Check out this week's message from our Eyes On Jesus series titled, "You Have No Idea".
Jeffrey Toobin tweeted yesterday that he got fired from The New Yorker after 27 years as a writer there. He had been fired for masturbating during a Zoom video work meeting. A number of people, mostly men and some women, tweeted sympathetic words to Toobin. Omar Moore looks at subconscious and overt salutes to toxic masculinity and patriarchy—and contrasts the sympathetic responses (in some quarters) to the white male Toobin to the vitriol, hatred, racism, misogyny, violation against the Black woman (and iconic legend) Vanessa Williams from many in the public, the press and by the powerful in 1983 and 1984. Omar salutes Ms. Williams, whom he met in 1993. Plus: The myth that Republicans are afraid of Donald Trump (they really aren't.) November 12, 2020. Want to hear my biggest trigger and the excuse that makes me want to bash my head into a wall? The TIME excuse. Now before you bite my head off, allow me to explain.I get it. You have a lot on your calendar this week, month, year? Just don’t have the time? When anyone asks more of you, you quickly respond with your various reports of busyness, too much to do, and not enough time. Well it’s an excuse. And I know what you’re thinking: "Kelsey, you don’t know my life. You have absolutely NO idea what my day consists of. I have this to do, the things need me, I work 2 jobs, I barely sleep, it takes everything in my power to get food on the table, im in school, I am MOVING this month, I am renovating the house… YOU HAVE NO IDEA."You’re absolutely right about one thing here. I don’t know you personally, and I don’t know what you have on your plate. But I’m still correct in saying that “busyness” has become your excuse- and people are tired of hearing it. You want to know why? WE ARE ALL BUSY. We live in a world of BUSY. Every single one of us do. But there is NO SUCH THING as too busy.Busy is a time filler. It is the quick response to portraying yourself as too productive to participate in something. It’s the response we give when we really don’t want to do or commit to something, instead of just saying NO. Busy is the answer we provide when we want to avoid something or someone, instead of just making time another day or telling the truth.Busy is a decision. It’s a choice. We do the things we want to do. Period. End of story. Too busy is short for not important enough. It means you would rather be doing something else that you consider more important. Simply put, you don’t find the time to do something. You make the time to do things. In today's podcast- we dive into how to figure out what you prioritize to TAKE back your time.

You Have No Idea of the Legions Assembling!
Rumored Voyager Episode Ideas. People will say anything on the Internet. That's its beauty and its downfall. It's also why it's rarely wise to believe everything you read—because most of it probably isn't completely true. However, in this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan ignore their better instincts and discuss a list of rumored Voyager episode ideas that circulated the Internet in 1997 and 1998. Some ideas sound vaguely familiar, probably because they did eventually turn into aired episodes. For others, Char and Tristan are glad the writers dropped the notion. Still, the list includes a couple of gems that didn't make it on the show; and that's just tragic. Listen on and find out what the Voyager writers might have been considering for episodes in Seasons Three and Four. Send us your feedback! Vanessa Williams (star of Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Broadway and concert stages) and her mother Helen join Candi & Randy to discuss their new book "You Have No Idea." Vanessa has been asked to write her memoir many times, but only now - in collaboration with her mother, Helen - is she ready to tell her story. As a teenager, Vanessa and Helen were constantly at odds. But despite their early conflicts, Helen has always ardently protected and supported her daughter, staying in contact with the FBI about the death threats Vanessa received after being crowned and being there for her through the birth of her four children and dissolution of her two marriages. Vanessa describes how she's made it through the ups and downs of her life as well as her career - from the The Right Stuff to Kiss of the Spider Woman to Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives. Jointly written by Vanessa and Helen and filled with dozens of personal family photos and mementos, "You Have No Idea" is an empowering celebration of the love between a mother and daughter and the life, thus far, of a woman who beat the odds to achieve her destiny.
