Viel Spaß Kurt Kjergaard Hello friends I wish you all a Merry Christmas... I am very happy to present you a new episode of my Indie Dance The Mix Series for Christmas Eve. Look forward to a set from Dj & Producer Marc DePulse from Leibzig,Germany. Enjoy it Kurt Kjergaard Marc DePulse (JEAHMON! / Diynamic/ Exe Audio) Leipzig/Germany based artist Marcel Sterling alias Marc DePulse is taking Electronic Music into a new level with the experience of 25 years in the business. Starting to produce his own music in the 1990s Marc went through a long journey to develop his signature sound with his typical handscript. Whoever shed some tears while listening to music can relate to what Marc is trying to achieve. It has to be “music to remember” and make a big impact. And that could be a catching melody, a guitar bassline, rolling percussions or strong vocals. DePulse has already connected a lot of that love with his music. Either the music is for the dancefloor or for the heart. And that's what Marc wants to tell us with his releases and podcasts: there is no box into which you must fit in because you are free in your mind to do whatever you love. Being real, being authentic, being a full time music lover. That means: go to bed and wake up with only music in your head. Marc has established as a unique DJ by performing on the biggest international stages, DJing in over 40 countries worldwide. His productions lead him to be the best selling artist in Indie Dance music (Top #1 artist on Beatport in 2023). After appearances on major labels such as Diynamic, Einmusika, Katermukke, SINCOPAT or Parquet (in total over 500+ releases in the past 2 decades) Marc was releasing his third artist album "Together Alone" on Katermukke in 2022. In addition to his own productions, Marc is running the hyped imprint JEAHMON! Records and also invites his favorite artists and friends on his platform “How I Met The Bass” which is a storyteller project that became a big brand over the last decade. Neil Finn of Crowded House joined Billboard's Behind the Setlist podcast to chat about the band's upcoming album, Gravity Stairs, out May 31 through BMG, and the first single, "Oh Hi" (watch the amazing video at YouTube here). Neil shares some insights into the songwriting craft, the band's live performances and Crowded House's long history. Crowded House was formed in 1985 after the break-up of Neil's previous band Split Enz ("I Got You," "Message to My Girl"). The group's 1986 debut album was a huge success in the U.S., the group's native Australia and New Zealand and elsewhere. "Don't Dream It's Over" reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 singles chart in 1987, and "Something So Strong" reached No. 7 the same year. The band went on to continued success with the albums Temple of Low Men in 1988, Woodface in 1991 and Together Alone in 1993. After a pause, Crowded House returned with Time on Earth in 2007 and Intriguer in 2010. After yet another pause, they returned with Dreamers are Waiting in 2021. Try playing a Crowded House record (any of them) then let Spotify play on…you will get just the best selection of really great songs. Go on, try it and you'll see for yourself. This discovery may well make drivetime radio programming a heck of a lot easier, or possibly redundant altogether. You may of course be a Crowded House fan and like, know this already. You may be a casual admirer, or even a sceptic. In which case, take the time to enjoy this shared revelation. But let me tell you that this is simple proof of Neil Finn's songwriting skills. Certainly it's more to do with that than mathematics.I'm saying this as a recently converted fan. One of the deep pleasures (and deep privilege) of doing this podcast is that I can discover what I've missed, correct my own perceptions of some artists, and get up to fan-speed. This band has made stone cold classic albums. Woodface, Together Alone, the debut album probably too. But each one of their seven studio L.Ps now including a brand new album Gravity Stairs offers a masterclass in high quality song and sound craft. Together Alone is a high point for sure but I particularly enjoyed the 2010 Intriguer album. Thing is, Crowded House records take time to love. They grow on you, something Neil Finn is well aware of:"In general our records that may have been regarded as classic, have taken their time. Every album has been a slow boiler, requiring a lot of belief in it". However, Gravity Stairs feels much more immediate than the band's more subtle 2021 release Dreamers Are Waiting. Crowded House have cracked the code to a healthy longevity. Classic songs, great stagecraft, a relaxed attitude to ‘success' and a continuous desire to create something new that's actually good. Whether the new songs last as long as the old doesn't matter too much when it's the same writer, the same band that has made its mark indelibly. One thing is for sure, those songs will probably outlive the algorithms.Support the showGet more related content at: https://www.songsommelier.com/

Multiple award-winning, Dutch multi-hyphenate Dorith Mous (1986), was seemingly born into her art, gaining beautiful knowledge of physical form and capturing depth from a subject through her own nomadic experience as a fashion model for two decades.Having moved fluidly from a storied career in front of the lens to one behind it, as a photographer and filmmaker, Dorith elicits an artful finesse of the soul – one in which her subjects both exude and challenge the archetypes of beauty, while provoking ideas, ideals and ideologies. With her successful anti-discriminatory exhibition in New York City, entitled IamYOU, and her ongoing cinematic series Together-Alone, which focuses on destigmatizing mental health, Dorith continues to create awareness by means of harvesting the honesty that permeates through her portraiture of subjects. In This EpisodeDorith's websiteTogether Alone.org@together_alone_movementNever Alone.love@neveralone.loveThe Human X playlist---What's new with The Trauma Therapist Project! The Trauma 5: gold nuggets from my 700+ interviewsThe Trauma Therapist Newsletter: a monthly resource of information and inspiration dedicated to trauma therapists. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5739761/advertisement

Over the last couple decades, Sarah Borges has built a loyal following, playing live shows and releasing several albums. Her first record, Silver City, was praised by NPR's David Dye for showcasing “an unusual knack for mixing alternative rock with country” She stays very busy writing, recording and touring – but in early 2020, Sarah, like many musicians, became isolated from concert halls and even recording studios. Missing that audience connection and camaraderie of working with other artists, she continued to write and record from home, singing vocals into her iPhone utilizing her clothes closet as a vocal isolation booth. Stay tuned to hear more about how that experience took shape in the form of her latest album, Together Alone. The track you're hearing, “Wouldn't Know You” is from that album. Handsome Jack, Get HumbleHandsome Jack, Shoulder To Lean OnHandsome And The Humbles, All Those Pretty ThingsHandsome And The Humbles, Self DefenseThe Rave-Ups, So, You Wanna Know the Truth? The Rave-Ups, When I Write Your NameJason Scott & The High Heat, Ft WorthJason Scott & The High Heat, Quittin' TimeSarah Borges Eric Ambel, Wasting My TimeSarah Borges Eric Ambel, Lucky DayLonely Highway, Bad BoyLonely Highway, Livin' in the U.S.A.Kasey Anderson & The Honkies, Two More Bottles Of WineBeth Hart, Whole Lotta Love

When we look back to what we imagine to have been the golden age of reading—say, before the invention of the smart phone—could it be that we’re really misreading book history? That’s what literary critic and Rutgers professor Leah Price argues in What We Talk About When We Talk About Books, using material history and social history to explore both how people read in the past and how most of us read today. Gutenberg printed more papal indulgences than Bibles, and until the past century or so, most reading was done aloud—in fact, too much reading was discouraged because of the deleterious effect it supposedly had on one’s character! Price joins us this week to discuss how, just maybe, social media and books aren’t enemies after all, but merely different forms of the same literary tradition.Go beyond the episode:Leah Price’s What We Talk About When We Talk About BooksHow does your Zoom background stack up against those on Bookshelf Credibility? For those of us who always check out a new friend’s bookshelf first, look no further: https://bookshelfporn.com/The Book of Kells is sadly offline right now, but you can learn about the hundreds of hours that went into digitizing itYou could page through the British Library’s digital copies of Gutenberg’s Bible … or gasp at the papal indulgences he printed to pay for itThe Library of Congress has an entire digital reading room for rare books and special collections, including some wild medieval medical booksNeed dinner ideas? In the first episode of "Crowded in Here," we explore our fandom, dig into some of the less-heralded parts of Crowded House's music, consider the events of the day and look forward to connecting as fans around the band we love. We'll heap some praise on those that got us to where we are today. We're in this together, yet alone; we're a community of individuals that are fans of (one of) the greatest band(s) of all time. It's "Crowded in Here," but there's room for you!

A friend today summed up these officially interesting times perfectly. Absolutely perfectly. "This is the Lentiest Lent I ever Lented," she wrote. Yeah, that about covers it. Almost to the point where I have nothing else to add. It would seem that we are flailing amid a world of hurt, a world of suffering and a world of fear. That's before we get to the religious obligations of prayer, self-denial and penance. This is one hell of a Lenty Lent, all right. We even had to give up church for Lent. America's president and government would have given up common sense and competence for the penitential season, except for one niggling detail. You cannot surrender what you do not possess. AND HERE we are, with too many people unnecessarily giving up good health for Lent. People giving up a sense of security for Lent. People by the thousands giving up their very lives for Lent -- giving them to a virus that U.S. officialdom never took seriously until it was damned near too late. Whether some leaders ever take the coronavirus seriously enough to do any damned good remains to be seen. Let's just say I'm not real optimistic as I sit in the 3 Chords & the Truth apocalypse bunker here in Omaha, by God, Nebraska. That's about all the elaboration I can muster. It's hard staying at home. It's hard being isolated from friends . . . and the world. It's hard for me, and I'll bet it's hard for you, too. So . . . we all do what we can to make it through, and to help one another make it through. The Big Show is what I do -- give you some music to listen to and maybe a thing or two to think about. Maybe that's helpful. I pray that it is. Wash your hands, keep your distance, and be careful out there. It's 3 Chords & the Truth, y'all. Be there. Aloha.
We sat down with musician Sean Kelly of the band A Fragile Tomorrow to discuss one of his all-time favorite records involving Neil Finn: Crowded House’s fourth studio record from 1993, Together Alone. We discussed in great detail the influence of record producer Youth at the helm, Sean’s introduction to the group, Together Alone’s “lyrical tapestries,” as well as A Fragile Tomorrow’s studio collaboration with keyboardist Mark Hart. For those unfamiliar with this rock outfit from Australia/New Zealand, allow yourself to be transfixed with the beauty of these tunes. Enjoy!

Dennis visits the Silver Lake home of filmmaker P.J. Castellaneta to talk about the renaissance his early 90's gay indie film "Together Alone" is experiencing this summer in France...with special screenings and a re-release in theaters. He talks about shooting the film in his Hollywood apartment while working full time as a clerk at Warner Bros., how he found his actors, and why the film still resonates today. P.J. talks about his follow-up film Relax, It's Just Sex starring Jennifer Tilly, Lori Petty and Mitchell Anderson, his favorite day on the shoot, taking the film to Sundance and how making the movie almost killed him. He talks about his plans to get Together Alone on a Streaming service as well as the Frankenstein-inspired script he plans to shoot next. Other topics include: getting married at city hall in Indio, riding in an elevator with a nervous Spike Lee, his nightmare second grade teacher, wanting to live in the Tapestry album and the day Dennis and P.J. went to The Rosie O'Donnell Show in NYC. https://pjcastellaneta.blogspot.com/
In this week's episode, we're featuring the first album in fourteen years from bayou-dweller John Mark Davis: "Bayou Self Sessions" (2018). John Mark Davis was gigging in and around the Beaumont/Port Arthur region in Texas at the same time that Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd and Clay Walker were getting signed to major labels out of Nashville. They shared many of the same clubs, booking agents and contacts: the opportunity and talent to make it big was there. However the responsibility of a young family kept John Mark Davis living on the bayou, providing for a wife and two small children. Three decades later Davis' "Bayou Self Sessions" was born, an extraordinarily good collection of twelve traditional country tracks, including ten originals. Completed between Port-Neches, TX and Covington, GA and in direct consultation with his enthusiastic fanbase, this release runs the gamut from overwhelming tearjerkers to songs of hope and resilience; drinking anthems and tributes to the way it used to be. With prolific tele twang and steel guitar whine, highlights include the devastating "Love Me Back", another tearjerker written by John Mark Davis' younger brother Greg Chief Davis in "Together Alone" and the excellent harmonica cameo in "As Long As You Believe In Me". The timing wasn't right the first time around for John Mark Davis.. but it is now.

“Is Tom Bailey The J.D. Salinger Of New Wave?” It’s a fair question. When Bailey sang for the Thompson Twins in the ‘80s, he was everywhere. But in the ‘90s, he was nowhere to be found. Like Salinger, his hiatus was by choice. After years fronting one of the biggest bands in the world, Bailey was nowhere to be found. But while Salinger’s absence from the creative life was an inexplicable mystery punctuated by occasional sightings and not a word to the press, Bailey’s was more domestic. After the Thompson Twins’ demise, he married his bandmate Alannah Currie, had a few kids and moved to Currie’s native New Zealand to start a family. The couple recorded two albums as Babble and then Currie gave up music for environmental activism and art, while Bailey spent his time on scoring film soundtracks and producing other acts. After a 2014 appearance at the Rewind South Festival where he played Thompson Twins songs for the first time in 27 years, Bailey got the pop bug again and rediscovered his love of the paradigm. His first solo album is called Science Fiction and it’s a lush pop wonder filled with big hooks and Bailey’ s trademark voice. Bringing to mind Bowie, Roxy Music and Crowded House’s Together Alone, Science Fiction is stirring and rhythmic. Bailey talks to Alex about dropping out of pop music, learning to write 3 minute songs again and what his record collection was like in 1980. He also talks about The Sex Pistols, why Science Fiction is hopeful, and whether or not he’ll be writing more pop songs in the future.
Yo! What a great show we have for you this week! As usual, we're digging up tracks of absolute GOLD that we think are worth sharing, and who knows, you might end up in an artist rabbit-hole and discover an all-new fave! You'll have to forgive Robbie for sounding a little dejected early in the piece - technical difficulties were rife and everywhere on recording day, so it's back to Skype lag for us this episode... grrr :/ That all changes once the music gets started. Rayza brings us another brilliant SUNG track, Teresa knocks it out of (Robbie's)park with an amazing D.White track, whilst Robbie brings the pretty synthpop with a Peter Wilson and Matt Pop collaboration. Elsewhere in the episode, we discuss rumblings of a Will Ferrell Eurovision-themed movie, and we get back to our roots and discuss our old scene - going all the way back to our OverClocked ReMix days was a trip down memory lane, for sure! Anyways, enjoy the episode, and we'll catch you in the next one! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RAYZA's TUNE: "Starlight Paradise" by SUNG [https://sung-music.bandcamp.com/track/starlight-paradise] TERESA's TUNE: "No More Pain" by D.White [https://dwhiteid.bandcamp.com/album/no-more-pain-single] ROBBIE's TUNE: "Together Alone" by Peter Wilson [https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/overdrive/1190696497] BONUS TRACK: "Miasma" by GHOST [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hsnqfbPyp8] HOMEWORK: "Sonic Electronik" by Rayza [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRSStuoRr1k] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're still hanging in there. As we make our way through the double digit watches, the film is proving to be a powerful leveller; dragging down the happier boys while lifting up the sadder ones until we're all collectively sitting in the sweet spot of comfortable boredom. But even from within this placid swamp we are divided, and this week Oliver and Alisdair came down hard on poor old Jamie. Maybe this was unjustifiable, or maybe it really is time to knuckle down and focus in. Only time will tell.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
