This weekend we got to attend Airecon, so prepare yourself for a bumper episode all about how we got on there and the many, many games we played there (and a few from the week before) including Mumbo Jumbo, Karuba, Giant Tsuro, Jim Henson's Labyrinth, Azul, Century Spice Road, Imperial Settlers, Dice Forge, Whistle Stop, Adrenaline, The Resistance: Avalon, Photosynthesis, Vegas Showdown, the Networks, Codenames Duet, Cottage Garden and Two Rooms and a Boom! Phew!
We review a big box of bling! Otherwise known as Mechs Vs Minions. But first we start off by looking at some games we've played recently : Above and Below 02:00 Oceanos 09:22 Feast of Odin 15:36 Geek Out! 23:20 Inis 29:12 We then look back a year at Lords of Vegas and Vegas Showdown. We then dive into Mechs vs Minions - sure it has fantastic components, but what about the game? How does it play? What about the mechanisms? It's co-op, so how does it handle the alpha player(s)? It's programmed movement, is that OK? It has a simplist minion AI, are we OK with that? It has drafting, does it do that well? Oh, look at the pretty minis.....
In the 61st EVER podcast, we celebrate the holidays! In this episode, Craig is joined by so many people he can't even handle it, and they all tell him what they want for Christmas. Jokes on them though, as Craig is only obligated to buy two of them gifts, the others have to wait for the guy in the big red suit. First Tyler recaps some games, and even likes some of them, before telling Craig what to shove under the tree. Erin's up next were she gives a first impression of 7 Wonders Duel: Pantheon. Then, Craig is joined by Copac and Meghan from his "local" group for a long discussion of what games they hope they get from the jolly man from up North. Lastly, Matt stops by to talk Blood Bowl, Star Wars Destiny, and Subterfuge, or "games no one cares about except Craig and Matt." Happy Holidays everyone! Show Times: Intro: 0:32 Tyler's Plays: 4:58 Networks, At the Gates of Loyang, Vegas Showdown, Seasons Erin's Plays: 15:11 Networks, Vegas Showdown, 7 Wonders Duel: Pantheon Main Segment: Christmas Lists with Copac and Meghan: 31:45 No games listed here, cheaters, you'll have to wait and hear our lists... A Visit from Matt: 1:04:13 Blood Bowl, Star Wars Destiny, Subterfuge Wrap-up: 1:24:04 PNCN Bumper: 1:26:42
In the latest Episode of The New 100, Craig continues his seemingly endless journey to play 100 games he has never played before (or apparently one he hasn't played in over a decade, like a cheater). In this episode, he is flushed with confusion as there is no easy way to classigy the games he lumped together in this episode: some light, some heavy, some cards, some dice, a little of everything. Sit back and enjoy the chaos that is Craig in the studio alone. Show Times: Intro: 0:35 Darkrock Ventures (Gamelyn): 2:46 Quartz (Passport): 7:25 Castles of Burgundy: Cards (Alea & Ravensberger): 11:26 Zhanguo (Whats your Game): 17:50 Vegas Showdown (Avalon Hill): 23:43 Wrap-Up and Craig gets Political (sorry...): 29:05
This episode of Four Corners of the Board we are looking at two Vegas themed games, Lords of Vegas and Vegas Showdown. We start off by looking at each game by itself, and looking at the components, themes, and game play. We also look at the core mechanisms of each game. As usual, only some of us agree some of the time. We end the discussion by deciding which game we like better as a game, and which game do we feel does a better job of bringing the Vegas feel to the table. We are also now a proud member of the dice tower network, where you can find many more great podcasts about board games. www.dicetowernetwork.com Also check out our new website at http://www.fourcornersoftheboard.com which will also tell you all the ways you can join the discussion!

This episode became my white whale. It was a struggle to get it recorded, edited, partially scrapped & re-recorded, and finally posted. Towards the end, I have to admit that I just gave up a little bit, posting it even though I'm still not happy with the audio quality. Also, I think I ramble on just a bit too much, though at least the second take was better than the first! The audio issues come
