Acne is often treated like a surface problem, but what if your skin is actually signaling deeper imbalances inside the body? On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared breaks down acne from a functional medicine perspective, exploring how hormones, liver function, gut health, stress, blood sugar, and the microbiome may all play a role in breakouts at every age. He discusses the connection between insulin, androgen balance, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and inflammation, while also diving into the gut-skin axis and the importance of liver detoxification pathways. Jared also shares natural strategies he has used successfully for years, including targeted nutrition, probiotic support, endocrine detoxification support, and topical approaches that work with the skin rather than against it. Plus, he offers an honest discussion about Accutane, antibiotics, and why addressing root causes matters for long-term skin health.Products:LiverVitalityEndoCleanseBack On TractPrecision Probiotic Vital SporesTriple Action Nano-Silver Skin GelVisit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook. What if the plastic container you're heating your leftover lunch in is actively rewriting your hormones? Environmental chemist Dr Paul Harvey unpacks the terrifying reality of microplastics, explaining how these tiny particles act like "micro knives," physically scratching our delicate gut lining and leaching creepy, hormone-disrupting chemicals into our system. Food scientist Dr Emma Beckett also weighs in, offering a much-needed reality check on balancing plastic panic with actual food safety. Then, we dive into "matressence," the massive, identity-shifting transition into motherhood. It turns out "baby brain" isn't a myth or a social media trend; real neuroimaging shows a mother's brain structurally prunes its grey matter to specialise for a baby, right as estrogen and progesterone drop off a perimenopause-level cliff. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals like BPA interfere with hormones at even low doses. Dr. Cohen breaks down how they impact fertility, metabolism, brain development, and immune health. #HormoneHealth #EDCs #EnvironmentalToxins #HealthTalks
The number of couples struggling to become pregnant due to unexplained infertility is growing at an alarming rate across the globe. Alongside this concerning rise is the growing awareness of how endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) – particularly those found in plastics and personal care products – are negatively affecting our hormonal health and overall well-being. If we removed or reduced EDCs from the environments of couples struggling to conceive – dramatically reducing their exposure – is it possible their fertility would be improved? In this episode, Nate is joined by Dr. Shanna Swan, an award-winning scientist, and Sian Sutherland, a plastics expert, to discuss Shanna's new Netflix documentary, titled The Plastic Detox, where she enacts a real-world 'plastic intervention' in the lives of six couples struggling with unexplained infertility – with the hope that they are able to get pregnant by the end of the study. Additionally, Sian shares the strategies her organization has been using to increase regulation of EDC-containing products and increase the availability of plastic-free options. Shanna and Sian also discuss how they're bringing their work together for the Plastic Free Babies campaign, which emphasizes why avoiding toxic chemical exposure during the first one-thousand days of a baby's life is so important to preventing generational effects on overall health and fertility. How might reducing our exposure to EDCs such as phthalates, bisphenols, and parabens improve markers of hormonal health and create ripple effects on our overall quality of life? What is the reasonable responsibility of our governments to test and regulate the safety of products on the market – and are our current institutions fulfilling those expectations? Finally, could addressing the toxins and pollution related to declining fertility lead us down a path of broader systemic change for the entire web of life? About Dr. Shanna Swan: Dr. Shanna H. Swan, PhD, is an award-winning scientist based at Mt. Sinai (New York, NY). Shanna has published more than 200 scientific papers and has been featured in extensive media coverage around the world. She currently serves as the Director of the Action Science Initiative, a program that conducts rapid interventions and larger, longer-term studies that look at the impacts of environmental pollutants on fertility and related markers of reproductive health. Additionally, Shanna co-authored the 2021 book, Countdown: How Our Modern World Is Threatening Sperm Counts, Altering Male and Female Reproductive Development, and Imperiling the Future of the Human Race. Most recently, Shanna was featured in the documentary, The Plastic Detox, where she helped six couples dealing with unexplained fertility reduce their exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals in their environment in hopes of getting pregnant. The movie was released on Netflix on March 16th, 2026. Shanna's previous appearances include ABC News, NBC Nightly News, 60 Minutes, CBS News, PBS, BBC, PRI Radio, NPR, Andrew Huberman Lab, and The Joe Rogan Experience. About Sian Sutherland: Sian Sutherland is Co-founder of A Plastic Planet, one of the most recognized and respected organizations tackling the plastic crisis. More recently, she also co-founded PlasticFree, the first materials and systems solutions platform, empowering the 160m global creatives to design waste out at the source. Sian was awarded the Female Marketer of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, and British Inventor of the Year. In 2023 at the UN Plastics Treaty negotiations (INC2), in partnership with Plastic Soup Foundation, A Plastic Planet launched the Plastic Health Council, bringing expert scientists to the negotiating process with the irrefutable proof of plastic chemicals' impacts on human health. Most recently, in early 2024, Sian co-founded the Foundation for Visionary Science and Art with Alex Adams, working with the scientists to help fund their extraordinary research work on psychedelic therapies. Passionately pro-business and solutions focused, Sian believes the plastic crisis gives mankind a rare gateway to change both materials and systems to create a different future for next generations. The endocrine system consists of eight major organs that produce and regulate hormones, the chemical messengers that keep the body in balance. Hormones quietly orchestrate everything from our energy and metabolism to mood, sleep, and resilience, acting as an internal communication network that responds to stress, environment, and lifestyle. From cold plunges and saunas to endocrine-disrupting chemicals, even small daily inputs are said to shift this delicate signaling. How does stress really affect our bodies? Does “adrenal fatigue” exist? Is it actually possible to “biohack” our hormones? In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Priya Jaisinghani, MD, ABIM, DABOM, a triple board-certified Endocrinology, Obesity Medicine, and Internal Medicine physician from New York City.Dr. Jaisinghani received her MD from Rutgers/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she also completed her Internal Medicine Residency, Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine Fellowships at Weill Cornell Medicine. On this episode, Jared and Jen break down one of the most misunderstood hormone issues affecting both women and men: estrogen dominance. This isn't always about having “too much estrogen”—it's about a ratio problem, driven largely by low or depleted progesterone. You'll learn how estrogen is metabolized through different liver pathways, why some forms of estrogen are far more disruptive than others, and how liver health, gut function, stress, blood sugar, and environmental exposures all shape hormone balance. The episode also explores how estrogen dominance shows up differently in women and men, why symptoms often persist even when labs look “normal,” and how modern lifestyle factors quietly stack the deck against hormonal health.Jared and Jen also take an honest look at hormonal birth control, endocrine disruptors, seed oils, and genetic factors that can impair estrogen clearance—without fear-mongering or oversimplification. The episode closes with a clear, practical framework for supporting estrogen metabolism, restoring progesterone balance, and addressing the root causes naturally.Products:LiverVitalityEndoCleanseBack on TractVital D3/K2Ultimate Vitality MultiActive B ComplexMagnesium BisglycinateAdditional Information:#588: The Hidden Epidemic Part 1: How Endocrine Disruptors Are Hijacking Your Health#589: The Hidden Epidemic Part 2: The Complete Endocrine Detox Strategy#595: The Estrobolome Explained: How Your Gut Shapes Your HormonesCheck out all five“Jen's Story” Episodes!Dirty Genes - Book by Dr. Ben LynchVisit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook. On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared opens part one of a powerful new series on what he calls the hidden epidemic—the widespread and silent impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) on hormones, brain chemistry, metabolism, and long-term health. After more than a year and a half of deep research, Jared and his wife Jen have uncovered how these chemicals mimic hormones, block receptors, interfere with detox pathways, disrupt neurotransmitters, and contribute to challenges like fatigue, low motivation, stubborn weight gain, PMS, anxiety, sleep struggles, and declining testosterone in both men and women. This episode explains why the endocrine system is struggling more than ever, how EDCs create thyroid chaos, hormonal imbalance, and neurochemical disruption, and what steps you can begin taking right now to start clearing these compounds from your environment and your body. If you've been dealing with symptoms that “don't match” your lab work, if you've struggled to feel balanced despite doing the right things, or if you've suspected environmental chemicals may be affecting you or your family, make sure to listen to Part 2 and stay tuned for future episodes. Chemicals in water, food, and receipts are messing with our hormones. Nick Pell helps us understand and reduce the risks on Skeptical Sunday!Welcome to Skeptical Sunday, a special edition of The Jordan Harbinger Show where Jordan and a guest break down a topic that you may have never thought about, open things up, and debunk common misconceptions. This time around, we're joined by writer and researcher Nick Pell!Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1194On This Week's Skeptical Sunday:Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interfere with your body's hormone signals by either blocking them or mimicking them, potentially affecting testosterone, estrogen, and other crucial hormones that regulate mood, growth, and reproduction. These chemicals are virtually everywhere — in drinking water, plastic bottles, receipts, shampoos, soaps, food packaging, and even birth control runoff in groundwater. Complete avoidance is impossible in modern life.Evidence suggests EDCs may contribute to declining testosterone in men, early puberty in girls, and male fertility issues. Frog feminization studies show real hormonal effects in wildlife and Alex Jones.Unlike typical toxins, endocrine disruptors follow a "non-monotonic dose response" — meaning lower doses might actually be more harmful than higher doses, making it impossible to determine a "safe" exposure level. You can reduce exposure by filtering water, avoiding receipt handling, using glass/metal containers instead of plastic, choosing bar soap over liquid, and not microwaving food in plastic wrap — small changes that add up.Connect with Jordan on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Do you know what a bone age is? If you've ever found yourself spiraling over early puberty headlines or wondering if plastic cups and lavender lotion are harming your child's hormones this episode is for you. I'm joined by Dr. Sarah Hart Unger, a pediatric endocrinologist, mom of three, and co-host of the Best of Both Worlds and Best Laid Plans podcasts. Together, we cut through the confusion and misinformation around early puberty, endocrine disruptors, and what's actually backed by science. We dive into: What early puberty actually looks like including what's normal vs. concerning, the difference between true puberty and adrenal changes, and when to seek evaluation. Your everyday habits might be accelerating aging, and this episode reveals what to do instead. You'll learn how specific plants trigger powerful longevity pathways and how to eliminate the hidden toxins disrupting your hormones, brain, mitochondria, and overall health. This is a masterclass in biohacking from two experts who've spent decades researching how to upgrade the human body. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey is joined by Darin Olien, environmental health expert, bestselling author of Fatal Conveniences, and co-host of the Netflix series Down to Earth with Zac Efron. Darin has traveled the globe uncovering forgotten plant compounds, investigated the most overlooked environmental toxins, and now works with leading scientists and governments to bring these breakthroughs into functional medicine and human performance. Together, they break down: • How rare plant compounds like osmotin support adiponectin and mitochondrial repair • Why PFAS, synthetic fragrances, and EMFs are sabotaging your biology • How environmental toxins contribute to hormone disruption and infertility • What makes tap water so dangerous and how to fix it with simple filtration • Why microplastics and heavy metals are harder to avoid than ever • The role of habit design, detox protocols, and indoor air quality in biohacking longevity • Why removing toxins first leads to better results in fasting, ketosis, nootropics, and cold therapy This episode delivers practical tools for building resilience, improving detox capacity, and navigating the modern world with awareness. You'll also get insights into the systems that have failed to protect public health and how personal action can create collective change. If you're interested in senolytics, sleep optimization, neurohacking, and smarter ways to upgrade your environment, you'll find those topics explored in depth throughout this channel.
