Send us a textLiterally a couple days before I recorded this podcast with Siva Narendra, CEO and founder of Tyfone and now Payfinia, a story moved over the wire with this headline: Payfinia Launches CUSO with Star One Credit Union. The story added that Star One - a Silicon Valley behemoth - had invested $4.5 million in the CUSO. That money, by the way, moved in a series of $500,000 instant payments into Payfinia's coffers. At its end Payfinia has built in layers of controls to guard against fraud but to allow real time transfers. That Star One commitment tells you Payfinia is for real, and Narendra is on the show to tell about Payfinia, which he says is the opportunity for community financial institutions - that means credit unions too - to own an instant payments system that has shown its losses to fraud are dramatically lower than with instant ACH and at the same time overhead costs are dramatically lower.Instant payments are real and increasing numbers of consumers and businesses - perhaps small businesses especially - want instant payments. The time is now.Listen up.Like what you are hearing? Find out how you can help sponsor this podcast here. Very affordable sponsorship packages are available. We finally reach the denouement of Series B but who will get out alive? That keenest of self-promoters, Servalan, is in a flap as her previously moist parts are dry and her melons are freezing. Something's up at Star One where the technicians are more cabbage than kings and the neighbourhood is about to go down the (toilet) pan. Can Blake convince the enemy that he's Travis? Can Brian Croucher convince us that Travis is remotely interested in Blake's death? And can Avon and co hold off the advancing fleet of Space car boot sale leftovers? And do Jim and Martin think the episode is a worthy end to the series or is it more whimper than bang? Listen to find out! This episode can also be found at iTunes/Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible, Player FM, Pocket Casts, Podvine, Castbox and all other podcatchers (as far as we know). You can also find us on Facebook and Mastodon at @mutoidpodcast@mstdn.social, and look us up on Threads and Bluesky, where we are mutoidkrynoidpods. As mentioned in the episode, the play-out song is the Blake's 7 themed Intergalactic Space Crusaders by Star One, from their 2002 album Space Metal. Thanks for listening!

Goed verhaal lekker kort. Kortom, LUISTEREN DUS!!

It's been a mere 900 years since last week's episode, and it's time to check in with Ashildr to see if she's still the naive and loving young girl she was back in her Viking village days. Or — like the rest of us — has she simply turned into Peter Capaldi's Doctor? It's The Woman Who Lived. Notes and links Nathan refers to the Blackadder the Third episode Amy and Amiability in which a young woman played by Miranda Richardson disguises herself as a highwayman called the Shadow, who has a serious problem with squirrels. The first scene of this story is very much written by someone who remembers that episode. In his massive best seller Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell proposes the theory that it takes 10,000 hours to become really proficient at something. If you want to hear two of our favourite podcasters rip Gladwell's book apart, they do that in an episode of their podcast If Books Could Kill. Richard mentions the Sydney Theatre Company's 2020 production of The Picture of Dorian Gray, directed by Kip Williams and starring Eryn Jean Norvill as the only cast member, playing no less than 26 characters. Williams is bringing that production to London's West End in 2024, starring Succession's Sarah Snook. The Doctor Who production crew gave Maisie Williams and Rufus Hound video cameras so that they could record things that took place during the production. One of Rufus's videos made it onto the Series 9 blu-ray release; three of them can be found on the BBC's YouTube channel — here, here, and here. Watch them: they're adorable. Picks of the week Todd Todd recommends the Torchwood episodes also written by Catherine Tregenna, particularly the sad and beautiful Captain Jack Harkness, as well as Meat and Adam (and Out of Time, a brilliant episode that we didn't mention). Simon Simon wants you watch The Beast (2023) starring Léa Seydoux, who played James Bond's love interest in the two most recent films. It's a romance set in three different time periods, 1910, 2014 and 2044. It's due for release some time early next year. Richard Richard has headed into Big Finish territory, particularly those stories starring Rufus Hound as the Monk, particularly The Missy Adventures, whose first three box sets also feature Rufus Hound. He also appears with Tim Treloar and Katy Manning in Volume 4 of The Third Doctor Adventures. Nathan Nathan's back on his Star Trek thing again, and this time it's Star Trek: Lower Decks Series 4, which is nearing its end as we release this episode. You can also catch our coverage of Lower Decks on Untitled Star Trek Project. Follow us Nathan is on X as @nathanbottomley, Richard is @RichardLStone, Todd is @toddbeilby,and Simon is @simonmoore72. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam. You can follow the podcast on X at @FTEpodcast. We're also on Facebook, Mastodon, and Bluesky, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on Apple Podcasts, or we'll forget we ever met you and get cross with you when you turn up on our doorstep with flowers and champagne. And more We are launching a new commentary podcast on Space:1999 next weekend, so keep an eye out for more details during the week. (The title is, for now, still a closely-guarded secret.) A couple of our podcasts are finished or on hiatus right now. Jodie into Terror was our flashcast on every episode of the Whittaker era, recorded just a couple of days after the broadcast of the episode. Bondfinger is our James Bond commentary podcast, which also covers some of our favourite spy-fi TV shows of the sixties and seventies. Maximum Power is back! Our podcast about Blakes 7, co-produced with the Trap One podcast, returns today with a pre-Series C episode based on the Big Finish Blakes 7 story Warship, set between Star One and Aftermath. We'll be back each week to cover each episode of Series C. And finally, there's our Star Trek commentary podcast, Untitled Star Trek Project, featuring Nathan and friend-of-the-podcast Joe Ford. This week we watched a surprisingly enjoyable episode of Star Trek: Voyager, which gave Janeway and Chatokay some time to pursue a mostly non-cringeworthy romantic relationship.

But what have we learned from the experience? Join us for The Series B Retrospective and find out!
Star One Series B, Episode 13 - First broadcast 3 April 1979 And now on Maximum Power, our intrepid crew join the precious few people who actually know where Star One is, as we reach the climactic end of Series B of Blake's 7. While Si tries to convince the local chieftan to let him see his amulet, Col is trading barbs with the chieftain's sister, trying to see hers. Pete is playing the fool and making the Fool jealous. Join us as we discuss Episode 12 of Series B of Blake's 7 – The Keeper.

Gambit Series B, Episode 11 - First broadcast 20 March 1979 And now on Maximum Power we head to Freedom City on the trail of a former Federation cyber surgeon who can apparently tell us the location of Star One, and while we're here maybe a bit of light cheating at high stakes gambling. Pete's cracked the gaming tables, Mark's cheating at speed chess, Col's a cheap little space tramp, Brendan's a ten-credit touch, and Nathan will have that vulpine degenerate eviscerated with a small and very blunt knife. Join us as we discuss Episode 11 of Series B – Gambit.
Happy New Year friends! What a crazy year it's been. This year we have tried something with a theme for almost every episode. It's been an absolute blast picking our songs for these themes, and we've even learned a thing or two.We can't wait to see what 2023 has to bring. Honestly, it's been tough to keep up a regular schedule these days, so we may be reducing the amount of episodes we release. We don't plan on going away though! We'll take a short break for the month of January, and we'll be back in February!Thank you so much to all of our supporters. We don't say it nearly enough, and we apologize for that. What exactly goes into making an opera metal? Or is it the other way around – do you make metal operatic? Today's guest is Arjen Lucassen, the mastermind composer, multi-instrument player, and producer of both Ayreon and Star One. Arjen is known, not only for his massive collaborative projects but also for having a knack for finding the best singers to collaborate with – singers that can handle both metal and opera, and lots in between. Arjen has worked with almost every major metal talent that I've been introduced to in the last 2 years – and all of them can't speak highly enough of Arjen. His ability to scout and retain great talent is unparalleled. Everyone wants to work with him as well because he makes them sound greater. He coaches them in a way that encourages creativity and excellence. Indeed, he is a master of finding great talent – and even making them greater. Listen in as we try to dig up Arjen's secret to finding great singers, how he approaches the collaborative process, and how he puts metal and opera together. In this episode, you will hear: The importance of staying in contact with your community Arjen's early influences and how he developed his own style of music Electric vs. acoustic guitar What he does as a multi-instrumentalist and the importance of sound production Loudness wars and paying attention to the health of your ears His talent and passion for discovering talents The back-and-forth process of working with a singer Subscribe and Review Have you subscribed to our podcast?
