In 1966, Blanche's Kiser's father, Parker Davis Kiser Sr., passed away. His death was attributed to heart disease at the age of 62. Tragedy struck again in 1973, seven years following her father's death, Blanche discovered her husband, James Taylor, lifeless in their bed. At just 45 years old, he was pronounced dead, with a heart attack cited as the cause. The specter of heart disease seemed to loom over the men in Blanche's life. As our Kinda Murdery story unfolds, the circumstances surrounding these deaths beckon for a closer look, hinting at a deeper, perhaps darker, narrative playing out beneath the surface of Blanche Taylor's seemingly ordinary existence...CALL 888-MURDERY, that's, 888-687-3379, to share YOUR Kinda Murdery story or your story of living with a disability or other challenges, and you could inspire an episode of the show!Sources:https://www.oxygen.com/snapped/crime-news/blanche-taylor-moore-poisoning-deaths-death-row https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1989-08-22-vw-1071-story.htmlhttps://medium.com/lessons-from-history/the-oldest-women-on-death-row-is-90-4c67c8c1c874 https://www.wbtw.com/news/state-regional-news/turning-90-north-carolinas-blanche-moore-is-oldest-woman-on-death-row-in-us/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/kinda-murdery--5496890/support.

On today's sharper point commentary, Jim Sharpe discusses the new police report that came out regarding the death of Trigg Kiser, who drowned in his Chandler pool a few months ago. The report shows that Trigg's father, Brady, was distracted by an NBA finals game while his son was in the pool.
Send me a text! I'd love to know what you're thinking! What do you do when the tried-and-true ways of doing church just aren't working anymore? When everything you once relied on—Sunday services, eye-catching signage, the best coffee in the foyer—still leaves your church feeling disconnected from your community? In this episode, Shannon Kiser, author of Opening Space: A Vision for Fresh Expressions of Church and Creative Mission, shares about what “fresh expressions” of church means, why the old attractional models are no longer enough, and how ministry leaders can begin to reimagine church for a spiritually curious but institutionally wary world.THIS EPISODE'S HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:Markus Watson shares statistics that reveal most American churches are plateaued or declining, and the majority of major denominations are aging.Shannon Kiser urges church leaders to rethink how they engage with a spiritually curious culture that may be wary of traditional church settings. Many people possess spiritual curiosity even if they are hesitant or unwilling to attend church gatherings.Markus Watson describes how even the physical space of a church building can feel intimidating and unfamiliar to outsiders.Shannon Kiser explains that Fresh Expressions seeks to equip leaders to start new forms of Christian community tailored to their local context.Fresh Expressions focuses on innovative gatherings—like dinner churches, hiking groups, or park meetups—rather than just worship services.Markus Watson asks Shannon Kiser to define Fresh Expressions and how they originated from creative responses to declining church attendance in the UK.Shannon Kiser describes Fresh Expressions as new forms of church that often look very different from traditional Sunday morning gatherings.Healthy churches should diversify their ministry approaches and embrace what Shannon Kiser calls a "blended ecology."Focusing solely on Sunday attendance and budgets is unlikely to reverse church decline.Markus Watson highlights the impact stories from the church's outreach—such as coffee shops and lunch ministries—can have on the congregation's spiritual vitality.Congregations can raise their spiritual temperature and feel more alive by engaging in mission outside their traditional gatherings.Shannon Kiser recommends listening to the community and beginning with simple, small experiments that fit the church's context and resources.Forming Fresh Expressions requires different types of people: pioneers who connect and lead, permission givers who open doors, and supporters who help behind the scenes.RELEVANT RESOURCES AND LINKS:Fresh Expressions websiteBooks mentioned:Opening Space, by Shannon KiserRelated episodes:177. In this episode, we take a closer look at the heartbreaking story of Emilie Kiser and the tragic loss of her son, Trigg. While the internet is filled with outrage, speculation, and grief, we approach this moment with care — not to pile on, but to ask important questions about influencer culture, parasocial relationships, and the risks of oversharing family life online. We discuss how this tragedy may have been preventable, the warning signs that were missed, and the uncomfortable line between content and exploitation. This isn't about canceling a grieving mother — it's about making space for Trigg, the child at the center of it all, and what we owe to kids caught in the spotlight.
While studying for ministry as a pastor, Keith Kiser and his wife met Scott Hahn in a Bible study. Shortly after they became Catholic and now lead youth ministry and family camps.

Today we get to hear from Guest preacher Carter Kiser.Carter brings a powerful message from 2 Chronicles 20:1-12 titled “On Whom We Can Rely.” When crisis strikes, what do we turn to—and what does that reveal about what we truly believe? Carter walks us through the story of King Jehoshaphat, whose moment of fear became a turning point of faith. Instead of relying on alliances or strength, Jehoshaphat turned to God, naming His faithfulness, power, justice, and willingness to act. This sermon invites us to do the same—naming the character of God in our prayers and remembering that even when we don't know what to do, we can keep our eyes on the One who does. It's a timely encouragement to rely not on ourselves, but on the God who has always proven Himself trustworthy.

Welcome to The Spark—your weekly creative pick-me-up from The Creative Boom Podcast. Every Thursday, we bring you a shorter, snappier episode filled with inspiration. And this season, we've switched things up. Each Spark now features a bonus conversation with our week's guest. Today, we're joined once again by Kiser Barnes, partner and CCO at Red Antler, who returns for some quick-fire fun. Kiser joined us on Monday to explore the intersection of creativity and technology, and why optimism and authenticity are so vital in an AI-driven world. If you missed that, you can catch up here. But for this Spark, we're diving into the part of our chat where things got a little more personal—and a little more playful. Kiser shares the lessons he's learned from influential creatives, opens up about controversial opinions on design (including why kerning might be a bit overrated), and reflects on why nostalgia is such a powerful force in our lives. He also reveals why he thinks every creative should have a nemesis and offers a few surprising thoughts about inspiration and identity. This season is proudly sponsored by the School of Communication Arts.
Welcome to Overcome Church Online! We're so glad to have you. Enjoy the sermon!
Mindset Coach Taylor Foreman of Compete Training Academy gets into an epic conversation with Megan Kiser today entitled..."Life When The Tables Are Turned"!
What does creativity look like in a world increasingly shaped by technology and AI? In this episode, Katy Cowan speaks with Kiser Barnes, partner and chief creative officer at Red Antler, about the evolving relationship between technology and creativity. Together, they explore how AI presents both thrilling opportunities and existential challenges for the creative industry. Kiser emphasises the critical role of storytelling, optimism, and authenticity as we move into an increasingly AI-driven world. The conversation covers the future of advertising, with Kiser predicting a shift towards deeper personalisation that makes ads feel more relevant and human. They also discuss how storytelling in film and gaming may evolve into more immersive, non-linear experiences, blending the digital and physical worlds in exciting new ways. Kiser highlights the importance of human connection amid rapid technological change, and how brands must continually adapt to stay alive and relevant. Creativity, he believes, should act as a form of rebellion against fear-based narratives, with humility and generosity as essential companions to innovation. This is a hopeful and energising conversation about the future of branding, creativity, and technology—one that champions optimism, authenticity, and the enduring importance of the human spirit. This season is proudly sponsored by the School of Communication Arts.
In Cormac McCarthy's 1985 Western, Blood Meridian, the story follows infamous scalp hunter John Joel Glanton through the Mexican borderlands in the mid-19th century. How much of this story is myth, and how much history, asks Texas A&M-San Antonio history professor William Kiser. In his new book, The Business of Killing Indians: Scalp Warfare and the Violent Conquest of North America (Yale UP, 2025), Kiser argues that scalp hunting, or scalp warfare as it may more accurately be called, was in many ways more brutal, and more nuanced and complex, than popular imaginings often describe. By following the practice from 17th century New France to colonial and early republic New England, through to the southwestern borderlands and finally the California gold rush in the mid-19th century, Kiser uncovers important differences, as well as throughlines, from time to time and place to place. In doing so, The Business of Killing Indians shows that there is no one story of Native-settler relations, and that while structural forces like markets and colonialism matter a great deal, when it comes to violence, the devil truly lies in the details.
