Born from a dream and a thrifted sewing machine in San Clemente, California, the women's surfing apparel brand Seea was formed. In this episode, Holly chats with Seea founder Amanda Chinchelli about the brand's creation, production, philosophy and goals. We chat about Amanda's unique surf upbringing in Italy and her ultimate exposure to the California surf lifestyle, from San Francisco to San Clemente. When she moved to San Clemente she realized she was ready to connect her loves of fashion, production and surfing. She noticed a need in the market for cute, functional women's surf suits that fit the longboard aesthetic. Slowly but surely her new hobby turned into a full blown business. She believes the way you surf is a reflection of your personality and soul, and that it is our responsibility to decide what beauty is and how it is portrayed in the media. Week TwoDecember 7, 2021Someday At ChristmasIsaiah 19:18-25In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together…The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel, my inheritance.” Isaiah 19:23, 25 (NIV)Someday at Christmas, men won't be boys,Playing with bombs like kids play with toys. One warm December, our hearts will seeA world where men are free.—Stevie Wonder, “Someday at Christmas” (1967)When I was a child, we put up decorations while listening to this holiday classic every Christmas. As a child, the music moved me. But now, as an adult, I value the lyrics equally. The song's message is just as important now as it was in 1967. In my view, it is such a fitting song for Advent.I often wonder if Stevie knows how his song dovetails nicely with the prophetic and eschatological themes of Advent. Like the prophet Isaiah, he penned a vision of the future where joy, peace, hope, and love will be the order of the day. However, what's important to note is that no one will be left out of this vision. In the oracles from Isaiah, we read that although God will hold Egypt and Assyria accountable for their oppression of God's people, yet still God includes them in this reconciling work. This Advent, may we consider how anticipating Christ's coming into the world involves drawing the circle of grace wider. We embrace those already in the fold, those pushed to the margins, and yes, even our enemies. In Advent, we anticipate restorative justice not through building walls but through paving highways that all may enter the ever-inclusive Kin-dom of God. The fruit of our faithful labor may not be immediately apparent. But as Stevie would put it, the fulfilment will come “maybe not in time for you and me, but someday at Christmastime.”Keith Anthony BethellStudent Senate Member and Master of Theological Studies Student See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Treesby Joyce KilmerI think that I shall never seeA poem lovely as a treeA tree whose hungry mouth is pressedAgainst the earth's sweet flowing breastA three that looks at God all dayAnd lifts her leafy arms to prayA tree that may in Summer wearA nest of robins in her hairUpon whose bosom snow has lainWho intimately lives with rainPoems are made by fools like meBut only god can make a tree咏树乔伊斯.

Few/a few/little/a littleFew i a few stosoujemy do rzeczwowników policzalnychNa przykładFew people, few books, few films A few friends, a few books.few oznacza po prostu mało – dla rzeczowników policzalnychA few zaś – kilka. There were a few people at the meeting so we could talk. – Było kilka osób na spotkaniu, więc mogliśmy pogadać – ma to wydźwięk pozytywny, dodatni.Jeżeli powiemy zaś: There were few people at the meeting so we couldn't vote anything. – Było mało osób na spotkaniu I nie mogliśmy na nic zagłosować. – Ma to wydźwięk negatywny, niewystarczający. Little i a little zaś odnoszą się, określają rzeczowniki niepoliczalneNa przykładHe drinks little water. – On pije mało wody.AleHe drinks a little wine at parties. – On pije trochę win ana przyjęciach. He has a little money, so let's go party! – On ma trochę kasy, więc chodźmy na imprezę. – Czyli Little oznacza mało dla rzeczowników niepoliczalnychA little oznacza troche I ma to wydźwięk pozytywnyNależy więc zapamiętać, że few i little sugerują zbyt małą liczbę, a a few i a little mają bardziej pozytywny wydźwięk, podkreślają fakt, że czegoś jest więcej niż tylko troszeczkę.Mówimy więc:-Little money - mało pieniędzy (zbyt mało by np. coś kupić)-Few books – mało książek-A little money – trochę pieniędzy ( mało, ale na coś tam starczy)-a few books – kilka książek Jak to można spróbować zapamiętać?Few ma trzy literki, więc bardzo mało…A few ma cztery literki więc to już trochę więcej, zawsze coś…Little ma mniej literek niż a little, więc little oznacza zupełnie mało, a little – o, to już coś zawsze jest… Inne przykłady:- I've got few friends – mam niewielu przyjaciół (oznacza to, że mam rzeczywiście mało przyjaciół, przydałoby się więcej)- I've got a few friends. – mam paru przyjaciół (to nieźle, zawsze mogę się z kimś spotkać)- I have little money - mam mało pieniędzy (nie dam rady kupić nic konkretnego, na nic mi nie wystarczy)- I have a little money – mam trochę pieniędzy (o! to może w coś zainwestuję, lub kupię nowy samochód) - I have a little time today – mam dziś troche czasu (to może pójdę do kina..)I jak zwykle spójrzmy, jak te wyrażenia stosowane są w piosenkach:FewThe Who – It's Hard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gV-kTMGUwIAny tough can fight, few can playAny fool can fall, few can layAny stud can reproduce, few can pleaseAnyone can pay, few can leaseIt's hardIt's hard(It's a hard, hard hand to hold(it's a hard, hard hand to holdIt's a hard land to control)It's a hard land to control)Any man can claim, few can findAny girl can blink, few can lieAnyone can promise, few can raiseAnyone can try, but a few can stayAny brain can hide, few can standAny kid can fly, few can land…A fewJay-Z – Suit and Tie – tutaj jest piosenka z tekstemhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTPHEJKbqdwI be on my suit and tie shit, tie shit, tieI be on my suit and tie shit, tie shitCan I show you a few things?A few things, a few things, little baby 'causeI be on my suit and tie shit, tie shitI be on my suit and tie shit, tie shitLet me show you a few thingsLet me show you a few thingsWait a minute, you ready, JT?I can't wait 'til I get you on the floor, good-lookingGoing out so hot, just like an ovenAnd I'll burn myself, but just had to touch itIt's so fly and it's all mineHey baby, we don't mind all the watching, hi'Cause if they study close, real close, they might learn somethingShe ain't nothing but a little doozy when she does itShe's so fly (she's so fly) tonightAnd as long as I've got my suit and tieI'ma leave it all on the floor…Toby Keith – A few more cowboys – piosenka z tekstemhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BuAZDuzq58If the White House was in Texas, man, we'd get a straighter answerIf they'd let us smoke what we want, we'd have a lot less cancerThere'd be a bunch more daddies, sons could be proud ofWe'd have half the crime, we'd have twice the funWith a few more cowboys, be a lot less outlawsWith a few more amens, be a lot less bad callsWith a few more yes ma'ams and a lot less yes manThis world would be a better place to live inWith a few more cowboysIf we did it with a handshake, we'd save a lot of paperThat'd save a lot of trees we're shippin' overseas to make herIf we stood by our word, took care of our ownBought it made in the USA, we'd keep it here at homeWith a few more cowboys, be a lot less outlawsWith a few more amens, be a lot less bad calls…Jaheim – special dayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFlMdZeSKGEBreakfast when you wake,Along with the candle on a cupcake that I baked,Catering you is much of my oblige,Instead of stress and mirage,You're the beat to my heart,Here's a rose with no thorns on the stem, you're a gem,You're the reason why i've, found 100 ways to,Adore you 3 times a day, morning noon and night,It's for youToday's a special day for you,These are a few, (these are a few, these are a few)Things I'd like to do for you,Today's a special day for you,These are a few, (these are a few, these are a few)Things I'd like to share with youI'm a fool for love today, honest I'll do,Anything you need me to, uh huh,From sun rise to sun set on this ordinary day,You can have it all your way,That's my job, you're a heart throb,Love's the…Little ARKARNA SO LITTLE TIME Song N LYRICshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3pU3EPgULUTook a while to drag me out of bedAim some coffee at my headSaw the clock, I'm running lateIt's an ordinary dayAnd I'm like a dog on heatKnock one out and then fall asleepIt's sad but trueI'd rather be with youDon't you forget about meWhen you're a celebrityIt will be only you and meBefore too longSo little time, so much to doI'd rather spend my days with youSo little time, so much to doI' like to spend one day with youAnd if that day is not enoughMaybe we can stay and touchBut I'm not making plansFor tomorrow, for tomorrowNever comes...Said I've been celibate for yearsNot out of choice there's no - The ‘everyday hero’ gene is found inside of everyone, everywhere and is waiting for the right moment to be turned on. It is expressed in simple, ordinary actions of kindness, courage, and love. A hero sacrifices for the greater good and shows true empathy and compassion. So today on Relatively Speaking we discussed heroes, what a hero looks like and how can you be a hero in your own community. We also spoke with callers who shared personal stories of heroes in their lives. Tips on how to be a "Hero"Let go of your egoA real hero knows that their actions might go unnoticed, and that’s okay. Make sure that you are trying to be a hero for the right reasons. You need to be willing to help people who might not even know you have intervened on their behalf. You have to be focused more on the feeling you get from doing the good deed than receiving praise.Initiate the change you want to seeA true hero isn’t all talk. A true hero is constantly thinking about how they can take action and help others. You may be inspired to be a hero for a certain cause or issue, or you may try to be a hero for someone in need.Put others before yourselfThink about other people needs before considering your own. Consider what others want in addition to what makes you happy.Be ready to act when others are passivePeople lead busy lives. Often a typical person is so focused on themselves, they don’t notice or care to act when something is wrong. A hero will be willing to take action and confront injustice straight on. Stick up for a friend, classmate, or coworker you feel is being treated unfairly. Buy a meal for the homeless person everyone keeps walking by on the street. Notice the underdog or the less fortunate and give them a helping hand. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

TreesI think that I shall never seeA poem lovely as a tree.A tree whose hungry mouth is pressedAgainst the earth's sweet flowing breast;A tree that looks at God all day,And lifts her leafy(多叶的)arms to pray;A tree that may in summer wearA nest of robins in her hair,Upon whose bosom snow has lain;,Who intimately lives with rain.Poems are made by fools like me,But only God can make a tree.

This week the travel podcast kicks off with a big forecast for flights this summer, averaging 2.8 million travelers per DAY starting June 1st. Expedia's travel expert with some 'advice' that doesn't tell you too much-- Mark fills in the details. No good deed goes unpunished when Carnival Paradise rescues a sailor at sea and social media trolls slam the cruise line. How politics screw up travel, at least this week, in New York City. Thanks Comrade DeBlasio and the rest of you morons on the city council.
In this episode we take a regional look at energy efficiency in the Southeastern U.S. My guest is Mandy Mahoney, President of the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, or SEEA. We start off by discussing the concept of energy efficiency and what it means these days, and then dive into SEEA’s energy efficiency work in the South, including the energy equity work that SEEA is doing in high poverty and often rural communities. Mandy, a native-born Southerner, shares her perspective on some of the economic and cultural nuances that can make it challenging to advance energy efficiency and clean energy in the South, but we also explore some innovative approaches that work. We then get into some of the interesting ways in which SEEA is expanding its energy efficiency focus to include electric transportation, storm resiliency and even healthcare. We close with a preview of SEEA’s upcoming annual Conference which will be held in Atlanta this October. Resources mentioned include: Collaboration: One Key to Arkansas' Success (slide deck by Arkansas PSC's Matthew Klucher Ouachita Electric Cooperative's HELP PAYS (Pay As You Save) Energy Efficiency Program Partnership for Southern Equity Green and Healthy Homes Initiative FORTIFIED Home™ standard for resilient construction ACEEE Rural Energy Conference fusion (2018 SEEA Conference) Recorded August 22, 2018. Marilyn Brown joined the Georgia Institute of Technology as a Professor in the School of Public Policy. During her prior career at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, she held various leadership positions managing annual research budgets of $100+ million, focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy, the electric grid. At ORNL, Dr. Brown co-authored the report, Scenarios for a Clean Energy Future, which remains a cornerstone of engineering-economic analysis of low-carbon energy options. Her research focuses on the design and impact of policies aimed at accelerating the development and deployment of sustainable energy technologies, with an emphasis on the electric utility industry, the integration of energy efficiency, demand response, and solar resources, and ways of improving resiliency to disruptions. Her books include Climate Change and Global Energy Security (MIT Press, 2011) and Fact and Fiction in Global Energy Policy (Johns Hopkins University Press, forthcoming). She has authored more than 250 publications. Dr. Brown co-founded the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance and chaired its Board of Directors for several years. She also served on the boards of directors of the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy and the Alliance to Save Energy, and was a member of the National Commission on Energy Policy for many years. She has served on five National Academies committees and for six years was a member of the National Academies’ Board of Energy and Environmental Systems. She currently serves on the editorial boards of two journals: Energy Efficiency and Energy Research and Social Science. She is currently a Presidential appointee to the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority, the nation’s largest public power provider, and serves on DOE's Electricity Advisory Committee.
The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) is one of six regional energy efficiency organizations in the U.S. working to transform the energy efficiency marketplace. Energy efficiency is a catalyst for economic growth, workforce development and energy security, and SEEA promotes its benefits and opportunities across 11 southeastern states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In this discussion, Southeast Green will interview SEEA and their partner, the Cadmus Group, about the findings of their recent economic analysis, which showed a 378 percent return on the $20.2M investment made by the U.S. Department of Energy in energy efficiency programming in the Southeast, from 2010 to 2013. We'll look at how the region performed overall, as well as how the eight participating states fared individually. We'll talk about economic output, labor income, and the number of new jobs created per million dollars invested. And, we'll explore the factors that led to the best performances.
Season 2 of the Pub Songs Podcast has now begun and I'm back with lots of new projects. Songs: "Middle Earth Bragging Song" by Marc Gunn from Soul of a Harper "Song for Her" by Melanie Gruben "The Old Copperplate/The Connachtman's Rambles/The Lark on the Strand" by Cormorant's Fancy from An Evening at the Fairfield Inn Notes: Irish & Celtic Music Magazine Finishing my Taxes Celtic Music Awards (Coming Soon) Renaissance Festival Awards - Now Open! Intro music by The Tea Merchants The Middle Earth Bragging Songwords and music by Marc Gunn We're the Race of Men,Conquer valleys and glens. We build huge towers in the sky. We're strong and we're bold,Though it be hot or coldWe'll fight everyone till we die.Oh, we'll never give up the mountain,As long as hope remains. And you will never seeA race as old as we... We're the race of DwarvesIn dark caverns we forgeAnd shape the ore that we mine. We're stout with beards,But give us a beer,And we'll drink to the gold that we find.Oh, we'll never give up the mountainAs long as there's money to be made. And you will never see,A race as old as we... We're the race of ElvesIn forests we dwellAt one with earth and the sky. We're the race first bornAnd our only concernIs how close to our gardens you lie.Oh, we'll never give up the mountainAt least until our time is done. And you will never see,A race as old as we... We're the race of Ents,And we're what was meantWhen they said there are shepherds to trees. We've been stuffy and slowSince our women left homeAnd many of us have fallen asleep. But we'll never give up the mountain. Our trees are there to defend. And you will never seeA race as old as trees... I am Tom Bombadill.I can never stand still. There's too many Creatures to see.I've many songs to singAnd a wife in the streamSo whistle a diddle-diddle to call me.Oh, I'll never give up the mountain.Or say I'm the oldest alive. For you'll probably seeA hobbit climbing a tree...And it won't even matter diddle [whistle]And it won't even matter diddle [whistle]And it won't even matter diddle [whistle] ... how high!
