has won cases before the Court 15 times.  According to its website, “ADF is the world's largest legal organization committed to protecting religious freedom, free speech, marriage and family, parental rights, and the sanctity of life.” ADF has litigated many high profile and controversial free speech cases, including the recent Supreme Court case involving a web designer who didn't want to be compelled to design websites for same-sex weddings. Before that, ADF litigated the 2018 Masterpiece Cakeshop case, which involved a cake designer who similarly didn't want to provide his services for same-sex weddings on religious grounds. After the initial conversation was recorded, The Washington Post and The New Yorker released articles critical of ADF. Prolific jazz trumpeter and composer Nate Wooley today released a four-disc box set, Four Experiments– a boundary-defying “anti-instruction-manual” to developing musical technique. Praised by The New York Times for “music of disarming intimacy,” Wooley has crafted Four Experiments as a collection of study pieces where the goal is not step-by-step instruction through known methods, but a guide to charting the uncharted. With an emphasis on expanding knowledge and loosening preconceived attitudes, Wooley's “experiments” offer insights on composition and improvisation while infusing a uniquely human element: exploring the idea of authorship in contemporary music, mining the complexity of human interaction, and daring to find value in experiencing failure. Four Experiments TracklistExperiment One: “Bray Trumpets, Blow forever in my head!”     1. Many thanks to Marilyn Wooley, Ph.D., for joining me on The Art of Medicine with Dr. Andrew Wilner. Dr. Wooley is a psychologist and traumatologist who works with first responders. She is the author of “How Heroes Heal,” a book that discusses the extraordinary experiences of first responders that can result in debilitating post-traumatic stress injury and even suicide. Based on her many years of experience treating thousands of first responders who have faced extraordinary stressors, Dr. Wooley noticed patterns of debilitating symptoms that result from trauma on the job. She observed that symptoms of traumatic injury in first responders can resemble those experienced by soldiers in wartime. Sufferers may experience emotional distress due to fear, guilt, and shame resulting from perceived failure on the job. Inappropriate fight-or-flight responses may plague the individual.Over the years, Dr. Wooley has identified helpful treatment strategies to treat these symptoms, leading to “post-traumatic growth” rather than emotional and physical disability. By embarking on a “Heroes Journey,” sufferers can work through their experiences and come out stronger at the end. “How Heroes Heal” offers inspiration and hope to first responders, their colleagues, and families. Please join us for this informative and fascinating 30-minute discussion. To purchase “How Heroes Heal,” Dr. Wooley, please go to:https://amzn.to/3Y5hptzThanks for listening to this program on YouTube!  Feedback is welcome! CNN, Award-Winning Director, The long awaited award winning documentary chronicling the life and career of music legend Dionne Warwick will finally make its way to television. “Dionne Warwick: Don't Make Me Over” airs on New Year's Day  - Sunday, January 1st, 2023 – at 9 pm ET/PT on  CNN. “Dionne Warwick: Don't Make Me Over” was five years in the making, according to filmmaker Dave Wooley, who wrote and solely produced the documentary. Wooley also directed the film alongside veteran David Heilbroner (of “Say Her Name: The Life & Death of Sandra Bland”). “Working on Ms. Warwick's documentary is a dream come true. “To see the movie come to fruition and most importantly, for Ms. Warwick to receive such accolades during her lifetime is gratifying,” explains Wooley, who earned the following honors for the movie – First Runner Up at the Toronto International Film Festival (category: People's Choice Award for Documentaries), Best Feature Film: Black Harvest Film Festival - Gene Siskel Film Center, Audience Award: Best Non Fiction- Montclair Film Festival, Annapolis Film Festival: Audience Award as well as the Audience Award: Bronze Lens and a 90% critics' rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Wooley, who also co-authored Ms. Warwick's autobiography, “My Life as I See It”, wants viewers to realize there's more to the singing icon than the several classic hits she enjoyed (“Walk On By”, “I Say A Little Prayer”, “Do You Know The Way To San Jose”, “Then Came You”, “That's What Friends Are For”). “I want folks to learn about Ms. Warwick's legacy and as a transformational leader,” explains Wooley. “We focus on her work and commitment to Civil Rights in the 1960's and how she stood up and stared down at Jim Crow racism. Then we move on into the 1980's with the AIDS epidemic and her ambassadorship on the US commission to address this matter, which led to Ms. Warwick to prompt then-President Ronald Reagan to speak directly on the issue.”The documentary, which also features Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Bill Clinton, Snoop Dogg, Burt Bacharach, Carlos Santana and Alicia Keys among others, was privately screened at the Apollo Theater in NYC's Harlem – the very venue where Ms. Warwick began her long storied solo career. Wooley explains how the icon reacted when seeing the film. “Upon viewing, Ms. Warwick said to me, ‘Dave, you put your foot in that (film)'. That meant so much to me because I put my entire being into making the doc. It's indeed an honor.”© 2022 All Rights Reserved© 2022 BuildingAbundantSuccess!!Join Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBASSpot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23baAmazon Music ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBASAudacy:  https://tinyurl.com/BASAud
