Recently, she has reconnected with Skills Nunavut to help support young Nunavummiut in discovering, and developing their interest for the trades. Today's guest is Britnee Mishak, a self-titled “bindery wizard” by trade from Regina, Saskatchewan. Britnee works in a print shop where she does everything that happens to paper from printing, and finishing techniques such as coil binding, laminating, and folding. Britnee first learned of the Skills Canada competitions when she competed in 2015 for graphic design and placed Silver at provincials in Saskatchewan. Since her provincial competition, Britnee has been on the Essential Skills Youth Forum as a participant and as a leader. She feels honoured to have been a part of the Canada 150 Alumni event and to have the opportunity to speak at Skills-related events. Currently, she is the President of the Skills Canada National Alumni Committee (NAC) where she works to establish and promote Alumni Associations across the country with other NAC leaders. Growing up Connor had no idea what he wanted his career to be and it wasn't until after high school he took a chance on the Electrical trade. Connor learned about Skills Competitions from his instructor at college and entered the National Competition in 2022 representing his territory and winning gold in the Construction Electrical event. Ever since Connor has been involved with promoting skills through workshops in his territory and becoming a member of the provincial alumni group.
