Corinne shares her experience from behind the mic, covering 20+ hours of live broadcasting throughout the week and reflecting on the race's media growth, evolving commentary team, and powerful moments she witnessed—from joining Dan Green for a few miles at mile 230 of his victorious run to bearing withness in person in heritage square as Rachel Entriken's threw down a historic women's victory. Together, they highlight standout performances and unexpected twists, including brutal weather, muddy terrain, and emotional family finishes like Jenny Chisholm's top-10 run after her sons dropped. The episode also unpacks emerging themes: the strategic use of sleep (or lack thereof), the physical and emotional toll of the course, and the spiritual, almost pilgrimage-like quality the event has taken on for many participants. Russell and Corinne discuss athletes like Shelby Farrell and Dan Green, whose patient, confident pacing led to top finishes, as well as powerful storylines like the youngest finisher Tug Boran, the rise of under-the-radar podium runner Edher Ramirez, and Georgia Porter's fight through illness. Trading cards, celebrity matchups, and dream-start lists round out this heartfelt, humorous, and insightful reflection on a race that's fast becoming the Western States of 200s.00:00Cocodona 250 Overview and Experience10:03Race Dynamics and Surprising Storylines19:57Weather Challenges and Competitive Strategies30:00Key Moments and Race Highlights34:41The Essence of Ultra Running35:01Competitive Strategies in Ultra Running36:10Celebrating Achievements: Dan Green Day37:51Women's Strategies: Shelby Farrell's Journey39:00Injury and Support: Shelby's Comeback40:37Training Regimens: Lindsay Dwyer and Andy Jones Wilkins42:27Life Reflections: The Meaning of Cocodona43:50Interviews and Insights from Cocodona45:07Challenges Faced by Runners46:32Legacy Runners: Celebrating Milestones47:45Future of Cocodona: Team Dynamics48:35Connecting with the Land: A Pilgrimage Mindset49:40Celebrity Picks and Predictions50:46Surprises of the Race: The Rise of New Talent52:34Final Thoughts and Future Aspirations

What makes a great leader? Dan Green looks at the differences between what people often expect and what Jesus showed through his service and self-sacrifice. Why was it controversial to put a life-size, captive Jesus (Mark Wallinger's “Ecce Homo”) onto a giant plinth in Trafalgar Square, and would we find this comforting, inspiring or disturbing to see? Could it help to remind ourselves of how people were so surprised to see Jesus lead the way he did, and even more surprised to see the power of his kingdom?Creative Commons image by Dave Pearce, flickr.com

At some point in a lifter's career, typically after the novice or early intermediate phase, the most reliable way to get stronger is to become more muscular, i.e. build muscle mass. To that end, the term "powerbuilding" has emerged to describe a hybrid approach of training the main barbell lifts (like a powerlifter) alongside a selection of supplemental lifts done for higher reps aimed at increasing muscular size (like a bodybuilder). While some people knock powerbuilding as a merely a clever marketing term, but a suboptimal way to train, the fact is that many of the strongest powerlifters of all time have trained with this approach: Ed Coan, Dan Green, Kirk Karwoski, and many others. In today's episode, Andy lays out his "KSC Method for Powerbuilding" using an 8/5/2 scheme for progressing the main lifts in the context of a five day body part split.   KSC Method for Powerbuilding Program: https://www.andybaker.com/product/the-ksc-method-for-power-building/   Kirk Karwoski squats 600x8 (beltless!) https://youtu.be/-hd8mN765KQ?si=kITPibMEylwqZAvE   Louie Simmons podcast with Dan Green: https://youtu.be/4e7LxkyR010?si=42N135_VFSiemGFi   Andy Baker Web: www.AndyBaker.com IG: @bakerbarbell Owner of Kingwood Strength & Conditioning Co-author of Practical Programming for Strength Training Co-author of The Barbell Prescription: Strength Training for Life After 40
