More information to come, but here are the details about this book:Economic Depressions: Their Cause and Cureby Murray N. RothbardMurray Rothbard was the master of reducing complicated theories to their very essence while retaining theoretical rigor, and this essay is a case in point. It was originally written in 1969 and published in the form of a tiny book that achieved a huge circulation. Its continued relevance speaks to an aspect of the Austrian theory that other theories can't boast. It is a real theory that applies across time and place, and its persuasive power is not contingent on the particulars of any individual boom-bust cycle.Narrated by Harold Fritsche. We have another special guest on to discuss the movie Selma for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Special. Ryan Jones joines us from www.theafrolibertarian.com to discuss the film, MLK's legacy and many other issues related to race and government. This is a long one...and fitting for what is our final episode as the Read Rothbard Podcast. The name will live on, but as Murray Rothbard audiobook versions of his books and articles. The show that we do will also live on as the Actual Anarchy Podcast, where we take a look at movies and events of actual anarchy that surround us every day. It is basically the same show, but we are aligning the title to match up with what we discuss; and we also have the added bonus of no longer appearing to speak for Mr. Rothbard. We hope you enjoy this show and look for us again as we launch www.ActualAnarchy.com and the Actual Anarchy Podcast. We compare and contrast Disney/Pixar's Ratatouille and Morgan Spurlock's Rats from a non-aggression principled stance. Do not watch the Spurlock movie before the Pixar movie - as it changes the whole thing. Are sentient rats capable of understanding property rights; can they steal? We talk about the film "Hell or High Water" starring Chris Pine, Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster. It's a 2016 heist film centered on two brothers who rob the bank that their family owe their mortgage to. Oil was recently discovered on the property, but they are at risk of losing the ranch within a few days. They resort to this elaborate bank robbery plan to save the ranch and secure the oil money for their children. No NAP violations here right?!?! Murray Christmas! We discuss Charles Dickens and his holiday story A Christmas Carol and how it is an anti-capitalist, anti-industrial revolution propaganda piece used to argue for additional government interventions. From the anecdotal testimony that is used to play on emotion vs. the reality of actual improvement in living standard (so long as they are voluntarily working in the factories, it is an improvement over their prior alternatives), the enclosure movement, corn laws, etc...So, we pretty much ruin your holiday story with this one....and, there is no Santa Claus! We didn't say the word Inconceivable while discussing the great Princess Bride movie, which is in itself inconceivable. Robert lists this as one of his favorite movies and we endeavor to pack a few libertarian messages into this familiar story. Also, spoiler alert, I make a mistake on a word definition that Robert is correct on - and I smugly, and incorrectly, try to correct him. Oh well. We hope you enjoy the show! For show notes and more: http://www.readrothbard.com/Episode-31This episode on YouTube: Presented by Read Rothbard:Read Rothbard is comprised of a small group of voluntaryists who are fans of Murray N. We discuss the narrative that Idiocracy is currently viewed as a prescient documentary that foretold today's events regarding Trump being elected President. We argue that this may be true, but not in the way that they think. It is the echo-chamber of social media that allowed people to be blindsided to the Trump-phenomenon and the current attack on "fake news" is only going to double-down on the problem and compound it. This is a pretty fun one that feels like we really hit our stride. Also, apparently I was not quite right about the water being the only thing that expands. A few more things do...but it's RARE PEOPLE!Gallium is a liquid at 85.6 degrees Fahrenheit and expands as it freezes, according to Chemicool. The four other elements that expand when they freeze are silicon, bismuth, antimony and germanium. However, gallium is the only element out of those five that has a melting point near room temperature. For Show Notes and more, please visit: http://www.readrothbard.com/Episode-30Presented by Read Rothbard:Read Rothbard is comprised of a small group of voluntaryists who are fans of Murray N. We talk about DJango Unchained and some of the various NAP violations contained therein. As it's a Tarantino movie, there are aplenty. "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing the world that he didn't exist." As it is with Verbal Kint in the Usual Suspects, the true evil is just under your nose for the entire film. He engenders himself to the detectives with requests for help, saying he likes cops, spinning yarns, all to distract from the monster beneath. This is much the same way that the government presents itself as a provider of safety and security, what is needed for a civil society - yet it is the largest transgressor upon life and liberty; creating the most pollution, destruction, mayhem and murder in the history of the world. So, at least that's our take on the message from the Usual Suspects. Double Rainbow of Schadenfreude! We mix it up about the stunning presidential result with Trump defeating the shoe-in Clinton. We recall a play-by-play of our updates to each other as it was happening. Pretty fun stuff. Episode 25! Can't believe we made it this far. In this episode, we are discussing/dismantling Interstellar and Before the Flood. They both call for massive, collective response to a "crisis". Examples of World Wars, the Great Depression, NASA and the moon landings, the Manhattan Project seem to be ingrained in the culture as problems only collective action led by government can, or ever has solved. For Show Notes and more, please visit: http://www.readrothbard.com/Episode-25This episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5ZO_c6eJmNQPresented by Read Rothbard:Read Rothbard is comprised of a small group of voluntaryists who are fans of Murray N. We are back at it again discussing the 1984 cult-classic, Red Dawn. Is there a libertarian thread? There seems to be. This is a long and rambling podcast almost 2 HOURS long! We also spend a fair amount of time discussing the recent Stefan Molyneux video where he appears to be breaking up with libertarianism. It's an interesting conversation and we hope you enjoy. We discuss the 1998 Will Smith/Gene Hackman film. The election and how the media is in the tank for Hillary. We aren't fans of Trump either, but it is full-press against him in the press. We hope that this whole farce shakes the confidence that people blindly have granted democracy. Robert also brings up the hypocrisy surrounding legal vs. illegal gambling.(Apologies to Blink182 for the name rip-off)For show notes and more, please visit: http://www.readrothbard.com/episode-23
We're a bunch of lying liars! We said more frequency! We said shorter shows! Well, here we are 2 days later than our once a week schedule and with a show over an hour long. Oh well. We talk about "V is for Vendetta" and weave in some talk on individual vs. collective ownership and some SJW-logic problems. For show notes and more, please visit: www.ReadRothbard.com/Episode-22-1
Episode 21 - Robert and I adopt a shorter format of just over 30 minutes to discuss the Hunger Games that started off as a promising book series that we both read over five years ago and ended up as an increasingly bad movie franchise. Enjoy yourself. Not a lot of show notes for this one, but you can still visit: www.ReadRothbard.com/Episode-21
We unleash Robert's nerdcore flex on the Marvel Universe, and specifically, Captain America: Civil War. He brings an angle of the precog crime a la Minority Report to the discussion as well. We also discuss some recent AnCap action in the YouTubes and a list of random stuff stolen at the border. For show notes and more, visit: www.ReadRothbard.com/Episode-20
Fresh from the oven! Recorded today. Posted today. A recent business trip took me away from home for awhile so we are just now able to get together again. We discuss the Oliver Stone film about Edward Snowden....ummm....'Snowden' appropriately enough. Robert also gives a shout out to the narrator of the audiobook version of Larken Rose's The Most Dangerous Superstition. Much comparing and contrasting ensues.Show notes and more available at: www.ReadRothbard.com/Episode-19
We're back again, and this time uninterrupted. And special bonus - I watched the 2nd half of the movie. We do it some real Justice on this one and tear the Marxo-Keynesian tripe to pieces. Oh...and we unload the d!ck in a box. Can't believe we missed that on the first show. Plenty of Murray in this one and below. Enjoy! For show notes and more, visit: www.ReadRothbard.com/Episode-18
We take on the Justin Timberlake Action/Thriller In Time about a society where time becomes currency and the rich prey on the weak, or so the story goes. We bust this one up good and quick. We do get cut short so be on the look out for more on this one coming soon. Enjoy yourself. For show notes and more, please visit: www.ReadRothbard.com/episode-17
In the wake of the passing of Gene Wilder, we use Blazing Saddles as our muse for our musings. Much Murray is included with some history on railroads across the West and some heroic figures who break the cartel arrangement and make it on their own.For show notes and more, please visit: http://www.ReadRothbard.com/episode-16
Episode 15 - Moron the Matrix. We re-enter the Matrix to discuss the role of the fellow prisoners in keeping any dissenter in line. We also bring up a Murray clip discussing Jeremy Bentham and his horrific Panopticon which in many ways is similar to the pods that house the people trapped inside the Matrix while being used as batteries for the machines. For show notes and more, please visit: www.ReadRothbard.com/episode-15
Episode 14 is all about the Matrix. People come at this movie from so many perspectives, and they all seem to think that it's a metaphor or an allegory for their way of thinking. We are not different when we come at it from our Libertarian perspective. We also bring out a Marxist-approach as contrast or foil to our ancappery. For more show notes, please visit: http://www.ReadRothbard.com/episode-14
We're back with a special episode posted the morning after recording! This is all about the Olympics, currently ongoing in the pre-Olympic hot-spot of corruption, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. We take apart the notion of equality that is being celebrated at a state-sponsored contest that features inequality as its whole frikken point. For show notes and more, please visit: http://www.readrothbard.com/special-olympics-episode
We venture into Mordor and discuss Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings. It is one of our favorite movies and it has some interesting themes that when viewed from a Rothbardian perspective, are quite compelling. Though not a fan of allegory, you can clearly see the influence that his ideological beliefs had in his work. For show notes and more, please visit: http://www.ReadRothbard.com/episode-13
Episode 12! We start out rambling, then veer into Disney movies. Primarily Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Frozen. It all starts to come together by the end. We hope you enjoy it! (1:01:28)For show notes, please visit: http://www.readrothbard.com/episode-12

SPOILER ALERT! - Batman vs. Superman plot-line is discussed. - /SPOILER ALERT! We open with Pokemon Go and talk about how providing a medium for something is not tied to it being used for evil, unless that thing is specifically evil. Then we get on to the morality of Star Wars with two Kevin Smith movie scenes as our jumping off points. F|_|ck Lando Calrissian! The first clip we play is from 1997's Chasing Amy.The second clip is from 1994's Clerks. Here is the article we mention regarding the Pokemon Go:http://kotaku.com/pokemon-go-could-be-a-death-sentence-for-a-black-man-1783388743Not much else to reference on this one, but do hit us up with feedback as we suggest in the show at:www.ReadRothbard.com and/or www.facebook.com/readrothbardclubOnce Robert provides some preliminary artwork from his book, we will post it to the Read Rothbard site under this episode.1:04:41

As if we didn't inspire enough hate mail with episode 5, we came back and did this one. We talk a bit more about Ali and his resistance to the draft, which leads us to the concept of conscription and selective service; a somewhat voluntary-sounding mandatory system that threatens young men with fines, imprisonment, possible death and certain death if you resist. Oh, and in the name of "equality" the senate just passed a bill so women get the same shoddy treatment.
We talk guns. We talk income guarantees. We talk Uber. We talk porn auditions. We talk Ali.For show notes and more, please visit: http://www.readrothbard.com/episode-5
We introduce a new format to the show where we play a short Rothbard clip and then apply it to present day events. In this episode, Rothbard discusses how socialism is unable to provide necessary economic calculation to have a functioning economy and we discuss the goings ons in the socialist hell-pit of Venezuela where there has been a 60x increase in gas prices as the country struggles with economic collapse. We also mention dicks. No, not like that. Dirty mind. (29:32)For Show notes and more, please visit: http://www.readrothbard.com/episode-4
The place...we're all over it in this one. We do mention Trump and McAfee, maniacs and unicorns; as we touch on the 2016 election cycle, the minimum wage, a worthy cause...and some ideas on what to do as a small "L" libertarian. We take on Taxis, the City of Austin, and Protectionism in general in this one. (33:50)For show notes and more, please visit: http://www.readrothbard.com/episode-2-uber-lyfts-out-of-austin
