The Artist/Mother Podcast is truly a gem among podcasts. As an artist and mother myself, I have found this podcast to be incredibly inspiring and relatable. The interviews are filled with insightful conversations and deep thoughts that resonate with me on a personal level. It is a podcast that offers not only practical advice but also explores the intersection of art and motherhood in a meaningful way.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the range of guests that Kaylan Buteyn interviews. She brings on artists from various backgrounds and stages in their careers, offering a diverse perspective on the challenges and triumphs of being an artist and mother. The conversations dive deep into topics such as balancing creative work with parenting responsibilities, finding inspiration amidst the chaos of motherhood, and navigating the art world as a mother. It's refreshing to hear these discussions that are often overlooked in mainstream media.
Another great aspect of this podcast is its emphasis on community-building. Through these interviews, I've discovered so many talented artists whose work I may not have otherwise come across. The Artist/Mother community, created by Kaylan, is incredibly supportive and uplifting. It's wonderful to be part of a community where we can share our experiences, offer encouragement to one another, and celebrate each other's successes.
While there are really no major negative aspects to this podcast, one small criticism would be that it primarily focuses on visual artists, specifically painters. It would be great to hear from more interdisciplinary artists who work in mediums such as sound, video, or performance. However, this does not detract from the overall value of the podcast.
In conclusion, The Artist/Mother Podcast is a must-listen for any artist or mother who wants to feel seen and supported in their journey. It offers practical advice, inspiring conversations, and fosters a sense of community among artist mothers around the world. This podcast has become an integral part of my studio practice and I highly recommend it to anyone in a similar position.
