Many in the harm reduction community have been saying for years that it is racist to criminalize drugs. The argument is that the justice system disproportionately targets racialized people. Adam Zivo is a Columnist with the National Post, and he is the Executive Director of the Centre For Responsible Drug Policy - he joins Stephen LeDrew to explain the reasons why this argument is absolute nonsense. If you read the history books - and look at current drug policies - the communities that are supposedly targeted are the ones that want these drugs out of their community! Hosted on Acast. A British Columbia class-action lawsuit against the B.C. and federal governments over the safer supply drug program is waiting for certification. The suit alleges government-funded 8mg hydromorphone pills (dillies) and other so-called safe supply drugs provided to addicts led to more addictions and death when these safer supply drugs were sold by addicts to mainly teens. One of the lead plaintiffs is Gregory Sword, father of 14 year old Kamilah who died after ingesting "dillies" purchased from a dealer of safer drugs. Mr. Sword has been a guest on our program. The report released yesterday from NSICOP, the parliamentary national security committee, says that some parliamentarians have “wittingly” worked to assist foreign powers – including China – meddle in Canadian politics. The report doesn't name them, but True North's Andrew Lawton says Canadians deserve to know who these politicians are. Also, National Post journalist Adam Zivo revealed audio recordings showing the extent to which harm reduction activists were prepared to disrupt a conference of their critics in Vancouver – including a plan to dye the water in the conference hotel fountain red, intimidate attendees, and even spray people with a fire extinguisher. Does this mean they're losing the debate? Zivo returns to the show to discuss. Plus, a new documentary exposes the lesser-known consequences and challenge associated with green energy initiatives.
