Racing twice in 2002 with Minardi and once again three years later with BAR Honda in 2005, Anthony Davidson's Formula 1 career had a few false starts. But in 2007, he finally got a full-time shot with Super Aguri. Although his F1 career ended just over a year later, Anthony is rightly proud to have reached the top of motorsport. Speaking to Tom Clarkson, he discusses the ups and down of his time in F1 – telling us why he was a better test driver than racing driver, how his incredibly short-notice cameo at the 2005 Malaysian Grand Prix came about, why a groundhog cost him his best ever finish in F1, and what it was like to be involved in the so-called ‘Tyre War era' of Formula 1. Anthony also opens up about winning the World Endurance Championship with Sebastian Buemi in 2014 and why that meant so much to him having felt like ‘everything was lost' after F1. Now a simulator driver for Mercedes, Ant explains how much the sim technology has improved over time, what impact his work has on Mercedes' performance during race weekends and whether sim racing makes Max Verstappen a better driver. Welcome to the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast, where our presenters, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us a motorsport roundup from the past week! We have WRC, Formula E and single seater updates this week! But of course, we start with Formula 1 news, where FIA president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem has announced that he will not get as involved in Formula 1. The announcement comes after the FIA President caused more controversy over his sexism comments. Max Verstappen will appear in the upcoming Netflix series, Drive To Survive. The Formula 1 World Champion has stated that he has given Netflix a 30 minute interview on last season. In Women's Motorsport, British driver, Katherine Legge has been announced to be driving at the Indy 500 this year. At the Formula E in India, a new motorsport Championship has been launched for 2024, named ACE Championship. We had a really good rally in the WRC in Sweden, where we had snow and ice. Ott Tänak won the rally in his M-Sport Ford, taking the lead in the final stage from Craig Breen, a now Hyundai driver that used to drive for the Ford team. Formula E were racing in Hyderabad in India. After blocking his fellow drivers, DS Penske's Jean-Eric Vergne brought home the win, beating Envision Racing driver Nick Cassidy in 2nd, and TAG Heuer Porsche's Antonio Felix da Costa who was given 3rd place, following a penalty to Sebastian Buemi. In UK Motorsport, there's a proposal to penalise drivers by 1 second instantly if they put a half a tyre off the track. This would be a UK law for all motorsport taking place in the UK. Furthermore, drivers are not allowed to protest the decision. The Formula Four and Formula Regional Middle East were in Dubai this weekend, with Ferrari academy driver, Tuukka Taponen, appearing to be a shining light in this series. In Formula Regional Middle East, Mercedes academy driver, Andrea Kimi Antonelli took his win and look to be the favourite to win the season. In New Zealand, we had the Formula Regional Oceana, where Austrian driver, Charlie Wurz took the Championship win. Coming up next week, we have the Daytona 500, the Formula Four and Formula Regional have their finales in Abu Dhabi.

Kimi Raikkonen - is there a better candidate in the Formula 1 paddock to play the role of James Bond? No, sorry, Lewis Hamilton loses out too. Jokes aside, it is high time Sebastian Vettel stops playing the role of the villain who spins or crashes out other drivers.  In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we point out the irony in Nico Rosberg's advice to Kimi Raikkonen, applaud Renault's honest admittance of ignoring Nico Hulkenberg, wonder if Lewis Hamilton will collect the Constructors' trophy next race and if there's a nexus between former Formula 1 drivers to further ruin the sport's tyres for 2020. Tune in! (Season 2019, Episode 28) Here's what's in store for you in this episode: 0:00-3:00: Why Kimi Raikkonen wins the mandate to be the next James Bond. Sorry, Lewis! 3:00-6:00: The irony of Nico Rosberg's advice to Kimi Raikkonen. Also, did Ferrari fire the wrong driver last year? Happy Anniversary, Seb. 6:00-9:00: The Formula 1 tyre conspiracy deepens further. First Marcus Ericsson, then Sebastian Buemi. 9:00-12:00: Lewis Hamilton to collect the Constructors' trophy at the next race? He's doing much more for Ferrari than just racing! Also, why Eddie Jordan is to be believed when he talks about Mclaren and Mercedes 12:00-15:00: Yes for ground effects, but no for re-fuelling. Which driver has spun and / or crashed the most in the last 12 months? ;-) Could Jean-Eric Vergne be the solution to the Pierre Gasly-headache for Red Bull Racing? 15:00-18:00: Romain Grosjean could be the reason Nico Hulkenberg saves his seat at Renault for 2020? Safe to say, this was a pretty hectic weekend in Motorsport. We recorded this episode the same day it all unfolded, so our feelings were pretty raw. Hope it comes off well. In the episode, we mainly focus around the Austrian Grand Prix, and the Formula E Season 2 Finale in London. There's lengthy discussions about the Hamilton/Rosberg crash, the nature of F1 fandom in general, Ferrari's frustrating strategy calls as Vettel's rear goes pop, and the rest of the race in general, as Wehrlein scored a precious point for Manor, Jenson Button finished 7th for McLaren too, as seven different teams got into the points. We'll also talk the Formula E Season 2 Finale as Lucas Di Grassi took himself and Sebastian Buemi out of contention on the opening lap, turning the 2nd race into a Time Attack session, in spectacular fashion. We also talk about the state of the sport going forward, and the season at large as big changes are planned for Season 3. That and some more of your questions, in a bumper edition of the show! Enjoy!

I really think Carmen and Marcus need to just hug it out. Anyway, welcome to Episode 28 of the Motorsport101 Podcast, and in this loaded edition: - We talk Formula E in Buenos Aries, Sam Bird's victory, as well as brilliant fightback from Sebastian Buemi to finish 2nd, as well as the potential of a GP in New York, and the new Berlin layout announced earlier this week. - A HUGE Manor section, where we talk about their new driver line-up as reigning DTM Champion Pascal Wehrlein and GP2's Rio Haryanto complete the 2016 grid, responding to the rather crummy "Pay Driver" allegations that just keep coming out. Oh, and their WEC expansion too. Also, we may have called out The Grid Girls for a collaboration... So that's nice, right? - We talk about the recent beef between Marcus Sorensen and Richie Stanaway as they targeted Carmen Jorda... Because salt. - We talk about BBC Top Gear's new SEVEN personality strong line-up and ask the all important question: Just who is Rory Reid? - More news as well, as we talk the potential Alfa Romeo comeback, Honda's reshuffle of talent as Stoffel Vandoorne heads to Japan, and we also take your questions as we tentatively predict where Renault and Haas end up too. All that in 78 crazy minutes. We had a real laugh on this one and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did! And don't forget, we're on Stitcher, and TuneIn now as well, so pick your platform and enjoy!

Fun fact: Me and King have enormous crushes on Alex Morgan and Meghan Klingenberg, so if you ever end up seeing a random black guy in your girls’ judo class, you know why! But seriously, in this stacked episode: – We talk about how terrible the GPDA Survey ended up being, and why the voice of reason against it was… Max Verstappen?! – The British GP, how Williams lost the race, how Hamilton pretty much fluked the win, and all the other action in what was a crazy and awesome race, that F1 kinda needed. – The Formula E Season Finale, and how Nelson Piquet nearly lost a Championship that was his for the taking as Sebastian Buemi narrowly lost out, and while Battersea didn’t really work as a venue, it was only a minor blemish on an otherwise FANTASTIC first season – And a look at IndyCar in Fontana, in one of the craziest races of the year, Graham Rahal picked up just his second series victory in one as Takuma Sato and Ryan Hunter-Reay make a case for Pack Racing to be banned. But is it really as bad as many think? All that and more in Episode 21 of the Motorsport 101 Podcast! Enjoy!
