Ryan Ross is a Denverite with a big idea. As a private investigator with an office right on the 16th St. Mall, he's watched downtown go through it all over the past few years — from the pandemic to seemingly endless construction to whatever 16th St. is becoming now. But instead of just grumbling about it all, Ryan has put together an ambitious plan of his own, chock full of big ideas to address concerns about public safety, slow business, and inconvenient transit options. Host Bree Davies sits down with Ryan to hear about how a gondola is just the beginning. For even more news from around the city, subscribe to our morning newsletter Hey Denver at denver.citycast.fm. This week I talk with my good friends, Cody Vermillion and Ryan Ross. Two faith leaders and entrepreneurs from San Diego CA. We talk about our beliefs around work, family, creativity, our passion for serving humanity, and how we are all made for more. You'll see why I chose them to be a part of this series on Beliefs. And I can reassure you that after knowing them for years, they are the real deal. They “live out” what they believe. No matter what beliefs you hold or where you are in your faith, my hope is you will find a comfortable seat at this table. So, pull up a chair. May you find value and inspiration as we talk about what it means to live more valiantly as we address what limits us and dare to believe in the “more” we each long for. Ryan and Cody are doing something unconventional… quite uncommon, actually. Hence, the name of their work, UNCMN Creative, and their ministry, Uncommon Good. OK, I couldn't resist spoofing the Aussie Band popular in the U.S. back in the day “Men At Work.” Today's episode is with my Australian friend Ryan Ross who I have come to know through our mutual affection for Soren Kierkegaard. We talk about a lot of topics including Philosophical Fragments, Leap of Faith, Knight of Faith, and Love. Plus, a reference to Ultimate Frisbee which was totally unexpected. Thanks Ryan for being an encouragement to me with the podcast. You are a cool dude. Besides that weird accent. Ha-ha.

On this episode of This vs. That, we dive into a fascinating conversation with Ryan Ross, the pastor at City Church in Melissa, Texas. In this episode, we explore the dynamic between a pastor as a friend versus a pastor as an authority. Ryan shares his insights and experiences in navigating these roles within his congregation. We discuss the importance of friendship in the church, the challenges of balancing authority and friendship, and the significance of maintaining healthy cross-gendered friendships within the body of Christ. Join us as we explore the complexities and joys of pastoral relationships. ----- At Anchored Hope, we're committed to excellence. We believe that compassionate, biblically grounded, clinically informed counseling shouldn't be hard to find. That's why we are also committed to affordability and accessibility. To do this as a nonprofit, however, requires us to lock arms with people who care about the mental, emotional, and spiritual crisis happening all around us. While our funds go to people in need of counseling and to support the growing ministry of Anchored Hope, we have two specific financial needs. One is to serve ministry leaders in a foreign country that are caring and doing outreach to trafficked victims. The other need is a request to help and financing counseling for military families across the nation. If you would like more information about these two opportunities to give, send us an email at: office@biblicalcounseling.online ----- This vs. That is a podcast of Anchored Hope. Anchored Hope provides practical help to those hurting by anchoring their hope in Jesus and helping others gain a better understanding of his promises. We offer reputable, biblical counsel to those suffering or experiencing difficult seasons. Our counselors are highly trained and bring a vast experience in addressing the various issues of life. Ted Stryker welcomes the incredibly talented Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy to Tuna on Toast! Fall Out Boy release their new album "So Much (for) Stardust on March 24th, 2023. As we sit here today (March 2), the band has the number one song in the country with "Love From the Other Side". Their very first number 1!! The guys discuss what was the inspiration for the song...Pete also explains why not going back to the well of what Fall Out Boy created 15-20 years ago was so important when making the new album. He did not want a retread. Pete talks about all the rejection letters FOB received from record labels all those years ago before the release of "Take This to Your Grave". Pete recalls a show in Wisconsin when his current manager Bob McLynn was at that show and saw that rawness and spark! Pete tells the story of how he (Pete) signed Panic! At the Disco and the messages he received from Ryan Ross and Brendon Urie. Pete mentions the "magic" that Turnstile has as well has Lana Del Rey and Lorde! Stryker and Pete talk about how Tim McIlrath from Rise Against is like his brother and that they were in many bands together growing up. Pete shares that he really wants the young artists out there to break through. It was such a treat to chat with Pete Wentz, he's a huge talent and a really good dude (I'll see about his golf game in person) Make sure to find FOB on their huge world tour! Thanks for listening to another episode of Tuna on Toast!
