THE LIZZY JANE PODCAST

Better known by his musical alias DMVU, Denver based producer Matthew Phillpot-Jones continues to etch his own indelible mark into the future of electronic music.  From a young age, Jones' always displayed an unmistakable inclination towards music. An only child of two musically gifted parents, Jones grew up in an environment in which he was constantly exposed to a diverse selection of music, and quickly learned to play the piano and drums very early on in his adolescent years. Infatuated by the hip hop culture of the late 90s and early 2000s, Jones traded in the drumsticks for a copy of FL Studio, hoping to test his hand at emulating the beats that were so instrumental during his teenage years.  Citing unmistakable influence derived from the rich underground dance music scene native to Colorado, Jones soon graduated from hip-hop and redirected his artistic focus on producing bass music - a critical turning point in his ascent that ended up proving to be pivotal in the project's life cycle.  After the project's inception in 2015, it didn't take long before Jones' began to see the fruits of his labor.  In late 2016, Jones' received the co-sign of dubstep legends TRUTH, releasing the ‘Bloccd EP' on their Deep Dark & Dangerous imprint.  The title track from that release, Bloccd, instantly made waves across the dance music genre and became a festival circuit anthem moving into the Summer of 2017.  Among the acclaim gained from the Bloccd release was recognition from Circus Records label heads Doctor P and Flux Pavillion, resulting in Jones becoming the first North American producer to ever release on the London based label. While continuing to release his regular share of dancefloor bangers across labels such as Wakaan, DMVU quietly directed his attention to a new creative endeavor - writing his first solo studio album.  These efforts culminated in Two Pairs of Eyes, Gazing Only at Each Other, released on Dome of Doom in April 2020.  This body of work served as a testament to Jones true artistic range as a producer, showcasing an introspective, delicate side of him that was seldom reflected in previous releases.  Continuing to push the boundaries of his creativity, Jones released Praise Be Delusion or, The Ripple in 2021, an important continuation of the cinematic sound Jones established in the previous year.  The album received recognition at the highest level of music achievement, being nominated to the first round ballot for Dance Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Moving into the future, Jones continually strives to perpetually embody the core pillar of the DMVU project: risk taking.  While Jones has repeatedly displayed his natural ability to produce at both ends of the dance spectrum, his next goal is working towards bridging the gap between the two. As Jones continues to work tirelessly towards the completion of his next album, he remains excited about why he started producing music in the first place: sharing the music that he loves with the world. Anita Rojo donned the Green Matter alias in 2019, after several years of cultivating a love ofbass music. This fiery passion was first sparked in 2012, when her sister took her to a Skrillexperformance. Ever since, Roja immersed herself into the bass music scene as a fan, but sheeventually grew a desire to contribute more to the community. She then dove headfirst into DAWs and dubstep production, finding her creative calling with the Green Matter project. The Latina artist shines unforgettably bright among the Denver, CO bass music scene. Green Matter stands as a bright neon bastion about the rest, attracting bass music fans of all genres. Her sound cross-pollinates the nostalgia of earlier dubstep and the constant innovation ofmodern bass production. Such talent impressed Circus Records, prompting them to release herremix of Conrank's “Simulation Breach.” Indeed, at just 21 years old, Green Matter found herplace within the densely saturated Denver scene and developed a sound to flatten the Rockies.Although she mingles with a fanbase of “Earthlings,” her live performances are interstellar. With the return of shows, she shattered speakers and expectations with her performance at Mission Ballroom alongside Bear Grillz. Not only that, but Green Matter eviscerated the Wakaan takeover in Denver, blasting bass with heavyweights including Redrum and fellow Electric Hawk artist, Common Creation. After winning the 2022 Excision Bass Music Initiative, Green Matter plans to abduct more Earthlings and rattle the Gorge with her Bass Canyon set. THE LIZZY JANE PODCAST

MZG are not bound by genre confines. Making big waves in a crowded Denver bass scene, twin brothers Charles & Zach Weinert take the tangible vitality of the dancefloor and inject it with their identical powers. Fusing elements of future bass, dubstep, trap and hip-hop into an electro-synthesis, playfully-wonky soundscapes driven by intoxicating basslines, rich in samples deeply embedded in our collective consciousness. Original creations and torrid remixes cruise the cutting edge of contemporary electronic sound design, then shove convention aside to make way for their monozygotic styles. Since taking flight in 2016, MZG has shared their infectious onstage chemistry with luminaries like GRIZ, RL Grime, Herobust, Manic Focus and Big Gigantic, among others. Already holding down a multi-year residency at Suwannee Hulaween festival in Florida, in July 2022 the pair made their much-ballyhooed debut at Electric Forest in Michigan, as well as Summercamp, Gem and Jam and other festival stages coast to coast. The duo continues to detonate a steady stream of bangers, including the avant-garde bass of “Wind It”, a scorching connect with Wakaan duo Kyral & Banko called “Boolin'”, and the bombastic anthem “Energy” alongside scene godfathers Big Gigantic. Additionally, the two are in preparation for their biggest performance to date at Red Rocks Amphitheater for Rowdytown X. Expect more to come from this duo as their undeniable energy fuels parties nationwide. To learn more visit: https://spoti.fi/3bXtc9Z This episode was brought to you by VitaPlur. Although the origins of G-Rex can be dated back to 2015, the last few years have taken Detroit native producer, Jake Sweeney, out of his bedroom and across the globe to play some of the biggest stages in electronic music. As he worked to perfect his brand of high energy trap and bass fused with sinister dubstep sound design, he honed in on a deep dark sound that has become a recognizable signature in his music and earned him the respect and support of leaders in the scene. In 2020 G-REX hit the ground running again as support for Excision on most stops of his mind-blowing new tour ‘The Evolution.' Unfortunately, the tour was cut short but this extra time was well-spent in the studio where he finished up a quirky collaboration with TVBOO called “Dweller” and an amazing remix of “Stars Tonight” by Zeds Dead & DROELOE. October, his favorite month of the year, brought the release of his third EP on WAKAAN. HALLOWS EP, showcased an impressive lineup of collaborators including Hydraulix, DJ Afterthought, and Project Pat from Three 6 Mafia and also included one of his most anticipated unreleased tracks, “HITTA.” While many continue to regurgitate the same stale sounds, G-Rex is here to usher in a new era of cold-blooded bass. Tatiana Tindall was born into her love of music with a father who was a composer, musician, and DJ. As a child, she found meaning in dance, and while she loved music, she was unsure about finding a career there until her teenage years. At 17, Tindall was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and was forced to quit dancing due to bone and muscle damage sustained from chemotherapy. Distraught and depressed, she sought and found a new creative outlet in music production: REDRUM. Inspired by Stephen King's concept of "The Shining," the Portland-based artist curates bewitching music to help her listeners find their inner magic. REDRUM's ethereal sounds are featured on Subsidia's Dawn: Vol. 2, Electric Hawk's In Unity compilation & her Debut EP ‘Pieces Moon' on Liquid Strangers SSKWAN. She has captivated in-home crowds on lineups including Electric Hawk's Harmony Virtual Music Festival and In Unity Livestream, as well as live performances at festivals like Forbidden Kingdom, Homebase, Kosmic kingdom and Freakfest. REDRUM is quickly gaining notoriety in the bass music community, with support from several publications including EDM.com, Electric Hawk, FUXWITHIT, EDM Identity, and HeardItHereFirst. 2022 is looking to really kick things up a notch, heading out on the road with Liquid Stranger For the B A L A N C E National tour, support slots for G Jones and a host of festival appearances in the diary, as well as her second EP ‘Chaos Theory' which has just landed this March via WAKAAN. Perhaps that's why his productions have already found their way into the sets of Noisia and Boombox Cartel, he recently toured with Yheti and Todaface, and he is repeatedly invited to share the stage with the likes of Hudson Mohawke, The Widdler, and Truth. His 2016 release, "BLOCC'd" has half a million+ plays at Deep Dark and Dangerous, and his body of work with Encrypted Audio has garnered quite a bit of attention as well. He recently released a full length, “Moon Man”, with Circus Records, as well as single releases with Wakaan and Deadbeats. Zebbler Encanti Experience (aka “ZEE”) is an audio/visual collaboration between video artist Zebbler and electronic music producer Encanti, based out of Boston, Massachusetts and Valencia, Spain. The Experience is an immersive performance of mapped visuals on three custom winged projection screens, synchronized with heavy peak-hour psychedelic bass music, resulting in the creation of a fantasy world for audiences to lose themselves in. Zebbler Encanti Experience released a critically-acclaimed EP, End Trance, on standout bass label Wakaan, coupled with a performance at the inaugural Wakaan Festival. Coming out of the pandemic, ZEE released Syncorswim on longtime label Gravitas Recordings, which is a full audio-visual album exploring the ambient, glitchy, and IDM side of the project. Beautiful natural visuals accompany gorgeous, synth-heavy grooves. This different perspective gives fans a whole new look at what an A/V project can be. ZEE have seen a considerable amount of road time in the last few years, serving as integral members of multiple tour teams. The architect behind the projection mapped projects for Shpongle and EOTO, and assisting with Infected Mushroom's stage construction, Zebbler has toured the United States nonstop producing visual shows and performing as a VJ at hundreds of high profile events. In addition to ZEE performing as direct touring support for EOTO in venues throughout the country, and performing in the Shpongle Live band during their first few shows in the United States and final appearance at Red Rocks, Encanti has carved out some time to teach electronic music production to graduate students in the Valencia, Spain wing of Berklee College of Music.
