“You can be the vivacious, radiant, beautiful queen goddess diva that you were born to be.” - Ivy AllenOur society has been so used to stereotyping and gender roles. Feminine characteristics are traditionally viewed as undesirable and when we hear the word “femininity ”, we may think of them as emotional, weak, or fragile. All feminine characteristics have typically been connected with women, while masculine characteristics have been associated with men. Yet in this generation, it is past time for society to recognize that masculinity and femininity are not attributes we connect with gender, but rather, with character. And the reality is men and women are a mix of feminine and masculine energy. The degree to which one is in varies from person to person without determining their sexuality.Women have learned to step up, confidently show up, take charge and lead, things that may be considered more masculine roles. So this week, we are joined by Coach Ivy Allen, empowerment and mindset coach who helps women reinvent and reclaim their lives. We talk about the essence of femininity, how we can learn to embrace it, and how it directly affects our journey as women. About the Guest:Ivy Allen is a certified Life Coach and graduate of the international coaching school, CoachU, Inc. She is a writer, speaker, life strategist and personal coach, who helps women and men create intimate connections in relationships, expand their sexuality, express their natural sensuality, and date with confidence. “Good marketers realize that marketing is an investment.” - Cassandra AlexisIt is crucial to have a long-term plan for how you'll spread the word about your business, and the key to that is to have a specific spending plan (also known as a budget) for putting that plan into action. This is where many entrepreneurs make mistakes: not having a clear-cut marketing spending plan, not laying out important factors to consider, and not setting marketing goals to accomplish. Sometimes when the finances are tight, the marketing budget is the first at the cutting board - or sometimes even scratched altogether. But it shouldn't be. Failing to market and advertise your business properly can hugely impact your business and its potential to thrive. If you want to stay competitive and optimize your money, your marketing spending plan must cover all areas of planning, pricing, and of course, marketing your service. You may have questions like: How much should my marketing spending plan be? What activities should go into my marketing spending plan? How do I track the money that I spent on my marketing strategy? No need to worry because in this week's episode, I'll be giving you insights to help you figure out your marketing spending plan, shift your mindset, and work with the money that you need to allocate to go towards your marketing spending plan. Have you ever had this amazing idea in your head - be it as big as starting a business or as “simple” as launching your own podcast—and you sit around waiting for your fear to subside while you witness other people actually turn this same incredible idea of yours into a reality? Think about all the missed opportunities and ‘could have beens'.The past months, battling the pandemic and other challenges, have shown us that the life we have at the very moment can be changed in a snap. And so, while scary as it may be, it's important to face our fears and not let them keep us from the success that awaits us on the other side of fear. Fear takes on a life of its own, and our emotions sometimes control us more than we control them. While some may have the misconception that it's “all in our heads”, it's actually very real. It can make us become disillusioned about what we want in the present, which causes us to be complacent and stuck in our own comfort zone, too afraid to think outside the box or take risks. Being constantly in a state of fear keeps us from taking the next steps towards new things. It keeps us playing small because of the instinct of sticking with something familiar and comfortable. In this episode, I'm joined by Nortosia Scott, a Certified Abundant Life Coach. Listen to how she finally lives up to her purpose of changing lives and seeing everyone win as she shares her experience in conquering the fear of the unknown - even her fear of jumping into the ocean! Here in this episode, I also share with you a seemingly silly fear that I have recently overcome in this episode: drink alcohol that's blended with ice cream! Time and time again, our history and legacy have been told through the eyes of non-black people. Black women, particularly, have been portrayed as angry, uneducated, intimidating, etc. Often we are made to feel that we have little to no control over our destiny. However, we know the truth. We are Queens... Goddesses. This third installment in the three-part Unchained Goddess series, where my powerful and pearl-dropping co-authors of the book share their own personal stories of triumph, struggle, and wisdom with the goal of helping others unlock the goddess in them.Part 3 circles around our own encounters with situations that involve racism, spirituality, social stigmas, stereotypes, and even at times judgment from others. These things happened for us, not to us. They led us to a path that brought personal, professional, entrepreneurial, and social growth and expansion. This project is proof that a group of black women can work together, support each other, uplift each other, and speak life into each other as black women, all without drama. My fellow goddesses and authors, Andrea “Infiniti” Jones, Shameka Jones, Jena Robinson, Dawn Kristin Ellison, Tierra Womack, and Paula Nichole Goode, also share their tips on how to live the most opulent life while staying true to their most authentic goddess self. Because it is only by living out and embracing our true identity can we live out our God-given purpose.Love to catch up on previous episodes? Situational factors play a part, like losing your job or the death of a close family member. These have an impact on our mental health, and we cannot just ignore them.- Shakia Mayer“You're crazy!”It's a phrase often carelessly thrown in conversations without any second thought as to how it affects the person being referred to as “crazy”. Why should we even be careful, right? After all, it's just a joke. But is it just a joke?We think words never hurt, but they actually do. That's why this episode is centered around shedding light on the various stigmas surrounding mental illness and why we should all be thinking about the state of our mental health. And I'm delighted to have with me Shakia Mayer, a licensed mental health clinician, and personal development coach. My time with Shakia was super enriching and it awakened me to some of the most crucial issues surrounding mental health. According to Shakia, when we talk about mental illness, we're looking at a person's mood, behavior, way of thinking, emotions, and his or her ability to self-regulate. But what struck me the most was the connection between living in impoverished, lower-income communities and having post-traumatic stress disorder. Shakia and I also go through various mental health conditions, symptoms of people who may be suffering from mental illness, and how to find support for you or your loved one who may be struggling with said conditions.October may be mental health awareness month, but we should all prioritize our mental health all year round and continuously educate and enlighten ourselves about each other's plight, but more importantly, those who are suffering from various mental illnesses. Listen to this episode to know more.In this conversation, we discuss:Mental health is something we all have as it equates to positive emotional and social wellbeingThe stigma of asking for help as a sign of weakness and lacking willpowerTypes of mental illnesses diagnosis broken down into categories, severity, and level of functioningHow living in impoverished communities tie with experiencing PTSDAcknowledging biological factors increase the risk of developing a mental illnessSymptoms to watch out for if someone is suffering from depressionEpisode drink: Honey Grapefruit MimosaIngredients:Fresh grapefruitHoneyProseccoConnect with Shakia: WebsiteConnect with Me:Is marketing your business making you feel less than opulent? How do you recognize if you are in a relationship that is entrenched in domestic abuse? Most women can go on in their relationships - marital or otherwise - without fully knowing and understanding that they are in fact abused or experiencing abuse in different forms. All the more reason why I make it my personal mission to always provide a platform where we can tackle topics and have difficult conversations that we might consider messy or uncomfortable - and the issue of domestic abuse is one stark example. Countless women have suffered long enough without seeing any glimmer of hope or receiving any type of support or opportunity for recovery. This week, I have Tracey Forde joining me. Tracey is a Trauma Healing and Mindset Coach, motivational speaker, and founder editor of the inspirational blog, plantedtoflourish.com. Tracey shares her own story of domestic abuse, the power behind acceptance and a strong mindset, and finding the courage to step forward and deal with the most difficult of situations. My conversation with Tracey prompted some important questions that we must ask ourselves as we start building a relationship or have been involved with someone for quite a while. Are we willing to listen to our instincts and intuition when it comes to our significant other, or do we drown out our inner voice telling us to slow down, take a beat, and get to know the person more? Are we sensitive enough to see the red flags in a relationship, or do we drop everything in the name of love even though the signs are all there? Oh, and of course there is more.A word of caution for those listening to this episode, this may be triggering and could drudge up painful, traumatic memories that you'd want to never think about again, so if you need to pause do so.In this conversation, we discuss:What exactly is a domestic violence relationship and what is it notHow abuse comes in various forms, not just physicalHow going backward helped Tracey to move forwardStaying alert, aware and active when it comes to preventing abuseIdentifying red flags for abusive behavior in someone you're currently datingEpisode drink: Lychee rose mimosaIngredients:Sparkling wineCanned lychee in syrupRosewaterConnect with Tracey: FacebookInstagramWebsiteConnect with Me:Is marketing your business making you feel less than opulent? Currently, more than 3.8 million women in the United States have been diagnosed with breast cancer and it is a potentially fatal disease that accounts for one-third of all cancer-related deaths in women. The term “survivor” can mean different things for each one of us. Hey, Goddesses! Ready for Part 2?Today's episode is a continuation of Episode 68, and this time we will talk about what it means to be a goddess and how this resembles your own purpose in life as a black woman. But first of all, how often do we greet each other with the term goddess? I know it's a word that we usually shy away from because it's often used to describe someone with high virtues, power, and divinity. However, the definition of a goddess represents a purpose, a meaning, and a symbol that brings out its divine power. With that said, finding your own purpose by allowing your true self to be unchained from society's stigma can unleash the divine goddess within you. Our connection with the term goddess may in some ways be foreign to us as black women due to the role that religion plays in our culture. Often this stifles our personal growth and hinders us from discovering a deeper relationship with God for ourselves not through the lens of man-made religion. Stepping into our goddess self does not in any way contradict, disrupt or blur your belief in God. In fact, fulfilling our true purpose is the reason that created each of us. A “goddess” is not limited to man-made definitions. She is free to create and define herself for herself. So have the freedom to find your own meaning of the term “goddess” and be comfortable calling yourself one! Listen to Episode 69 as I continue to share the stage with these successful black female leaders, entrepreneurs, and goddesses who co-authored the The Unchained Goddess with me. We talk about our own definitions of a goddess and how unfamiliar this is to the black community. Also, learn what is the meaning of goddess power and how you can wield it to your purpose in life. Saying that black women have become victims of negative stereotyping for centuries is a huge understatement. In this duality of life, we've come to appreciate how breaking free from all these different chains have liberated us to live our most authentic and powerful lives. Having a podcast, like anything in life, comes with both milestones to celebrate and challenges to overcome. The Crowned Opulence podcast has been such a meaningful part of my personal and professional journey and has become integral in my daily life. Although I've dealt with some challenges, it has made me wiser and stronger, and yes, even a better podcaster. For most people who started a podcast recently, their show provided therapy during the time of the pandemic. However, most podcasters are unaware of the impact it can have with creating relevant content that helps establish a person's brand and business. That's what created a podcast has done for me: it has provided me a platform to establish myself as a marketing and business strategist while also allowing me to tackle issues that most people often don't talk about. Through the show, I've provided my gusts and myself a venue to discuss, learn, be inspired, and yes, even heal. We experience different kinds of problems yet go through a similar experience. So why not care to share your experience with the intention of inspiring and educating each other? This podcast was made and continues to be a safe space to discover a new perspective and have an opportunity to get those questions answered without being judged. Every personal story shared and will continue to be shared is a chance to make someone feel a deeper sense of purpose and less alone in this world that can often disappoint you and make you feel lost.Additionally, this show has now become a platform for me to empower black women to silence their self-doubts, own their opulence, and market their value so that they can create their tables in life and business. I dedicate this episode to the show's one-year anniversary! As a treat, I will share with you things I have learned about this journey - from inception to execution, and now having this wonderful platform for action, affirmation, activation and advocacy. Get ready to listen and learn more from this episode! This might be your greatest turning point in creating your own podcast. If there's one thing I will never stop advocating for, it's about being unapologetically opulent and shedding a more positive light on what it means to be bougie. The reason why I'm so adamant about this advocacy is because for me, it is an issue that runs so deep and is intertwined with race and equality. If you're an avid listener of the show (and thank you for that!), I always open each episode by throwing off this question that to me means so much more than an intriguing question. It's actually my challenge to how society views not just women but black women specifically. What is it about a woman being unapologetic about her dreams and her drive, operating excellence, and having high standards that people find so intimidating? We can always write people off based on our superficial first impressions, that a woman wearing a Chanel perfume or carrying a Louis Vuitton bag is “materialistic” or shallow and only think about fashion or shopping. That is not only an incomplete observation - it is downright insulting.Women know the value of hard work and attaining their dreams. We have the capacity to not just aspire but actually achieve. And enjoying the finer things in life and living our most opulent selves is the result of all our hard work and sacrifices. It's just right that we enjoy it! Why is it that when we want to take care of our health, it's always too late? This kind of flawed mindset is founded on the human desire to live forever - or at least for a long time. And we think that just because we desire it, it will happen. But that is never the case. In fact, even with the advent of scientific and technological advancements, we have stunted our ability to preserve our health simply because we are not careful about our lifestyle. We tend to abuse and overwork our minds and bodies, almost always to our detriment. This week, I highlight some of the best lessons I've learned when it comes to my health and wellbeing. From respecting your body to knowing the purpose of your pain, having a deeper understanding of how your body works and how your lifestyle and mentality fit into the picture are such important aspects to learn. Also, I am giving away an autographed copy of the soon-to-be-released book The Unchained Goddess that I co-authored. If there's one vital thing that the pandemic has shed light on, it's the value of loving yourself and prioritizing your wellbeing. We have heard story after story of people outside or even within our circle - friends and loved ones - who were not able to deal with the impact of health scares, job loss, relational conflicts, and even loss of income. In this episode, I want to emphasize self-love even more. People tend to discredit its value, often referring to it as a flimsy excuse to be selfish or self-absorbed. But when neglect of oneself turns to self-pity, and self-pity turns to chronic depression, this can even result in the grimmest of all eventualities: someone taking his or her own life.We don't even want to think about that worst-case scenario, however, it is a tragic possibility. This is why we need to remember these three whys and for hows when it comes to loving ourselves:The Whys: Love yourself because...Your lifestyle is equally as important to your health as your genetics - so it still falls under choice! (From Episode 17 - From Thick to Fit)Your flaws and imperfections are a part of who you are - it allows you to evolve and be better. (From Episode 3 - Get an Understanding of Yourself!)You are perfect. You are who you are because that's how God designed you. - or maybe this should be first? - (From Episode 24 - Your Are Perfect!)The Hows: Love yourself by...Staying in a high vibe through coming from a place of gratitude. (From Episode 31 - Mornings, Movement, and Mindfulness)Using your judgment to protect yourself from something damaging. (From Episode 26 - Thriving After Narcissistic Abuse)Creating self-care routines that don't have to break the bank. (From Episode 23 - Bringing Self-Care Into Your Everyday)Practicing meditation to silence repetitive thoughts, restore balance, and stimulate healing. How important is mindset? You'd be surprised that it is the difference-maker between maintaining your status - which is alright if you've got something good going for you - and taking what you have to the next level. That's what coaching can do for you. Contrary to popular misconception and belief, coaching isn't about instantly changing your situation or bettering your circumstances - it doesn't work like a magic potion. It simply doesn't work that way.Proper business, career, and life coaching are about growth. It's about the process. It's about a journey. Coaching helps build habits that lead to success and encourages you to take action that leads to personal and professional development.Check out six ways you can benefit from hiring either a career or life - or both:Benefit #1: Know your "why" and live out your truth. (From Episode 38 - Identity Check)Benefit #2: Learn from the real-life experience of your coach to help you sharpen your own gifts and talents and brace yourself for what lies ahead. (From Episode 50 - Grow Through the Fire)Benefit #3: See a different perspective by taking stock of your past so you can enhance your path to the future. (From Episode 43 - How Your Experiences Growing Up Influences Who You Become)Benefit #4: Set healthy boundaries for yourself and know your capacity - how much you can actually take on without burning out. (From Episode 47 - Do You Have The Capacity For That)Benefit #5: Have the courage to plan and maintain that confidence even when things change. (From Episode 20 - Courage to Change)Benefit: Map out your path to achieving your dreams - and actually pushing through with it! Relating to someone other than oneself is a basic human need that lends itself to different relationship archetypes: the nurturing mother, the supportive friend, the romantic lover. But the complications and confusion come when we suddenly have relationships that don't fit into these archetypes. What if the mother is neglectful or overbearing instead of nurturing? What if the friend is distant or unavailable instead of supportive? What if the significant other is far from romantic and not at all loving or caring? This is a fun episode to listen to because we will untangle all the complexities that every relationship presents. We use the word “fun” loosely, because though the topics and issues tackled may be heavy, serious, or seem a little bit convoluted, my guests have been nothing but interesting, inspiring, and engaging, not to mention generous enough in dishing out invaluable life lessons. In this episode, you'll learn about:How to manage expectations from long-distance friendships (from Episode 13 “That's What Friends Are For”A man, your man, and the space and grace to be the man (from Episode 4 “Waffles or Spaghetti: Understanding Masculine and Feminine Energies part 1”)Spaghetti and waffle brains - how men and women are wired differently (from Episode 5 “Waffles or Spaghetti: Understanding Masculine and Feminine Energies part 2”)The evolution of femininity, intimidation of white men, and the importance of intention-setting (from Episode 30 “Cream In Your Coffee”)Green, yellow and red flags and recognizing abuse (from Episode 10 “Fairytale Love Turned Abusive Nightmare”)Sex partners, overcoming traumas and personal demons (from Episode 27 “Let's Talk About Sex Part 1”)Knowing your value and nothing being wrong with requiring to be bougie (from Episode 29 “Dating After Divorce”)Being submissive and having a partner aligned with God (from Episode 11 ”Thinking Like A Dude Could Cost You Your “I Do's”)Defense mechanism for pain vs. allowing yourself to be hurt, relationship with God (from Episode 49 “Are You Intimate with Yourself?”)I'm sure each clip selected from this collection of episodes will teach you a thing or two - and surely more - about the relationships you have in your own life.Connect with Cassandra:Is marketing your business making you feel less than opulent? When we think about intimate relationships, most of us think first of intimacy between partners or friends. But there is a unique kind of intimacy that women rarely practice - self intimacy. Each of us must find time to sit and to simply “be” in our own skin. The point of healthy self intimacy is to provide a space to explore the pieces of yourself that you treasure or that you wish you could change. In today's episode, I speak with Tiffynee Terry-Thomas, a spiritual transformational life coach, relationship coach, and clinical sexologist. Tiffynee believes that if you're not having wholesome relationships, there's a possibility that you're probably not having good sex. This episode is a result of a previous conversation that Tiffynee and I had. We decided that before talking about romantic intimacy, it is important that we tackle self intimacy first. So tune in to hear what our thoughts are!In a nutshell, we speak about:What self intimacy is.The strength that comes with being vulnerable. The power in words and how to use that to your advantage. How to become vulnerable with ourselves especially if you find it hard to be vulnerable with others. Why allowing the fear of failure to supersede the feeling of growth is holding us back.Changing the narrative around failure and seeing mistakes as growth opportunities. How self intimacy differs from self-love.Listening to our inner voice.... and so much more!Connect with Tiffynee: Instagram: @tiffyneereneeWebsite: www.friskyfemme.comEnter to win an autographed copy of Sis, Is It You? Strategy and tactic are two different things. While Strategy defines your overall goals, tactics are the concrete things you're going to do to achieve the goals you set out in your strategy. Having both a strategy and tactics that align and support your goal will not only help your business grow but also save money in the process.
