The FMSF described its purpose as the examination of the concept of false memory syndrome and recovered memory therapy and advocacy on behalf of individuals believed to be falsely accused of child sexual abuse.” In Mary's documentary, she actually was able to get in-person interviews with FMSF founders as well as Elizabeth Loftus - who was involved with the FMSF and is an American psychologist who is best known in relation to the misinformation effect, false memory and criticism of recovered memory therapies.
