You're exhausted from managing your house. The clutter feels endless. You've tried the methods, bought the bins, pulled everything out of your closet, and asked if things spark joy. Nothing sticks. A few weeks later, you're right back where you started, wondering what's wrong with you.Katy Wells spent years in that same cycle until she realized something crucial. Traditional decluttering treats all clutter the same, which is why it keeps failing. In this conversation, we talk about her holistic approach that looks at you, not just your stuff. We dig into why some rooms feel impossible to declutter while others are easy, what "good enough" really means when you have kids making messes, and how to stop tying your self-worth to the pile on your counter. If decluttering has always felt like an uphill battle, this episode will finally explain why.In This Episode, We'll Cover:Why pulling everything out and starting over keeps backfiringThe four types of clutter hiding in your home (and why each needs different tools)How to declutter identity and sentimental items without the guilt spiralThe "good enough home" framework that reduces stress instantlyWhy clutter is literally spiking your cortisol levels like a threatConnect with Katy:Katy's New Book: Making Home Your Happy Place: How to Declutter Without the Overwhelm. Are you constantly interrupted by household stuff all week long? The emails from school, the forms that need signing, the bills that aren't on autopay, the portals that need checking. For years, I was handling these things every single day, either stopping what I was doing or carving out time each afternoon to stay on top of it all. But here's what I finally figured out: most of that stuff didn't actually need to be done that day. It just felt urgent because I didn't have a system for it.Today I'm breaking down what I call my Household COO time. It's a dedicated block of time (usually about two hours) that I schedule once a week to handle all the household coordination stuff that piled up during the week. This one shift has changed my stress levels, my focus during the week, and honestly got rid of a ton of resentment I didn't even realize I was carrying. In This Episode, I'll Cover:What Household COO time is and what goes into itHow to decide what needs handling now versus laterThe three places to collect everything that piles upWhy making this work visible changed everything for my familyHow batching saves time and reduces daily interruptionsJoin the FREE One Notebook Challengeand Kiss your Notebook Clutter GoodbyeFebruary 2-6, 2026www.megansumrell.com/onenotebook ________________________________

It's not about being old-school or resistant to technology. There's actual neuroscience behind why your brain works differently when you write things down versus typing them out.Today, you'll discover the three brain benefits that make paper planning superior for retention, memory formation, and focus. You'll also learn when digital tools are the better choice and how to use a hybrid approach that gives you the best of both worlds. Your boss just dropped three more projects on your already overflowing desk. When you express concern, you're told to "just be grateful for the opportunity." Your to-do list would take 42 hours to complete, but you only have 20 hours available this week. A productivity guru tells you "you can do anything if you just stay positive" and that positive thinking will make everything magically fall into place. You're drowning in overwhelm, but everyone around you keeps saying you just need to "choose joy" and "focus on abundance."This isn't a mindset problem. It's a math problem. And toxic positivity in productivity culture is gaslighting you into thinking you're failing when the real issue is that you've been handed an impossible equation to solve. In this episode, I'll cover:3 toxic positivity messages keeping you stuck and the harm it causes What realistic optimism actually looks likeThe difference between being realistic versus making excuses3 self-check questions to spot when you're caught in toxic positivity thinkingWhy setting boundaries based on reality isn't negative, it's honest________________________________

When did we all collectively decide that December 31st gets to define whether we succeeded or failed this year? December 31st is just a day. It's not a final exam, it's not a measure of your worth, and it definitely doesn't get to be the weapon that determines if you had a good year or not.Right now, your inbox and social feeds are probably flooding with "finish strong" messaging. We examine the difference between political "weather" and "climate" this week, starting with Trump once again bribing farmers with $11 billion after his own tariffs destroyed their markets. We play audio demonstrating Trump's cognitive decline and discuss his increasingly unhinged Truth Social posts, including a bizarre rant about Marjorie Taylor Greene. The Republican Party is now held together by violence and threats, from ICE brutality to intimidation of Indiana legislators. We revisit the enduring plague of "Both Sides" media coverage with examples from Pharrell Williams to prosecutors describing the DC pipe bomber. But there's hope—the Democratic base is finally done giving Republicans second chances, as Mrs. Frazzled's viral video demonstrates.Post YOUR suggestions for the 2025 Crookie Awards here! You've made the plan. You felt good about it. But now you're staring at it, not doing it, and beating yourself up for lacking willpower or discipline. Here's the truth: there's no planner, app, or productivity hack that's going to make you follow through. The real breakthrough happens when you stop asking others what you're doing wrong and start asking yourself the right question instead. In this episode, I'm breaking down why you're not following through on your plans and walking you through the exact question you need to ask yourself (and only yourself) to finally get unstuck. Because the answer isn't external. It's already inside you.In This Episode, I'll Cover:Why asking others for help with follow-through is the wrong questionThe one question that changes everything about executionCommon reasons we avoid doing what we planned (and what to do about them)How to make intentional choices instead of guilt-driven onesWhy motivation won't save you________________________________
If someone asked you right now what your time is worth, could you answer them? Most women can't. And that's a problem because when we don't know our worth, we make decisions from guilt and obligation instead of strategy and self-respect. We say yes to things that drain us, we hold onto tasks someone else could handle, and we feel guilty about investing in help that would actually transform our lives. Whether you're managing a household, running a business, or doing both, understanding the actual economic value of your time changes everything about how you show up and what you prioritize. In this episode, I'm walking you through two powerful exercises that will completely shift how you see your time. First, we're calculating what it would cost to outsource all the caregiving and household work you're currently doing (spoiler: it's probably over $200,000 a year). Then, if you're a business owner, I'm showing you exactly how to figure out your real hourly rate so you can make smarter decisions about where to spend your time and money. This isn't about guilt. It's about getting clear on your value so you can finally make decisions that honor it.In This Episode, I'll Cover:Why the caregiving and household work you do is worth over $200,000 annuallyHow to calculate the economic value of replacing everything you do at homeThe exact formula for determining your actual hourly rate as a business ownerWhy knowing these numbers changes your decisions about outsourcing and investing in helpHow to stop making choices from guilt and start making them from strategyMentioned in the Episode:Hourly rate calculator (for business owners): https://www.megansumrell.com/calculator ________________________________

"ADHD is a superpower."I used to say that too. I was coached to tell my daughter that her ADHD brain was special, powerful, a gift. But when Kristen Carder said "Actually, no it's not, and that's okay," something clicked for me. Because here's what we don't talk about: telling someone who's struggling just to get out of bed on time that their brain is a superpower? That can feel like toxic positivity wrapped up in a bow. It dismisses the very real daily struggles that come with ADHD.This conversation with Kristen, certified life coach and host of the I Have ADHD Podcast, completely shifted how I understand ADHD procrastination and motivation. If you've ever beat yourself up for procrastinating on the things you care about most, if you've ever wondered why you can't just find the motivation to do what you know you need to do, or if you love someone with ADHD and want to actually understand what they're going through, this episode is going to matter. Kristen gets real about why procrastination has nothing to do with laziness, why motivation is basically useless, and how building emotional resilience is the actual key to getting things done. This one's important, friends. In This Episode, We Cover:Why the "ADHD is a superpower" narrative can actually be harmful and what empowers people insteadThe truth about ADHD procrastinationWhy waiting for motivation is a trap and what to fuel your actions with insteadWhy the right things in life almost always feel terrible and that's completely normalConnect with Kristen:Website: www.ihaveadhd.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/i.have.adhd.podcastYouTube: www.youtube.com/@i.have.adhd.podcast Podcast: www.podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-have-adhd-podcast/id1446874607 ________________________________
You know that feeling when you create the perfect plan for your week, and then by Tuesday everything has already fallen apart? Maybe your boss changed priorities, your kid got sick, or three unexpected things landed on your plate. So you tell yourself planning is pointless and just stop doing it altogether. The planning systems you've been taught were never designed for the life you're living. Most planning advice out there assumes you're working with a perfect week. But you're not living in a perfect world. Your life has turbulence built into it, and that's not your fault. In this episode, I'm breaking down why traditional planning fails women with unpredictable lives, and I'm teaching you how to create plans that actually work with your reality instead of pretending next week will magically be different. In This Episode, I'll Cover:Why traditional planning systems fail women with unpredictable livesThe pilot analogy that changes everything about how you view planningHow to create an "emergency fund" with your time (not white space)Why abandoning planning means abandoning control of your destinationThe exact mindset shift that lets you plan for turbulence instead of perfection________________________________
Last week I woke up on Monday morning feeling shattered. And not just the kind of tiredness that comes from a couple of late nights or a busy weekend. I mean the kind of bone tired exhaustion that comes from over doing it for some time. It's a level of exhaustion that once upon a time I would have met with a strong coffee, a stern word with myself and a to-do list that looked like a military operation. Exhaustion, in those days, was something to override, not listen to.But - I'm glad to say - those days are long gone. Now, when I feel that kind of bone weariness and depletion - particularly on a Monday morning - I see it as a big fat warning sign: that something is wildly off kilter and needs to be addressed. Immediately. And so, before the day had even begun, I downed tools, took a step back and got to the heart of what was causing me to feel so worn out.And within just a few days I was back to feeling fully rested and energised. Which felt nothing short of miraculous. So this week's Pep Talk is for you if you've been feeling frazzled, overstretched, running on empty or just quietly aware that the way you're operating right now just isn't sustainable.I want to show you how to course-correct and identify what simple things will help you to unfrazzle yourself and get your energy back in a short space of time. And let's all agree together that, as we head into the Christmas period, we don't normalise feeling utterly shattered all of the time. And that if we do, we see it as a sign that we need to stop and take a look at what we need to fill up our cups and recharge our batteries - even 8 minutes lying on your bed, staring at the ceiling can make a surprisingly big difference (as you'll hear in the episode
Do you know how to pray? Do you feel you have an effective prayer life? Would you like to have a deeper connection to God? This Sunday, as Pastor Jeff resumes our sermon series on the life of Moses we will study a passage that offers wonderful insights for how to have a deeper, more meaningful, more powerful prayer life.
You're not failing at daily planning. Daily planning is failing you. If you're a working mom who wakes up, looks at your calendar, makes your to-do list, and then spends the entire day feeling like you're perpetually behind, this episode is going to explain exactly why. The problem isn't that you're bad at time management or that you need to try harder. The problem is that daily planning keeps you trapped in a constant state of reaction, scrambling to put out fires and crossing off urgent tasks while your longer-term goals collect dust. And when life throws you a curveball (because it will), everything falls apart. When you're a working mom, disruptions don't just steal an hour. The school calls at 10 AM with a sick kid? That's your entire afternoon gone. There's no space in a daily plan to absorb that kind of pivot without staying up until midnight trying to catch up. The good news? There's a better way to plan that actually works for the realities of your life. We're talking about something we've never really covered here on the podcast: brain health. This is a newer field where a lot of the research just isn't very mainstream yet, but the findings are incredible. I brought in Dr. Holly Bardutz, a brain researcher at the University of Regina, to break down what brain health actually means and why it matters for those of us dealing with overwhelm and stress. One of the biggest takeaways I want you to get from this episode is that you can improve the health of your brain every single day, even when you're overwhelmed, even when you're stressed out. You don't need to find three hours a day to make progress on this. You can actually integrate brain health practices into everyday living, and Holly's going to show you exactly how. This conversation completely changed how I think about my brain, and I can't wait for you to hear what small changes you can start putting in place today. In This Episode, We Cover:Why stress isn't always the enemy (and how it can actually help your brain)The five key lifestyle factors that directly impact your brain healthSimple daily habits that build brain reserve and improve cognitive functionWhy you can make new brain cells your entire life (yes, even now)How to challenge your brain without adding more to your to-do listConnect with Holly at www.bardutzbrainhealth.comThe Capacity Confidence Method™ – Free 3-Day Training SeriesStop guessing what you (or your team) can actually get done and start planning with confidence. If you're a woman who constantly puts everyone else first, this episode is going to hit differently. You know that feeling when you look at your calendar and realize you're not even on it? When every single time slot is filled with obligations to others, and the thought of prioritizing yourself feels selfish or impossible? Today's conversation with Erin Gallagher, author of the new book Hype Women, is going to challenge everything you've been taught about selflessness and what it's costing you.Erin is sharing five powerful shifts that women can make today to start serving themselves first. And here's the truth bomb: when you're constantly being selfless, you're not just robbing yourself. You're robbing everyone around you from experiencing the truest, most present version of who you are. This isn't about adding more to your plate or earning the right to take care of yourself. It's about understanding that prioritizing yourself is the foundation for everything else to work.In This Episode, I'll Cover:The real question to ask yourself: Are you even on your own list? Why changing the order matters more than adding yourself to the calendarHow to communicate your priorities without feeling guilty or defensiveThe universe's test when you start prioritizing yourself (and how to pass it)What happens when your kids see you choosing yourself firstConnect with Erin and purchase her new book Hype Women: www.hypewomen.com_______________

My dream for 2026 is to hire something called a household manager, but I honestly knew very little about what that actually meant or how it worked. So naturally, I had to bring on an expert to help me (and you!) figure this whole thing out. Kelly Hubbell, founder of Sage Haus, walked me through everything from what a household manager actually does to the real costs involved. Spoiler alert: it's way more affordable than I thought! If you've ever felt like you need to duplicate yourself, or if you're spending 20+ hours a week just managing one kid's appointments like I did recently, this conversation is going to be a game-changer.Kelly breaks down exactly why this isn't just for wealthy families and how you can start small with just a few hours per week. This is the kind of support that takes over both the mental and physical load that's been weighing you down. I'm actively exploring this for our family, and after this conversation, I think you might be too.In This Episode, I'll Cover:What a household manager actually does and how they differ from cleaners or nanniesReal costs and budget-friendly ways to start with just 6-12 hours per weekHow to navigate partner resistance and privacy concerns when hiring helpThe step-by-step process of finding and vetting the right household managerWhy this solution works for families at every income level and life stageConnect with Kelly + Sage Hausewww.sagehaus.comwww.linkedin.com/in/kellyhubbellwww.instagram.com/mysagehaus_______________
