A @Christadelphians Video: Description: The Bible begins in Genesis with the creation of the earth, and of the first two humans. After Israel's existence in Egypt, they departed for the long journey to settle in another land. Israel's history, their succession of Kings is outlined until the appearance of Christ. Commitment to Christ involves baptism and the living of a moral life. God's love and offer of salvation, is seen in every book of the Bible, and is the message we need to take to heart. # Summary The presentation titled "The Bible in 30 Minutes" by Jake Hardy Orms provides an overview of the Bible's structure, themes, and key messages. It emphasises the Bible as God's message to humanity, spanning over a thousand years and comprising 66 books divided into the Old and New Testaments. The speaker highlights significant narratives, including creation, the fall of man, God's covenants with figures like Noah, Abraham, and David, and the promise of a Messiah fulfilled in Jesus Christ. A @Christadelphians Video: Description: The Bible prevails above all, as the authoritative Word of God. The Bible can be verified by the unity and harmony of message. Fulfilled Bible Prophecy is a convincing witness to Bible Truth. In contrast to the predictions of men, Bible Prophecy is clear, precise and accurate. Israel is an amazing witness to fulfilling Bible Prophecy, for despite dispersion, genocide and war, its survival is a witness to God's reality. The greatest miracle is the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God. He will return to judge the world. # Summary The presentation titled "The Challenging Claims of the Bible" by D. Nicholls discusses the Bible's unique status as a holy book among various religious texts. It highlights the Bible's claim to be the authoritative word of God through its unity, fulfilled prophecies, and miracles. Nicholls elaborates on the Bible's coherence over a span of 1600 years and the significance of prophecies, particularly regarding Israel. The Significance of the Number 40 in the Bible The Bible is rich with symbolism and meaning, and one of the most intriguing aspects is the use of numbers. Among these, the number 40 stands out for its frequent and varied appearances. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, the number 40 in the Bible is often associated with periods of trial, testing, and transformation. In this article, we will explore the significance of the number 40 in the Bible, delving into its various contexts and meanings. The Symbolism of the Number 40 Periods of Testing and Trial The number 40 in the Bible is frequently linked to periods of testing and trial. A notable example is the 40 days and nights of rain during the Great Flood in the book of Genesis. This period marked a time of purification and renewal for the Earth. Similarly, Moses spent 40 days and nights on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments, a period of intense spiritual preparation and revelation.

In the book of Revelation, Jesus Christ warns his followers that he will come again, "as a thief in the night." This means that his coming will be unexpected and sudden. Jesus tells his followers to "watch" and to be prepared for his coming. He says that those who are watching will be "blessed." the phrase "behold I come blessed is he that watcheth" is a reminder to Christians to be prepared for the coming of Christ. This means living a life of faith and obedience to God. It also means being aware of the signs of the times and being ready for Christ's return at any moment. Here are some examples of how Christians can "watch" for the coming of Christ: Studying the Bible: The Bible is full of prophecies about the Second Coming of Christ. By studying the Bible, Christians can learn more about what to expect when Christ returns. Praying: Prayer is a way of communicating with God. By praying, Christians can ask God to help them to be prepared for his coming. Living a life of faith: A life of faith is a life that is lived in accordance with God's will. By living a life of faith, Christians can demonstrate their love for God and their readiness for his coming. Being aware of the signs of the times: The Bible says that there will be certain signs that will indicate the coming of Christ. By being aware of these signs, Christians can be more prepared for his return. The phrase "behold I come blessed is he that watcheth" is a call to action for all Christians. It is a reminder that we should always be prepared for the coming of Christ, no matter when it may happen. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christadelphians-talk/message

A covenant is more than a mere contract; it is a sacred and unbreakable promise between the Almighty and His people. Let us explore this divine connection through the lens of Scripture. Jeremiah 33:20 God says, 'If my covenant with day and my covenant with night ever fell apart so that day and night became haphazard and you never knew which was coming and when, 21 then and only then would my covenant with my servant David fall apart and his descendants no longer rule. The same goes for the Levitical priests who serve me I. Definition of Covenant: A. Covenant in the Bible: The Bible defines a covenant as a solemn agreement established between God and His people. It goes beyond a legal transaction; it is a relational bond built on trust and faithfulness. B. Key Elements: 1. Promises: God's covenant is marked by His promises to His people. As seen in Genesis 17:7, God declares, "I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you." 2. Conditions: While God's promises are unwavering, His covenants often come with conditions. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 emphasizes obedience as a key condition for receiving God's blessings. II. Biblical Covenants: A. Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 17): 1. Promise of Descendants: God assures Abraham of descendants as numerous as the stars. 2. Sign of Circumcision: Circumcision becomes a visible sign of the covenant. B. Mosaic Covenant (Exodus 19-24): 1. Covenant at Mount Sinai: God establishe

Welcome to Passionate Life Church! This week we are blessed to have Pastor Andrew sharing the importance of looking at the world with a biblical perspective. Join us this Sunday! ----------------------------------------------------- Reason 8 we can trust the Bible: The Bible is one unified story. The books were picked because the early church recognized that these books had an inherent authority for how Christians live and what they believe. The Bible is a collection of 66 books and letters written by more than 40 authors over a period of about 1,500 years. The Bible itself illustrates some of the materials used: engravings in clay, inscriptions on tablets of stone, ink and papyrus, vellum, parchment, leather, and metals. The original languages of the Bible include Hebrew, common Greek, and Aramaic. 1 Peter 1:10-12 NLT Reason number 9 The bible has survived and thrived through all attacks. The Bible has been made illegal in 54 Countries. Bestselling book every year by far and 6 billion copies in circulation. 1 Peter 1:24-25 NLT Attack 1 (2 Kings 23:28-37). The prophet Jeremiah was commissioned by Jehovah to write a sacred scroll, which threatened divine destruction unless the king and his people repented of their wickedness. Attack 2 After the death of Alexander the Great, the Greek empire was divided into four segments (cf. Daniel 8:8), and the Jewish people fell under the control of a remarkably evil ruler whose name was Antiochus Epiphanes. Attack 3 Diocletian occupied the imperial throne from A.D. 284-305. In A.D. 303, he inaugurated a series of merciless persecutions upon those who professed the religion of Christ. Hurst notes: Reason 10 People were willing to die for it. William Tyndale was a linguist who believed that everyone should be able to read the Bible in their own language. However, under a 1408 law, translating the Bible into English was illegal. According to Wycliff Global Alliance the Bible has been translated into this many languages: Full Bible: 736 languages represent 6 billion people. New Testament: 1658 languages represent 824 million. Portions: 1264 languages represent 449 million. Total: 3658 with at least some scripture represents 7.23 billion people and 97% of the population. Recently, a school district near Salt Lake City, Utah removed the Bible from elementary and middle school libraries. Though it quickly reversed course and returned it to the library shelves, the original decision was made in response to a complaint that the Bible contains pornographic content, and that certain parts are too “violent or vulgar” for young children. Meanwhile, school districts across the country require LGBT content, much of it grossly explicit, in elementary school classrooms as well as libraries. Some even refuse to allow parents to excuse their children from such content. It is, to put it mildly, upside down to silence the Bible in order to “protect” children while forcing radical ideas about identity and sexuality on them. Though the Bible speaks plainly about the violence and barbarity of fallen humanity (see the final three chapters of the book of Judges, for example), it is not gratuitous. More importantly, the Bible portrays evil as evil, rather than celebrating the brokenness under the guise of “authenticity,” “autonomy,” and “diversity.” Eliminating the Bible from education also ignores the crucial impact the Bible has had on the world, especially in shaping Western culture. On one hand, this is simply part of the wholesale condemnation of Western culture so common today. However, even if the Western heritage in the sciences, technology, human rights, freedom, and the arts are downplayed or ignored, at least some knowledge of the Bible is basic to knowing human history at all. Put differently, to assume that the Bible is no longer relevant to the modern world is to misunderstand both the Bible and the modern world. The latest episode of the Colson Center's What Would You Say? video series offers a response to the claim that “the modern world has moved beyond the Bible.” Here's a sample: The Bible's positive influence on the world as we know it has been so profound and so thorough that it's easy to forget just how much it has shaped our understanding of science, morality, politics, literature, music, language and so many other aspects of life and culture. Every video in the What Would You Say? series offers thoughtful, reasoned, and reliable answers to common cultural questions. This video explains how the Bible shaped Western culture, how the Bible's description of reality provided the grounding for modern science, and why there will be a growing demand for the Bible as more and more people come to faith around the world. For example, there is a reason that the scientific revolution did not emerge out of other cultures. Despite the common narrative that Christianity is anti-science, science requires a consistent natural order, something described from the very beginning of the Bible: The Bible describes a world that was made by God to be intelligible and orderly. Philosopher of science Stephen Meyer says, “Because we have an intelligence that has, as its source, the intelligence that built the world, we can understand the world….” This is why we expect consistency and order in nature. And why we expect, as humans, to be able to study and comprehend that consistency and order. In fact, the biblical description of reality provided the impetus for most arenas of learning and academic study, including history, medicine, math, and sociology. After all, learning requires that humans are knowers, that they are able to learn, and that the world is knowable. Most worldviews simply cannot ground these assumptions. Other videos in the What Would You Say? video series, which has now garnered over two million views, address questions about science, apologetics, sexuality, race, politics, and more. These videos are for parents to watch with their kids, teachers to use in class with students, and in small groups and Sunday School classes, too. New videos, each addressing a different question, will be added every couple of weeks. Please visit whatwouldyousay.org, or search for and subscribe to the What Would You Say? channel on YouTube. And please share these videos with friends, family, and on social media. This Breakpoint was co-authored by Michaela Estruth. The Bible is the best selling book of all time and most Americans have at least one in their homes, but just because we open it and read it doesn't mean that it's easy to understand or apply to our lives. Even harder is making this a regular discipline in our lives. In this video, Pastor Sean Sears gives you some tools to help you not only read your Bible more often, but also help you hear from God while you read and study the Bible for yourself.

In this message Teaching Pastor Weston Savell teaches about one of, if not the most important ingredient for the Christian life. It is the Bible. Our core value says, "Built on the Bible - The Bible, God's revealed Truth, without fault or error in everything it teaches, is the foundation and final authority for all that the Church and follower of Jesus does." With prayer, this core value drives us. It is the fuel by which we do life as believers, and we do faith as a church. Great parts of our culture like human rights and modern science come from a knowledge of the Christian Scriptures. Introducing this series, Dr. John argues that societies that have a Biblical knowledge are greatly advantaged over others. The Impact of the Bible: Does the Bible still matter in our modern world? In this brief series, Dr. John Neufeld reflects on the relevance and impact of the Scriptures on humanity. After thousands of years, the Bible remains poignant and powerful for all times and places. 2022Q2L01-The Creation from the Quarterly titled Genesis · Genesis very important book containing key information about our origin, our destiny, God's character and plan for His creation, the origin and problem with iniquity. · There are two different words used for God throughout the Bible and we see them starting in Genesis: - el (god), plural is elohim (gods) - YHWH: translated as "LORD" · Elohim is used starting in Genesis 1 and throughout the description of creation. Contrary to popular belief that this is the BIG POWERFUL MIGHT GOD term, it is actually more of a generic little “g” god term. You can find it used as such elsewhere in the Bible as a generic term for god or gods that are not the creator (e.g Gen 35:2,4, Exo 20:3, Exo 23:24, Deu 12:3, etc.). · The term YHWH (Yaweh) is first introduced starting in Gen 2:4 · Here, and many other places, YHWH is used along with “elohim” to denote that this is a specific god, in this case The God who created. · It also corresponds with the time we see God acting as manager of the earth and of creation and of and relating to mankind. · YHWH is not only the God that created (Gen 2:4) He is the one that man starts to call out to (Gen 4:26); He is the one that orders the flood (Gen 6:7); scatters the people at Babel (Gen 11:6); calls Abraham out from his land (Gen 15:18); makes a covenant with Moses; leads the Children of Israel out of Egypt with a mighty hand; meets with Moses on Mt. Sinai and speaks directly to the people from that mountain. · He is also the one who reveals His glory to Moses on the mountain (Exo 34:6), passing by him and proclaiming His own name: "The LORD (YHWH), the LORD (YHWH) God [El], merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,(Exo 34:7) ... · MONDAY - It was good: God proclaims his work “good” and at the end of creation “good good” (or very good) indicating not only He is pleased with it, but that it ended up as He intended. · TUESDAY - The Sabbath: The Sabbath caps off creation, ending the creation week on a very good note, on a time to enjoy the creation and relationships that were formed. · WEDNESDAY - Creation of Humanity: We are physicially and spiritually made in the Image of God showing just how much God intended for us to be companions to Him, to be able to relate to Him and be close to Him · THURSDAY - Duty of Humanity: All of the activities God created for Man (tending to the animals, tending the garden, joining in marriage, creating and raising children) are key to helping us understand our relationship with God, as our relationship with God seems to be the most important object that God had in mind for His creation. · FRIDAY - Science and the Bible: The Bible withstands scientific scrutiny no matter how much knowledge man obtains. Who would know that the discovery of DNA and Chromosomes and DNA would support the fact that you can make a woman from a man, that the man has all the genetic information to do this, whereas you cannot go the other way to make a man from a woman (even as that would be the obvious assumption based on the fact that woman give birth to male babies all the time.) --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/from-the-top-ministries/message

Have you ever wondered, “How was the Bible put together?” Or “Why were these letters picked to be put in the Bible?” Well we are launching a new series called “The Bible” and we begin by answering these questions and more. You may wonder why this is important enough to be talked about? Well think about our text in Genesis 3 of our last series. In the opening verses we find Satan attacking the truth of God's word, and God's word has been under attack ever since. So it makes sense we begin this four week series with a foundation message on the Bible itself. ——————————————————————————————— Join us Sunday online and in person at 9a & 10:30a at NBCC Norco. Sermon from March 7, 2021. Joel Repic is lead pastor at the Gospel Tabernacle.
Short answer: “one personal, relational God.” The Hebrews are the first to say the Shema: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.” Deuteronomy 6:4 The Bible is not a history book nor a science book, although it contains history and science. The Bible is one people’s story of their relationship with the one God. Then with Jesus, it is revealed that the Jews’ story is actually all of our story. In better sense, theology is not a science of God, but rather the story of God and humanity. Also, Numbers 11 demonstrates the personal g-d of the Hebrews – and in very trashy relationships. Practical application: how to choose a translation.

In this episode of Serving Jesus Christ, Pastor Swanson shares a Sunday message titled, Is There Any Evidence? The Case For The Bible Does the Christian faith stand up to the scrutiny and pressure of our culture and society? Either the events and biblical writings associated with it are absolutely true and reliable or Christianity is on par with all other religions. Is there solid evidence for the Bible? The Bible is the most historically-attestable book available from ancient times. If you desire further information, it may be obtained at wordgiver@gmail.com. Study Notes Ed Underwood The Bible, The New Testament, and the Gospels “And so he [Jesus Christ] is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive their eternal inheritance he has promised, since he died to set them free from the violations committed under the first covenant” (Hebrew 9:15). We’re all born with questions in our heart that the two most basic sources of human knowledge—reason and experience—cannot answer: Who am I? Why am I here? Does anyone care about me, I mean really? History seems out of control, where is this world headed? God in His grace has provided another source of knowledge—revelation—to answer the questions of humanity concerning meaning and significance in life. The Bible claims to be God’s special revelation to the beloved centerpiece of His creation—men and women, boys and girls. Though God demonstrates that He’s there through the general revelation of His creation (Psalm 19:1-6) and has given every human heart the knowledge that He exists (Romans 1:18), His special revelation is His more direct communication to humanity. This may involve dreams, angels, and visions, but we receive special revelation primarily and most clearly through His Son, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1-2) and in the written words, paragraphs, and stories in the 66 Books of the Bible. Many people, even sincere Christians, struggle as we read through the Bible. We may be familiar with a few of the stories and we may have heard sermons about a number of passages. But we find it difficult to put the pieces of the Bible together and feel lost when we’re trying to read through an entire Book of the Bible. What we need is the big picture of the Bible—a broader understanding of how the Bible is put together and how the events, people, and places connect. This is what Bible students call a synthetic study of the Scriptures. We’re dedicating two years to a synthetic study of the Word of God—all 66 Books. And it begins today with this overarching sentence on the Bible: The Bible is God’s masterpiece written to rescue us by revealing God’s Son—Jesus Christ. The Bible contains 66 Books, 27 of those comprise the New Testament, which begins with the 4 Gospels— historical books that provide an accurate and variegated picture of the person and work of Jesus Christ. I. The New Testament is the Good News that completes the awesome story begun in the Old Testament of God’s majestic and merciful plan to rescue people and Creation from consequences of human sin (Romans 1:16-17). A. The Bible is divided between the 39 Books of the Old Testament and the 27 Books of the New Testament. The God of the Bible is the Creator and Redeemer of His creation. He is personally and intimately involved in the lives of people and is moving history according to His plan. The Cross of Jesus Christ—the Son of God’s substitutionary death for the sin of humanity that defiled creation— is the central event of history from God’s perspective. There is a progressive revelation in the Scriptures, meaning that the story and the message unfolds over time. The Old Testament anticipates the work of Israel’s coming King—Messiah—by telling the story of God’s chosen people, the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The New Testament announces the birth of Messiah and reveals Him as the Son of God who came to take away the sin of humanity. It puts Jesus’ death in perspective and records the beginnings, teachings, and future of the church—those who have received God’s resurrection life, eternal life, by believing in His Son. Jesus Christ claimed to be the Key that unlocks the Scriptures (Luke 24:44-46). The Bible ends by claiming that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End (Revelations 22:13) and His announcement that He is coming again (Revelation 22:20). B. The title, “The New Testament,” transliterates the Greek words, He Kaine Diatheke, which literally means, “The New Covenant.” The term “Diatheke,” or Covenant, characterizes a last will and testament that is ratified when the testator dies. It is a binding covenant or legal contract that blesses the recipients when the benefactor dies. The New Covenant was ratified by the blood of Christ (Luke 22:20) and a person enters into that covenant relationship when he or she comes to God on His terms—belief in His Son (John 6:47). This covenant, or testament, is the unifying theme of the books of the New Testament (1 Corinthians 11:25; Hebrews 8:7-13; 9:15-17). 1. The New Testament is a collection of books that tell one story — the story ofJ esus Christ and His church. They were written from about AD 40-96 in Koine (“common”) Greek. They were separately distributed among the churches of the early church and gradually collected together. 2. The Structure of the New Testament helps us understand the Big Picture! II. The Bible was not written merely to be understood. It was written to change our life by persuading us to believe in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, and trusting Him and His Word in ways that will instruct us and give us enduring and encouraging hope. A. Enduring Hope: The New Testament presents the Gospel of Christ, the Good News that when Jesus came the first time it was to deliver us from sin (Romans 1:16-17). B. Encouraging Hope: The New Testament presents the Hope of the Church, the Promise that when Jesus comes again He will rule and reign in His Kingdom (Revelation 22:20).
How to Think About the Bible - The Bible is the Word of Revelation Pastor Gary continues his series designed to help us allow God's Word to transform us from the inside out.
What the Bible says, God, says. The foundation of what we know to be true about the Bible is the inspiration or expiration of Scripture. It comes to us from God.

The Bible was written in a patriarchal world and our world today still holds that patriarchy and oppression against women. How should we understand some of these passages in the Bible? The Bible holds patriarchal views, yet it also reveals the voices of women who speak out against the patriarchy. We, as the church, have much to repent of when it comes to the treatment of women.

How To Read The Bible: The Bible Is For Everyone - Ps. Emily DelGiorno
Rapp Report Daily 458 What is the Message of the Bible? What is the message of the Bible? The Bible is the best selling book of all time for a very simple reason. It has an eternal message, a message that transcends time, transcends culture. Because it is from our creator. It is a message that regardless of where you are and what time period you may be in, it is always true. Because the Creator who created us knows us well The message of the Bible, in essence, is very simple. First, God is glorified in all things. That is the ultimate purpose of the Bible is that God is glorified. But an overriding theme that you see throughout the Bible is seen that man has violated God's law and that man cannot work his way to earn righteousness with God. He has violated God's law and is a sinner, a criminal in God's sight, and that God Himself made a way of escape that God Himself became a man and died for sin, that he became the redemption. You see that even the book of Leviticus, one of the earliest books that. God wouldn't be our redemption. We can have forgiveness of our sin through Jesus Christ. That Is the master of the Bible. The Bible is like a library . • 66 books (39 Old Testament, 27 New Testament) • Dates range from 1500 BC to 90 AD (approximately). • Over 40 writers • Multiple genres (history, poetry, song, prophecy, etc) • Multiple geographical locations • One theme: The creation, fall, and redemption of man by one hero: God . The Bible claims to be the written word of God. As the word of God, the bible claims to be: 1. The revelation of God. Psalm 19:1–4 ESV 1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. 4 Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, Psalm 19:7–10 ESV 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 2. Inspired by God. 2 Peter 1:20–21 ESV 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 3. Authoritative . Proverbs 30:5–6 ESV 5 Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. 6 Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar. John 17:17 ESV 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. Why should we believe it’s claims? 1. The external evidence. 2. The internal evidence. A. Fulfilled prophecies. B. Eyewitness accounts. John 14:26 ESV 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. C. Historical accuracy. D. Composition . “Today there exist no strong candidates for addition to the canon and no strong objections to any book presently in the canon.” – Wayne Grudem Jude 3 ESV 3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. Know What You Believe About the Bible: The Bible is the authoritative word of God, revealing to us who God is and how He expects us to live. It is the standard by which all things are measured. Therefore we trust the Bible above our feelings and opinions . Whether it’s popular and or unpopular, we will be people of the Book! John 7:17 ESV 17 If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. Psalm 1:1–3 ESV 1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Matthew 7:24 ESV 24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Tonight Joel Settecase addressed the Dreaded Question: "Do you *really* believe all those crazy stories in the Bible?" Does the Bible provide any good reasons for believing them? Are there good reasons to doubt them? The Bible is written from a Middle Eastern Jewish perspective. It naturally challenges our Western American perspective. When we twist the Bible to fit our western perspective we miss out on the Bible’s power to challenge mistaken Western presuppositions about life, love, purpose and family.

About this episode Today we’re talking about exercise and sex. Wow, that sounds like a weird combination, doesn’t it? What in the world do those two things have to do with each other? As it turns out, quite a bit. The benefits of regular exercise and physical activity for women are tremendous, and they include benefits for improving your sex life. Yes, that’s right. Today we’re going to make the case that exercising regularly is not only great for your health, it’s great for sex and intimacy in your marriage. We'll be talking about four areas in which it can make a difference, including your physical health, mental health, body image, and energy. From the Bible The Bible doesn't say much directly about the value of exercise, but it alludes to the importance of caring for our bodies and keeping them strong. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20New International Version (NIV) - Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. Proverbs 31:17 (NIV) - She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. What if someone asked you, “Why do you believe the Bible is true?” How would you answer? There is more to believing the Bible than our personal experience or blind faith. Check out Voddie's talk here: Why I Choose to Believe the Bible “The Bible is true because it is a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eye witnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report to us supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies and claim to be divine rather than human in origin. ” — Voddie Baucham Based on 2 Peter 1:16-21 16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son,[i] with whom I am well pleased,” 18 we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. 19 And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. What do we find in so listening to the Bible? The Bible is about God. Eugene Peterson stated in Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places, “The great weakness of North American spirituality is that it is all about us: fulfilling our potential, getting in on the blessings of God, expanding our influence, finding our gifts, getting a handle on principles by which we can get an edge on the competition. And the more there is of us, the less there is of God.” The Bible is about everything else in relation to God. The Bible is a story of how the Triune God of love came and showed grace and mercy and pursued sinners for fellowship with Him. The Bible addresses every sphere of life because Christ is Lord of every sphere of this cosmos. The Bible and the creeds follow a certain order and so should theology. The five pieces of the order of teaching in this course will be God, Election, Creation, Humanity, and Sin. Consider that theory and practice – ontology and ethics – are intertwined.
